Emulate Barrack Obama, Bishop Mambo advises RB

Share

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has advised President Rupiah Banda to institute a committee of economic experts that would advise him on how to address various challenges that the country was facing.

Chikondi Foundation president, John Mambo, said there was need for President Banda to establish a committee of economic experts that would assist in advising him on challenges associated with the global economic and financial crisis.

Bishop Mambo observed that as the country goes through a transition period of the global economic and financial crisis, there was need have economic experts that would help him in solving current economic problems.

Bishop Mambo, who is also former Church of God Regional Overseer, told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that President Banda should emulate United States President elect Barrack Obama’s economic policies in order for him to effectively address various challenges that the country was facing.

“If economic development is to thrive in Zambia, President Banda should start emulating what Barrack Obama is doing because they were both elected as Presidents at the same time, and this should give impetus to Mr. Banda to start implementing policies that will drive the nation forward,” he said.

He said once appointed, the economic experts should be given a responsibility of devising mechanisms which would address the challenges of job losses in the mines and other key sector of the economy.

Bishop Mambo, who is also Nyamphande Orphanage founder member, further appealed to the nation to remain calm, united and support President Banda as he works towards fulfilling his campaign promises.

The clergyman said there wais no need for Zambians to start blaming President Banda and his government on economic problems because he was only two months in office.

Bishop Mambo said Zambians should give chance to President Banda and his government because he won the elections at the time when the world started experiencing the effects of the global and financial challenges.

He said the onus was now on the Zambians whom he said had an obligation to contribute effectively to the development of the nation.

Bishop Mambo said Zambia’s economic development was dependent on each citizen’s participation in the development of all the sectors of the economy.

Meanwhile, Bishop Mambo has described the 2008 as a difficult year for Zambia.

He said one of the difficulties the country faced was the death of President Levy Mwanawasa on August 19 in France.

Bishop Mambo said Dr Mwanawasa played a paramount role of removing the country from its economic doldrums during his reign as republican President.

The clergyman said the Christian community was saddened by the passing on of Dr Mwanawasa drove the nation towards economic prosperity in the areas of mining, agriculture, tourism, education and health.

Bishop Mambo further appealed to the nation to pray to God guidance in the year 2009.

He said people should stop politicking and instead pray for God’s direction and prosperity.

Bishop Mambo has since challenged Zambians to live in accordance with the Christian norms in order to promote the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.

  1. So many job-seekers, and I suppose Mambo wants to be a part of this committee of economic experts? We must take into account that the structure of the two economies is different. Furthermore, justice prevails in the states. Cases of corruption and malpractice are expressly handled. In our Zambian setting, the plunderers of the economy themselves have been appointed and reappointed over a period of 17 years. It’s bullSh!t. Well, good luck trying to emulate Obama he’s young and sharp, Retarded Brain is slow and dull, sleepy and lazy. In an ideal setting the young Obama would be looking up to our president and embracing his governing methods.

  2. Yes, it can work. When you delegate a special group to handle a problem, by and large, success is inevitable, i.e., provided the group is capable.
The same people that have been advising President Banda, are the same ones that were advising Former President Mwanawansa. They have only changed roles. What Bishop Mambo is trying to pass across is that the President needs better people to advise him on the global economic crunch. Not only that, but also that Team has to be instituted with a sole purpose of coming up with ways to make Zambia less affected by the crunch. This will leave the Minister of Finance with enough time to concentrate on other economical issues.

  3. :o:o:o AMambo How can you honestly ask RB to emulate OBAMA ,If he cant even fail to lead like LEVY….That is almost like asking Esther to fight like TYSON…..:o:o:o:o:o:o

  4. Mr.Mambo you have failed Zambia it is time you shut your fat big mouth, sit down and let the young people build Zambia. :-@:-@:-@

  5. To emulate someone is to learn from someone and I see nothing wrong with that. It has nothing to do with comparison, as some are thinking. RB can emulate Obama in some areas, just as much as Obama has also emulated others in his long & hard struggle to power.
The problem with African & esp. Zambian mentality for that matter, is that of comparing ourselves with others. This only brings about negative attitude against each other & distracts us from progresssing as a whole.

