THE ruling MMD has asked former Minister of Finance and National Planning Ng’andu Magande to immediately stop making unwarranted statements about the resignation of former Minister of Communications and Transport, Dora Siliya.

MMD chairperson for information and publicity, Benny Tetamashimba, said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that it is unfortunate that Mr Magande can ask a fellow parliamentarian to resign when he is not a spokesperson for the party or the National Assembly.

“We are advising Magande to keep quiet because he is not the party spokesperson. He isn’t even spokesperson for Parliament. Who is he speaking for?” Mr Tetamashimba, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing, asked.

He said it was unthinkable for Mr Magande to ask Ms Siliya to resign as a member of Parliament (MP).

Mr Tetamashimba said Mr Magande should have been the first to resign after information surfaced that he allegedly supported an attempt to bail out the defunct Zambian Airways.

“He, therefore, cannot condemn Ms Siliya. Infact, he failed to bring votes for President Banda during last year’s elections in his constituency. So, he should keep quiet,” Mr Tetamashimba said.

Mr Magande, who is Chilanga MMD Member of Parliament was yesterday quoted in The Post newspaper as having demanded the resignation of Ms Siliya as an MP.

He was reported to have said Ms Siliya cannot continue to hold her position in Parliament.

Mr Magande was also quoted as having said that President Banda should not have accepted Ms Siliya’s resignation as Minister of Communications and Transport because he is still studying the findings of the tribunal.

He said as an MP and Cabinet minister, Ms Siliya swore to uphold the constitution.

Mr Magande said if Ms Siliya committed an offence against the constitution, she could not hold a position in a place where the constitution was paramount law.

  1. “He, therefore, cannot condemn Ms Siliya. Infact, he failed to bring votes for President Banda during last year’s elections in his constituency. So, he should keep quiet,” Mr Tetamashimba said.
Is it just me or does every statement that Teta makes always remind us of who didnt bring votes for RB???

  2. The truth only pricks the hearts of liars. I personaly, can not expect Teta and his friends to accept anything that is againt dishonest, anything from a credible person, anything that shuts the door for corrupt minds and anything that is against the father of lies. To expect such from such people is like expecting FTJ to say sorry to the zambians publicly. Honestly, how do you expect a law breaker to support justice.

  3. “Iwe chi Tentamashimba!” I thought you had found the importance of watching “things” unfold in silence. Most of your yappings irritate and suck to say the least.

  4. Ba Teta you’ve no powers to curtail someone’s freedoms. He has not committed a crime. Magande is entitled to his own opinion. It is he’s right enshrined in the constitution. Teta you are just a cheap functional illiterate with no track record of having done anything constructive in life. Just the usual psychophancy!

  5. Zambian politics evolve around tribes, you can unseat teta in his homeland no matter how much
You can hate him whereever you are.

  6. But this man is a disgrace to us lamba speaking people. Ala mwebaneensu mwitumwenamo, that breed is long gone, he is the only one remaining. Never let him make you regret picking leaders from us plz, plz, plz!!1

  7. Greetings dear bloggers.
Sorry for my recent absence, circumstances conspired to keep me away from my computer for the past two days.

A quick look at the headline and the comments above tells me that this here is just another of those insignificant chitter-chatter stories involving Teta. I however see several other interesting threads that I haven’t read. I have a lot of work to do.

  8. The problem with MMD they think they think they own everyone in Zambia.what is wrong with commenting on Dora’s resignation? Magande is just exercising freedom of speech.Ciwamina galu kuluma mbuzi not mbuzi imwe kuluma galu.Mbuzi ngayaluma galu, galu ati no uzanidowolela cikumba.MMD iam tired of you.

  9. This man’s sycophantism is in all ways correlated with is long-bent mouth. I guess since his birth nothing good has come from his mouth. No wonder he was fired from UPND. He is full of folly, childishness, irrationality and any thing that makes up a man of virtue. He is a misplaced person in Zambian politics. RUBBISH.

  10. I personaaly dont like Teta. But on what ground is magande laying his opinion for her to resign her parliamentary seat when the tribunal cleared her of parlimentary misconduct. There is more to this than what he is saying and can be stemmed back to the refusal by Dora to bail out ZA when he, Magande, was in-charge of Finance ministry. Her constituents are not calling for her resignation.

