Share

The opposition Patriotic Front, PF, says it has intensified preparations for its participation in the 2011 general elections.

PF Spokesperson, Given Lubinda, said the party has put in place programmes in readiness for the 2011 general elections.

Mr. Lubinda told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the party is managing in its membership drive ahead of the polls.

The PF spokesperson said the party is implementing strategies to sustain its popularity in Lusaka and other parts of the country.

He castigated those calling for resignation of party leader Michael Sata, adding that they were being sponsored by the enemies of the party.

  1. #1, We need experience and level headed people. Not these kids who are political prostitutes paid by opposition political parties to bark like mad dogs. PF will do better if they can put their house in order.

  2. Sata wants to stand in 2011???? Typical! come to think about it, in the event that he won, he will be well over 80 years by the time he leaves state house! Since rationality is alien in PF, let them go ahead I only wish Zambia the best!

  3. #3 Pafwenamwine, are you honestly telling us that Sata can provide solutions to Zambia’s economy????? I bet Mcain would have won if he had contested the elections in Zambia. In the civil service, they retire people at 55 because they believe that at that age, there productivity dwindles….and you, you want to stick to someone chasing his 80th birthday! I wont talk about credentials even…..

  4. I don’t think I would vote for a party that refuses to practice democracy within its own party.

It must start with democracy within the PF for us to take them seriously as a party that will maintain the democracy we have solely enjoyed in this country.

    Let PF hold a convention.

  5. Please bro Hon Lubinda ,Let Nyama soya and King Snake rest ……the young shall rule . This is being my sincere and honest view . VJ should equally go the farm and that dinosaur Minister of Southern province Danial Munkombwe

  6. PF, poseniko amamano ka. 2011 ili pa fupi. Ulubilo lwa mwipi kubangilila. The earlier you have your PF District Meetings, Provincial Meetings and National Convention, the better. Have it before MMD and UPND. The Young shold be the players while all the Chikuliles/Madalas are automatically Consultants. You will positively surprise yourselves and those who have undersetimated your ability to rise like our EAGLE. With or without degrees/doctorates be on your marks! Set! Go!

  7. #7 wiseman-reborn says: I think the curent young politicians in Zambia (the Lubinda, Namulambes, Kundas, Mutati etc) are the biggest pupets this Country has ever seen, they cant stand on their own and so always proping up old men….while we were honoring the freedom fighters, these guys should be jailed for letting Zambia down….what else can we say?

  8. PF please do your home work so that MMD can be put off the seats in 2011. I will come and celebrate with you all.

  9. On “The PF spokesperson said the party is implementing strategies to sustain its popularity in Lusaka and other parts of the country. He castigated those calling for resignation of party leader Michael Sata, adding that they were being sponsored by the enemies of the party”, I urge the Undereducate to disband PF and join the UPND as a cadre. Let all those that love our man bashikulu Sata ask him to avoid impeding progress in our politics. Please, tell him to stand for UPND political party Chairman in 2011 at its convention and ask the UPND people to allow him go unchallenged at their 2011 party convention also known as General Assembly.

This will help the opposition to have a UNITED stand against the MMD so that we as Zambians can manage to kick out the MMD from governing Zambia.

  10. 8 cont… PF here is your recipe for recovery…..District elect representatives to Provincial Convention. Each Province to elect representatives to National Convention….National Convention to elect Party president who will be the Presidential Candidate and his Vice. Democratic efforts not only at General Election time. Abantu balatendwa. People will soon be fed up with old tricks. Honour the CHIKULILILES-NKALALMBAS-MADALAS-MACEMBELES be sources of wisdom and let your adult sons and daughter do the runnining! Bless you PFand all the people of Zambeziland. Epo mpelele!

  11. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe

If you have followed Zambian politics and I know you have, you’ll notice that UPND is still considered a regional party. This is a fact.

It would be suicide for any representative standing on the PF ticket to join the UPND unless they want to win Southern Province. It would be even worst if Sata had to join the UPND because voters would be swayed away and vote for someone else.

Until the UPND removes this Tribal/Regional tag, they will only be maintaining Southern Province whilst losing everywhere else.

  12. All the PF suppoters who have posted so far seem to be seing the sense that Sata is not the man to lead PF in 2011. If PF put a vibrant, young and exposed guy, surely that would be good for Zambia. HH needs contenders who will challenge him on every premise. While PF is more popular for now than UPND, they need to do the right thing while the sun shines others they will just end up near winners! Dont take the supporters for granted! For me I dont care which party forms govt as long as its not MMD. But the replacement for RB should not be another RB look and think alike, we need real change!

