  1. Nice pictures thanks LT and mada’m I never knew you were a Zambian Micheal Jackson. RIP my sister, you made a lot of people happy and forget the mess our country is in.

I have a question for our learned bloggers: Isn’t a national flag only reserved for state funerals or isn’t there some protocol about who can use it and when? Or can just anybody wrap their coffin in a national flag? Please our learned friends please educate us.

  2. Its always in Zambian spirit to give a befitting send off for our beloved ones. Its very sad that 10days ago Lily looked so healthy as can be seen in pic 14. Great loss indeed. RIP

  3. #9. U r hopeless… If u r not black, I’ll 4give u. U need help man, u really do need a lot of psychiatric help! To explain: Lily T is from the East of Zambia, the easterners do a ‘cimbuya’, something you wouldn’t understand considering the level of growth (if it indeed grew) of yo pea-size brain. They joke with the northerners (specifically Bembas) by dissing each other. The white stuff is usually maize meal but they are free to use any embarrassing but safe material. It is my great hope that u have understood at least 1 word of this explanation properly. If not, please die, we don’t need u. Yo carbon footprint from yo hind side is too huge.

  4. You can never understand life….why do we live and die especially at such a young age. It breaks my heart and we are not even 100% sure what happens after death. Life and death
is a misery and its scares the hell out of me. Honestly as painful as death is to us who remain behind, it is very difficult to understand it.

  5. Matworld Good to see that you have taken a break from books

I write what I like. Unless ndiwe muzungu or you have been away from Zambia for a long time, there is what is called tribal cousinship between easterners and northerns. And for your information, the people who have been smeared with mealie meal or powder are all easterners, not by design but by default, by the northers. As for the pictures, thank you LT. LilyT, go in peace and rest well in God’s shelter

  6. RIP Lily T. I was amazed at her popularity. About the usage of the flag as blogged by #8. Indeed its something the National Arts Council of Zambia should address to avoid embarrassing moments in future. NAC needs to consult with Cabinet Office and thereafter advise its members on the use of the flag during funerals of artists. The death of Lily T teaches us about how short life can be. We are simply not in control.

  7. i hate black people aka Mushota

If you do not like Black people so much then please stop posting on a black dominated website like Lusaka Times. Please proceed to your stormfront and youtube where you can post all your bigotry and others who think in your lines will support you.

We the black people posting on Lusaka Times are concerned about the development of Zambia. Something you are clearly not interested in as judging from your comments, your are here as a troll.

Please double click in the address bar of your internet browser and type in any other web address besides lusakatimes.com. If you want to discuss development issues, you are most welcome. If you are here to post bigotry, please go and visit another website.

  8. #16, you error big time, white people don’t say “…but black people…”. It’s like saying ba tonga che, or ba bemba che or like bafana che; its a roots thing that can only come from an indigenous zambian. #16, you are as black as my a**! Try another one. Sorry Lily, I just have to deal with this attention starved blogger trying to steal your moment.

  9. I hate black people – God bless you for having so much hatred towards black pipo. If I may ask what is it that blacks did to you to hate them so much?? Get a life and say better things…. pipo like you are the ones that should be eradicated from the face of the earth coz u are of no good to the pipo around you.

  10. No to take the glare from the funeral , I agree the National Flag is a mistake by the National Arts Council. The National Flag is reserved for a State Funeral and as far as I know THIS WAS NOT A STATE FUNERAL. Can the authorities concerned issue an apology for disrespecting our laws and institutions

  11. # 28
You are right #16 is trying to drew our attention from Lily T
He really needs to get a life and stay away from this website. If he is really a white, then he is a shallow minded being who doesn’t need our attention.

  12. Picture quality is quite poor………..# 8 I don’t think it’s everyone who is allowed to put the flag over the coffin. It’s not popularity or meekness that qualifies one to have the national flag to be draped over their coffin. I think it’s through distinguished service of one’s country that one gets to qualify hence usually it’s people in the military or distinguished politicians. You have to be an extraordinary citizen for you to qualify, having made a great contribution to your country. But then People do not know these things just like there is no respect for the national flag in Zambia.

  13. If we had proper Hospitals, she wouldnt have died. But our Country is such in a mess that only politicians from the rulling elite get good medical care.Shame on MMD,they are murderers.

  14. Thank you very much Lusaka Times team for deleting posts from and banning user “I hate black people” aka “Mushota”.

This shows what a great team you are. I would however encourage the team to have an effective flagging system where readers can flag certain contributions that are uncalled for so the Lusaka Times team can quickly pounce on such contributions and such users. Just a suggestion.

  15. Life can be funny!! Today alive, tomorrow dead. Lets prepare wills, like Late Mwanawasa. Video one better so that your relatives here it from the horse’s mouth. Part of my video will will read like this, ” …..all my property goes to my wife if she remains unmarried. If she decides to remarry, the property should be surrendered to my relatives….”

  16. LT, good to see that you have deleted I hate balck people’s comments. Just who the hell does he think he is and just what gives him the audacity to share his narrow mindedness with us. Good riddance to bad rubbish

  17. # 16 you are hopeless and you are a racist unhuman, God created us and its not for you to decide to eradicate us? Thank God you have no powers to eradicate us no matter how much you try we blacks will live on.Ububi. Pamenso kwati chitomato ichabola. this should be the last time you are talking about the black people waumfwa ayi?

VIVA TO THE BLACK PIPO!!! VIVA VIVA

  18. New little about Lily T’z muzik but heard her name often on the airwavez and may have seen her on TV/newspaperz. How very sad indeed and so young…God Almighty give strength to the dear onez she’z left.

