Africa is not completely free – Father Pikiti

Share

A Catholic priest in Kasama says Africa up to now is not practically free despite many countries gaining Political Independence from their colonial masters.

Saint Johns Parish Priest Fr. Rudolf Pikiti in his morning homily at cathedral church in Kasama today said most African countries are not practically free because they still depend on Western countries to service them financially.

Father Pikiti observed that even if most countries were independent, some African natives mistreat their fellow Africans due to positions they hold in the society.

He called on Africans to remain united and fight for peace to gain economic and social independence to make Africa a better continent admired by the Western world.

Father Pikiti expressed concern over some developed countries which have decided to withdraw medical aid to Zambia due to the loss of the K10billion in Ministry of Health because many innocent people’s lives are going to be lost.

He also called on Zambians to join hands in developing the nation on the principle of love for each other. He said freedom fighters liberated the nation and lost their lives in the hope of a better nation.

The Parish Priest urged Christians to pray hard for its national leaders not to be selfish but to work hard to serve their people in order to develop the nation.

He also urged Zambians to strive to work hard and attain economic independence to enable the nation fends for its self in all its needs.

Father Pikiti pointed out that freedom fighters who died would not forgive Zambians if they would not put their efforts to better the nation.

  1. ……as long as the donors have got it by its ntwenos, because it keep begging it will never be free

  2. On the other hand, it is important to point out that the Western countries needs Africa more than Africa needs them! The rules that they make us learn at school are not the ones that they apply in their political game. Those that have lived long enough in the Diaspora know what I mean….
ask yourself which continent would suffer the most if each continent decided to stop sharing it’s resources and consume them for itself? You will find yourself in the scenario as it was at the beginning of the exploration/invasion of the imperialists.

  3. Ode to Abigail:

    On African Liberation Day, Abigail
    I call upon you
To come out of your self-imposed sabbatical
    On this day
Our forefathers brought us the OAU
The champion of our liberation struggles
Now we have the African Union
    And Nepad
To foster our social and economic emancipation
    You need not fear
    Some badmouthed and slanderous bloggers
    Because they are a few
And just a bunch of mere nincompoops

    I miss your poetic citations.

  5. Had a dream:all Europeans moved to occupy the African continent. The Africans occupied Europe. After 20 years, the events are for anyone to guess. Hint? Bloggers in Diaspora moved to Africa!

  6. Yaba, what a message.

I am appalled by “Father Pikiti pointed out that freedom fighters who died would not forgive Zambians if they would not put their efforts to better the nation” for the dead are dead and will not have time to forgive others who may be dead of alive. All they are waiting for is judgment from God when Jesus Christ shall come again. With this, I urge all Zambians to be alert of misleading statements like this one from a person who claims to be teaching God’s word.

On “Father Pikiti expressed concern over some developed countries which have decided to withdraw medical aid to Zambia due to the loss of the K10billion in Ministry of Health because many innocent people’s lives are going to be lost”, let us do our own things and stop blaming others for our failures. Why must developed countries be held responsible for non-performing developing countries’ failures. Look at how the Chinese as a develping nation are hard working. How about the South Africans or indeed our friends in Tanzania. Why are some Zambians thinking that Zambia so special to need help by condemning those who assist us sometimes when they do not deem it fit to do so? Let us learn to work hard for there is no substitute.
