A Zambian was among the 155 survivors of the US Airways Airbus A320 plane that crash landed  into the Hudson river in New York on Thursday.

Joseph Moyo 45, of 51 Mosi-o- Tunya road in Livingstone survived along with other passengers of the US plane crash.

Mr. Moyo told the Zambian Embassy officials from Washington DC that he was on a business trip when the accident occurred.

He said he had not sustained any injuries during the crash landing adding that he had undergone medical examination just like everyone else..

Mr. Moyo is expected to travel back to Zambia next week.

First secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian Embassy in Washington DC Ben Kangwa disclosed the development to ZANIS in a press statement.

The US Air Bus A320 on Thursday made a crash- landing minutes out of LaGuardia airport , when both its engines apparently disabled by a flock of birds.

LT 2008 Award Winner. =; for Zambia in 2011.

  2. All the best to Mr Moyo. Planes crashing on water usually result in higher casualties and fatalities than those that crash onto the ground. This was truly a miracle.

Thanks and praise to the almighty Lord for sparing all those lives.

  3. Mr. Moyo, we thank God for saving your life. Seek God and let Him show you why He made your survive….may your family be blessed to!

aaaahh! Ben kangwa is in USA? thats why we dont see him eeeeh!

  5. He promised to be with us till the end of the age, no doubt about it coz God is Amighty. But one is still troubling me, how big was the flock of birds to set off both engines? There should have been some negligence i think.

  6. I guess the day that he lands @ lsk inter airport RB and his mini stars will be @ the airport to welcome him and that day will be a pulic holiday. **==

  7. LT please delete comment #25 for God’s sake!

Praise be to God for sparing the whole crew from perishing, including Mr. Moyo.

  8. #23 and #24 you guys, you make me hungry and home sick, with your names ,the T bones ,the spring chickens and the chicken in the basket,OH MY GOD AM HOME SICK,SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

I’m sure when he returns to Zambia the man will be given a diplomatic passport and RB, Teta and Co. will claim it is because of the policies of their MMD gov’t that saved this Zambian man.

Meanwhile, he should consider writting a book which can be turned into a movie script based on a true story (that is if the story is true).

Anyway God is great, when it is not your time to go nothing can stand in your way with God by your side.

  10. #25 In this modern age, you cant lie about public issues when the technology is there to verify things. If Moyo was telling lies, the world will easily know. You can easily trace all names of those on board that aircraft.

So did you go to chuch after your overnight prayers with some of the BLOGGERS? I did go to chaliti and prayer for all the blogger around the world ,even those who have over studied the HOLY BOOK, :)>-

  12. We thank God for the miracle and we should also understand that the developed countries have invested the tax payers money in life saving equipment, services etc. I imagined if the crash had happened in Zambia it was really going to be a tragedy, the roads are bad, no emergency services, vehicles, equipment and personnel , it would have depended on the goodwill of zambian citizens to take the situation in their own hands by trying to save people with no equipment. It’s time for our Govt to use the tax payers money with meaningful ventures. God bless Zambia.

  13. #30 Don’t even waste your breath trying to pump sense into such people like #25. Their minds are so seared with ignorance and they have no capacity for reasoning. They manifest the character of a wizard who is not in need of any counsel and are therefore pose a threat to the community of civilised beings.

  14. **== are everywhere!!!!!!! Even on crushing planes. You’re blessed man, I suppose God has something serious for you all survivors. My advice[-o<[-o<^:)^^:)^

  15. Makes one wonder about the extent to which cash strapped Z Airways was cutting corners on security, safety and staff training measures to save money.

  16. thank God for His mercy and grace, for saving Moyo and everyone else on board. neo this is why i hate flying, sembe kwenze alternative means of travelling sembe ne leka ndeke

  17. The whole story sends chills over my spine.

Ba Moyo, praise your God and Saviour daily..

  18. #52,
Ni chifukwa chake ine pokwela ndeke ninkhala na ‘mixed feelings’ excitement na mantha at the same time. sometimes its a nauseating experience, kansi once seated first drink, be it breakfast or whatever time ni beer…..and beer.. and beer until they stop giving me any… after all its part of the ticket fare…Nivoma calling out ba hostess.. ati I want a beer, they do give me… sometimes they give me beer lite, ba chipuba..LOL haaahah =))=))>:)>:)

  19. Let god be exhaulted! indeed mercy said no. Mr Moyo, may every door God has your inheritance open for you and your family by force this year. Numb 54. please keep your unsavoury comments to yourself.

