AIDS cure lurking in our rivers?

crocodile Chief Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka has called on the Ministry of Health to consider allowing HIV patients to be taking Anti Retro-Viral drugs (ARVs)together with crocodile fats which he claims to be equally a treatment for HIV and AIDs.

The Chief told his subjects during a Ministry of Information sponsored HIV and Aids sensitisation meeting held at his palace yesterday that some people living with HIV were responding well to treatment using crocodile fats because the ‘medicine’ was effective.

He claimed that his subjects, who were using crocodile fats as treatment, had been cured of the disease.

“I know the people that are taking crocodile fats instead of ARVs and are responding to treatment except I can not reveal their names. So apart from ARVs, the crocodile fats can also cure HIV and Aids,” said Chief Mwanachingwala amid cheers from his subjects.

The Chief observed that there is need for the Ministry of Health to seriously consider carrying out laboratory tests to ascertain his claims to save many lives especially those that are disadvantaged by long distances to the district hospitals administering ARVs treatment.

And Chief Mwanachingwala has called on the Ministry of Health to consider upgrading some rural health centres in his chiefdom to administer ART treatment to lessen problems faced by his subjects.

The Chief said long distances, coupled with lack of good nutrition, were frustrating the fight against the pandemic.

Meanwhile, village headmen in Chief Mwanachingwala’s area have urged the government to provide them with bicycles to enable them effectively contribute to the fight against HIV and AIDs.

Speaking on behalf of the village headpersons, headman Mpikwa said without addressing the mobility problems and food rations for people living with HIV, traditional rulers would find it difficult to join hands in the fight against the pandemic.

“We urge government to provide us with bicycles and food for people living with the pandemic. All these should be given to traditional rulers because they are the ones who are living with their subjects suffering from the disease,” said headman Mpikwa.

The headman also took a swipe at some Non Governmental Organisations championing the fight against HIV and AIDS who were in the habit of conducting HIV tests and abandoning people who tested positive without giving them advice on what to do next.

He complained that some people who tested positive need care, love and also income-generating activities to help them meet some of their basic needs as they undergo treatment.

    • Let the chief prove it. The Zambian Government should said some experts who should inject the Virus in the Chief. Then let him take the Medicine and he will be tested again to see if the Virus is no long in his system. Let us just see how the Chief reacts when confronted by my proposal. Talk is Cheap. If the Chief is right then Zambia will have the copyright of the long awaited cure of HIV. Then we can be sure of coming out of the economic crisis victoriously with the funds we would generate by selling this cure to the whole world.

    • You don’t want to table the chiefs proposition. Would you rather have some Stanford/Oxford degree wielding white doctor first tell you that before you can entertain it?

      Instead of suggesting that the chief should receive the virus, why not suggest that samples of the croc fats be taken for testing in a western lab to ascertain their active ingredients

    Is it curing the DISEASE? Or curing diseases associated with the AIDS (Syndrome) and the HIV that compromises someone’s immunite?

    I really need a clarification to these my concerns.

    • I hav equally heard abt the fats but i believe they cure STDs and other disease not AIDS. But balapola ukuchila ama HVs (ARVS). And these pipo tht sell these things r crooked,selling the same fats at 250pin per teaspoon…..And yet ARVs r free

    • You need to be specific mama. Not just saying “other diseases”. Which ones? These fats are just traditional remedies like any other. Wabufi uyu Chief Mwana shani uko. There is no cure for AIDS. Chapwa. If he had an STI and he got cured, well good for him, but he must learn to distinguish AIDS as a condition and an STI in isolation.

I guess thats why we believe David Livingstone discovered the Victoria falls when the tongas had the falls in their backyard for hundreds of years.     • Point of defence: I said i have heard abt the fats and tht thry cure STIs and other diseases but not AIDS…… This same croc fat is quiet expensive,its K250,000,000 per teaspoon and as u hav said,it slows down the replication of the virus and cures it at an early stage before it spreads.For yo info,its been taken to the lab by UTH Drs and its effective and cures several sexual related diseases.

