18-man Zambia left for Uganda this morning to take part in this years edition of the Cecafa Challenge Cup that kicks off on December 31 in Kampala.

There were no surprises in the final 18 with only Roan United striker Derrick Kabwe who has scored just two goals this season the only major inclusion in the team.

Meanwhile, coach Herve Renard dropped Ndola United goalkeeper Pailani Chungu, Zanaco defenders Charles Siyingwa and Luka Tembo.

Also dropped was Masauso Zimba from Roan United and his fellow striker and club mate Kelvin Muzungu.

Otherwise Renard has kept faith in the same team that beat Angola to qualify for the inaugural Cote d’Ivoire 2009 Caf Africa Nations Championships (CHAN).

No! We will never host anything my dear.Poor sports infrastructure is killing us.Even war torn Somalia has better stadiums.

  3. All the best to the young lads. Hope this time around we can maintain a team and not always dropping the players. It has become increasingly difficult to know our own players for the national team. Every time, there is a new face.

In my opinion, our poor performance lately is a result of lack of a team which has been together for a ‘long’ time and bad decisions by the coaching bench and football administrators.

  5. Sheer waste of time. Even if they win the tournament, they will come back without the trophy coz zed is just a guest team. >:)

  6. # 10, You are right my brother. These days players are changed like Cabinet Ministers. Fans can’t tell who is going to play just
like our children don’t know our Misters coz of frequent changes.

All the same we are beside them not behind. When supporters are behind Zed players don’t score. So this time we shall be beside them. Go Zambia GO!!!!!!!

  7. #20 I will do just that.

CECAFA stands for – Council for East and Central Africa Football Association. Acronym is simply an abbreviation of several words in such a way that the abbreviation itself forms a word. for any other, refer to #21

  8. Well, the boys look fit on the photo. They need all the support to beat Djibouti tomorrow. I hope those strikers are offensive enough! Go for it, boys, go!!

  10. Go there and do what you do best, winning. And remember that we are watching you back home on GTV.Lastly thank you for covering all expenses for our national team :d/

  11. This tournament should be used as a preparatinon for the CHAN. Hope this time around we will be given both the trophy and the money upon winning it. The fact that we have been invited again simply means we are recognised in the football circles, in the region…..

  12. Am looking to hear gud results from this squad. They seems to be composed now.The teams they are going to face there for me are not worrying. We do noit want some excuses nw from Renard.Go guys go and bring the trophy now which u won last time.

  13. #31, We were invited because we are a good team and a crowd puller. It is good for the tournament organisers as much as it is good for us…..

  14. #33, why are you confused? It is not the first time we have been invited. If at all, there was any confusion, it would have arisen the first time we participated. Yes, the confusion did arise. We won the tournament but we could not get the trophy on the pretext that we were a ‘visiting team’. However this issue was resolved and we have been invited again…

  15. You cant get the actual trophy if you win the finals but you get the prize money and the trophy goes to the runners up.

  16. Guys what we must understand is that;some years back Zambia,Malawi and Zimbabwe were participating in this tournament but after the formation of cosafa the three countries left to join the regional tournament. So it is not the first or second time that Zambia is participating in this kind of tournament. **==**==

  17. Kenya is the team to beat.although Zambia was invited, they have to prove they know soccer,no excuses-no trophy, wrong region.
    Just paly football.

  18. (:| YAWN FORGET YOUR COMMENTZ…ITS BA **==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**== CHABE on december 31 the rest of these comments out pa window!!

  19. All the best to the Chipolopolo men! You can win the cup again and so please do us Zambians the honours.

  20. Due to concerns by Geologist, Canada, and Dobo Banton(9th).LLB, I will be using the username G~la_fj in place of Maestro Hhehhehhehhe for some time.
I also wish to send you all my happy prosperous New Year 2009 to you all old and would-be new LT bloggers.
Having written that, I would like to announce, formally, that I will be very very rare on LT in the year 2009. This is because I am re-mounting operation ‘become Chess Grand Master’ and also I will be working for personal development following the advice from UPND spokesman Zambezi MP Charles Kakoma. I may not be available later in the day to do this since I have been invited somewhere to celebrate New 2009.

    Be blessed y’all.

  21. #41 continued.
I will definately miss you all and continue doing a noble cause for Zambia. Someday we will just make it as a Nation that will have moved from low stature to one that will be riding on high, higher, heights.

By God’s grace, I hope to make it into the New Year 2009. I will be praying for you all and our country at large.

Please, remember who you are always and take care of yourselves.

    With heart-felt love,

Mugungulu H. Mwaanga as Maestro Hhehhehhehhe.
