The son of second Republican President Dr. Frederick Chiluba, Castro, has died.

Castro, 33, died on Tuesday at the University Teaching Hospital-UTH- in Lusaka.

Dr. Chiluba’s Press Aid, Emmanuel Mwamba, says Castro was admitted to the UTH on Tuesday morning where he died later.

He said Dr. Chiluba who is currently in South Africa on routine medical review is expected to cut short his schedule and return home for his son’s funeral.

  14. Its true it hurts if someones family member dies, but Castro was a bad boy, i dont feel sad at all. we suffered when his father was president. I remember one time he insulted our parents and said is father was so rich that they would live in Bahamas when his ( father ) term of office expired. He was an animal SIMPLE. I dont care where he has gone to now, what about the people he kept hurting every day?

  16. It is sad Castrol Chiluba is dead, MHSRP. We should however address our selves to one important question, which is : Why is there high death rate among young people in Zambia. Chiluba has lost three Children in so short a period of time , and the case is similar for many parents in Zambia. Why? This is a problem the whole country should address. Chiluba has found himself a victim of this problem.

  19. God’s purpose for Castro’s life will never be anyone’s purpose. Let the dead rest in peace and may God grant us all the peace to mourn our brother with respect………No bad word said against him will cage any of his “ill acts” now……..so hold your peace and let not your righteousness be overwhelmed with anger……..Two wrongs will never make a right and will certainly not strike a balance but cause more angusih and pain. Rest in Eternal Peace Castro…you are in my prayers.

  20. I am sure FTJ, Tito, Castro have AIDS. Anyway, the sons behavior had to to with Chiluba’s conduct as a father, apart from the Kambarage incident KK’s kids were not trouble makers. Mwanawasa’s kids were also displined. Under FTJ his kids and minister’s kids were wild. Here in Namibia, you will never hear such things like a president’s or minister’s kids driving government cars.

  21. We are not wishing Chiluba family bad things, I think bloggers are simply remembering what Castro did. Why say good things, when there is nothing positive to talk about? I wonder what they will say at the funeral.

  22. Whether Castro was bad or evil, I’m sure he made peace with God by the time he died, especially when he started suffering. If he didn’t, that means gehenna for him. We are not to judge or condemn lest we be judged ourselves. Even Saul who persecuted and killed so many people turned around and became a great apostle. Be careful of the words you say or write – they can come back on you and your children and you won’t be able to do anything about it. Prov 18:21 says “death and life are in the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.” SPEAK LIFE, WRITE LIFE, LIVE A LIFE OF LOVE!

  28. Zambian people are interesting, when someone is alive they talk all sorts about him and the minute he dies he becomes a good person. I noticed this with a lot of bloggers with the issue of mwanawasa’s life and death. You see the same thing at zed funerals people will roll in the ground wailing and crying for a person they never liked. If you hated someone in life while switch and change and like them in death? We will al die and not all of us are good ,so just because you are saying nice things when someone’s gone doesn’t make them good. I will say the same whether dead or alive, Castro was an ill egotistical mannered chap who made a lot of innocent people shed tears. Even though I couldn’t stand him I sure hope he prayed and changed before it was too late.

  32. Castro is and will be forever loved and deeply missed by those who new him personally. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend because his goodness far out weighed his badness. He was a victim of his own circumstances and anyone who was blessed to have known him before the accident knew that. After the accident he was like a blank page that people chose to fill with hate and contempt towards him. Girlfriends played their boyfriends on many levels to be with Castro. He never had to force a girl to do anything. As for the woman he shot, she was a thief. She tried to steal his wallet when he was passing out. He was drunk and fired a warning shot that went wrong. Thank God only HE can judge Castro now and haters may the world show you and your kin as much compassion as you have shown…

  35. Those of you codemning the dead man should go back to the crucifixion.Even that deadly bandit received forgiveness. You can never understand the forgiveness of God so don’t be shocked if Castro is in heaven.I don’t give a rat about what he did but where he is at the moment. And if the Lord had set him free before he died then he died a free man in deed.So for ALL you holier than thou behaving like pharisees examine your souls and ask for forgiveness for condemning one of God’s creatures. We don’t know what you do in secret but God knows. And sin is sin…there is no big or small sin in God’s eyes. ALSO let he who has no sin cast the first stone.AMEN AND AMEN.

  36. 55, heartbroken, stop lying, I guess your dad or mum were the Chiluba government because Castro best friends were top Dog’s sons. Castro was a trouble maker as far as 1992, when we were at Kabulonga boys. By 1994, when I was at Evelyn Hone, Castro was out of control. My point is the accident had nothing to do with Castro’s behavior, he already bad before the accident. Chiluba let him sparn out of control, he could break the law and get away with it. No matter what you say, Castro caused anguish to a lot of people. You say only God can judge, if he repented before he dead yes, if not, sorry he is burning in hell.

  39. I have never understood the RIP business, Is there such a thing as not resting in peace. Death is timeless sleep so whether you say RIP of MHSRIP doesn’t make a difference. No prayer can save castro because his time to make an Impression on the creator and his son was In life not death. So your comments of encouragement are useless to the fella. Life is about the deeds you do in life not what people say about you in death hence why the term LIFE. heck even mass murderers like HITLER, STALIN , Constantine and Mohammed were mourned and people showered them with praise. Just wait until judgement day see if you praises will do any good

  40. # 63 bonnie and #55 heartbroken, you seem to be the same person and related to castro. He frog marched my girl to his car, how can you say he did nothing wrong to a girl. As far as i am concerned, he destroyed a beautifull young life. If he was like that after an accident, he was supposed to be locked up in chinama.
I also witnessed him and his brothers arrive i GRZ cars and shoot up a house party. Just accept, they were out of control and deserved a tibunal

  41. I hope Castro repented and turned to Jesus. But the fact remains, the boy was the most troublesome son of a president in Zambia’s history. Life is short. All you Castro friends just admit that the guy brought many tears to innocent people. And on top of that, instead of going to school while his dad was president, he was just running up Zed doing nothing

  43. The opposition New Generation Party (NGP) has described the death of second President Frederick Chiluba’s son, Castro, as a big blow to the party. Dr. Mumba said the late Castro played a very important role and contributed greatly to the development of the party.