  13. 15, Free-Market-Capitalist, you are a time waster on your tribal issues and regional politics.
I wrote what I wrote because I believe that the Undereducate can make an informed decision in the interest of the Nation. After-all, he is the one who said in Monze, Southern Province, in 2008 on Sky radio that it did not matter who had to go against the MMD as Presidential Candidate but to win the election as opposition is what was important.
Characters like you, who are spreading separation between our opposition political parties, are no different from Lifwekelo. So, just continue supporting MMD in covert manner but us progress Zambians will seek to do what is best for our great Nation.
To this end, have a great day and I will only respond to you when you will stop being tribal/regional.

  14. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe

15, Free-Market-Capitalist, you are a time waster on your tribal issues and regional politics.

I don’t have tribal issues. I am just stating the FACTS. UPND for a long time and still today is considered a regional party. You go on the ground in Zambia today and you’ll see this to be evident. UPND has done little to remove the tribal tag and the voting patterns have made it worst. I have studies statistics before and one of the things that we looked at was correlation. If you look at the correlation with UPND and their voting patterns, you’ll see that my above statement is accurate.

If UPND wants to oust the MMD, they should join the PF and not the other way around.

  15. cont.]

UPND as it is now will never win an election (and you know this) unless they remove the tribal tag or join the PF. This is true and you know it.

Characters like you, who are spreading separation between our opposition political parties, are no different from Lifwekelo. So, just continue supporting MMD in covert manner but us progress Zambians will seek to do what is best for our great Nation.

This is just an appeal to emotion and I will not entertain such an accusation.

  16. And us where shall our vote be cast? certainly not the snake nor nyama soya this time around …..but the young and the intelligent. we have had enough of con men in the name of Kafupi…..

  17. YES the us , the neutral , the deciders and referees …. Denny it or not ….never power hungry yet spectators …..

  18. PF do not be cared of ULP’s Sakwiba Sikota who issued that his party is putting in place measures to be a serious contender in the 2011 elections. You as PF need to understand that a united opposition is what we need and this can only be formed if the undemocratic PF is destroyed completely while the UPND which has been having conventions to elect leaders since its inception can hold a convention which will satisfy everyone in Zambia is the year 2011 just before the tripartite elections.
To this end, let the PF work with president HH in his campaign where he has been taking relief items to flood victims across the country even to the Western Province where people were heard shouting HH for 2011 Zambian President at the just ended Kuomboka Lozi people’s ceremony.
    Let those with ears,…

  19. hear; as this information is cardinal for every well meaning Zambian to take seriously.

Just look at Mandela who gave a nice backing to the ANC in South Africa yesterday to boost their support following the upcoming 22nd April elections.

People must understand that the MMD is bound to disintegrate after its convention next year and its resources and resourceful persons like Ng’andu Magande, Maureen Mwanawasa, Shikafuswa and Chibombamilimo as potential UPND members where real democracy is practised.

Such a combination will be unbeatable in 2011 if the Undereducate accepts to have a heart for Zambia since he will be able to be some relaxed man without pressure of possible sickness while running a marathon with strong men like president HH and Clive Chirwa (PhD, UK).

  20. Respect the old man merely exercising his constitutional right.Standing in elections does not mean one stands a chance to win or enter statehouse. Its symbolic interaction at best.you all know that Sata under the sun will never be head of State.

  21. We’l see in 2011. Continue to argue we shall vote the way we voted. To remove that difference in the last elections, we’ve started campaigning in villages.

  22. watch your tongue the one who said UPND should join pf. it is PF who should join not UPND. When upnd was formed sata was busy whipping people in kanyama and now is your hero. you poor boy, do not just come here show rubbish brains here. look at your self boy…..

  23. KIZITO

I know your comment is directed to me because of the following statement “watch your tongue the one who said UPND should join pf

When upnd was formed sata was busy whipping people in kanyama and now is your hero.

For starters, I am not a Sata supporter at all. I do not support Sata or the PF because of their policies. Now you misunderstood why I said UPND must join the PF. If you look at the elections in 2006, PF was second to MMD and if you look at the just ended by-elections, PF (yes PF) gave the MMD a run for its money and not UPND.

Fact, UPND is weak and alone, it does not stand a chance to win an election. The MMD is strong in the rural areas and PF in the Urban areas and along the line of rail.

  24. cont.]

UPND will only have a chance if they join up with a stronger opposition.

BTW, Not that it matters but I am neutral when it comes to Zambian politics.

