Patriotic Front Kasama Central aspiring candidate Geoffrey Mwamba has stuck to his tribal attacks on MMD candidate Burton Mugala ahead of the October 15 by-election.

Mr. Mwamba has maintained that only a Bemba should be elected as Member of Parliament in Kasama District.

He charged that Northern Province and Kasama in particular belonged to the Bemba people and that nobody from outside should dare contest elections in the District.

Mr. Mwamba said he would not retract his earlier statements where he urged the people of Kasama to vote for him because he was a Bemba.

He was speaking on a live programme on Radio Mano in Kasama today.

Mr. Mwamba charged that provincial minister John Chinyanta, his permanent secretary Mwalimu Simfukwe among others, are outsiders, who should not have been allowed to work in what he termed as Bemba-land.

He urged electorates in Kasama Central constituency not to waste their vote on MMD candidate Burton Mugala because he comes from Muyombe in Isoka District.[quote]

Mr. Mwamba further called on Kasama residents to be wary of people from other tribes who wanted to infiltrate the District with the intention of taking over their land.

PF members of Central Committee Fidelis Kapoka and Samuel Mukupa including PF Kasama Mayor Fidelis Chishoma, who were part of the radio programme, also strongly supported Mr. Mwamba’s alleged tribal remarks, saying Kasama is purely for Bembas and not anybody else.

Mr. Chishoma went further to accuse Mr. Mugala of being disabled and not fit to be an MP.

But MMD spokesperson Mike Mulongoti has condemned the alleged tribal sentiments by named opposition party contesting the Kasama Central by-election.

Mr. Mulongoti said it was morally wrong for the PF to engage in tribal campaigns ahead of the October 15 Kasama Central by-election.

He has called for issued based campaigns instead of politics of character assassination.

Others contesting the Kasama Central seat are Maggie Ng’ona of the All Peoples’ Congress party, UNIP’s Alexander Chansa and independent candidates Pastor Christy Ntalasha and Ayoub Amiar.

The seat fell vacant after the resignation of area MP Saviour Chishimba last month.

  1. This is what has destroyed Zambia, nepotism. One should be elected on their ability to lead not how many people in his constituency are tribesmen.

  2. If this is the quality of people who want to form the next Govt. then we are in maningi trouble! We are going back 40 years! Such stupid men should not have any room in our society. Interestingly, both leaders of the Pact are quiet. The whole pact is an embarrassment.

  3. GBM keep it up! This is what obtains in all provinces save Southern Province. The Tongas are very good for allowing a Sikota to stand in Livingstone. Don’t these chaps have where they come from. This is a damn good question. Its only urban Copperbelt and Lusaka which should be shared! Look at Chiluba the chief tribalist, he only kept one tribe at all key sectors of the economy, this is what can be blamed not MPs. Once again KEEP it up GBM. Let the real tribalists who are condemning you get choked with anger. This Ka Chiluba created impression in most uncritical Zambians that Tongas cannot rule. Why GBM is condemned is because of a relationship with Tongas. Chiluba hates Tongas!

  4. I don’t know of any Bemba who is an MP in any rural town e.g Solwezi,Nakonde or Chipata why should Kasama have a non Bemba when its the heart of Lubemba?People in Isoka,Nakonde and so on didn’t vote Sata or PF MPs because they view them as Bemba. The tone may be bad but surely MMD should have picked someone from Bembaland period. The Litunga would never entertain a Bemba MP in Mongu neither would the people of Namwala and their chief.Even George Mpombo is an MP of Kafulafuta his homeland so is my mulamu Peter Daka MP somewhere near his village in Eastern province not Chibombo!

  5. I think most right thinking bembas are not that tribal but its dissapointing that our biggest tribal group,Bemba can have shameless malcontents like GBm and tribalist.

  6. i am a bemba but this bullshit! how can one have the balls to utter such cow dung in the 21st century? and this is the man the so-called coalition are using as a litmus test? these ******** will run zambia into the ground!viva RB.

  7. GBM’s detestable xenophobic bigotry has only armed patriotic Zambians from the ruling MMD and peripheral interest groups to summarily defeat the PF- UPND PACT wherever it surfaces its archaic tribal thralls across the country. Their unholy alliance founded on strong shared tribal bigotry will henceforth remain trapped in defensive mode. After 45 years in the PF-UPND playbook, Zambians are foreigners within their country?

  8. Mr. Mwamba said he would not retract his earlier statements where he urged the people of Kasama to vote for him because he was a Bemba.End Quote

This is a very sad statement indeed. The most surprising thing however is that the PF members have not condemned this statement. In fact some have supported the statement. The PF including Mr. Michael Sata (IMO) are guilty by association. Why haven’t they condemned GBM’s statements. GBM is an extremist tribalist who should not be allowed to (IMO) to contest any election. Why hasen’t the UPND which is part of the pact condemned the statement. They are also guilty by association. Could it be that they share similar views when it comes to Southern Province?[tbc

This is the so called change that bloggers on LT have been calling for. Change that wants to separate the nation. GBM said “Mr. Mwamba further called on Kasama residents to be wary of people from other tribes who wanted to infiltrate the District with the intention of taking over their land”. What land? the Zambian Land? and who has this intention? GBM must clarify.

This is the same change that PF wants to bring. One that will polarize the nation and bring about tribe supremecy? Lets be serious. People of Kasama, if you want development, togetherness, love and peace, then vote for the MMD. The PF has exposed itself.

  10. You PF cadres are not only pathetic but really narrow minded. If that is view of leadership, why should Zambians outside Mpika vote for Sata to be their President????? Why should Luapula, North Western, Central, Copperbelt, Eastern,Lusaka and even within North people outside Mpika vote for him? Don’t you see that is what has failed Ichilema to find a national political stage.HH is today a Monze President only because of his tribalism.

  11. Where is Hhe he maestro, Curtely wifely, Chewe the vag.., Abena CB! Finally I have retired at the age of 71, no more wasting time on sites like LT and Dogs! Bye.

