UPND ‘sold’ to PF – Kunda

Share

VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has accused United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema of auctioning his party to the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Kunda said Mr Hichilema has made a political mistake to join forces with PF president Michael Sata, whom he described as unpredictable and untrustworthy.

He said soon after arriving in Monze yesterday that Mr Hichilema has managed to divide the UPND because his ambitions of becoming the country’s President have melted into the pact with the PF.

“The UPND has cracked in Southern Province with Mr Hichilema’s desire to offload his party to the Patriotic Front. My brother Mr Hichilema has made a political fatal mistake for auctioning his party to the PF. Mr Sata will dump Mr Hichilema as soon as he achieves his ambitions,” Mr Kunda said.

He said some UPND members of Parliament have been conferring with the MMD on the future of their party and urged them to join the ruling party.

Mr Kunda said it is shameful for Mr Hichilema to enter into a pact with Mr Sata without the blessings of the majority of his party members.

He said Government is currently implementing a lot of development programmes in Southern Province and that those MPs who are genuine in the province have been commending Government.

Mr Kunda said while the UPND MPs are looking for development in the province, Mr Hichilema has been busy campaigning for Mr Sata in North-Western Province.

He said it is sad that Mr Hichilema, who is an economist, failed to read the motive of Mr Sata’s manoeuvres to use him for his political mileage.

Mr Kunda said he is in Southern Province to physically interact with the grassroots because that is where the voters are.

He said he would ensure that the people of Southern Province are sensitised about the evils of the pact between Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema.

He said most of the people who formed the UPND were from the MMD and it is only proper that they return to the ruling party.

Meanwhile, Mr Kunda has also cautioned the people in flood prone areas in Southern Province to be ready to move as the rainy season has started.

He said Government has distributed the farming inputs for the 2009/2010 farming season in good time.

And Mr Kunda has castigated some media houses for allegedly promoting anarchy by their failure to observe professional ethics.

He said while Government is pleading with the media to come up with a private members bill in Parliament for self regulation, it is important that media houses and professionals know that Government will table its own bill if they failed to do so.

And Mr Kunda said Government is not eager to regulate the media but that some named media houses have been propagating insults and anarchy in the country.

“Government is promoting community radio stations because they are supposed to propagate development in communities in which they operate. Some private newspapers that have been promoting anarchy are insulting Government and President Banda all the time.

This we believe is being unprofessional and Government would want to regulate things like training and the observance of ethics,” Mr Kunda said.
He said during a live programme on Sky FM Radio in Monze.

He said Government has a lot of statutory instruments which it can use to impose sanctions on media houses that are allegedly promoting anarchy.

  1. Kunda is a damn scared fly. He knows that his days are numbered because come 2011 the pact will rule. Why talk about someone’s house. If you know that the pact is nothing it should not worry you bwana Kunda.

  2. HH should take hid of Kunda’s advise!! There is wisdom in it! Indeed if Sata is president, he needs to be assured that he will be made vice president, as the constitution stands, HH’s appointment is at the mercy of Sata. There is a great possibility that Sata could throw him out once his goal has been attained. My advice to my UPND members is do not quickly jump ship, wait for the ship to completely sink then you can jump. Because if you jump now, and the ship stays afloat, you will drown. Give it more time to sink.

  3. The last kicks of a dying horse, the man can nt stand pressure frm the PF/UPND PACT..where ever these 2 clowns go,they hav no agenda for the suffering masses, all they do is talk abt PF/UPND PACT,Sata this and hakainde that..they cant talk abt development because they hav nothing to show.they hav no programme for the zambians..they are feeling the heat frm the PACT,i would suggest that while they move around in the challenger jet and the other 1 also in the ZAF planes, they should buy large suite cases so that the start packing in advance, come 2011 MAKE MONEY AND DISSAPEAR,NI ZWAAAAAAA!VIVA PF/UPND PACT!

  4. Divide and Rule is an old tried trick and the MMD is frantically trying to use it to make sure the opposition do not form a formidable front to oust them once and for all in 2011. Soldier on guys in the opposition. We need more to join the pact and ensure the MMD regime is wiped out in 2011.