  6. Barak Obama may be a good man but he has not yet become President of USA. How can a sitting president emulate a president-elect? RB could as well emulate some professor of economics in St Elswhere university. Barak will be advised by this economic committee but that does not mean that he will take their advice or that they will solve the problems. We can only wait and see.

  7. But bakamba kamba banthu mu Zambia! Everyday uyu ati mwakuti, uyu ati mwakuti. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Leave Banda alone to cook!

  8. Jokes aside and empty rhetorics flashes down, Bishop Mambo’s point is RB should be serious with the way he is dealing with the economy. RB was not prepared to be Zambia’s president. This is seen in how long it took him to constitute his cabinate. Obama long before he takes office has already set up a cabinet which even his opponents the Republicans have nothing but praises. I take seriously the bemba saying which say, amano yalafuma no mwibwe yaya na muculu. Mambo might have become stone the way he has handled himself. But if he says something that makes sense, we should admit it. To many PHD’s (Pull Her Down) in Zambia. Let us be open. Obama has actually put some of his critics in cabinet

  9. RB should start reading blogs like this one to get a feel of how people think about his leadership. This a very good starting point than listening to Job Seekers like Mulongoti and Teta (who would always want to say the right things to him) although Teta at one time (the only time) spoke sense about leadership vacuum when then president was away on treatment. We have expertise in various echelons is their in Zambia but the problem is when you have recycled political leaders in key posts.

  11. #18 , the point i am trying to make is that, RB doesnt have the right frame work to emulate Obama.
FYI to emulate is to try to equal or excel;or to imitate with effort to eqaul or surpass. Now u figure out.

  12. Mr MAMBO, DON’T WASTE YOUR BREATH. OBAMA STRUGGLED FOR THAT JOB. RB WAS GIVEN THAT JOB BY LEVY TO ORGANIZE EASTERN PROVINCE TO HIS (LEVY) ADVANTAGE AFTER HEAVILY LOSING THE 2000 AND WHATEVER ELECTIONS. BELIEVE ME YOU. HES GOT NO IDEA EVEN WHERE TO START FROM, GOVERNING THE COUNTRY. I THOUGHT BEING A PRESIDENT WERE A BED OF ROSES. ITS LIKE “PUTTING LIPSTICK ON A PIIG’S LIPS, THINKING IT WILL TURN INTO A PRETTY WOMAN”, to use OBAMA’s LANGUAGE. BETTER STILL, WISHING A GOAT TO TURN INTO A SHEEP. LET’S JUST WAIT FOR 2011.

  13. …MOREOVER THAT COMMITTEE WILL JUST BE USED AS A LOOPHOLE FOR STEALING THE LITTLE THEY HAVE LEFT. OBAMA HAD A VISION RIGHT FROM HIS YOUNG AGE. RB, JUST WANTS TO CONTINUE LEVY’s LEGACY. ASK HIM WHAT COLOUR IS THAT CHI LEGACY-HE WONT EVEN BE ABLE TO TELL EVEN ITS SHAPE. THE ONLY THING HE HAS MASTERED IS THE SHAPE OF THE SPOON HE USES FOR PORRIDGE IN THE MORNING.

  14. Might it better to wait and see if Obama’s strategy yields fruits before running along and plagiarising it?

Look what’s happened to all the bankers who followed the leader in a blind fashion.

  15. ““If economic development is to thrive in Zambia, President Banda should start emulating what Barrack Obama is doing because they were both elected as Presidents at the same time, and this should give impetus to Mr. Banda to start implementing policies that will drive the nation forward,” he said.”

What an interesting piece of news. However, you can only emulate Obama if you are non-partisan and want the nation to progress instead of appeasing some party cadres and families of the colonial gavernment fighting days. Let us be serious for once President RB Banda. I am personally a person who does not like copying anything that comes from the USA. Let us develop our own working strategies.

  16. 31. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe continued.
Of course, it would be great to pick some useful tacts from President-elect Obama’s way of doing things, but let us not just copy for the sake of copying for we might lose our direction in the process.

On the “economic experts”, we do not need another bunch of characters that will consume the remaining little financial resources that we have. What we need is intelligent discoussions that will be used to come up with necessary tasks to perform in order for the Nation to move forward. Let us not reduce our country to a play ground of fighting elephants which will cause the grass to suffer almost irrepairably.

