Unknown Player Gets Shock CHAN Call-up

Share

Zambia Under-20 midfielders Musonda Munaile and Nathan Sinkala have been overlooked in a provisional member-24 CHAN team that includes a shock call-up for unknown City of Lusaka striker Peter Chilemena.

Munaile of Young Zanaco and Sinkala from Green Buffaloes were the two outstanding players at the 2008 Cosafa Youth Championships and Sadc Games both held in South Africa last December but have both failed to make it on the CHAN team that goes into camp on Wednesday in Lusaka.

Chilemena, son of Faz executive committee member Marcha Chilemena, unlike Faz vice president Emmanuel Munaile’s son Musonda, has been drafted into the team from the blues with no distinguished and traceable junior international record.

Meanwhile, they are recalls in the team for ex-Under-23 defender Sanida Zulu from Chamibishi including his club mate and ex-Under-20 defensive midfielder Patrick Kasunga whose earlier promising junior career was hampered by injury.

Also recalled is Power Dynamos defender Perry Mubanga including his two club mates; midfielder Joseph Sitali and striker Elson Mkandawire.

Winger Allen Mukuka who recently joined Zanaco from demoted Nkana has also been handed his first recall since playing for Zambia in November 2007 in a 1-0 away defeat against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

Meanwhile the team is expected to leave for South Africa over the weekend ahead of a friendly match against Bafana Bafana to be played on January 27 at Super Stadium in Pretoria.

  1. Marcha has gone to FAZ as a source of income and ultimate survival. He is even driving a Toyota Corrola from Japan now. Look at Marcha before he went to FAZ. We also know why he supported Kalusha Bwalya without so much shame and regret. Football in Zambia is now in shambles and it shall never recover from the nose dive if the staus quo continues:-?8-}:-?~X(@-):-w

  2. Time and chance happen to all. it’s not an automatic description of corruption if the University chancellor’s son gets matriculated in the same university. give the boy a chance….and watch the space…

  3. Time and chance happen to all. it’s not an automatic description of corruption if the University chancellor’s son gets matriculated in the same university. give the boy a chance….and watch the space…

  4. We are still in the past of playing names, Chilemena, Munaile. Lets demand for a selection procedure to be put in place.

  5. Bravo Coaches! Whether son of Munaile or not, drop them if they cannot prove themselves. Whether known to the public or not, as long as they are good, call them. Besides, to whom are they unknown? That is what scouting for talent is.

  6. Anything associated with Marcha is very questionable. I vividly remember the way he behaved when Andy lost elections in 2001(at znbc).I also remember the way he behaved during and after Andy’s funeral.Whenit was reported in The Post that the national team travelled on a shoe-string budget to their outing and had to spend many hours without food in Amsterdam, Marcha without shame paraded other football officials to deny what we believed was very true. Some unholy happenings at Football House have Marcha’s hand. And now this selection of his little known son, I doubt at the rate he is going if he will not end up in prison?

  7. God help us, this corruption is killing our football now, what has gone wrong in Zambia. Even if it is poverty mwe bantu???

  8. Give the Coach and the boy a chance.Just because you chaps abroad have never heard of him should not warrant his exclusion.Like #9 says, why jump to conclusion of corruption.

  9. I guess these young players’ parents are trying to live their dreams through their sons. Any local african player strives to be like or better than Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure or Drogba….but fellas do it in a transparent way.

I see Marcha and Munaile’s eyes rolling with $$$

  10. This heading is misleading. LT, how did you get the club and player’s names if the player is unknown. Perhaps you wanted to say untested? :d

  11. #14 Philemon Mulala died a long time ago, and so did his elder brother Kaunda. They both played for mighty mufulira wanderers in the late 80’s before they left for the south. Where have you been?

  12. Corruption is bad at whatever level but i think the story by LT is to suggestive or rather sounds biased. Try to be more professional, don’t interpret everything for us. If the players do not impress the coaching staff, they should be dropped whoever their their parent is.

  13. I thought I needed to spare Kalusha and his cronies, but I think if these guys are left unchecked FAZ will soon be in the gabbage basket. Firstly, Macha sounds so dull and imbalanced when faced with matters requiring brains. All he knows well is :-@ Could Nkonde, the lawyer, please talk to these guys. It now looks like it’s scandle after scandle and circus after circus.

  14. #14 the last time I heard of him he was in RSA. Some body told me he passed away, though I am not sure don’t quote me wrongly.

  15. When my son started playing football at 6, he hardly got in the team. The manager had a son who was pants but hey, he always got selected ahead of my son. Immediately we forced him (The manager) out, my son started playing and now he is at Leicester academy.

    It happens konse fye bane.

  16. # 11 and 9 wonderful comments. The fact that he is Chilemenas son should not let his skills go begging. Let the young man prove himself on the pitch. Unknown names have been called for national assignments before, not just in football but so many disciplines, no negative feelings have been expressed, but just because the chap is related to a FAZ member, everyone wants to make it an issue. Lets give praise where its due and give the young man a benefit of doubt so that he proves himself

  17. Guys they are going to CHAN as tourists. I don’t see the right legs being rounded up with this comedy going on at Footbal Hse. With people like Masha?

