Demand for Condoms increase in Mazabuka

Share

The demand for condom use in Mazabuka has increased tremendously among the sexually active group.

Total Control of the Epidemic (TCE) Mazabuka District Deputy Commandant, Jabez Kanyanda said today that his organisation has doubled its allocation of condoms in Itebe- Kafue gorge area to 4 million from the previous two million.

Mr. Kanyanda said the increase in the condom use meant people are now responding well to the HIV/AIDs prevention measures.

He said TCE will continue supplementing government’s efforts in sensitising people on the dangers of contracting HIV/AIDS by providing rural communities with information that would prevent the wide spread of HIV/AIDs such as the Prevention of the Mother to Children transmission of the pandemic, bad traditional practices such as sexual cleansing and conducting HIV/AIDs mobile tests.

Mr. Kanyanda further said his organisation has embarked on a sensitisation programme targeting Commercial sex workers in the district.

He said the increase in Commercial sex in the district is worrying his organisation and should somehow be stopped. Mr. Kanyanda said high poverty levels and high unemployment are attracting most women to engage in commercial sex business.

He urged the Immigration Department to investigate the high influx of Zimbabwean women reportedly tactifully availing themselves to clients in Guest houses and bars.

Mr. Kanyanda said unconfirmed reports suggest that some Zimbabwean women are allegedly engaging in commercial sex business.

  1. I hope they are also affordable!! How much are condoms in Zambia ?? Seriously I would like to know!! Anyone at Zed with the Answer??

  2. Hey Jamaco, what’s up? Hows’s been your day?
Zambians & Condoms? Mmmmh…it has never really been a good combination, has it?:-?

  3. Hey #1-4 Zambians get cheap and poor quality condoms and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are not even expired. Don’t lie to people that condoms give 100% protection. These things fail. Am actually concerned about this story. What happened to Abstinence which is 100% reliable

  4. #5 Anonymous might be right…I have read stories of condoms being donated to African countries after failing certain dermatologic tests in European labs.

  5. Ili Ilyashi lyalinkosela ilyama condoms Coz Ine condom or no condom Sex before Marriege does not please God.So I will go for Abstainance, but Iam not saying you should not use it No!

What?? Do you really know what time it is? I do not want to think that one of your arms is larger than the other 😕 Although that would be a good alternative!! For some just an appetizer !! Oops did I say something wrong :o:o:o:o

  7. “The latest UNAIDS Report estimated that 33 million people around the globe are living with HIV; 22 million in Sub-Saharan Africa alone. Around 2.7 million new HIV infections occurred worldwide in 2007. However, encouraging new data suggests there have been significant gains in preventing new infections in several African countries with high prevalence rates.”

With the above story and this one cited, it is clear that the HIV/AIDS message has begun making sense in the minds of people. There is improvement, but let us seek to protect girls/boys from using CONDOMS by teaching them to choose abstinence.

On 11-05-1987,the London Times printed a very powerful article in which it accused the world health organisation(WHO),of setting off the Aids epidemic through its mass smallpox innoculation in Africa and other third world countries during 1960’s.
Although the article appeared to be well-reseached,others went further and discovered that it was not these innoculation that were resposinble at all.
In an artcle entitled “WHO murdered Africa” by William Campbell Douglass, the writer points out “that the tile of this article is not a question but a statement”

  9. Jamaco
Wilansenkesha Mudala. So you mean you have not heard of pipo who have not done it before,Or who have chosen to abstain,or who have vowed not to do it before marriege.Iam now getting worried…Oh! you said walyupa mudala ayi.Anyway mudala Iam not saying that Iam perfect, but I have told myself not ukutolauka. As that issue of ukuboko I will not say anything coz I dont want to sound rightous, all Ican say is it depends with your level of christianity.

  10. Jamaco not uku dissinga Matworld, iwe. He’s really a nice guy.

Otherwise this topic is controversial, I think I’ll leave it for the momment…kuti wa ponta.:)>-

  11. On “… (TCE) Mazabuka District Deputy Commandant, Jabez Kanyanda said today that his organisation has doubled its allocation of condoms in Itebe- Kafue gorge area to 4 million from the previous two million”, are these allocation numbers per month or year?
There is a worry as many people might be using the condoms for other activities like playing with them as balloons for fun. Also, many people may be lazy instead of working by spending all their time using the condoms for their intended purpose. Thus, instead of rushing to conclusions like “the increase in the condom use meant people are now responding well to the HIV/AIDs prevention measures” let us carry out studies/research on this?

  12. well atleast if they can go for,Abstainance the atleast they are using condoms, like they say prevention is better than cure.

    27. your flag ndolic, I have proposed somewhere that GRZ must consider helping Mazabuka with a status of a city as it has advanced greatly through the opening of the Nickel Mine and other businesses. The number of residents ther has also been increasing and the infrastructure though mediocre as been up on the rise.

Anyhow, let us see who things will go.