He said the late Castro would sadly be missed and remembered by the New Generation Party members.

Dr. Mumba said Castro was a very intelligent young man, who had brilliant ideas that have contributed effectively to making the opposition NGP what it is today. ‘ Ichalo tachitalala nga musunga” hence there shall always be the likes of the late young man, Castro.

None of us can say for sure that this man didn’t turn to God…why do we always look at the short comings of other people and tear them down… many of us are so happy when our “enemies” fall but we should be helping them build a life on a firm foundation…yes he wronged a number of people while he was alive but we should be able to forgive and stop being holier than thou because to be honest none of us is perfect.

  52. I would like to disagree with #40 KK’s kids were notorious and got away with it coz it was a well kept secret coz that time. We lived in a One Party State called UNIP and no one, I repeat no-one dare talk about KK, Betty or even his celebrated kids. One of his sons killed a man in the army in Kabwe over a woman. One of his daughter had a child with one of the ZNS corporal and the list goes on and on, but we shall mention just a few. The only reason no one could not say anything is becoz it was not allowed to talk about KK like we able to talk about the chilubas and the mwanawasas of this world… Children’ behaviour can sometimes shock even their own parents……

  53. 89, if you do evil and don’t repent before you die, it is a fact that you are going to hell. We are all sinners and fallen short of the glory of God, the Bible says. We all need Jesus. Why can’t we accept that Castro was evil when his dad was president? That is a fact. If he repented than God forgave him. Saying the truth does not mean we are judging, we are saying a fact. Hitler was evil, Amin etc these are facts. You want bloggers to say Castro was a good boy, when FTJ was in State House, no!. I really don’t know his life after Chiluba left State House.

Castro was many things but he was definitely not evil. You on the other hand are. I have never done anything to you or anyone else who has written bad things but you insist on insulting my dear friend, who was also a loving father, brother and a son, who has just passed away . I know there is a God and we too will have justice for the pain you have caused us in our time of mourning. 56. Heartbroken, don’t take things out of context, hitler is a person we are know hence the exmaple, I never said Castro was as bad as Hitler. We don’t you admit that the guy caused pain in many people’s lives? The reason why we are talking about him is that he is news worth-son of former president. I am not happy he is dead. But we are remembering what he did when he was alive. I am sorry but I only know the bad things. I am sure he had positive attributes like you have said.

  57. Indeed Ba Kash, as he was known to some who were close, was many things to different people. Perhaps I was fortunate that I never saw his ugly side the few times I interacted with him. I found him to be a cordial and humourous fellow. I always felt he could achieve much in life and in the wake of his passing, I feel sad about a life that has been wasted. FELLOW BLOGGERS, let us draw lessons from Kash’s life for there are many. First, let us put things right with God and man. Secondly, let us raise our kids to work hard and respect other people even those people are poor. It is futile to rejoice in the death of a fellow human-being since we all have the same fate. Rather, let us add value to the world and leave it better than we found. MHSRIP

And as you said #92 you don’t know what Castro did after the family left state house so why say anything…if you don’t have all the facts it’s best to just keep your words to yourself, besides what good willl it do Castro if you say alll these things about him now that he is gone…will he change?

  63. It’s sad that the Man did wrong in both God and Man’s eyes. but wait a minute God forgives whatever the did if you ask for repentence. Well Judging by the way he lived after the FAthers presidence it may appear that he may have repented from his sins, as he would always apologise to people where ever i took him . We do not know that God may use his sickness to see the wrongs he Did. Well think a minute a analyse what God and man”s perception of You had he to judge you at his sit. Supposing Castro repentented and asked for forgiveness from you and God ,( rember he came on Tv apologising to everyone that he had wronged) and You continued harnesing hatred . My friend under 2 Conrinthian 5:17 :- ” any one who comes to God is anew Creation”. So to God he will be new while you will be…

  65. it is with such tragedy that I got to hear of the sudden loss of what could have possibly been a fine young man irregardless of what other people might think. as 105 above says, sometimes we’re a victim of our own making, which is true, but above all HOW CAN A GOD FEARING NATION LIKE ZAMBIA, allow a young man to be encapsulated by the pleasures of the world without intervening? As a human nation with the ability to think in an abstract manner, I am appalled by some fellow citizens finding castro’s tragic death to be rather humourous and in a way some form of good riddance. Surely how can someone find happiness in another man’s tragedy? This young chap surely deserved sometime to reform. This should not be seen as a one off event, but something we need to combat from happening again.

    0

  66. 106 – I agree, no one cared enough to intervene because they are sanctimonious hypocrites whose evil nature enjoys others suffering, dead or alive.
105 – He did more positive in his short life than most people will ever know or can imagine and no one chooses the family to be born rich or poor.
101 – YOU burn in hell
    100 – Worthless fool
98 – You sound like you had a serious case of the green eyed monster to bring up issues about Castro at chengelo because he was barely a teenager. People are still mourning Castro so that says something about his ‘greatness’ and to compare him to ex presidents proves deep down you know it too.