By the way, going by the first sentence, it seems as though Teta is speaking on behalf of MMD and GRZ. Does this mean that he was the one who was supposed to say what Magande said? KANO NGA EBO!! In bemba they say, “ ba kolwe basekana ….”. (The monkeys a fond of laughing at each others buttocks). I just can’t comprehend why red lips people in MMD are so selfish. I agree with you number six (No.6) he is useless. pazed fyashupisha nomba

  12. LT as far as Iam concerned there is nothing wrong with my comment for it to be on a waiting list.go on and moderate it.Thank you and God bless you.

  13. #14 Sharp Shooter
You do have a point there and its true Magande is not the right person to call for Doras resignation just like Teta shoudnt be the the one putting this point across.
Magande has a history with this case where as Teta is just a loude mouth

  14. As much as we are all entitled to an opinion, with due respect, from a moral point of view, it is wrong for Magande to throw stones while living in a glass house. Why should he attack his party when his support is needed the most at the moment? Clearly, this is a case of sour grapes. Until and unless he is cleared over the ZA saga and detaches himself from MMD, he should flock with them. However, from a logical angle, Magande is right about the need for Dora to also resign from Parliament for reasons he cited. Nonetheless, RB did the right thing to accept Dora’s resignation to restore some confidence in government. In fact, had Magande had any morals, he should have also resigned immediately rumours started flying around over his involvement in the ZA saga. He would have earned the…

  15. So was Teta with Katele when he said Magande did not win votes for Rupiah in his constituency. How ironic- Katele was also told the same thing by some MMD members

  16. These MMD men bicker like school girls chasing after the same boy! Can they just shut up for a minute and revisit their job prescriptions!

  17. “cont.,” … Magande could have earned public confidence to be reappointed in the same position after being cleared of any wrong doing in the ZA saga. But as for now ba Bwana Magande, just go back to UPND and grovel and apologise for having been a proverbial Prodigal Son. You cant bite the finger feeding you with a Ministerial Post and get away with it.

  18. Teta has no shame! We are in a democracy and everyone is free to air their views. Why should views matter, only when they are divergent?
This Dora issue is going to chew them all. “Noushalimo akabamo”. This issue carefull and hundle with care.

  19. Teta is a typical party cadre and devoid of any reasoning. This guy is always talking a lot of useless things. He cannot even put up any constructive ideas other than just bootlicking whoever is president shoes. What a useless chap. Magande’s advice was sound and useful and this party cadre cant see any sense in it. Yaba, kwena ichalo chachula na ba Tetamashi…

  20. Pa nsaka tapa bulwa chipuba (there is always a fool at every gathering). Every administration has had one. Kaunda had Kamalondo, Chiluba had Kangwa Nsuluka, Mwanawasa had Mulongoti and Rupia has two, Teta and Shikapwasha. Magande has every right to speak despite not using the rigging machine in his constituency for RB. He was speaking on behalf of people from his constituency, isn’t he an MP? Teta SHUT UP for once, my foot.

  21. Magande is a free man and thus can say what he likes. Good governance is not based on gagging people from critising the government or an organisation. Brains and nor brawns.

  22. Pa nsaka tapa bulwa chipuba (every gathering has a fool). All Zambian administrations have had one. Kaunda had Alexandar Kamalondo, Chiluba had Kangwa Nsuluka, Mwanawasa had Mike Mulongoti and RB has two, Teta and Shikapwasha.

  23. #27 Ba Dr Maureen @shani. Nomba ni weekend and Ba Teta must be having some MOSI somewhere in town. These politicians know how to budget for their weekend BUZZ but have no idea on how to run a country. Statements will never bring change to Zambia. Talk and watch how people continue to suffer. Ine nshakabwele, besides I have built a nice nest kuno ku Europe. Thanks mother Zambia, without you I would never have brought it this far!! Bless you.

  24. Pa nsaka tapa bulwa chipuba (every gathering has a fool). Every Zambian administration has had one. Kaunda had Kamalondo, Chiluba had Nsuluka, Mwanawasa had Mulogoti and RB has Teta.

