ZRA donates medical items worth K10 m

Share

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has donated medical items worth K10 million to Beit Cure International Hospital of Zambia.

ZRA Director-Research and Planning Samuel Bwalya said the Authority has put in place policies that help to uplift the welfare of the vulnerable in society such as children with disability.

Dr. Bwalya commended the Hospital for the wonderful job it was doing by providing free medical treatment for poor children with disability.

He assured the hospital of ZRA’s continued support and reiterated the Authority’s willingness to offer support to the community.

And the hospital’s Executive Director, Peter Kyalo thanked ZRA for the gesture and expressed confidence that the lives of many children with disability at the hospital would be transformed.

He said there was need for stakeholders and society in general to get involved in assisting the less privileged at the hospital.

Mr. Kyala said ZRA’S generosity and commitment was exactly the kind of community help the hospital needs to remain operational.

  1. I suppose the opening sentence should read as” Following the declaration of how much profit we made and the demand from citizens to know how profits are spent, ZRA wish to divert the readers’ attention to a meagre charitable act….”

  2. I dont favour donations…..I favour policies that ensure that good things are sustainable! After over taxing us, now they even have money to donate……malabishi! Health care should be available to ALL and ALWAYS!

  3. It is immoral and sends out a very wrong signal for an arm of government that collects revenue and taxes to be seen donating money regardless of how good a cause this may be. So where exactly do we draw the line here? Someone should be fired as there seems to be a conflict of interests hidden amongst the people involved – a very clouded understanding of the role of tax and revenue collection.

  4. # 6, why cant you just be grateful , why are you so bitter. You are always suspicious, Pipo cant even help the needy any more.
    Awe mule tekanya.

  5. So that means you are collecting enough. good ! Then the government should just continue working on its policies. Please invest in the people and they will show you love in 2011.

  6. Actually thats where our money should go its not a donation ZRA you are not a private firm. our Tax is meant for such institutions. Don’t go about boasting that you have donated unless its coming from ZRA members of Staff or private firms who have used you (ZRA) as their chanel. I

  7. #7 Hi Ba Honey and gday to you to day.
Let ZRA payback to the community what they embezzle from poor tax payers and regional/global seasoned travellers like me..

  8. Ba Honey (#7),
You exibit the naivity one would expect to see in a kindergarten class. There is nothing wrong with making a donation in itself, but if I am a tax-collector, I would have the decency of asking those for whom or the owners of the taxes that I am collecting before I dish out willy nilly. It is no wonder that with shallow analysis that you demonstrate that Zambia is going nowhere.

  9. Thanx, good gesture atleast we rest assured that our taxpayers money is workin wonders than using it on useless Mfuwe fimofimo

  10. If I collect taxes and I am seen to be giving it back as soon as I have collected it, I shouldn’t really have collected it in the first place. This is a very fundamental breach of accounting and tax collecting code of ethics and some one should be fired.

  11. Sinjoko mwa mbonyi , I do not appreciate pipo calling me names, its not my fault you are a VIP
    Very Ignorant Person,
You are talking rubbish, You are the same pipo bringing my country to the ground. Watch your mouth next time.

  12. 13 Sinjoko mwa mbonyi, if it is for a good cause then thats fine, but it does not mean that the ZRA are not accountable for the money they spend or donate,

  13. Ba Honey,i saw yo complaint on the other thread, nshimipatile.OK hw r u? U knw the best thing on this site is to ignore pipo who get on yo nerves. But if it hurts u spit it out,am a victim of such so is Baby C.Efyo iya pa LT

  14. Though, the donation might seem to be small, it is a good gesture. Beit Cure international hospital is non profit organisation that does a lot of surgical operations on mostly poor children with all sorts of complications . They indeed need help.

  15. Ba Honey (#16),
You are so dull you even think this thread is about you. Sorry, please focus on the issue. If I call a tree a tree, it is not calling names but a satement of fact. So, if I say you are dull…….do the maths. Coming back to the issue, the nature of the cause does not justify the donation for the simple reason that ZRA is a tax collecting institution.

  16. #19, Zoe, mwansekesha sana . Ati Thenjiwe kalepuka, its friday.. missed your point maybe. Have a gd friday and gd weekend…

  17. Thank so much. But what is K10m in comparison to ZRA? How far will it go? Lets help build Zambia indeed….