    • Thank to dr. cuba for his good work I really believe HIV have cure I was HIV positive over since 1year plus before I come across a comment dr.cuba that he have cure to any disease and virus but when I saw it i have it in mind that he can’t cure HIV I just decided to give a try I contact him that night lucky to me he said yes but I don’t believe him I think it was a scam or some thing like that but I still hold on to see the work of dr.cuba if he is saying the true he ask for different things and some question about me I give him all the detail he needed and I wait to see his reply to my problem after all the things is done he ask me to go for check up I went for hiv test I cant believe I was negative the midical doctor was surprasie and doctor even ask for dr cuba email which i give to him

  11. Ther is no cure for HIV/AIDS.
    This belief will take us no where.One can benefit Quality Of Life from ARVs and basically thats it. These fats from crocodiles probably and may be, can be an alternative support to these ARVS as one never has to cease taking these ARVs. I am not discouraging ‘hope’ to those affected with this deadly disease which has come to stay..

    • I wouldn’t mind if crocs were wiped out of rivers.. they eat humans ka!. they always scared me from childhood and I got so scared of swimming in rivers as the idea of crocs was always on the back of my mind….

    • The proof is already there, people are getting better by using croccodile fats claimed the chief. May where the chief is wrong is not knowing between treatment of symptoms and curing of the disease.

    • Maybe if there is a word in AIDS/HIV called ‘remission’ one can believe that thats what happens when this ‘crocodile fat’ goes to work. Otherwise HIV/AIDS is a viral infection, remember…..????

  17. crocs have strong immune system, that is why even when the have their vicious fights in the rivers they dont die but heal so quickly. i read an article about how Australian scientist could try to make usable croc blood for cure of the virus. you people maybe i can clearly explain to you this but its true, i think there is some component that can be made to cure the virus.
    I South Africa there is a cream called REPCILLIN (made from croc fats). its very good for burns and sores. Kalaza,

  25. i don’t see why people are arguing so fervently against it, lets just push researcher to do their work and see if, the claims are true or false (in treating possibly but probably not curing anyway, some of these traditional remedies work so let them be researched what’s the harm? thats why africans hardly progress, long list of opposition before they give any thing a chance, skepticism is ok but some attitudes really need to change, is it really that impossible that these fats help? perhaps its just the chief was misquoted as saying cure instead of treat

  29. It is very interesting reading comments from bloggers above. I wish to indicate that,the Chief has a valid observation. His statement might not have been phrased in medical terminology,yet Its true that the crocodile fat has Medicinal properties.Repcillin which is herbal cream from croc fats has so been effective in treating skin diseases. It is a scientifically known fact that crocs have the strongest innate immunity of all animal species . Research aught to be encouraged to that effect provided we utilize crocodile farms as stipulated by CITES(convention on international trade in endangered species.)

  31. There are actually studies being spearheaded by Dr Adam Britton and DR Mark Merchant , They have so for gotten croc blood and fats and are investigating for a chemical that confers immunity to the croc, as they rarely have infected wounds and gaping wounds heal so fast

    • Not that I know of , the ministry of health has not sanctioned research in the crocs fat. What is there , is the sondashi formula, Mayeyacin the other one I have forgotten . These are herbal concoctions under clinical trials in Zambia for HIV?AIDS

  37. You Know, Aids is a serious desease, and if some people have found medicines that will help the majority ,it is important to encourage such efforts. this pandemic is real and will engulf thewhole population in the absence of a cure.

  38. This is a very big business idea, I will start crocodile farming and crop them for medication. For sure, rivers will be free of those dreaded amphibians. If indeed they cure virus, then thank God our Lord, He is the Saviour. Seriously, it is a challenge to medical experts and scientists in Zambia to test the chief’s hypothesis as someone suggested. Put that claim to test and see if it works.
    I doubt if cros are a main tourist attraction than elephants and other rare animals.

  39. I feel we are unnecessarily assailing this chief for nothing. Imagine how our great great parents used to get healed using herbs and other things. They were testing; using trial and error, if it works, it was adopted. Some dreamed of certain herbs that had heeling powers and when tested they worked. Chief Mwana something’s idea is not strange. After all he says he has seen people using croc’s fat to cure the virus. If it’s been observed, let it be tested scientifically, especially that the world needs a cure like today. Pessimism based on umusungu’s indoctrination, that there is no cure, will not solve things.
