Govt. urges its workers to change their sex lifestyles

Share

A senior government official has urged government workers to avoid engaging into careless lifestyles in order to lessen their chances of contracting the deadly HIV virus, which leads to AIDS.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Assistant Human Resources Director, John Moyo, said when workers lead responsible lifestyles, government would cut down on money it spends on conducting funerals of officers who die from HIV/AIDS related illnesses.

Mr. Moyo expressed sadness that the HIV/AIDS pandemic was claiming mostly the most productive age group in the country.

He noted that responsible citizens could help reduce the HIV/AIDS prevalent rate from the current 14.3 per cent to a single digit percentage.

Mr. Moyo was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when he officially opened a one day HIV/AIDS sensitization workshop for Ministry of Information members of staff.

He said careless lifestyles were frustrating government efforts of reducing the prevalent rate of HIV/AIDS.

He warned workers against having multiple sexual partners because this led to the spread of the pandemic.

Zambia is among the countries in the Sub-Saharan African region that are seriously hit by the pandemic.

Mr. Moyo further challenged the participants to go for Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT), which would enable them, know their status and make informed decisions about their future.

He reiterated that government, through the Ministry of Health, is giving free Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ARTs) to people living with AIDS.

And in a vote of thanks, ZANIS HIV/AIDS Peer Educator, Loveness Chuumbwe said the workshop was an eye opener and educative to the workers.

Ms. Chuumbwe encouraged the participants to the workshop to share the knowledge they acquired from the workshop with others so that the country can move towards reducing the prevalence rate further.
The Global Funds has provided K50 million to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services for HIV/AIDS capacity building workshops, from which 200 employees would benefit.

Hope you mean the money we have spent on sending VJ, ka Chiluba, and others to SA.

This sharing of information is very important as many of us Zambians are illiterate. Above all, we need to practice what has been outlined of leading lives from from multiple sexual partners instead of just talking always without implementing these things we learn and discuss.

Yes, together we all Zambians can.

  4. It is easy to advise others about good sex morals than to do yourself. Sex issues are difficult. Maybe the chap has been abusing some girls before he could give them jobs. Remember sex eya tamfishe Adam mwibala!

  5. MMD GOVT HAS BETTER THINGS TO DO RATHER PREACHING TO ZAMBIANS ABOUT THEIR SEXUALITY…FOR GOD’S SAKE LEAVE PEOPLE’S PRIVACY OUT…

  6. Not rocket science…however, Goverment needs to also concentrate on promoting healthy lifestyles. There’s a beer culture in Zambia that has seen an increase in heart related diseases such as ‘High blood Pressure/Diabetes’. Diabetes for instance is classified as chronic and is on par with Hiv/Aids as they both require regular treatment. People in Zambia particularly men…no offense have swollen tummies from alcohol consumption. It is at this point in time that the notion of healthy living should be promoted. I strongly feel that the number of people suffering from heart related diseases/obesity…could be on par with the number of people dying from Hiv/Aids. :-w

  7. Electrify the blood and this kills all known virus, bacteria and microbs including HIV. Check on sotaintruments dot com for the products which can be used for the same

  8. With attitudes like these soon the drug dealers in zambia will start peddling ARV’s instead of class A drugs. Theres Aids and yet zambians want to still shag the living daylights out of eat other? Even professional funeral mourners have pot bellies because of all the funerals they are eating at[-(

  12. (Sorry this topic is not related to the story) Today marks 90 days since this Govt was elected into power. They have finished their 3 months probation and as Zambians we have a right to analyse their performance during this timeframe with all fairness. I have been searching for the MMD campaign manifesto and have not got a hold of it ,infact the website for President Banda is down ,anyhow we should still assess their performance so far.

  18. There are too many players in lusaka and Zambia. The real problem especially in lusaka is that people sleep around and they sleep around with the same people, cancelling out each other one by one. Players stop playing