  17. No. 31

Agreed. After all, apart from winning an election, Obama has not started managing the country and there are no visible, proven working strategies with results that can emulated. Yes we are all glad he was elected but let’s not start getting carried away with hysteria. If we want to pretend to listed to a multi party forum, why not start with the House of Chiefs? I am not saying they are economic power houses but we can at least practice how to listen and accommodate different views which, by the way, we have failed to achieve even on this forum. Yet we remain heavily critical of others!

  18. 33. Jaroph, I am glad there are Zambian people who think above politics of looking for food on the table like you.

Zambia is definitely not short of human resources. If the country political leadership had above 5 people of your calibre, I am sure our fellow Nationals would have been enjoying like our friend from Botswana.

Anyhow, there is still the future to look up to.

  19. Due to concerns by Geologist, Canada, and Dobo Banton(9th).LLB, I will be using the username G~la_fj in place of Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for some time.
I also wish to send you all my happy prosperous New Year 2009 to you all old and would-be new LT bloggers.
Having written that, I would like to announce, formally, that I will be very very rare on LT in the year 2009. This is because I am re-mounting operation ‘become Chess Grand Master’ and also I will be working for personal development following the advice from UPND spokesman Zambezi MP Charles Kakoma. I may not be available later in the day to do this since I have been invited somewhere to celebrate New 2009.

    Be blessed y’all.

  20. #35 continued.
I will definately miss you all and continue doing a noble cause for Zambia. Someday we will just make it as a Nation that will have moved from low stature to one that will be riding on high, higher, heights.

By God’s grace, I hope to make it into the New Year 2009. I will be praying for you all and our country at large.

Please, remember who you are always and take care of yourselves.

    With heart-felt love,

Mugungulu H. Mwaanga as Maestro Hhehhehhehhe.
    =d>.

  21. #29, Jaroph you are 200% right,

But first lekeni bayama wandi basambilile efyo ba lelwisha..

its not easy to be a leader.. :o:o:o#-o#-o#-o#-o#-o#-o

  22. Bishop Maambo- you have misdirected yourself. Ever heard the common adage- “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. No further words.

  23. What nonsense is this? this cant work cause Obama has wisdom while the other is just too sleepy. FTJ:”Those calling me names will be crushed because i’m anointed by God and stand on a rock that can never be broken” amen, what do you think guys?

  24. Obama has not even taken office yet, people He might be a worst failure than you imagined.Bishop Mambo Zambia does not have an economy nor a well funded budget the Govt gets $2 dollars (income)and the Govt spends $5 dollars (expenditure)we have to go and bow and beg for our budget to be funded.Zambia with leadership can be governed with it’s resources without going out to beg and borrow. Botswana is doing it,A well run and managed economy with surplus.

  26. Mr RB is not of the same generation as Obama. The situation now calls for the sharp thinkers with the zeal to work efficiently. RB is of the old generation with little to offer in terms of new ideas.

  27. Dr Chiluba:Those calling me names will be crushed because i’m anointed by God and stand on a rock that can never be broken”And chief govt spokesperson,Lt Gen Shikapwasha said President RB is a YOUNG CHRISTIAN (end of quote).MMD i beg u 2stop using the name of the Lord in your crap politics, wat u r doing to the masses in zambia is really uncalled for.May he(GOD) alone deliver u.Irest my case.

  28. FTJ must be going ma* and he needs couselling how surely could he say that, God will first crush him before he crushes those calling him names because he has did alot of bad things to Zambians. And about our sleepy mr. its not possible far from it.It would be like taking a horse to the river which does not want to drink water. It would be much better for him to be at his farm than what he is doing.

  29. In my Opinion RB should reduce his cabinet, select the so called Economic group to help him though he has arogant people like Teta. RB is there to flash money like FTJ did with the presidential slash fund. lets see how the new year has for many Zambia as the times of zambia is saying. we want change period

  30. #48 It takes will and leadership to reduce the size of Govt which most of it is a duplication with too many people most of them sleeping on the job and some of they having sex on the job

  31. Kwanza, try removing your brain from your pants and the see is you can come up with something sensible for once.

You start of making what seems to be a valid point, only to debase it by wallowing in your depravity once again!