  15. @ Matworld-Nice guy! I get you ^:)^

As from my side Enough Respect!!

    @Nine Chale

I knew it from the start that Matworld-Nice guy! is my Fav here!! Teti mbabifye iyo!! [-x

  16. I know its difficult to abstain but i expected people to be involved in projects which can sustain them financially, than date someone than risking with expired condoms. we all know the consiquences, we are draining our man power ,educated and youths to the graves leaving street kids with no guidance.

  17. The news papers in Australia and New Zealand are comfirming that the Aids virus did not come from the Green Monkey in Africa. Many experts say it was created in the laboratory by combining the two deadly retroviruses i.e.the bovine leukaemia virus from the cow-(BLV),and the visna virus from the sheep. The BLV is present in dairy herd in New Zealand and other countries. The papers are reporting that the belief is that the virus was imported into our country through Friesia cow and has been spread through vaccination using the same needle on each cow

  18. Meastro
added the sugar plantation and its subsidiaries na ba BHAGOO.But thing is ,most of those guest houses are more utilised for SHAKAFUSWING more than anything else.

  20. 1984 Viruses are too small to be engineered by mankind. Your paranoia is not shared by most because HIV virus is too versatile to be created by man. Men do not create diseases they only contain and modify them, I am yet to know any scientist that has ever created a disease. Saying the HIV virus was created by men is just an excuse for promiscuity and looking for a scapegoat for something with a simple explanation.

  21. Good show tonga bulls & im sure we expect number of children being born in mazabuka this year i guess. Congrats the bulls!

  22. our nation has been hypocritic over condoms for a long time but it’s good to see that reality is finally creeping in:people have sex:it is what it is. :):):)

  23. #44
Am not a medical doctor,i just quote from what i have read. One thing i know is that there is a plan out there to reduce the world population.

    INTELLECTUAL

  26. Is it good news that people are misusing condoms? 4 million condoms per month, divided by 2000 sexually active population is alot of ubuchende you people. I don’t think those people in Kafue gorge have energy remaining for farming. Instead of promoting people to use their energy in the farms, you are giving them tools for bed-work? Mwaba shani kanshi mweba bantu imwe?
    [-(

  27. Ubuchende bwakale nakale, what is perpetuating the scurge in sub sahara is the pornography they are pirating. But anyway, ku latambako fye. One can not say much on this issue since without sex ngatakwaba blogg. So ine ni zee.

  28. I think its because the Zimbabwens girls are giving discounts. Bye one get one free or Two for the price of one. They also allow their clients to collect points, then the next time its free.

However, its good that our pipo are learning about safe S-X

    what do you all think.

  29. #71 – The answer is no! Nyele ni nature mudala (i assume you are male). So VIVA Mazabuka residents VIVA! At leasst they using protection whether they are safe or not the mentality is right.

  30. # 71,
Practically speaking, do you know that it is more difficult to have sex than to abstain?

In my case, I can stay without having sex for years! Any how, to those that are engulfed with lust, they can’t.

  31. Wait a minute! I think condoms have contributed immensely to the spread of HIV! What do you think, bloguyz?:-?:-?:-?

  32. #66, It is not only Tongas who like womanising, even these other tribes do womanise too! Please, lets not dwell much about other tribes. It really hurts to be singled out, you know.[-(
(For your own info. I am Ushi from Luapula Ntondo):-w

  33. @73.sHiMaPePo: What difficuties do you have in having sex?

@62.Baby C: The demand means people have become conscious. Use of condoms should be supported.
    @12.Matworld-Nice guy: Are you serious?

  34. to me it is very simple – if you want to abstain then do so, if you want to play then protect yourself. Period

  35. sHiMaPePo

Just wait a minute. You say you can stay without sex for years? With full consent from your wife? Now that is unwise, you are exposing your self to unnecessary risks. Being a sHiMaPePo it would be sad to be ‘helped’. But then tell us what is the catch?

  36. sHiMaPePo

Be very careful if your wife in those years of celebacy does not raise any protests (directly or indirectly). If that be the case, you are already being helped. you were helped or you are being helped.

  37. # 81,

Good point. But I should hasten to you that I am not yet married. I mean, with my fiance.

The point that I am trying to put forward is that, if you are not in matrimony, you ought to abstain, and if you are in wedlock, you should stick to your spouse period!

    NEXT!

  38. #5 you sound quite negative though trying indicate some facts. We should appreciate what the story has unfolded. Remmember that HIV can not be fought single handedly; it must be from various angles. Condoms of course are not 100% but that %age they offer must be appreciated. Of course the story originater is not coming from a backyard organisation but from that organisation that is mindifull of what it provides; expiry dates are obviously looked at. Try to be positive when it comes to global issues of concern like HIV.

  39. $-) BA ZAMBIA SURE U GOT DOLLARS TO WASTE ON SEX BUT ENOUGH 4 DEVELOPMENT …SO ILLOGICAL…[-x BUT HEALTHY THOUGH….:”>