  25. LT you have kept blocking my comments which have alot of sense yet you give space to people like Cosmo Mumba and Teta. I will develop my own site. You can be with yours. People need to be heard, you are now behaving like ZNBC, Times of Zambia or Daily Mail. Its not fair. Will never visit your site. I will even ask those testing virus programs to target your site. Shame on you.

  26. If i was someone who created people i would have made sure i made Teta a dog coz he talks and behaves like one!!!

  27. The deviding line is being drawn here: those that respect the constitution and the Bible they swore on in our presence and that or the Almighty and those that dont want to uphold the Constitution and made fake auth b4 man and God. Dora cant go alone because she was executing her boss’ tasks and hence the cause for all ba kandile to suport her. Imagine if Levy was alive how many could have supported what he opposed? With myopic-kansuswa vision, Teta cant see that all those like him, with no regard to the suprem Law are going out of Govt. The list is getting longer; RBB, Kunda, Shikapwasha, Teta,……… you are bad eggs that must not be allowed hatch. Viva Magende!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Ba Magande should think of resigning if his statements are to be taken seriously. Isnt he the one who lectured Siliya in that letter on how to let ZA not pay airport duty?

  29. ……. All those that are supporting bleach of the Constitution are bad eggs that must not be allowed to hatch. Imagine if Teta, the bad egg as he is, was allowed to bigget his like 10 times! What sort of politcal hell – society can we bring in this country? Next is likely to be Mulongoti- watch the pace. I therefore join Hon. Magande (i even feel it befitting calling him Hon) all Law abiding Citizens, who are calling for the resignation of Dora as an MP, and those calling for resignation of RB, GK , Shikapwasha and Teta. So help us GOD Almighty.

  30. The calibre of Teta always raises some doubts, its like he thinks after talking . Let the law takes its course over Dora.

  31. “Infact, he failed to bring votes for President Banda during last year’s elections in his constituency. So, he should keep quiet,” Mr Tetamashimba said.”

Imwe ba TETA what is the connection between Dora’s case and last years presidential by elections for you to tell Magande to keep quiet?

  32. LT Teta recently lost a case in the courts of law for illegally producing a statutory instrument to postponement mayoral elections. Did you not pcik that one? He was charged to pay K1m to PF, and was ordered to ensure that mayoral elections occur within 14 days of the ruling on before the 30th of April 2009. That was significant news which LT cannot afford to skip. Recently, Teta and Mulyata have been playing a dangerous game of bedfellows which is affecting both North Western and Western Province. Watch the news. These two fellows are a liability to both MMD and Zambia.

  33. The Captain of MMD is to blame for all this. Please Nyama soya give direction and good leadership to your people…….as citizens this is very embarrassing though an understatement even …

  34. And news from the districts seem to indicate that Mongu Mayor Charles Akende has been suspended as Mayor just two days before the end of his tenure in office. This suspension is said to have been made in a fictitious extra ordinary council meeting of Mongu Municipal Council called forcibly by the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Hon Teta through a directive to the Town Clerk ordering him to arrange this meeting without fail and discuss the ‘activities of the Mayor’. It is believed that Akende has been suspended for airing an article in LT some time back which also appeared in the POST regarding his threat to suspend MPs who do not attend council meetings regularly. Hon Mulyata is believed to have masterminded the whole circus to curtail Akendes ambitions for 2011 as Mongu MP.

    Chapi says:
September 6, 2008 at 9:14 pm I wish the Auditor General can do a snip check on how the public coffers have been handled since RB has been in charge. When I write that the plunderers are back, that`s no joke at all. It`s free for all.

  36. On October 31, 1980, a “Mister Cheese” informed the then Director of Intelligence Services that some people at a farm in Chilanga, a few kilometres south of the capital, Lusaka, were plotting to overthrow the Zambian government. The second battalion of the Zambia Army was ordered to raid the farm. After exchanging gun-fire, eight suspects were arrested. They included State Counsel Edward Shamwana, the late Valentine Musakanya, Godwin Yoram Mumba, Anderson Kabwili Mporokoso, Thomas Mpanga Mulewa, former vice president in the Third Republic Lieutenant General Godfrey Miyanda and some Zairean citizens — Deogratis Symba, Albert Chimbalile and Laurent Kanyembu.