  12. I didnt hear any of you as*Sholes scream your lungs out when lupia said people of his province should vote for him. Isnt that tribalism. Get a life. Pretending that Zambian politics are not tribal-based is , like I said yesterday, looking at sh*t and declaring that you smell a rose!

  13. If kasama is for bembas only, GBM should move back his businesses and houses from the Soli land of Lusaka back to Kasama because solis will be forced to say Lusaka is for Solis only according to the PF playbook.Should be sanctioned to move out within 6 months and seek travelling document and clearance to move out of kasama. This is very pathetic leadership PF has espoused.

  14. If kasama is for bembas only, GBM should move back his businesses and houses from the Soli land of Lusaka back to Kasama because solis will be forced to say Lusaka is for Solis only according to the PF playbook.Should be sanctioned to move out within 6 months and seek traveling document and clearance to move out of kasama. This is very pathetic leadership PF has espoused.

  15. Am bemba from the same village with GBM nomba ubututu bwaba ku lubemba.we bembas are the most pompous and tribalist beings in zambia.that’s why ours is the least developed province in zambia.go to southern province and see how tongas have developed their satelite towns magoye, chisekesi, pemba, muzoka, name them it even makes your journey to livingstone shorter.just make the journey from mpika to kasama in the bemba interland you pass through the jungle of sabwa, mpepo, ishitu, chanda weyaya, nkole mfumu by the time you reach kasama which is a shorter distance by far than lusaka to livingstone.you will feel like you were on an expedition in the ituri.bembas are a shame.go to the namwangas just between nakonde and isoka you find kalungu and sansamwenje.it shows you that a people live there.

  16. The truth hurts! Tell it like it is, GBM! Why don’t they send Shikapwasha to Petauke and see what will happen to him?

  17. GBM should only retract his statement after lupiya retracts his stattement that eastern province is for easterners. But because Senior Citizen uyou’ve got you head so far up your A8.s.s, you can’t see beyond your own di.c.k.

  18. For this tribal nonsense to end, Zambia should have fedral states. Look at how Europe is divided, how many EU states have more than one language????

  19. GBM IS DAMN RIGHT! KASAMA FOR IS A BEMBA CAPITAL , WANT MUGALA TO BE MP? GO TO NAKONDE SIMPLE! THAT IS HOW IT IS, IN EVERY PROVINCE. IF NOT MR SENIOR CITZEN, THEN GIVE US EXAMPLES FROM OTHER PROVINCES, WHY IS IT TRIBALISM ONLY WHEN SAID BY A BEMBA OR TONGA, GIVE US A BREAK! VERY SOON WE SHALL HEAR THAT ANY BODY CAN BE A CHITIMUKULU SINCE IT ONE ZED ONE NATION ,IN THIS ONE NATION CERTAIN PORTIONS OF LAND BELONG TO INDIVIDUAL ETHINIC GROUPS YOU CAN,T CHANGE THAT SORRY!

  20. When we eventually get a Lozi chitimukulu, your bigotry will be cut to size. Guys continue working with ladies in mwinelubembas royal family, the chief is chosen matrilenial style….viva Obama.

  21. Freakin *****…. and I am a proud Bemba. There should be no room for such imbeciles in Zambian politics. We are better than this donkey’s ***.

  22. Akapondo those words are almost prophetic. Pride commeth before a fall, I love all Zambians, though some get on my very nerves. Nepotism and tribalism are evils that still hold Zambia back.

  23. #23 Arabee, glad Obama “married patrilinealy”, otherwise he wouldn’t have been president if he had married “matrilinealy”. Needed those black votes… viva Michelle!

  24. Maybe the solution to this tribalism which Zambia never experienced during Kaunda’s Govt, is to have all MP’s be elected from other provinces and not from their provinces of origin , they should also by mandatory live in those constitiencies, i think this will solve even the issue of non competence as they will have to prove themselves and show good leadership skills.

  25. While GBM is condammed about his words, bear in your minds that even RB at one point said eastern province is for the easterners, among other politicians zambia has.So this is just a vicious circle in zambian politics from all 9 provinces in the country. Therefore with this kind political mealage in a poor country like zambia, it would definately take years for zambia to develop.

  26. Whether we like it or not tribal politics is at play in africa and the world over, anyone remember how that annoying woman (Sarah Palin) from Alsaka came into the limelight, she was brought in to blend with her own people, the real american native american, she was one of their own, that was regionalism, and here in africa we call it tribalism.there was a time when all MP’s decided to go back to their villages to become MPs, all these notable and high profile MPs went back to their own provonces because they knew that people in urban areas cannot be fooled anymore, back then it was not called tribalism, but now the goal posts have been shifted because someone has cried out loud, katele went back to chiengi coz he knew he was not going to win anywhere, that said GBM was wrong to say what he said

  27. Senior Citizen you amaze me with your rants that are born out of a political cadre whose lifehood depends on defending. Just recently VP Kunda told the people in Chitabo the lala that you have to vote for your own. Did you open your acidic mouth to rants and call people all sorts of names. The truth is let us not turn a blind eye on the fact of the matter that people are voting based on tribal lines and this has been promoted by those in corridors of power. I can remember Chiluba telling people in Kabwe that I have brought your own vote for him, During Levy the same and that’s why we have RB. RB has continued with the same divide and rule. In Mbala, Nakonde , Buyombe and Isoka they did not vote for PF but MMD because theirs belong to MMD. KK time it was possible to vote for anyone.

  28. #18 Kapondo, since independence Northern province is one of the most neglected provinces just like Northwestern used to be. Maybe Kapondo your are not a good historian if you really come from Kasama. You are telling cheap lies after lies. When you contribute remember there are people who have got hard evidence to prove you wrong. Remember Northern Coop Union HQ it was for the Si from Mbala. Nakonde & Isoka.KK ended up sacking the General Manager Sichalwe for employing only people from these towns. In term of awarding food suppliers to govt institutions the same go on and that’s why maybe the have developed their areas. They voted for MMD because theirs are MMD. But GBM as to be sensetive to his comments.

