He aid the Rwandan refugees have also conducted themselves well and the local authority was satisfied with their behavior.

  1. Minister of Rwanda – Put away the machetes in your country and there will be no need for refugees! ala!

  2. I think the refugees in Zambian that came from Rwanda, Angola, Congo and other countries should be given permanent residency and if they so wish then themselves came apply for citizenship. Some have made their lives in Zambia and do not want to go back to their home country Zambia has become their home so let them stay in Zambian and let them be Zambians too. Those who wish to go back allow them to go back.

  3. When its no longer safe to live in your own country and you run to another country, you are a refugee.A refugee is human too.America has benefited from refugees.I work with refugees in England and I know many doctors and nurses who contribute alot to the NHS.Rwandese refugees are enterprising, they run business and even employ Zambians. At the trend things are moving in Zambia, some of you refugee haters might find yourselves in Congo! The Geneva Convention of 28th July,1951 states clearly the rights of a refugee even the AU.A refugee is a vulnerable person and should be given a choice of staying or returning to his own country not chased out,he is not an illegal immigrant but a person under protection of the host government under International Law.

  4. A person fleeing persecution according to the Geneva Convention of 28th July,1951 should not be penalised for entering another country illegally or without documents.Because a person fleeing has to escape to preserve his/her life and sought asylum and protection in another country.Zambia is a signatory to many issues concerning refugees.Don’t blame your unemployment on refugees or foreigners, they didn’t cause this, nobody gives them anything for free. Most refugees are poor and are usually the scorn of the host society.

  5. I have nothing against refugees and as pointed out by the bloggers, there are some quite useful ones among them – economically. This Minister however is not addressing the cause and he wants to treat side effects only. He must be preaching peace and telling us how Rwanda is doing in that respect and not lobbying for more confortable refugee camps!!