After a trial which lasted 11 months, trial Judge Dennis Chirwa, acquitted Lt. Gen. Miyanda and found the rest guilty. But this…

  37. Teta (literally means to cut).I don’t know what he cuts..mashimba?.just by the way.
Ba Teta, the time you will fail to bring volts to MMD,you will be dislocated from the party. Its like that’s the standard of measure for you to remain in MMD.Ministerial positions will not be there for you because MMD will be nursing a serious assault in 2011.

  38. Following He said it was unthinkable for Mr Magande to ask Ms Siliya to resign as a member of Parliament (MP) from Minister Teta. and Magande’s “He said as an MP and Cabinet minister, Ms Siliya swore to uphold the constitution.

Mr Magande said if Ms Siliya committed an offence against the constitution, she could not hold a position in a place where the constitution was paramount law”, I am afraid I will stand by Mr Teta. on this one though some of his re[prted points are way out of line with what is normally expected.

To write the least I am very disappointed with my fellow Tonga bull Magande for his statements are nothing but a failure to take the Tribunal’s judgement into full consideration. Zambian politics is is seeming a fight for the Presidency now.

  39. Zambia as a ship is sailing in serious turbulent waters of Leadership…..Let us forget about the old bones . There are a shear waste of time . What folly is this ,did not bring votes ? were you guys not working as a team ? what a fallacy of leadership.

  40. This is pathetic. Iwe chi Teta, why didn’t you raise these concerns about Magande or called for an investigation into his conduct. About bringing votes for RB, you are the kind of people we will hold accountable for your boot leaking myopic kinda thinking. Shame on you Mr YES BWANA. You put politics above the suffering masses. Wait the next wave is around the corner and we will prosecute to to full extent of the law.

  41. Strange than fiction . #65 is that an idiom , a metaphor , proverb , wild guess and good puzzle of lingo…only the young can decipher ..let the old bone rest.

  42. Do you know ,what Sir newton said , any one whom has studied anatomy and physiology can never refuse the existence the great guy above…… called by many names , supremely , Though God almighty …

  43. “I’ll seek judicial review over the tribunal’s pronouncement that I breached the Constitution because the petitioners did not make such an allegation against me” – Dora, Du spinnst ja!

  44. When anyone breaches the constitution, Banda is supposed to get the govt. come down on them like a tonne of bricks, that’s what he is constitutionally obliged to do! By failing to do so, he is in breach himself!

  45. Dora has breached the constitution but Teta wants her still in parliament. Katele han’t been convicted but Satamashimba wants him out of MMD. Why should our parliament be refuge for thieving scoundrels and not the MMD?

  46. Magande is high calibre whose services are being missed by the country because of selfish humanbeings like Tetamashimba who are just enjoying taxpayers money without anything to offer.

Teta, be honest, what are you giving to the country in this difficult economic situation?

  47. Zambian politics and politicians never cease to amuse me. Politicians are busy fighting pointing fingers at each while their colleagues in other countries are spending their energies and time finding solutions to the effects of the global financial crisis. Banda has said this and that about Sata, Sata hits back, Magande has said this and that about Dora, Teta is annoyed, So what? Spare us the ………….
Meanwhile people are loosing their jobs, the kwacha is looosing value, etc…these are the issues, we need solutions.

  48. ba Teta chiwelewele fye!!!!!! he came to russia just to say that the gov smuggles allowances for the students across the waters!!!!!!….balefwaika fye ifi gayo fyabo, chapwa!!!!!!

  49. JOHANNESBURG The Times (UK) – Jacob Zuma’s arrival at the Presidency of South Africa could hold a few surprises for Africa’s dictators – not all of them welcome.
Behind the smiles and back-slapping, Mr Zuma is expected to show little patience towards fellow leaders who might obstruct broader policy intentions.
South African diplomatic sources say that Mr Zuma has already indicated that President al-Bashir of Sudan, who has been charged by the International Criminal Court over alleged genocide in Darfur, will not be welcome at his inauguration on May 9, and that he could even risk arrest and deportation to The Hague.

  50. It appears that to our friends in North-Western Province, Teta is the next best thing to happen after sliced bread. They cannot do away with him, not at all.

  51. #80 Do not be regional in your contributions.Talk about an individual okay.Last elections the voting pattern was so bad because of people of that kind of thinking. It’s one Zambia one Nation.