  25. #19 Free fimo fimo I coudn`t agree more. I rarely agree with you but you are spot on. I can put my money on it, if we do not get another party before 2011, the picture will be the same and so will be the results! MMD first, second PF and then, ah well! I can never see UPND wining and the reasons you have put forward are spot on. I bet it shows even on here. I always say as long as it remains like this, then Zambians should forget about having a new party in power. MMD should be s t u p i d to let these two parties win the way things are going in the two camps. To some extent you feel I would rather have them in power than the other two parties. Seriously! Kaleza!

  26. #34 Free fimo fimo yet again spot on. We have spoken about this before. Its not rocket science but it`s hard for some people to understand especially on here. The fact that UPND has more support on here than the votes they get is really worrying. Merging is the only solution, but do you see it happening? No! So good luck MMD!

  27. STOP WINGING AND DO SOMETHING WORTHY!! YOUR MATES ARE VOTING FOR MISS UNIVERSE ZAMBIA AND ALL YOU ARE DOING IS GETTING MISERABLE. BE HEARD. CHOOSE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE.. http: //ukzambians. co .uk /missuniversezambia/

  28. Obviously miss fimo fimo is more important than what people are talking about! lol! Even Zimbabwe has their miss fimo fimo! Lol!

  29. From my observation, all the bloggres here seem to be highly educated and exposed, so why dont you return back home and take up influential positions and be able to make a difference in the political arena??

  30. The young shall rule ……not the old , Zambia was developed by the young headed by Kk at 40 supported by the winas , mulemba, Maiza chona Nalumino mundia, Kapwepwe very young chaps yet educated Princess Nakatindi , Mother Kankasa….

  31. Honestly Sata must retire. he has outlived his usefulness. Just look at his tired brown tobacco fried teeth. We need some young man to rule Zambia. PF should go for a convention and elect a young party president now. before it is too late. All the old scrap must go . Am sure there young men who can lead PF.

  32. My advice to PF is to start now in rural areas where they failled to amass as many votes, I also urge gouvenment to speed up the regitration of voters, some of us now live 1000 km away from our polling stations, with tyhe global economic melt down it makes no sence for me to travel all the way to cast my vote especially knowing that VJ is around to turn tables

  33. awe ba given, what preps when yu can’t even talk of the convention to usher in leaders at various portifolios.yu’re not serious, period!

  34. It is better to be uneducated than being uncivilised. Having devoted more years of life getting education ,most uncivilised people have a natural bias toward thinking education is everything. The lack of african growth despite educational explotion has caused one study to ask”where has all education gone?” What has been the response of economic growth to the education explosion ?Alas ,the answer is little or none. The initial education we receive from our parents during primary socialisation has a huge bearing on our personal development and our contribution to society. You can imagine the norms and values of an adult calling someone as ‘uneducated’ .This is also a reason why World Bank is now employing Sociologist and otha desplines coz undevelopment is more to do with our…

  35. #45 Good observation but that`s where the problem is. Not every person can be a politician and it`s easier said than done. The number of arm chair politicians you find here is amazing. The ideas they come up with are phenomenon yet we have people in government who are brilliant or were brilliant but given that position, alas, everything goes under the pan! #50 It`s amazing because chances are some of these people have parents who are not or were not educated.

  36. The idea of preping for 2011 is good, however, King Cobra should not be fielded if at all the party would like to win the election. The times are changing, therefore those in politics and have been there longer than is necessary must reevaluate their worthness. In my opinion, if one attempts presidentship twice and is unsuccessful, they must withdraw any future intentions of standing for the same position. We must give chance to new players to lead the nation forward.

  37. 2001 = Mazoaka (robed tho)
    2006 = levy (Clear win-opposition divided)
    2008 = Sata (Robed tho)
    2011 = HH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    2016 = Mwamba Luchembe!!!!

  38. Very funny post #55. Nice dream! Can`t see it happening though. I can see MMD being in power for another 5 years from 2011.

  39. #55 GOOD OBSERVATION! Sata is a shameless old SAME liar. Nansoni alibe! What exactly do his supporters see in him apart from his TRIBE? When he loses in 2011 you will hear him preparing for 2022.SHAME

  40. People please dont get it twisted that am pulling Sata down but am just worried about his health. Dont you think Sata’s time has gone? and wont it be a great ideal if he gets a successor? I knw I like Sata and His my man and I will help myself to get him on top.