  19. Ka’doyo

Don’t isolate yourself too much. LilyT was in SA a few weeks ago. If you’d never heard of her, surely, that was a good opportunity to watch her and get to know her. Where have you been since she started releasing albums

  20. Sad to see the pictures of Lily’s funeral. She was a great talent and would have gone on to do bigger and better things with her music. Her singing and her lyrics were very impressive and I hope that we keep the memories of our late Zambian musicians as well as nurture the talent of the future.

  21. In the first place, i pass my deep condolences to the family and may her soul rest in the Lords peace. NAC, please next time you should not use the national flag to any musician who departs coz you where suppose to ask from the cabinat first, that national flag has the meaning during the funerals, you do not just use it like that,no.

  22. #48 Lusaka you are right. Politics and work seems to have taken over my life and thats not good. From the comments it seems she was a good person and musician. May her soul rest in peace!

  23. uuuuhm! failures in musicians have now become serious ‘funeral time’ performers. Alot of faces that once graced Zambian music are in the pics. Pics 11 and 12, what is that soldier doing in uniform. I thought regulation permit a soldier to attend a funeral in uniform only when it is duty related. Sad Lilly, we shall miss you as a scribe. Surely state funeral yes, a national flag is used to drap the coffin, not each and every jim and jack. Was it a state funeral?

  24. Ndifye bwino boyi. ama broke chebe. i am even embarrased to admit it. The weather looks steady today although CPT weather can change in a split second. What is bringing you to the S.A mother city?

  25. #59.. shame, you dont deserve to be broke , you too blessed not to be loaded…just go and swipe and close your eyes, it will go through..Works for mwa… I am coming for a Township Marketeting Summit, looking forward to it. Its very sad about Lily mwe!

  26. #63 I will meet you then at the nearest township pub on Tuesday my friend so you can show me with your card just how you do it ne?…LOL

  27. Kadoyo…lol..will take you shopping mwana… if they say its not approved, you tell them to try it again……. if it fails again we’ll tell them we are Caster Semenya’s cousins…. and if that doesn’t work you get upset and say “do you know who i am?, while the other person is dialing the embassy’s number..lol..lol.. they let us go….Have a fab weekend

  28. Lilly….you will be graetly missed, you were agreat woman and a true african child that stood your grounds….may your soul rest in eternal peace…..

  29. RIP Lily T. You are now in God’s loving arms. The question I would like answered is: “Why was the national flag used?” Is everyone entitled to use it now?

  30. May soul rest in internal peace. Government must be charged with gross neglience for the poor medical facilities in the country. shame on rb and his MMD. Viva UPND/PF, the only option available now

  31. You people “i hate black people” is just a sick guy i cant imagine he has managed to frastrate you so much. He is black but “sick” do not be bothered by such people.I live in England even the hardcore racisist will not say such Trash.
Lilly T, we shall follow you everyone has an appointment with death.God bless your family who have lost a bread winner and beloved one.

  32. Shame on you racialist/s. At a time when we are all supposed to join our hands together in cerebration that at long last, we have a black president at the White House – some of you are still enchained in a jailhouse of racial bigotry, preconception, inferiority, idi0cy and utter insanity. YES, WE CAN!
REST IN PEACE LILY. I may not have known you in person or by your music. It is nonetheless very clear from the comments above that you have left behind a horde of family, friends, relatives, fans, etcetera yearning for your acquaintance, affection, goodwill and music.

  33. #79. It was not apprpriate to use the flag. I hope the authorities such as NAC can correct such things in future. Sadly in Zambia emotions do at times prevail so much over us, such that we do wrong things. To every rule there are exceptions. Much as the flag is for state funerals there are exeptional talents in Zambian music such as late Paul Ngozi, Ackim Simukonda, Chris Chali etc who would derserve a flag over their coffins without anyone raising issues. Lily T, though good never reached that status. In soccer our Kalusha even if he was to die 20 years from today would derserve a flag cos of his unmatched soccer exploits.

  34. Rest in peace Lilly T.We never saw U sick but we’ve seen Mulongoti n Shikapwasha coughing like babies in public and the VP George himself limping and scratching his P parts in front of state cameras whilst visiting a certain chief

  35. I don’t see any big deal in Lilly T’s coffin being drapped with the Zambian flag. She was Zambian – its her flag. We are being too fussy with this protocol business. People fly the
flag on their cars, houses, heads etc. Matter of choice. Is someone going to be arrested for using
    it at Lilly T’s funeral?

  36. Our government should really be working on improving our healthcare system, mwaikalilafye ukutuma ama minister kufyalo fyabanenu when your own people are dying of curable conditions and diseases that can easily be managed. It’s so disheartening

  37. obviously like your website but you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the truth then again I’ll surely come back again.

  38. #71 Ba Moze, Alubusu died in 2012 M.H.S.R.I.P.
“Lily T, its been for 4 years since we last heard from you. I loved your songs and I will still love it, I will never forget the songs you made for us to listen. I believe that where ever you are you are with GOD THE HEAVENLY FATHER. I will always remember you until we meet again on the other side. M.H.S.R.I.P”
    Amen.

  39. I realy miss u lily tembo I don’t know how life is like this. I cry when I listen to your songs. Miss u dear…………………………..

  40. Lily T….. this 2015, its now 6 years since you went in a journey of no return (sleeping in the Lord). you are put on rememberance by the Zambian media appreciating for the great songs you sang, charity works, and being friendly to us…. you may have gone but you are still alive in our hearts (Zambians)….

forever you will be remembered, until we meet again on the other side..
