Government has reiterated it’s commitment to protect genuine investors from unscrupulous people that want to destroy viable businesses through the sale of counterfeit products.

Lusaka Province Minister Lameck Mangani said government will protect investors from unscrupulous business who want to profit from counterfeit products.

He said counterfeit products can ruin the economy if left unchecked as culprits deprive the genuine company owners of the much needed profits.

The Minister further stressed , the products have negative effect not only on the economy but also on the users.

Mr. Mangani was speaking when a three member delegation led by a South Africa based Lasher Tools company Export Manager Niel Walker paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

Mr. Mangani said Zambia remains a preferred investment destination in Africa despite the prevailing global financial crisis.

He stated government has put in place good policies which have made the country attractive to foreign investment.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Walker commended government for demonstrating commitment in the fight against counterfeit products.

He pledged his company’s continued investment in Zambia .

  1. I’m not sure about the level of commitment mentioned. I think it couldn’t be further from the truth. Zambia is full of counterfeit products and a number of them actually come from South Africa. For example, many of the motor vehicle spares, electronic appliances and media such as CDs and DVDs are counterfeit.

  2. Zambia has no copyrights intellectual works piracy and counterfeit products monitoring and enforcement. Zambia is flooded with all sorts of poor counterfeit products from musical systems, TV sets, other electronic goods, fridges, stoves etc. so Ba Mangani learn to tell the truth. even musicians they sell their works to studios and pirate their own music.

  3. …Zambia is a prefered investment destination despite the prevailing global financial crisis …Iam wondering as to wether this is awell researched comment or he talked without thinking.

  6. Bushe namumfwako ati Zambian Airways has suspended its operations siting operational problems. How could the Government fail to protect Zambian Airways honestly? Its the closest we came to having a national airline. Ba Nchito nabo all the money from task force could not be re-invested in the airline. :d8-|

  7. This is a good idea but i wonder why our GVT only wants to protect Investors all the time But i have never head the try to protect Zambian employees who are being taken advantage of by the same Investors.Poor conditions of service, low salaries, poor safety.Surely how do you protect a stranger and leave your own children.Even the bibble says you should start from Jerusalem.Iknow they have personal interests in these unscrupulous investors. For somebody’s infor,Zambians are not Unscrupulous **==

  9. I thought I was the only one that noticed that zambian is bootleg counterfeit paradise. Thanks to the chinese everything is of poor quality and probably a hazard to health. I walked into one of zambia’s most famour boutiques only to find clothes that looked like they were chewed by a camel missing some teeth and funny enough these were overpriced rubbish. Don’t people know that certain fibres found in counterfeit clothes due to lack of quality control are lethal? Even the torah warns of mixing cotton fibres being dangerous.

  10. Dear Bloggers , Chinese are not to blame they make both good and poor quality . But the fly by night businessmen who go to china with only $5000 or $10,000 settle for poor quality . I have been to china on several occasions and believe me you those guys have good quality stuff and I wonder where zambians get the poor quality stuff from which they sell to their brothers and sisters by making them pay through their noses. china export to the all of europe and USA .so I do not agree with people saying that chinese stuff is bad.

  11. #20…

Have you been to Kamwala?? who own those shops?? they are chinese. yes they bring poor quality to Zambia even to the whole Africa. They know business Segmentation …so poor quality for Zambia and you president LPM appreciated them that they are meant for poor Zambians

    Horaraaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! :-j:-j:-j:-j:-j:-j:-j:-j

Do we all really to go to China to verify your insinuations.Germany has suffered prey in that country hands in that regard and so has microsoft and the rst .wat are you defending ?are you a Chinese ?

  13. you know what #22 i can back up what blood diamond says , i live in north America , but am Zambian , the quality if Chinese stuf this is is by far , by far if higher standards that the c.r,a.p being sent to Zambia …these business men and chicks from zed simply look at at quantity as a result quality suffers .
in China you would have grades of produact , A, B, C, D, E , a zambian would chose the e grade coz he will make a huge profit ,how ever how long will he keep that up if the s.h.i.t be buys falls appart within days ..no return customers over 70 % of my stuff in my house is from china but the quality my friend is 110% super

  14. the stuff the chinese make for the high street stores in the west are of very high quality. Not fikatanta filya batwala ku kamwala. when you wash it once, if it is a pair of trousers, ninshi kashala ka don’t touch my shoes.

  15. Blaming the chinese on the poor quality of goods is out of the question. These guys are just meeting the demands of different people with varying economic base.Chinese dont force Zambian traders to buy the low quality goods but they choose in order to rip super/abnoemal profits at the expense of quality.I have high quality chinese goods that are standing the test of time.Even in Kamwala, there are shops with high quality chinese products.

  16. Mr Mangani zambia has already done more than enough to protect investors to the extent of sacrificing the dignity of its citizens – workers at shoprite used to get K18000 a week not so long ago,is that a salary?when will we ever empower the common zambian, give advantages to our businessmen(every developed country is doing it!!)and stop relying solely on foreign investment?as for those counterfeit goods, they wouldn’t be out there if the quality control board was vigilant enough!!! :-l:-l:-l