  41. The Undereducate MC Sata is on record saying that only president HH is there to groom to become future Zambian President and I do not see why tribal characters on here are trying to show case that Sata will still be useful at 75 yrs old to become Zambian President.

Continue wishing and we will see what will happen when time comes, by God’s grace.

  42. I bet RB and his hung-ons laugh when they visit this site. Come 2011 the story will be the same. People don`t vote for Sata they vote for PF. One only has to look at the results pattern. More like 1991 when Zambians were voting for even dead wood as long as one stood on MMD tickect. Shoving stuff down people`s throat will not make UPND win an election. It`s not about Sata but parties. I think Free fimo fimo is right. Assuming Sata says he is not going to contest the 2011 elections, is that going to make UPND win? No. It will just sway them towards MMD. Free fimo fimo you are right and I agree with you.

  43. By the time some people on here realise, MMD will have been in power for 20 years. By the time their next term finishes it will be 25 years. I can see them being around for a very long time. Doesn`t bother me as long as peace prevails.

  44. For me the PF is very unattractive because of the corrupt dead wood that heads the party. I do not suffer from political myopia to rally behind such an arrogant, insolent, foul-mouthed rotten man like SATA(N). I like Given Lubinda and the way he presents his arguments but I hope he is aware that in Sata, he is associating with a dangerous wolf in sheep’s clothing.

  45. Well fellow LT bloggers, why don’t we form our own party and challenge the odds? It seems we have capable people here. I mean just from reading the above posts, we can perform
great miracles in the first one hunderd days in power. What do you think?
    :-w

  46. Lubinda has really sunken so low under PF.he was suppose to make this announcement after the convention.Charity begins at home, the same goes for PF,they are suppose to be democratic so as to earn the trust of people that they can also do it at national level. As it stands, Iam not ready to sacrifice my hard-eraned democratic rights to the ONE King Cobra(I know him inside ou,I dont have short memery)

  47. I will be the last Zambian tobe convinced Sata can lead Zambia. The man has every trait that does not inspire me at all.If you think Bwezani isbad wait till you have Sata in state house. That though is too costly an experiment to tempt with.I would rather not.At this point.the country needs a selfless leader ,one puts country first. One who realises country is bigger than individual.Levy was here but he is no more,Zambia stil is.I suppose had he known, probably he would have done things differently.Do you remember there was a time when we all thought Levy was giving us the constitution that for along time we only coveted, then just took a sudden wrong turn. Comrades COUNTRY IS BIGGER THAN INDIVIDUAL that is the leader we need. DEFINITELY NOT SATA already bigger than his PF.Viva MIYANDA

  48. #68 How many votes did Miyanda get in the last election? For God`s sake this is beyond being a relative if you are one.

  49. #70 I sincerely hope you are not suggesting Sata is good enough for Zambia? If you and every other Zambian could vote wisely, Miyanda could perform better than he did. That is the idea.I am away above nepotism .I am just looking at the crop we have at the moment and I think he is the best candidate.Integrity, discipline, focused. steady, intelligent ,leader, not selfish he shares the view that institutions are bigger than individuals. It would be good for you sir/madam to take time and examine the choices closely chances are you will come to the same conclusion. lets get your vote and youwilsoon see how things will change. VIVA MIYANDA

  50. You might say whatever you want about SATA but this man is popular, even if he stands in 2011, a lot of people will vote for him however the only way MMD can be defeated is for opposing parties to come together. In 2006 when HH seemingly got good votes, he was representing 3 parties but 2008 under UPND, very poor performance. So Maestro with all your intelligency(or maybe lack of it), how can PF join UPND? It has to be vice versa

  51. #71 Tusha Please wake up, seems like you have been asleep like your favourite man Miyanda. Infact for him he is still sleeping and will ressurect 5 days before filing in of nominations in 2011.

  52. 71 Tusha, with all due respect when have there been elections in Miyanda’s party to chose leaders of the HP? To write the least, Brig. Gen. G. Miyanda is no different from the Undereducate MC SATA in terms of undemocratic tendencies.

To this end, I urge you to ask Miyanda to hold elections in HP so that we can see how charity which must begin at home can be implemented at National level should zAMBIANS ALLOW mIYANDA TO RULE WHICH IS UNFORTUNATELY FAR TOO MUCH TO THINK IT CAN HAPPEN OVERNIGHT FRO HIM TO CONVINCE ALL ZAMBIANS THAT HE CAN BE OUR PRESIDENT. The presidential elections since 2001 are a testimony of how much a failure Gen. Miyanda’s campaign has been.