  5. Knowing Sata,Kunda here has a point.HH will be the one crying foul big time when, infact if Sata assumes the presidency.

  6. Where did you see your enemy symphasizing with you! Kunda can take those campaigns to Serenje. It is North-South- West Axis spinning for change. If HH has sold UPND why is Kunda worried! Is it his party, just campaign for MMD Mr. Vice president before Saki takes your place. The president has been highly mislead by Kunda thus a Cabinet shake up is necessary.

  7. The Solwezi votes will give an indicator for 2011. When MMD loses in 2011, chief justice will be fired, Dora, Chiluba will return to court, Siulapwa, sakala, george will flee the country

  8. Kunda surprises me. During the Oct 08 Presidencial by elections, all sorts of parties such as FDD, ULP etc ganged up with MMD. I did not hear any complaints from this lost lawyer. Is it his business what other parties do? These parties can even dissolve themselves and this will not be MMD’s business. Me thinks Kunda wants a fragmented opposition in order for him to continue at GRZ house. By the does he know that RB will replace himwith Sakwiba if RB sees that Kwahayi becomes tricky towards election time?

  9. This is maraiage made in hell. This calculator boy will be wailing loud enough for MMD to hear in 2011 when Satan s*c*r*e*w*s him up. hahaha.

  10. We know for sure that MMD are damn scared of the pact. Fact! PF alone can not dislodge this tandem of thieves neither can UPND alone. Viva Pact let us chase this animal called MMD. No wonder they have developed polomia because the know that the success of the pact is the down fall of MMD. Mwapya ba N. kusa.

  11. Kunda can take his tricky to Serenge not Southern Province no amount of trick can change the people of southern province politically if they say yes it is yes they move as one iam sure they were just laughing at him. MMD they are not sleeping shame on them.

  12. Do our two top leaders have time to run the affairs of this country. They are always running up and down. Or should I say now they are feeling the heat from the Pact. At the time they are supposed to be coordinating developmental issues they are doing the opposite.

  13. So what? Is it any of your business Mr. Vice President? I can see this man has chewed enough of vinkubala and he is now behaving like one.

  14. #8 You are very right, I agree with those who say my home town was not a test for the pact, Solwezi is the test. This will determine the strength of the PACT, in that unlike in Kasama, both PACT presidents have campaigned. So the voters have seen the faces of the PACT, and have also seen the face of MMD. It will be an accurate depiction of what is yet to come! Hope no rigging report will arise, and we will be able to accept the results as we did in Kasama.

  15. It is very interesting to note that when other parties unite for a cause, then it is an auction, but when mmd was being supported by other parties, they were joining a noble cause? I feel that the veep is scared of this pact. They can still go ahead and call the other opposition parties to join them so they can be even stronger if they are strong enough.

  16. Kunda is fresh from North-Western province and I am so happy he has clearly seen the writing on the wall, kuya bebele! True, his utterances amount to nothing but the lask kicks of a dying horse, he is history and Banda will sooner than later dump him for someone with a heavy constituency. This will give him the record of having been the shortest serving VP ever in Zambia and deservadly so! For a lawyer, this chaps understanding of honourable politics is very cavalier, he is a lying and shameless quack lawyer.

  17. Mr Kunda what type of Law did you study at UNZA? How do you council you opposition. Talk about good development please, you are in govt dont waist your time politicking twapapta time to campaign will come

  18. haaha…heeheh…now balwala shiki polomya ba mambala? In the world of politics only a d.ull person can continue waisting maney each election year. Do you know the money which Sata and HH have waisted for the past three elections? the fact is that it is difficulty for both of them to win if they cant come together. This fact they have realised and its good that now they are working together as this is what Zambians wanted. Sata has been wining but always MMD riggs but now it will be so difficulty for MMD to rig. HEEE …WAPYA MUZI…. MMD please start running the PACT here it comes. Zambians are all laughig at you crying like babes….Kunda ala unli mwaume konsa fye.