  29. #19, 20 and 22 When you make analogies, there must be consistency. Mugala is a fellow northener. We are not talking about bringing a Lozi from Mongu to stand in Kasama – arbitrarily! If bo Sililo has lived all his life in Chinsali and probably even made more developmental contribution to Chinsali than a Mulenga – why shouldn’t he stand as MP for that area. If RB or Kunda made careless comments about tribalism, I am very sure you were not happy and most likely expressed your displeasure. Let’s avoid politics of tribalism.

  30. #27. YOU REALLY MADE MY DAY. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER FOOL WITH NO MEANINGFUL AGENDA OTHER THAN CHEAP POLITICKING. THE WHOLE EPISODE IS FULL OF DRAMA. I DONT CARE WHO IS FLOATED FOR THE SEAT BUT WHAT SOMEONE IS CAPABLE OF DOING FOR THE CONSTITUENCY, MARKET HIMSELF WITH A VISION AND NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT HIS TRIBE. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!

  31. #35 Jeff Mwanza, My Mbuya the peoblem is when people vote for people who are poor they forget what they have been voted for. All they want is to make money for themselves. The only time they will visit their constituences is election time. with chitenge materials and salt to bribe people. Vision and leadership is what Zambia is lacking to move forward beyond tribal differences and live side by side in harmony to claim our lost traditional values that onces used to be the motto of our founding fathers that we came to learn and adhere to still Kafupi manupulated political prostitutes by his doctotrine of ‘this is your own fresh and blood. ‘ This is a song to all political parties. Give us a break you visionless and crude leaders the chiluba doctorine.

  32. #37. I very much agree with you. This caliber of our so called leaders is very sickening. Thank mbuya wanga I like your the way you have described these visionless leaders.

  33. While Gadhafy was giving his infamous UN General Assembly speech, Rupiah Bwezani Kanitundila Banda was busy Kayopering (snoring on duty) his mouth was so wide agape one could even clearly see the valve at back of his mouth prompting Gadhafy to shou and quote: “hey you, you’re sleeping”. Shame shaaame!!!!!!!

  34. What happaned to one Zambia one Nation?# 21 Aside from your beauty, what you are talking about is not logical. We do not need to look elsewhere but KK.

  35. PAFWENAMWINE,
I cant get anything tangible from the argument you struggling to put across as you try to tackle my point. If there was tribalism in Nothern cop what did that hinder northerners we bembas to be pricise from developing our areas.it’s because of the same wapped people like GBM.he bought the milling in kasama and dismantled meanwhile the Greeks APG milling bought a milling plant and under difficuilt conditions maintained if.you talk of food suppliers been prefered.you lying.the namwanga’s know that in choli “beans” that’s why they work hard and cultivate it was you are busy cultivating millet for consuption.we bembas are like the HUTUs marjority in number but blank upstairs.

  36. I urge the people of Kasama not to vote for GBM and Mugala. Let these politicians know that we dont vote for parties but individuls. Go for all peoples party or even an independent. GBM is a fool. We should not let people like him be a leader. We as PF/ UPND supporters are very dissapointed with the calibre of the man.

  37. May the Lord punish whoever started this tribal cancer. Who thought such discussions would be heard of in Zambia, it was beyond imagination especially with the legacy KK left us. Are Zambians losing every good Legacy. Time to think Zambians, we can’t sink to such low levels. God forbid, may the Lord restore everything that the locusts and cankerworm have eaten. One Zambia one nation, toleke Limpompo ndimutima umo.

  38. That type of politics do not have a place in Zambia. This whatever you call him must pay for those careless utterances. I see a Zambia where if a bemba person feels strongly about going to stand in Sinazongwe, they will feel free to do so and the people there will not be looking at what tribe the candidate is but their ability to push for their case in parliament. Any part of Zambia is for Zambians and man if you are a green NRC carrying individual, you are welcome to stand in KASAMA central, does not matter your surname but you are Zambian. Away with PF and their retrogressive cadres.

  39. Kapondo it may be difficult for you to get my point because you can’t read between the lines . If you go to Mbala town centre how many people who are not Mambwes have shops/stores there? None. Because they believe Mbala belonges to Mambwes. This careless and none sensetivity talk is the Chiluba doctrine and can be reflected in the way elections are now conducted. iF you look at the voting pattern in Northern province, Mpulungu , mbala, nakonde and Isoka went to MMD because all the MPs come from these areas are MMD and the people voted for their. Development the same as voting. The thing is you as a bemba you will employ anyone because he /she has got qualifications to do the job and not because he /she is your tribal mate. Things have changed from bad to worse since KK .

  40. This man has got a point. Try a Mr Mulenga in Magoye and see if he can even pick up a point whether on the pact or not. Try a Mr Kasonde in Kalabo.

  41. Much as I agree such statements only lead to division, can some one on here give me a name of a bemba person who has ever won an election in places like Monze, Kalabo, Sesheke, Senanga, Kalomo and MUlobezi? Other than when MMD (in the middle of Zambians suffering euphoria in 1991) imposed people to stand on their ticket the pattern is Lozi stand in Lozi land, Hachishani in Hachishani land. You have to be naive to think otherwise. I am not bemba by the way.

  42. #4, 47 and a lot other tribalist Bembas please stop taking uninformed cheap shots at the people of western province. The fact is they are more accomodating of other ethnicities. Point No: 1 Austin Biemba Liato is a Mbunda and MP in Kaoma Central a supposedly Nkoya constituency. 2. Joseph Mulyata MP for Mongu Central is Luvale in a supposedly Lozi area. Honestly I do not see why Mugala should not stand in Kasama because he is also a Northener. The question we should be asking about is whether anyone of these two i.e GBM or Mugala are residents in this constituency. I would rather we had a law requiring parliamenbtary candidates to be residents of the constituency they are contesting.

  43. This is what happens when you have leaders who think with their mouth than heads. I can say GBM has the audacity to say all this rubbish because of the precedence MMD and RB set in the 2008 ellections when the late Teta was 100% campaigning on tribal lines. Now this is what we are reaping. Thats why it is important to get the present crop of MMD out of power. The MMD is seting very bad precedence which will strongly harm our great nation if we dont stop them. They have done a lot nonsense and now people with small brains like Mwamba are taking after them. And what can Mulongoti say??? he should be ashamed that he is always contradicting himself. PLEASE ZAMBIANS LET US SENT MMD TO HELL IN 2011. We dont want inspid politics in Zambia.