  20. Nokutemwa ukulomba impiya kwine mwakulasangwa muma accident.

“Joseph Moyo, president of the Lifestyle Health Foundation (LHF) and a Livingstone resident is in America to finalise the registration process of his Non-Governmental Organisation which is funded by one of the US organisations”.

Instead of just working hard in Zambia, mwaikalilafye ukulomba lomba. Mwakulafwa.

  21. God is Zambian!! He would let one of His own die at the time the world at large and Zambia in particular needs him so much. To God be the praise!

#57 Watch you tongue, do not (ever) speak ill of the annointed of God. This man has a mission and it shall not be brought short by calamity.

  22. #58. What I am saying is true. The guy went to ask for money (READ TODAY’S POST) from Americans for his so called NGO. When he comes to Zambia with money, he will pocket all the money pretending that he is helping the poor. You should know the tricks Zambians are doing now.

  23. MWAPUSUKENI PO MUKWAYI….BUT DONT FORGET TO FIND A LAWYER,THIER MIGHT BE SOME COMPERSATION INVOLVED IN HERE.

  24. #61, the Post does not allege that Moyo will pocket monies realise from his trip to meet with his sponsors. This is just you trying to cheap below-the-belt blow for a man who is working his socks off to help mitigate the suffereings besetting the vulnerable in our soceity. Pls leran to give credit where its due and get off from the comfort of an armchair critic.

  25. #63. From the way you are writing, you seam to have lost touch of what is happening in Zambia. There are so many NGOs in Zambia now than ever before. This is simply because thats where there is quick money which you don’t sweat for. Its like the churches; thats where people are reaping millions at the expense of the poor. I know several people who own NGOs and ophanages and gets millions from donars but they pocket all the money making the children suffer at their ophanages. Pasters and NGO directors have built houses / mansions at the expense of the poor. So please ba muntuza, get to know the dealings of people in Zambia this time.

  26. Both the cockpit voice and flight data recorders were recovered in “excellent” condition from a crippled US Airways jetliner that landed safely on the Hudson River
and a Zambian voice can be heard in the background saying ” Nakwelela nji ndeke ne o?”
:d (last part is a joke)

  27. #62, I feel pity for you, thats not fair because the meals are included in the fare + all the booze.. and this is in economy class,Ok some airlies allow you to purchase… so I just buy MUTATAKUYA.. I am really scared of these 23 and a half hour flights for me to reach Zedi.. Kanshi kukolwa silentlyfrm the go… and drink beer on demand..What I am telling you is true.. I mean economy class…So kansi kulibe kutaya nthawi. akuti manzi, manzi, tea. coffee, ine awe , beer pliizi, and they do give me. All the turbulences ine nishi nili ziiii muli movie.. kanshi ni mantha yakuti any minute kuti nafwa ka!!!Banyanya, na pilllow kumozi ni kulipila???? :o:o:o:ob-(b-(b-)b-)

  28. #64, the few NGOs that are run only to profit the directors are not represetantive of the all NGO. I cant cite a list of the genuine NGOs as long as my arm that are benefitting the poor pipo. Am not going to buy into a argument dashed by a pint of malice and blinded by myopic view of the bigger picture. Let those who are doing a good job do it. I fully comprehend the situation on the ground but will not be swayed to agree any less that is fact.

  29. Teacher asked Tim, “why is your cat in school today?” Tim says (crying), I heard daddy tell mommy ” I’m gonna eat that P U S S Y when the kid go to school.

  30. MUTUNZA you are short sighted. Most people leading NGOs are there to make money for themselves, proberbly this survivor is no different.Ubuntungwa mu Zambia is right.

    ONE ZAMBIA ONE PONDAPONDA

  31. It has been reported that this story is false. “BE” magazine has retracted this story. I belive you should do the same. 3ABN Television has also retracted. Please do the right thing and retract. God is waiting.
