Kazungula has failed to exploit global demand for honey – DC Siasuntwe

Share

Kazungula District Commissioner Fred Siasuntwe says his district has failed to exploit the global demand for honey.

Mr. Siasuntwe said it was government’s concern that the district has not taken advantage of honey and its by-products despite its (the district) great potential for harvesting the product.

He challenged Kazungula residents to take advantage of the presence of bees by engaging in the harvest of honey.

The DC said this when he officially opened a Bee Keeping and Entrepreneurship training workshop sponsored by the Technical, Entrepreneurship and Vocational, Education Training (TEVET) at Mwampole Lodge in Kazungula today.

He said the technical support provided by TEVET was proof that government policies were effective to economically empower citizens regardless of their status.

And Livingstone District Commissioner Francis Chika said the disintegration of the formal sector had necessitated the development of the informal sector the cushion the impact of economic hardships on people in rural areas.

Mr. Chika said the informal sector had great potential for expansion and positive development if necessary measures were put in place by both government and the private sector.

He called on the public to change their mindset of preferring formal jobs by embracing opportunities in the informal sector.

  1. I also supprt the presence of bees, thank you government for providing the bees necessary for international marketing of honey

    • Hi Sony Eric. Long time my brother. Are you sure you know what you’re saying? I think we should be thanking God for the bees and not the government.

    • Yeah… such is life, at least people will get back to being innovative and start business ventures, because the legal system is busy doing their work. S this Kazungula District Commissioner Fred Siasuntwe should just create an environment that will stimulate honey business then all should be fine… the loop holes are being closed people are soboring up now… Thank Jesus