  44. I agree with you Mbuluwa on one point though. If you look back at my posts, you will see that I am against imposing people on locals. You will find this is common now especially in by-elections. I was very much against that Mufulira man who thought he had to go and stand on the MMD tickect in NW province simply because he comes from there.

  45. # 48 you are wise. What has Mr.GBM done in his land given the fact that he is a business man. That’s why Super Ken can be remembered for his one Zambia one Nation slogan. Don’t be cheated by cheat politics we are one especially that 90% of Zambians claim to be christians.

  46. This opposition litmus paper will show favour to MMD, Iam no supporter of MMD. I align myself to change that I expect in the “pact”, but if these GBM Fo***ols are the potential ministers to come, then forget it. I doubt, Kasama seat will be taken by this “tombolilo” abdomen businessman, shame on him. The way I see it even this pact must tighten their socks, otherwise Zambians risk perpertual low calibre leadership and remain forever gullible, it must be said now, enough is enough.

  47. Lets just continue voting on TRIBAL LINES. We feel if your own is voted, he can try to improve your lives. Look at the road from Chisekesi to Chikuni. It will never be tarred unless there will be a TONGA president. LIFE CONTINUES…..

  48. Senior citizen # 8, did you, in your primary school read the books Jelita nad Mulenga Sara and Robert Kalumbi Banda and others. The English was very simple for everyone to understand. Your english leaves a lot of questions un solved. Please write the simplest english you MMD cadre who is in self exile in the USA. Most educated bloggers use the simplest English. Not you who has studied the dictionary. What Mwamba said was s i l l y. are the bembas the only people that are going to vote. this guy……………………………

  49. To say I am disgusted with the tribal sentiments that have been expressed by so-called politicians and some bloggers on this forum, would be an understatement of the highest magnitude. There is a clear lack of understanding or shocking ignorance about humanity. While people may naturally feel comfortable to associate with their ‘own’, it becomes something else when you endeavour to institutionalise it. Govt. and land are national. History has shown that reckless and irrational *****ic pursuits of tribalism have been the cause of unimaginable genocide and so-called ethnic cleansing atrocities.

  50. Are you telling me that MMD did not have a person that comes from that constituency to contest this seat? This is not a presidential but by-elections. GBM is right because you can not get a foreigner to come and rule you. It’s just that people just want to politic everything. Why isn’t UNIP complaining or hurt by GBM’s remarks? You saw how proud Teta was with his Solwezi Central constituency. I just hope MMD looses because ubushishi nabu tupesha sana.

  51. Lack of education is a very serious diseases indeed. It must be noted that millions of people read LT and most of these are voters. I had very strong hopes that may be the pact was going to bring change in 2011 but alas!!! The true picture of the pact has been demonstrated by this one individual in the name of GBM. I can assure GBM that let him remain a Bemba of Kasama but will never ever rule Kasama as MP.
The pact is moving towards self distruction because there has been no statement from the top brass to make amends – they simply support what GBM is saying & that means the pact is tribal and will never rule Zambia but continue shadow boxing in the opposition after 2011. No wonder Sakwiba and Sichinga resigned from triabal associations – they are educated, have morals and stand for Zed

  52. Hahahahahahahahahaha…..wait and see…this is nothing. One VERY FUNNY thing about this GBM is that his WIFE is NAMWANGA….and iam sure she is related to his MMD rival. I wonder what her take on all this is…or maybe like all the people in this fool’s life,he doesnt give a damn what she feels!

  53. Hope GBM wont stop me from marrying my Bemba fiance from Kasama coz i dont hail from there.Hope also he wont stop me from establishing my business in Kasama.

  54. To state that someone cannot be an MP because they are disabled is further evidence of how politically bankrupt, selfish, unsophisticated and heartless most of the so-called politicians are.

  55. #60 ZAMBIA ONE. If it is true that GBM is not married to a BEMBA, I urge the wife to deny him sex. Its like Bemba for Bembas, Tonga for Tongas, Namwanga for Namwangas. Anyway, even if am not Namwanga, I can confess that ALL ladies I have admired are mostly Namwangas. They are nice chicks particularly when they are still young.

  56. Its true that the truth hurts, what GBM is saying is true, you people will try to put up many wise and well articulated points about the bad effects of trabalim, emblacing one zambia one nation, senior citizen bla bla..but the fact still remains that humans by nature always try to allign themselves with something familiar ,in other ways people have a problem accepting something different so it is only natural that a Bemba will go for a bemba, tonga for a tonga,so you guys better accept this crazy part about human nature and you dont have to learn sociology to understand this…it bad but thts how it is

  57. Hey,guys outer there i got your advice. But is there any other means of going to the west( KUMANGALANDE) i envy you guys out there, ka mushota help me. i have never been on a plane before tell what is it like? bloggers help.

  58. #4 – Man, you tell such pathetic lies you stinking tribalist Tonga fool. If the Tongas could not allow Sikita to lead UPND, just how could they allow him to be MP for Livingstone? Any person who has been to Livingstone will tell you that Toka Leyas are not Tonga, they never ever were and shall never ever be, they are Lozi. It is for this reason that Kebby was called Sililo and not Siasuntwe! Ask Chief Mukuni who he is and he will tell you. So, it was because Livingstone is Barotseland that’s why Sikota won, stinking Tonga tribal bigots went to campaign against him but still failed. Only three months ago, Nalubamba and Chief Chona were trying to get my uncle Chief Mukuni disciplined for telling Rupiah he wants to be paramount Chief. Fools, during Lewanika’s time, these chaps were our…

  59. Where can i find a fat, ugly, wealthy, red-skined and lonely muzungu to marry and get there.if there is any muzungu outer there with this qualities, am here waiting for you.with love THINK TANK.

