Juliana Mwila appointed acting ZNBC Director General

Share

The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Board of Directors has seconded Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Director for Press and Planning, Juliana Mwila to act as the Director General of the corporation.

ZNBC Board of Directors Chairperson, Augustine Seyuba announced the development in a statement t ZANIS this evening.

The appointment of Mrs. Mwila follows the going on forced leave of ZNBC Director General, Joseph Salasini after workers at the institutions held sit-in protests alleging that the latter and his management had failed to run the institution.

Mr. Seyuba said there was need to appoint an acting Director General for ZNBC following the commencement of the audit at the corporation.

“Mrs. Mwila will co-ordinate operations at the corporation during the time of the audit to ensure that ZNBC continues to carry out its mandate,” Mr. Seyuba said.

A fortnight ago, ZNBC workers demanded the removal of their Director General, Mr. Salasini, whom they accused of having failed to run the institution and further called on the Auditor General to audit the corporation.

Mr. Salasini was subsequently put on leave to pave way for an audit.

  1. Juliana is very experienced in media issues. She is a dedicated professional and will definitely make a positive impact. Congrats Juliana! and wishing you the best. hope you will be confirmed because you trully deserve much more!

  2. I have no idea who Juliana is, so no comments. I know Seyuba though and he is a forward thinking man.

Ok. Congrats on the Acting Director appointment and please do a good job at ZNBC.

  4. Is it not funny that high powered positions placed in the care of progressive women are well taken care of. I shall give her the benefit of doubt.

  5. I am ashamed at how the TV presenters look and dress. Can someone order wardrobe for these people ZNBC has decided to put on internet TV. Can you also order some teleprompters. Update our people pls. Oh! by the way I hope Juliana Mwila is young blood. coz am campaigning for fresh new working Ideahs to third world Zambia. Oldies step up, shape up or stay out.

  6. I know Juliana, and yes, she is professional, dedicated and all that. But all that doesn’t add up to anything as long as she is coming out of the ministry of which Rev. Lt.-Gen. Ronnie Shikapwasha is boss and therefore calling all the shots. do you all seriously think it was the board that made the decision to have her run the ministry while the audit takes place? Naivety can be just as dangerous as inaction!! Like in the case of ZESCO the government first sucks all the money out of the corporation to finance MMD campaigns, and then turn around and condemn it for not delivering or making profit!! The answer is to offload both into private hands!

  7. Let’s see what a woman can do for ZNBC…the corporation’s hierarchy has always been dominated by men and i am glad that a woman will be in -charge for now. Congrats Juliana!

  8. Why did Grevazio Zulu and other pro-Salasin-ners order the pulling out of the story from the ZNBC news bulletins last night? Sort them out, JM, sort them out.

  9. to begin with may we see her CV. what was the basis of the appointment. did RB hand pick her?? pls zed lets not just accept this. let them explain why they say she is fit. LT its upon u to give us that data

  10. HAS PROGRAMMING IMPROVED?? HAS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED NEWS ENDED??? IF NOT THEN ITS REPLACING A LION FOR A LIONESS.

  11. if you want to commit suicide watch ZNBC (not to mention the adverts). Hope they do something about their programming. Congrats and good luck Mrs Mwila

  12. Not because of the gender, but the material content and wat can be delivered. Congratulations!

  13. Absolute nonsense. They should have tried Chibamba Kanyama. Juliana has absolutely no clue regarding broadcasting. The reason ZNBC has consistently under-performed is exactly because of appointments like these. I hope she won’t stay there for good and that they will eventually advertise the job and get a true broadcasting professional. In my books, Chibamba Kanyama tops the list, at least among those I know and can remember of right now. He is bright, a professional broadcaster with a University degree in the area and is also a very astute business professional as everybody knows. You can’t get them any better than that, especially pa zed. Juliana is a public relations professional, not a broadcasting professional.

  14. what ZNBC needs a a change in the mind set i hope thats what the new person is going to bring. its really disheartening when you switch to ZNBC they have nothing really to offer. so we will wait and see

  15. I agree they should have tried Chibamba Kanyama. He transformed ZSIC from a bankrupt company to profit making and managed the split before he left them for brewery and that woman Muyenga is exposed!

  16. Juliana who ??? Another political appointment. MMD That so. They have changed the cook but the ingredients are the same. No body can succeed at ZNBC. Ask Frank Mutubila, or Leonard Katumoya.

  17. Juliana Mwila was an editor at ZANA. At ZNBC, the problem is with people like Grevazio Zulu who even killed the story of the appointment of Juliana. If such people are weeded out, then we can hope to see some changes there.

  18. No 19. I agree with you. Until the MMD lets go, this will be an ongoing circus. Morgan Chonya, Zambian Union of Journalists (ZUJ) President, in making submissions to the Public Accounts Committe on Broadcasting last week alluded to the low sales of the Times and Daily due to the political hand of the MMD. ZNBC is not watched in Lusaka because of the same reason. These are cosmetic c hanges. I feel sorry for Ms Mwila – she is being set up for a fall like all the others. Working as a professional is really hard kumyesu.

  19. she won’t change anything . . . things will only change if ZNBC is sold off or put in private jands not cadres. . . they are just missusing our 3 pins . . . why should i pay 3 pin only to watch RB boarding planes & helicopters everyday . . . ukutupa aba bantu aba!!!

  20. AH!!! FINALLY, a WOMAN……Juliana Mwila is a great human being a professional…..we wish her God’s blessings….

  21. AH!! FINALLY, a WOMAN…Julian Mwila is a great human being and a professional…we sih her Gods’ blessings……

  22. It’s not about her ability but about the whole system. ZNBC is stuck in 1972 and cannot progress with the same people. It needs an overhaul from the technical chaps right to the reporters and presenters. Anyway, what do I know??

  23. There is to much political interference in the running of Parastatals and ZNBC in particular. I know Mrs Mwila, she is able to deliver but I fear for her, the hand over her is too strong, not even chibamba or kantumoya would resist. Like Zanaco sell 51% shares of ZNBC to the private sector.

  24. The fact that she is female does not make things any better. ZNBC has just got to have a total shift in how it handles its affairs starting from the quality of people working there(apart from a handfu who are doing their best). For Julian,”he who pays the piper calls the tune”,I dont expect any major change from her as there is 100% political interference in running of this corporation. Katwishi, fili okotuya pa Zed.

  25. its time to try a woman let us give her a chance becouse for the board to pick her of all the many qualified men and women than she is the best for that job. God bless you madam.