  53. 72 Sceptic, on “So Maestro with all your intelligency(or maybe lack of it), how can PF join UPND? It has to be vice versa”, what you must realise is that PF/Sata has never had a democratic convention to elect its leaders and this is enough to show that it does not exist as a party to consider. In fact, PF is nothing without Sata since PF is Sata and Sata is PF – it is it.

In view of the facts that the UPND was formed in 1998 or so and has been having conventions to elect leaders while PF/Sata came on the scene in 2001, it is only normal and fair that PF which is just Sata must be disbanded and Sata/PF joins a democratic party UPND so that he can participate in its CONVENTION in 2011 just before the tripartite elections.

Right now the UPND is the largest oppoisition party in…

  54. 75 continued.

… Zambia because it has 22 loyal MPs while PF is the next with about 15 or so loyal MPs to PF/Sata while the rest are called REBEL-PF MPs.

In light of these facts and the point the then UPND president A. Mazoka in 2000/1 invited PF/Sata and/or other 22 former MMD members who included FDD and HP/Miyanda to join the UPNDTeam as the only serious opposition, PF/Sata and HP/Miyanda must just swallow their coombined pride and join the only largest democratic party in Zambia UPND.

This must be a fact that the Undereducate Sata MC recognised when he said that only president HH was there to groom to lead Zambia as President at a political rally that he held in 2008 near Kafue roundabout. Bashikulu MC Sata even went to Monze and said he called for joining the UPND and PF/…

  55. 76 continued.
…/himself at some INDABA saying that it did not matter who led the joint opposition force but removing the MMD from power was at stake.

So, if the Undereducate MC Sata himself knows that it is only his disbanding of PF to join the UPND democratic party, who are you to disagree?

Anywhere, you have a right to remain skeptical as your name, “skeptic”, indicates.

Have a good day and keep well as I await to hear from the Undereducate himself on his more support for president HH and the UPND.

  56. Bloggers, please understand that 2011 will be decided by a new breed of enligtend voters. I urge you to not write off UPND. For PF, as long as Sata is there up to that time, they can kiss the Presidency goodbye. The pattern emerging now within the PF is the ‘wamuyaya’ syndrome. It wont take them anywhere. watch this space.

  57. Imwe fi PF start by holding your convention where your leaders should be democratically elected. They say charity begins at home. If you put your house in order then you can come and slag it out at national level with pride. And why can’t you compromise with UPND and other oppostion parties to come up with an all inclusive alliance? The issue of who becomes President from this alliance can be deduced from who normally gets more votes than the other during elections. Let’s face it chi Sata despite being what he is garners a lot of votes than HH. It is what the pipo think of the two. Otherwise without this opposition alliance MMD will continue winning and the opposition will continue coming out in the usual order (with PF (Poor Finishing coming second after leading earlier)).

  58. Great move PF,but lets face it,MMD is craft I mean these Guys are realy smart at manupilating the elections with their political engineers like VJ and his crones.worse still these people have totaly failed to lead us, look , what tangable thing can they proudly say they have done for mother Zambia nothing. We really need change and the change can only come about if these two major parties PF and UPND come form an alliance with HH the president and Lubinda the vice, Only then will they challenge MMD.PEACE
    GOD BLESS MOTHER ZAMBIA

  59. The country needs a breath of fresh air in 2011. MMD should and must be voted out of power in the 2011 elections because things in Zambia are getting worse. For this to happen, my free advice to UPND and PF (the only credible opposition parties) is that they should work hard to mobilise the support of rural dwellers. These compatriots should be sensitised to help them open their eyes to the lies of the MMD. And this process should start NOW. It takes a very long time to change the mindset of a villager. Three or four months of campaining that is usually given in an election year is grossly inadequate to be able to convince our relatives in villages to think otherwise.

  60. Those of you who think HH can join sata just hung yourselves. UPND has done alot in areas they control. You cannot be forced to join thugs just to win elections, if you are a man of integrity like HH. The man has principles, actually HH did much better in the last elections when it went alone than it did in that alliance. HH is not a man who moves where it is warm just because just to get into power. He is not so desperate,, and actually his party has done much. HH is not like some of these opposition leaders who cannot plant a tomato seed in their backyard but can make noise when there is a shortage and even accuse Banda. Wake up guys this sata wants to live on our tax payers again without work for how long. He mismanaged it its enough. I do not hate sata, but I hate his past.

  61. I hope they organise themselves & work smarter in the 2011 and not just rely on kaponya’s & claim they have a large support base and depending on Michael Sata. PF would do good if Sata was to make way for new leaders