  60. Indeed, during Lewanika’s days, Lozi Impis would go raid Tongaland for cows and women, then kill all the Syamachendez. Today they want to grow horns to stub us their old masters? What kind of indiscipline is this? People should know their place in society.

  61. #64 Mo taimu Spot on mate! There is no way a Mr Mulenga will go to Kalabo or Mongu/Monze and win an election. No way. It`s sad yes but only true. But, I believe the issue of one being a local should be more important than this. This is why one was at pains trying to convience me that non Lozis or Tongas have won in tonga and lozi lands.

  62. This is terrible but atrue reflection of oir polotics accross all parties. Now while it is time for MMD to go I fear that we will be laeping from boiling pot to a fire > you see Sata represented all that was wrong in MMd and the sighns are that he still does. UPND would give hope but it appears to be entirely tribal design. I really done know what the way foward politically for Zambia is. I refused to say we are doomed but things dont look bright. God bless Mother Zambia.

  63. #72Positivist Pa Zed. Let`s learn to be realistic. Each political party is strong where it`s leaders hail from. In 1991 when the rest of the country was voting for MMD, the people of eastern aligned themselves with UNIP (Mama Betty effect). UPND has always been strong where HH comes from. Sorry to say but you see these patterns in developed countries as well. Sad but true.

  64. People stop this!!!!!!!!.I’m tonga I’m married to a bemba and I see bembas to be just as good as any other tribes .I think people who never went to school are the people preching this , come on zambia forget about this GBM we are one people that is why I will strongly encourage my children to learn bemba and tonga and so if this so called GBM does’nt want other tribes I will encourage my children to go Kasama and de campaign him who told him that kasama is for bemba only .NOW AS A SUPPORTER OF THIS PF/UPND I’M NOW WORRIED ESPECIALLY IF HE WINS BECAUSE THAT WILL CONFIRM THAT IT IS TRUE NORTHERN PROVINCE CANNOT ACCOMODATE OUTSIDERS,THEN HH WORK UP YOU ARE JUST BEING USED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  65. magic round about I agree with you
actually that is the way it goes in all countries. A home boy is normally preferred and ones home area is normally the sourrce of political strength/ But I guess in the world warped way of thinking. The problem comes when you talk bout it in public. By the way why isnt the POST reporting this. And that goes for objective reporting, imagine someone in MMD said this and stood by his words

  66. it is un-fortunate that the silent tribalists only speak out loudly when condeming others as such.Rupiah set a precedence during campaigns last year in Eastern province lest we have forgotten before the next elections. Why should GBM be targeted for being real about it.Any one can stand in the cosmopolitan not rural ba-kaamba

  67. GBM has never been my favourite person and this is the kind of kickback that we are trying to discourage in african politics of appeasing those that are generous to the authorities, GBM donated his space for PF HQs so he is simply being appeased by PF. This is actually a shame! This man is arrogant and has no respect for anyone. And Kasama by election might be won by MMD on this account, i am assuming the Kasama people will vote on issue lines and not party lines.

  68. GBM has never been my favourite person and this is the kind of kickback that we are trying to discourage in african politics of appeasing those that are generous to the authorities, GBM donated his space for PF HQs so he is simply being appeased by PF. This is actually a shame! This man has no respect for anyone. And Kasama by election might be won by MMD on this account, i am assuming the Kasama people will vote on issue lines and not party lines.

  69. Politics of tribal lines are long gone. Zambia is for us all and we do not need dividers to rule. This is the reason why I like MMD so much because MMD does not divide but add stribes as one.

  70. # 78 could not agree with you more, all of guys bwataling(making noise) try getting land in western province if are not from there see if you will be able to. its possible to do so only in Southern, luapula , Central and Northern provinces. The Tongas and bembas are better because they speak out but believe me wait until you have a boss from North western then you will see tribaliasm and Nepotism in action. so please stop crying over the tycoon’s statement and get real.

  71. The trend is the same. While we don’t ascribe to any tribalism, GBM is just being courageous enough to say what others silently practice. Tell me if there’s any MP from any other tribe in our nine provinces apart from the line of rail where its free for all? You will never find a Bemba Mp in Mwinilunga and there will never be a Luvale MP in Luapula constituency. Face facts. Its every where period!

  72. Magicroundabout has summarised this whole issue. Lets not pretend and cheat ourselves about this , anyone can conduct a survey in the provinces apart from CB and Lusaka and you prove that mwamba is right with that pronouncement.

  73. Its only in Bemba districts where key administrative positions are manned by non-bembas. Is it a deliberate ploy to silence bembas? A bemba Council secretary in Isoka was once badly beaten by residents for alledgedly giving land to fellow Bembas which was not true. Few Bembas are happy to live with these people. It is the Mambwes and Namwangas that have taken up all the land for shops in all the Bemba dominated districts. The opposite is impossible.

  74. Nine chale am waiting to see your comment on this issue.I have a slight idea that GBM and the royal family he comes from, you are related.Come on bro what your view on this

  75. To hell with GBM,what does he think he is?And that Lozi cockroach.Livingstone is never barotseland that is bantu botatwe.Chief Mukuni is non entity,Toka Leya is as good as Lenge or Soli & these are basically Tongas.Lozis are as good as Mbundas or Nyengos.I have never kown tongas to be tribal thats why they have so much wealth coz they work hard for it

  76. Can a Mr Bwalya stand in Senanga? GBM you are dead right, Kasama is the heart of the bembaland. Mugala and Numugala are not bemba, let them represent their people. Why should a Mugala represent Bembas? eeeeh shameful.

  77. GBM will not make a good leader. Listen to stories about how badly the character treats his workers. Kasama people pliz leave this nut outside. Let him rot with his riches. The fella is arrongant, rude, cruel and fat, too fat.