  19. The issue is not pact,,,who is going to be the president of the pact….this issue should be looked at very careful otherwise,,,,this pact can not go anywhere!!!! sata should be vice president of the pact…..we do not trust this man…HH president…..if that fails,,,,,I still believe Banda is better than sata….MMD should continue ruling….we made similar mistake with chiuba because people wanted change…..what did we so or what have you seen after the election. we saw alot of unexplained deaths,,within MMD racks. this can happen just sata to go for the third term…do not allow this thing to happen.!!!!!

  20. In 2011and once the polls are over, a new TaskForce should be formed to investigate Kunda. You know, he once said that he was making well over US$100 million per year from his “kantemba” lawfirm but when I visited ZRA, it showed that for the three years prior to him joining politics, he paid tax based on an annual average of US$25,000 dollars. The government must pursue him on the undeclared taxable revenue of US$75,000 x 3, plus compound interest and penalty.

  21. MMD has an enduring and growing alliance with Zambians while the fragile alliance of UPND-PF is an alliance of two disconnected power hungry infidels outdoing each other and yet to burn each other’s feet before taking a 4th defeat.

  22. # 22 Kizito,

I agree, Sata is a loose canon and if the pact selects him, they are doomed once again. However, HH is worse, his ascendence to the UPND appex was wrought with stinking tribalism and to select such an unrepetent tribal bigot as a pact candidate would be political suicide or the stinkiest odour order. What we need is an experienced compromise candidate. Otherwise Kansundila will prevail thus dooming Zambia.

  23. In the same vein, it democratic for the blog threads to record all kind of hallucinations as individual rights of merely releasing their failed or otherwise emotion.Real power dynamics are on the ground by voters. There is no Zambia ballot vote that come from the insulting and self fantasizing Chinese, Australian, Denmark,UK or USA trolling troll. Its registered voters’ ballots that enter the booth and ECZ certify as either valid or spoiled vote.

  24. #24 Senior Citizen Veteran……which Zambian people are you talking about? Have you been to rural areas? If the people in the rural areas are all against this d.uul MMD , then which people are you talking about? Zambians are suffering well you Senior citizen are enjoying their tax they pay through VAT. Do you think Zamians are that d.ull as to continue with MMD whom even our small children at home despise.?

  25. It is democratic for the blog threads to record all kinds of hallucinations as individuals exercise their rights of merely releasing own failed emotions. In short, its garbage in garbage out. Mature power actors can just laugh and sympathize with the poor soul burning in vanity.

  26. 28 Face the fact No opposition party can dislodge these tandem of thieves alone. The pact realized that and hence the coming together not for prestige but the common cause. No one is being used in any case. We wanted this as supporters of the pact. Statistics are there to show. FP+ UPND in all the previous election is = less MMD that is the equation this guys want to solve and the writings is on the wall no other alternative bus! Kwamana Chapwa Kufelile.

  27. At a Chibuku tarven in Monze, George Kunda jumped on the counter and loudly claimed “United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has auctioned his party to Sata’s Patriotic Front. One reveler, Mainza Hamulume retorted: “All lawyers are assholes, inluding you Kunda!” he declared. “I resent that!” Kaminamisa immediately replied replied. “Why, are you a lawyer?” “No, I’m an asshole!”

  28. By the way, who is the head of the pact? (if wrongly spelled, could read as “the past”?) We are all aware hat there is a pact, but we are not, or I am not aware of who is the head. It would do all the zedians well if they knew who was actually heading the pact. By merely being there to dislodge the MMD is not good enough, but being their to offer an alternative govt with a good leader of people’s choice is the best. I am imploring the pact to clearly define who the leader is and tell the nation without delay. We wanna know who we are gonna put in office in 2011. Short of that, we shall have no option, but continue licking our wounds with the devil we know.

  29. #22 and 25 are very right. Change is needed but at what cost? Sata. Nope! RB is better alternative. Be careful with this wind of change. In many countries suffering now, those dictators have been electd by landslide victories. Tomorrow it will be you Zambians on this blog calling for international intervention, because of continued strife and wamuyaya rule.
HH and Sata should just agree to allow a nuetral candidate to take leadership if they are genuinely doing this pact for the people of Zambia, and not for personal interests…show the Zambian people that state house is not your ultimate goal.