  52. All these things we are going through in Zambia are as result of being ruled by people who did their education through corruption. They dont beleive in transperance.Short cut is the order of their days.We concentrated on Dora Siliya’s case, now has resigned ,what next?We have got real issues to attend to,like Zambian Airways liquidation and we keep on talking about unbenefiting ones. What type of nation is this one?Our country is very dirty and can not search for solutions to mend the crap but just on petty issues.A Christian nation where almost everyone believes in wicth craft!!!!

  53. Why are we surprised when politicians play politics? It’s not like they are supposed to be real adults… they are, after all, politicians and don’t have real jobs and aren’t playing around with their money.Teta Mashimba has nothing to offer for the people of zambia ,apart from covering up corrupted chaps.Magande is right Dora must completely be eradicated in matters that have to do with serving the people of zambia, she can no longer be trusted. The trouble with this country is that there are too many politicians who believe, with a conviction based on experience, that you can f**l all of the people all the time.Dont be f**led by politicians whose only goal is self-preservation.

  54. Nothing is so abject and pathetic as a politician who has lost his job, save only a retired stud-horse.

  55. # 86, Digital Smoke, I am fine, hope so you are….I woke up at 4AM, so I can do some work, I am still sleepy though.

  56. Stripper please take a nap,its good for your health, its somethin you already know as a medical person..have a gudday.

Kambaila, wasup mate? You know what, I just braided ma hair ,did some face clean up, try to put a smile on my face and all that ,…..am a changed man,….I need a girl.

  57. just forget about an asshole like teta. teta does not think before he comes out. One love to Magande. Kitwe Boy atishani ba Chingola

  58. Its amazing to note that Mr. RB is also defending Dora, up to now, by saying she was misled. I do not understand how the entire Minister can be misled when it comes to matters at hand. There’re clear rules and regulations to follow which i believe Dora was aware of. RB should not say she was misled coz then she’s not worth to be a Minister. Minister must always know what they’re signing and if not, they must consult. She chose to ignore Attoney’s advice, howz that misleading?

  59. #93 What right does Teta has to say such things? His boss RB just recently he was saying people are free to say what they feel about Dora saga. What is wrong with Magande to say what he said. Teta has no direction. It is painful to condone such leaders to lead us. SHAME on you Teta

  60. His statement of saying “Magande did not bring votes to RB” I have never seen such kiss a to RB from so called grown men. Teta someone who puts food on the table, through intelligent economic management of the country deserves more respect than someone who brings votes to someone who has no management or leadership skills.

  61. Nothing sensible come out of the the mouth of TETA MASHINSHYA. He is dull in everything. He belongs to politics of yesteryear. He boosts of bringing votes for MMD in the province but the area is still underdeveloped. People still uneducated, no clinics, and the list is endless. The man should not not boost of mines opening up in the province because the so called investors are looting our resources while we sit back clapping for them. Its shame. Magande left windfall tax from mines, Teta and his friends voted against it. How do we benefit from the mines.

  62. Zambia will never develop because of the calibre of people that are in charge of the affairs of our country. Some of them are mere riff-ruff and one wonders how they became ministers, DCs, PSs, etc. You can only find such low calibre “honourables” in Zambia. Anyway what do you expect from a low class, if not backward country like Zambia?

  63. So, one can’t make a comment unless his constituency delivered votes to Rupiah? what kind of democracy is this? Can we be forward looking. Even with Kalumba it was the same. and the kuomboka speech was all about how the lozis delivered blah blah blah. Please Teta spare us. You have been busy defending a convicted thief and yet are quick to denounce those who have yet to be proved guilty. On whose behalf is he speaking? His of course. Magande is a zambian citizen who is entitled to his opinion. He was not quoted as mmd spokesperson but as magande

  64. Hon Teta just talks too much and he seems not to be analysing what he talks. He is completely a let down to the MMD and the Nation at large. After he doesnt own MMD he just chanced being in MMD .No wonder even a lady told him to shup up in todays paper. Please Big man Hon Teta .In LOZI they say KELEZO KI MULYANI .Reduce on your public talking and Attacks on your fellow MMD’s in the press.Learn to discussion Issues administrativelly not any how in press it doesn’t show respect to you and MMD as a part.