  78. #85 regratably i have to agree with u.But u should notice how the same Lozi,s will try to outdo themselves once a whiteman or even a chinese applies for land in lozi land

  79. The most important thing is to be Zambian. Whether you are Bemba Zambian, Luvale Zambian or Kaonde Zambian is immaterial. If I had to employ, my main concern would be academic credentials, not whether you are a Kajoba, Musonda or Mukelabai. The people with this golden chance in the Kasama by-election should use merit as the basis to send somebody to Parliament

  80. I dont see the argument which goes ‘RB said it in Eastern province, so it is ok for this guy to say what he said in Kasama’, two wrongs dont make it right. If the pact are supposed to be offering a new vision for Zambia, then they can not behave like MMD. If they are not really different from the ruling party then what is the point of changing govt? Perhaps we should look at the suggestion offered by a fellow blogger who said that people should only stand in constituencies outside of their home areas. I really dont see the logic of calling a fellow Zambian a ‘foreigner’ in any part of the country. Also many Zambians are like myself and have famililal and blood ties with every part of the country. Even this guy Mwamba has a non-Bemba wife which highlights his own stupidity.

  81. I wonder what this means for the pact. Will people like Mwamba accept HH as the leader of the pact and will HH supporters who are equally as ignorant accept Sata as the potential leader? Does Sata as Bisa agree with what Mwamba has said?

  82. I cant believe that some zambians are happy to embrace politics of tribalism in today’s Zambia. I had wanted PF-UPND to win but now I’ve changed my mind because of this nonsense coming from GBM which the PF leadership has not condemned. The PACT is now in serious trouble.

  83. There’s a Bemba MP in Milanzi Constituency in Katete Eastern Province. I don’t understand this bemba supriority complex coupled with so called royalt. these are politiks of the brainless, mugala is a northerner despite not coming from kasama.

Gbm is a thug and you kasama chaps will chew your teeth with this man………..he’s ruthless. ask how many people will jumping on Germins trasport???????????kulibe only as a last resort

  84. Let the tribalists continue doing their thing if that is what they want but I encourage them to join us normal Zambians to foster economic development. Right now my MP 2011 campaign has started at home in Zambia.

    Have a blessed day all.

    __
    Matthew 6:33
But seek ye fist the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things shall be added unto you.

  85. GBM is a failure politically he should just concetrate and his his businesses, this is not a business for characters like him. He will simply destroy the opposition by his sentiments. The man has got too much abusive language and those that know him well cannot even vote for him. He has no qualities of a leader. Those sentiments and condemnation must not go to every Bemba and must be directed to GBM because he was speaking that in his own capacity. Lets condemn him as an individual! I’m Bemba and really suddened by his remarks!

  86. GBM is a very shallow man. No one chooses what tribe or race to be born in. A tribe is not a qualification to be proud of as if you attained it by your efforts. GBM’s thinking only exposes his low self esteem. This is man is no better than the racists of yester years who ruled South Africa. Race or tribe means nothing… intelligence is what matters. The election of Obama shames characters like GBM. I wonder what Obama will say of such a scum of a man as GBM. I am not Bemba, but let us not think all Bembas think like this f.o.o.l.!!!!!! By the way will he be addressing the Parliament in Bemba if elected??? Fat Albert, Get a life!!

  87. Now you understand why we, barotselanders, have always wanted to secede. It’s Kafupi who rentreoduced traibalism to Zambia. That horrible shortling should never be allowed to even speak.

  88. The big question everybody should be asking is what is the position of the POST NEWSPAPER on this? The Silence is really loud. Not even Ka letter to the editor. These views were said on Radio Mano which they have widely quoted in their editorial. How can they miss such retrogressive statement?

It is unfortunate that such a great paper that helped usher in multi-patyism is now blinded by money they lost in Zambia Airways and failure to put their preferred candidate in State House. SO blinded by the hate for RB such that the whole paper, editorial, letter to the editor, main story is all against RB

How the might have fallen. Gutter journalism, oh damn Good Quacks

  89. Bwezani started it all in the last presidential elections and Chief Mpezeni endorsed his tribal statement. So GBM is also rite to say wat he said.If you never asked Bwezani to retract his statement why shud u ask GBM? Go…….GO……………Go GBM and claim yo land

  90. GBM’s tribal campaigns will destroy Zambia he is not fit to be a leader, the Bembas from Northern Province are not tribal, he should come up with issue based campaigns. PF made a very big mistake in nominating him. We all know Northern province is for bembas because they dominate others tribes in numbers, we have alot of small tribes in that land. Muyombe is part of the Mwine Lubemba empire hence a person who hails from there qualifies to contest in Kasama not only that even who comes from Shangombo I qualify am Zambian I cant stand anywhere I want in my country. Whatever happened to ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.

  91. Whatever happened to ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.

  92. Who cares what GBM says??? Let him speak his shit out, he needs that breath. Don’t suffocate him!!! We need crazy minds like GBM in our midst once in while in order to constantly remind us of not taking life for granted. I’m Lozi myself, but hey guys I don’t care where you come from —just do the damn right thing. I think as Zambians we are far beyond this. But it is good to talk about it and debate it. I love you all. Who needs a Zambia of one tribe…that’d be boring. My Bemba wife laughed when I shared the GBM story with her a few days ago when it just came out. Focus on important things in life. Being proud of your tribe and origin is great, but don’t be a terrorist just because of your tribe. Before you know it you will be dead and then it won’t matter what your tribe is…

  93. GBM is fat fool. This the same chap who clobbered his sister in-law accusing his nephew of being after his wife!!! Though extremely wealthy, the chap is a kaponya inside out. I wonder why our gay friend, King Fred and his paper are so quiet? Had this been the MMD candidate uttering such trash, we would have never heard the end of it.

  94. MMD BOOTLICKER THE POST IS SILENT BECAUSE IT IS NOT NEWS! RB SAID THE SAME THING AND SO DID SONDASHI AND MANY OTHER POLITICIANS, GO GBM GO!

  95. GBM belongs to MMD and I wonder why PF got him for Kasama. I am PF but such rubbish should be told to shut up. I cannot give him my vote. I rather stay home.

  96. Let’s not forget that alot of our towns and cities are actually quite culturally diverse. Inter tribal marriage is common and alot of people from different tribes have settled all across Zambia. Mugala himself is a long time resident of Kasama so why should he not contest an election to serve his community. What has that fat (plump) goon done for his so called bemba brothers and sisters all along? PF characters really scare me…Sata, Nsanda, GBM, all kaponya’s with no sense of self respect.