  30. VETERAN and NATIONALIT which ever country. What would you say if HH contest on the Pact and not sata? I feel most of you in the MMD are afraid of the pact. Just work hard and show the Zambian pipo economic development and not political devevopment. In Solwezi MMD only talking about the Pact. In Monze we hear its the pact. When are you going to talk about maintaining Chipata- Lundazi road?

  31. #29 Veteran, I detest your pathetic intellectual posturing and this stinking and perpetual pretence of yours that only you can digested the basic facts of the solutions to the economic and political woes that bedevil Zambia today. You know, conversation on this blog will never flow on your illusionary exceptions, parroted political refinements or clearly vile and patronizing niceties of a dry scholarly verbature. to me and most other people here, you are nothing but an “effete intellectual snob”. Any intellectual can clearly see you’re parroting your master’s song, you have no intellectual standing, chisilu iwe!

  32. I personally think between the two there is no leader of the pact there both leaders with equal power. Even After 2011. Or say when they choose one who will stand, it might not be even the teo but like likely one of the teo will be the leader of the pact at that time and the other will stand for the republican president. So in short one will be president of the Pact while the other president of the nation. And one thing for sure non of them are f.o.o.l.s the thing is they signed a memoradum of understanding if i remember well. HH must have read all in there and was a contributor to it he wouldnt put anything to disafvantage him. They put something that will be fair to both for before and afetr elections.

  33. The issue of the leader in the PACT is a thorny one. Both Sata nad HH are spending sleepless nights devising a way of getting out of it without wrecking havoc. They both deliberately choose not to talk about it cause it may signal the crumble of the PACT at an early stage. But one thing for sure is,its inevitable that the PACT has to choose a leader at the end of the day and the earlier the better cos it will reveal the true pictureof the PACTunlike the virtual one we have.It is a fact that when Sata is chosen, there will be people leaving the PACT and vice versa.SATA and HH are in limbo.

  34. #37 Ba Trigo, you are right there is probably something on paper. It is also true there is a constitution in PF, but for ten years there has been no convention eh, and those who call for it are kicked out. If you remember third term we had a constitution on paper saying only two terms, Sata was in the fore front of pushing for a third. So our advise to our HH is to be very alert, Kunda may have some insight on what could happen, he could very well be left outside in the cold once the old man is in the seat. The situation is a very volatile one.

  35. No 40 i like your views Sata is using HH to campaign for him. This is a strategy which Dr Chileshe advisor to mr Sata has come about.Sata hopes to capture Southern, Western and Northwestern province by using UPND structures which is true.Come 2011 it will be too late for HH to campaign for himself when mr Sata assumes PF/UPND pact presidency. It will be very difficult to go back and tell the pipo that there is no pact.HH is completely dumed.Sata is acheiving his objective by using him. There is no way Sata can relinguish becoming republican president to HH after he spent all of these campaining to becaome one.HH wake up.Any way you will never become Vice president to Mr sata..By the way there will no new constitution in 2011 because you need a referundum to change the bill of rights.

  36. Kunda has a point here and it is a timely warning for one naive HH. Sata is not a trustworthy man and I wonder why educated bloggers can even support such a turn coat. Is it desparation? Ask Sakwiba about Sata he know s better after his pact with him failed after 2006 elections. Sata will stop at nothing to get to State House luckily for Zambia atleast for now things don’t look bright for him and I hope for mother Zambia’s sake things stay that way.

  37. People are feeling the Heat of the PACT. The Fact is that only and only one person can stand as president. It is either Sata or HH not both of them. Therefore it is pointless to assume that these guys dont kow that fact. Futher it means that the guys know that going it alone no one can win the ever rigged elections. Whats good, the two coming together , they win and start working together or they both continue campaining day in and day out wasting their money? Only a dull person can chose to continue wasting money on a thing he knows will not materialise. Sata and HH have come to their senses, and it is Zambians who called on them to work together. MMD must go as it has out- lived its life- 20 years for that matter. LET THEM (MMD) GO IN PEACE JUST AS UNIP WENT IN PEACE. No blood shed pleas

  38. Yapya bola! Kunda is damn scared of the PACT. MMD thrives on division in opposition, now the unity between UPND and PF is eating them. Causing them sleepless nite.