  18. LOL..great stuff… Peter Chilemena for CHAN…thats something…we need players like this dude..lets see, how many players do u have out there with a Bachelor of Arts from our beloved UNZA??? I’m sure he’s gatta be the first :d
& u chaps r saying sh*t like corruption, thats some bul*&&it…the boy gatta skillz..

  19. We now need Charlie Cool’s sons to play for Zambia. They are better the bunch of players we have now. We need more good exposed kids to try out for the National team.

  20. Faz is a big joking association, these two unkown kids made it to the team because of corruption.Period! No wonder Zambia´s Fifa ranking is falling each day cos of selfish people like Kalu who have no idea whatsoever how to run the game.Hanif would have made a better Faz than Kalu.

  21. Its not strange that the Chilemena boy has finally made it into the team, I have been to matches where Marcha is also in attendance, all he talks about is how good his son is.

I smell a rat, at least I hope the chap can prove himself uku baleya!
aint never seen him play, and definately aint heard o him, apart from the loud mouth o his old man.
o the best mwaiche – kukosa.

  22. Zambia is becoming the Nigeria, where powerful and players want to force their sons and relatives into the team. Thank God for a sturborn coack like Renard.

  23. #20 Its you who hve not been on mother earth.Phillimon Mulala is alive a kick in South Africa, he was in Zambia from about July -September.Yes his Elder Brother Kaunda aka Buuni passed away.

  24. This is not KALUNKUNGU United ,Lets follow the FAZ rules regarding how player are selected. FAZ is run with tax payers money…..it is not a family kantemba football org.:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

  25. Time & again the Zambian “beautiful” football game exonarates me. it’s a circus. For Kalu I have said it before, he is living a lie, full of self, too much ego centricism. his eyes on CAF after scandalously failining to get into COSAFA.He has nose dived our team as coach and FAZ chief. what else do we need. Hanif is the best bet to get us out of this mess. OUT KALU, though a great player once – Not fit for FAZ chief as failed to stamp out the rot.Bane WorldCup2010 ni next year pa South & we wont be there for sure.

  26. I have personally watched the boy playing. He is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery far from playing national team football.Even a grade 7 call up can do a better job than Marchas son.The father wants the son to be not what the boy really wants.Remember Marcha is the most corrupt in FAZ now, followed by Great Kalufumo.

  27. PLEASE LET US GIVE THIS BOY A CHANCE REGARDLESS WHOSE SON HE IS THEN WE JUDGE PA LAST.I REMEMBER GREATS PLAYERS LIKE PAULO MALDINE WHOSE FATHER WAS THE COACH OF ITALY NATIONAL TEAM BUT TILL PERFORMED TO THE FULLEST AND WAS CAPTAIN OF THE TEAM

  28. When Munaile’s son was drafted into the U-20 squad there was a bit of uproar though not so much compared to the above. How was his performance? The writer in the main story sums it as “great” and wonders why he’s not in the provisional squad! Why should we trouble ourselves with a provisional selection?? Renald will sieve the boy and and the nation will know whether he is ‘something’ or ‘nothing.

  29. #39 I support your your thought, almost believed i was alone who thought Hanif would have done something different, but alas these Chilemenas and his fellow goonies benefited from some South African lady’s money and now we have Kalusha in football house, man who knows what this guy is doing?????.
Today we have Chilemena’s son in the team!!!! Gentlemen sure, when are ever going to be fair to our under privalledged brothers!!!!
Give the people from the rural areas some chance!!! please

  30. Katwishi, fili ukotuleya……….chaotic happenings in football house will never cease to amuse me. Marsha is a disaster in that executive to say the list.

  31. Marcha has been behaving like he’s sons agent for ages,am sure he’l fail just like his father has for a very long time.Am sure Renard is just doing it to shut Marcha up. “Ukupesha lunshi kunya patatu”

  32. I Have Played With Peter At All College Competitions For The Past Three Years,His Been A Good Player For UNZA.If He Was Picked By His Performance At College Competition,Then Many Especially From The Copperbelt Should Be Called To This National Team!

I Stand To Be Corrected,Chilemena Is No National Team material.

  33. This is all Kalusha Bwalya’s fault, all the free kicks he scored in his hey days have been erased by his poor administrating skills.Kalu is pathetic so are his boys, abena Munaile,Marcha,Pivoty,Bonny e.t.c.

By the way to you all logged in,Kalu Stars, the team our FAZ chief runs has been stopped from using UNZA grounds because the team has not paid rentals for the past 12 months.

  34. Ba Bola forget! You have not watched this boy, remember we have to qualify for the wolrd cup next year.Lets not take chances.

  35. I have wathed the boy at amature level believe me he is far better than most so called profesionals.Infact he could have played big league soccer long ago but his father insisted that he finishes school at UNZA first.

  36. It was in the 1980s when Phillimon Mulala and Evans Kaunda made good footballing.. I enjoyed listening to their good performance during my hey-days at Munali Sec Sch:d