  97. didnt the UPND-PF pact have a better candidate for this seat? If the man is encouraging tribalism why the hell did he stand in Kabwata, thats not Bemba land. Its time we moved from tribalism as a nation. This is whats bringing the country down because people are put in important positions due to their origin, and not on merit. I have been a supporter of the PF-UPND pact but if this is what they are entertaining, then i have to think twice about this pact. The brains in the pact might be good, but once you start mixing with fools like GBM the whole pact will be sour. You can have a whole basket of good groundnuts but once you chew one bad one, all them they taste like $hit!

  98. By the way, I meant to say I am Bemba and PF but this guy stinks and belongs to MMD. How on earth can he separate Isoka from Kasama? Mugala can contest Kasama like anybody else. If anything, what has GBM done for Kasama? He knows nothing about the place and all he needs is money? Shame on GBM, Shame on Sata, Shame on PF for adopting this junk

  99. If GBM wants to discriminate on tribal lines, perhaps we should also discriminate against him on the basis of his obesity!!! If that fat pork chop can fail to look after his own well being (he’s morbidly obese by the way; there’s a chunk of blubber that can be seen between his belt and his groin!!!) how can we expect him to perform his duties well? I know a niece of his who claims this man openly insults his wife in front of their kids, imagine?! PF-UPND chaps, get your act together or else we’ll write you off completely…

  100. It is shocking that some blogger endorse this DIVISIVE politician. Why is it that when they are elections some Zambians want to exclude one another. Chiluba did it in 96 and there are many other instances. After elections you want to work with the same people. How stu pid. This country will never move forward if this behavior is condoned. As long as people feel excluded from national activities they can never contribute fully or view the current system as their own. I have noticed that a lot of big cats are quiet about this issue. Are they playing politics of preservation?

  101. Zambia is finished. You need strong medicine to “runyokolola” Tongas from tribalism or Kalumba’s strong “sangoma” powers to make Bemba bigots like GBM to puke tribalism. Just watch this tribalism Kanitundila engineered engulf and destroy him and the country. 45 years of an inconvenient marriage is enough, people can no go back to Mbeya, others to Katanga and Kanitundila to Blantyre where they came from. Zambia is finished, its about time anyway because all some people like GBM and FTJ have been doing is stealing and nailing this country to the ground.

  102. If Zambia was a serious country- this “candidate” would not even be allowed a platform to voice out this nonsense. We are not a serious country to have such a low-calibre person be in our parliament.

  103. It would be a good idea as some blogger have suggested for people to stand in places where they do not come from. It would kill two birds with one stone. Apart from uniting the country it will weed out pretenders like GBM. Only strong candidates with credentials will be able to undertake such a venture. The current system has clearly failed us and needs a jump start.

  104. Those supporting tribalism are just exhibiting ignorance of the extreme sort. If you scale up your arguments to the presidential level, who is going to rule?

Leadership should be by ability and not tribe. One day a monkey is going to rule you just because it is from your province.

    Shame on you primitive blacks…

  105. education!!!!!! this guy has money o.k but he is a dull man….very dull!!is he the kind of leaders we want to represent you?he’s egotistical he thinks the sun shines out of his A-S-S!!!!!!!fat fat slob….just enjoy your money coz RBB won’t tolerate that kind of S-H-I-T Mr mwamba,we will not allow your ignorance bring down our country……..how are you going to articulate the complicated language in Parliament?do you even understand the process of preparing a bill?even a by-law?i don’t think so…………..

  106. BA GBM KWENA. GBM was helped in business by the late robbie sinyangwe, today he says namwanga’s are foreigners in kasama. before a man is destroyed the gods make him crazy. GBM has gone totally mad and the ECZ or some legal body must step in and stop this madman. Burton Mugala lives in Kasama and his whole business is in kasama. so PF is saying that namwanga’s, mambwe’s and lungun’s are not from northern province. what a shame that even bloggers here support such a statement. I beg you people lets not bring war to our nation. we have had peace for so long why should one ***** make us so hateful?

  107. If people just for once became real, and faced up to facts obtaining on the ground regarding MPs, they would all realise that actually most if not all current MPs represent constituencies where they originate from, their home areas, kumushi kumwabo.

Most MPs left Lusaka and other big towns to go and stand for election in their areas and villages. So, where is the fuss with what GBM is honestly stating?? It is a fact.

  108. #68 Be real and face the facts. Lozis are many in southern province not only in livingstone but in every town. They are many in L/stone because its the most developed town closer to them and knowing Baloziland being the poorest in Zambia. Lozis cannot settle in our Bembaland because they hate any challenge from Bembas. Who does not know that Tokaleyas are not Tongas when they learn Tonga in Southern province from Kafue to Kazungula a town after livingstone. You Lozis have a tendency where whoever gets some education leaves Baloziland forever. Thats why chief Mukuni of the Tokaleya changed that Balotse park you named to Mukuni park. You are building slums in Livingstone destroying the beauty of the town just because you do not like your place. We Bembas do go back to our land unlike u

  109. You Lozi people are the most backward people who only appreciates where other people have worked on. You can speak and promote your language elsewhere and not in your land. Even if you where to be given Lusaka or the Copperbelt today after two years it would be reduced to Chibolya township. Even your own Litunga cannot appreciate his own zambia, he is the only chief who cannot make and wear fabric from his own land like other chiefs only a British disposabla police uniform. Shame on you Lozis. You cannot rule Zed because all people your people would go abroad forever and forget about zambia and the whole country would come to ZERo in two years. Weldone GBM go back to your own land not like lozis who fear witches in Loziland. Saki cannot stand in loziland because he fears witches.

  110. Sorry guys I meant Tokaleyas are Tongas. Lozis like claiming what does not belong to them. Come on Lozis the quicker you accept that Western province is yours the faster it would take to develop it. You cannot even build a Timber factory dispite all the timber in your province. Two years ago because of your tribalism, you chased a Bemba Father and Director of Radio LISERI from Mongu because he use to play Bemba and Nyanja music. You claim to be from South Africa you better go back there if you will fit. You wanted the Barotse land agreement so that you could take most of our Copperbelt area to which we refused, I wonder to what level of dilapidation it would be by now under you.

  111. Lozis should be the last people to talk about GBM’s tribal remarks. If take a closer look at the Zambian situation, all those towns whose people are not triblists are developed such as the copperbelt for Lambas, Lusaka for Solis and Lenjes, Mazabuka for Tongas and Livingstone for Tongas and Tokaleyas. In Livingstone all tribes are represented because Tongas and Tokaleyas are not tribalists like you Lozis who feel big on just a small achievement. I wonder if the town was your it would be a no go area for others. Lozis should really appreciate the Tonga speaking people because as far as am concerned they are the most accommodative people. Do not bit a finger that feeds you guys(Lozis). Sorry #68 I just had to tell you the truth.

  112. Us Bembas are from all over Bembaland and based on the Copperbelt but we do not claim to say it is Bembaland, we just say we are brought up on the copperbelt. I am from Luapula but brought up in Kitwe(CB) and I can still stand for elections in Kitwe and Luapula but I cannot claim copperbelt to be for Bembas alone.

  113. #130 Kwathukummawa, i agree with you, i have people like nalumngo, munaile, dr chisya, the late ben, bonshe, peter daka, shikapwasha george the liar kunda, mabenga, the list is long and you will notice that all of these people went to their villages to stand as MP’s and i dare any one from MMD to dispute it especially sinner citizen

  114. So politics in Zambia must be linked to tribe? Those people that are supporting that sl ob must be careful about the implications of this. Sometime we Zambians fail to think ONE STEP ahead. Let us say we buy into this nonsense about tribe. Tomorrow you will want to work with your fellow Zambians of a different tribe! In fact that sl ob must be disqualified for attempting to discriminate against a fellow Zambian. Where is ECZ? Parliament is not ‘House of Chiefs’ . It is supposed to be a meeting of great minds that are committed to leading the country forward TOGETHER. I will be ashamed if I see this story in the international media. How can one be proud of a country that promotes tribalism? We are in the 21st century where even political boundaries mean nothing. I feel ashed to be Bemba.

  115. HEY, GUYS READING YOUR COMMENTS, SO YOU GUYS VE BRAINS.WISH PARLIAMENT WAS MADE UP OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU KEEP IT UP BLOGGERS.I HAVE DIARRHEO LET ME DASH TO THE TOILET PWETETETETE

  116. The fact that most MPs are currently elected in their home areas does not justify the statement from Mwamba. What we should be seeking to have is a country where a Lozi can be elected in Luwingu or a Luchazi in Nyimba etc. That is called moving forward and will be of benefit to all of us as Zambians. We should not be retrogressive like this guy is trying to be by creating a form of apartheid. Some of you supporting this guy seem not to have an incling of the tenets of ‘Pan-Africanism’ whatsoever which in my opinion is the only way the whole African continent will move forward.

  117. For those minions that are supporting this DIVISIVE character, how would you react if you were denied an opportunity for a job on the basis of your tribe, race, gender etc. The only job in Zambia that one can not compete for is being a chief. Sorry even that one can be contested as there is an area in Mansa I know where they have been fighting for the position for years. This gbm (small letters) does not belong in parliament. He will tell the other members to listen to him because he is a Bemba! Honestly I do not see how parliament can be productive with such sc um as members.

  118. Its quite true and acceptable that ONLY a Bemba must stand in Kasama. Do you see a bemba standing in either Livingstone or Mongu central elections ? Face it or not thats the way things are gonna be run here ! Charles Shawa had to be ‘airlifted’ from Northern because he was not from the area and as such could not fit in. Its not tribalism but NATURE !

  119. bottom line kasamais Bembaland sowe need a bemba MP imwe bambi bafi******kumwenu muvotelabanani, just because its a bemba who has said this it becomes an issue, 4get its simple i know of some mambwes who said a lot of trible sentiments during our past 2 elections simbao, namungala, sichilima, you meet at Eureka, you think we dont know the motive, they want to revenge history.( ati panka bakateke umubemba) Mubepelefye

  120. Mwamona nomba ukotwafika. Mulongoti of all people is not the right man to speak out about tribalism. Mulongoti was a nobody, I used to meet him at UNZA in worn down shoes. Mulongoti, Shakafuswa, Shikapwasha and many others we all know came into the limelight because of the unprecedented levels of tribalism that Levy practiced. MHSRIP. When The Post was critical about Levy’s management style they talked about the FAMILY TREE and nobody wanted to listen. When Malupenga, who is a relation to Maureen joined The Post, they stopped being critical of Levy.

  121. I see we Zambians can not free ourselves from this riddle called TRIBE. Superken tried to show us the way out but we are happily falling back in the same trap. Bad politicians like gbm and colonialists have exploited this attribute we have as Africans to believe that one is INTRINSICALLY better than the other because of tribe. To say the least, this is an irrational and evil mindset that this country can do without. This country has been moving backwards in terms of development for the last 20 years or so and the endorsement of such ideas proves that socially we are moving into the dark ages as well. It is interesting to note that the so called leaders are silent about this matter. Does that mean approval or they are scared to provide leadership.

  122. GBM just ignore him, campaign tactics, if Mugala has lived in Kasama and is worth the salt GBM wants to play the usual Zambian fool who thinks because he is known to be a businessman( and usually are exploiters in Zambia because the government cares less what you steal) His days are numbered. What tribe, I grew up on the Copperbelt, I have no tribe, I belong to Zambia.

  123. Senior and prominent citizens should strongly condem this ugly animal called TRIBALISM . Many will recall how UPND was reduced to a regional grouping. Big names of the likes of Bob, Saki, Patrick etc could not be accommodated.

  124. What a shame that this guy could say such tribal remarks.if any thing most of us were shaky when GBM was chosen as the candudate.we are now thinking hard bout this guy.from the begining, people have never wanted him to win in politics all because of such.not only that but he is a bully!!!! and an abuser to his workers.i wonder what he can do if he was appointed min of labour.
