UNIP Revival Forum endorses PF/UPND Pact

Share

UNIP Revival Forum leader General Malimba Masheke has urged Zambians to guard the UPND/PF Pact with a sense of jealousy.
General Malimba Masheke said this in Lusaka when he announced his decision to work with the Pact during a press briefing at the UPND secretariat.

He said the pact is the only solution to the difficulties and challenges the county is facing.

Gen Masheke said the MMD has lost direction and that it is up to the Zambian people to make the right choice and decision by supporting the Pact.

He states that the UNIP revival forum has not been fused into the UPND but has only decided to work with the Pact through the UPND.

General Masheke adds there is need to rebuild the country’s economic sector which says has been destroyed during the MMD government’s stay in power.
And in welcoming the UNIP faction’s support for the Pact UPND president Hakainde Hichilema said his party will always welcome support from political parties with grassroots support.

  1. Good to hear Masheke is alive. Hope Grey Zulu is too. Are these people a little too old to be active politically. They had their day and I think they faired well. Cant see any better political future for them now. KK had the most powerful presidency so far, and a cabinet that attracted respect and awe. You could not insult them. Politics in Zambia now is full of insults, I wonder if Masheke is prepared for that.

  2. I think Gen Masheke has done what is good for the nation supporting the PACT. We need more people with such a manner in this instance to do just this so that they destruct Chiluba’s political Gymnastics.

  3. Malimba Masheke inconsiquentially in his 4th defection. He keeps bundling and bundling himself everywhere in hope of a miracle. What a loser. UNIP Revival Forum where is its political constituency if not only on the lips of Masheke, Nyirenda and Henry Miyoba? Losers are vainly bundling up to nowhere.

  4. It only tells one thing: the wind ins blowing in the pact’s direction. Many more interests are yet to come out. MMD behold

  5. It has now become common for most people from outside to join the pact through UPND. I mean former Gender Minister Patricia Mulasikwanda, former Lusaka Mayor Patricia Nawa, Prof Clive Chirwa, and now UNIP Revival Forum have all joined the pact through UPND. Is there something about Sata which people hate or are afraid of, or is HH becoming more and more pupular by the day?

  6. UK-Zed Observer,

I have not seen anything here that says Masheke will be in cabinet, so where are you coming from when implying he will hold a cabinet position and be prepared for insults?

KKs Cabinets did not attract ‘respect’ as you have put it. It was the constitution that made it treasonable to critise. There was no free press, freadom of speach, freedom of associating etc. We were under a 27 year state of emergency. an effective secret service that ensured divergent views were treated as treason. You could be detained indefinately ‘under the presidents please’ for anything, all enshrined under the presidential powers act. It was not respect that kept us quite. It was the environment.

  7. Right of association and right of choice exercised. My question though is does this have any significant political effect. Well lets just wait and see

Good question. Similarly, seems HH welcomed them not as a PACT but as his party, UPND albeit mentioning the pact somewhere. There could be a fight for members between PF and UPND. Also could be difference in the calibre or quality of followers between the 2.

  9. Following “And in welcoming the UNIP faction’s support for the Pact UPND president Hakainde Hichilema said his party will always welcome support from political parties with grassroots support“, this is a gr8 move for the mighty UPND Team. I urge Mr PF MC Sata to tell the Nation the truth about his claims that he has a degree since he wont even be Vice President of Zambia under the possible Zambian President HH if UPND-PF PACT presidential-candidate-to-be HH assumes the presidency of our great coutry.

As of General Masheke and his UNIP faction members, it is real good that you chose to associate yourselves with a sensible party of the 21st Century.

    Have a blessed day all.

  10. 7. Life Maker & 10 UK-Zed Observer,

Nawa was expelled from PF, can can return, but through UPND
    Prof. has no following

    Look at this
    19/01/2010:
Former UNIP Kasenengwa MP, Timothy Nyirenda and several others has defected from UNIP to PF

    24/11/2009
Three former Members of Parliament (MPs) in Eastern province have officially resigned from the former ruling party UNIP to join the opposition Patriotic Front, according to Zanis.

The three are former Chipangali MP, Lucas Phiri, former Chama North MP, John Chibanga and former Malambo MP Imange Muzidya Phiri, who defected alongside former Chipata Mayor, Patrick Chirwa

    05/01/2010
About 519 members of the National Democratic Focus (NDF) party in Nchelenge district have defected to the Patriotic Front (PF).

    List is endless

  11. 12. you should be objctive in your talking. did you think eastern province can vote for sata in 2011 election. you just dreaming man. it like hearing 200 people in southern province have joined UPND. What we want to hear is resignations from areas that are not UPND/PF pact strong hold like western, North-western provinces. This is what caused sata problems because he can not get votes other than his strong hold. My analysis is get some one who can get those votes outside UPND/PF pact strong hold. Masheke is still respected in western province than sakwiba sikota. The issue now is to announce presidential candidate and see if they will still attract members from other areas. Since now we were told sata has a degree but they challenged him to produce it, he failed up to now.

  12. How do you put someone with a quetionable degree. what if he forged a degree as the signs are there for anyone to see. do you want the UPND/PF pact to be disqualified because of one man. They do not have that time. Mr. winter Kabimba told us that his president do have required qualification and people must come to PF secretariat to see them. Alot of people and journalist trouped to PF secretariat but could not see any of those qualifications for one to be president of zambia. All these who are joining pact through UPND are not stupid and do know sata has no qualifications from reputable university to be president. This is causing problems in PF camp. There is signs in PF that the party might die nature death if sata insist on as a president. Watch the space..!!!!!

  13. 6# Mwenda njangula, i like that name I heard it when I was at village in Mongu. You must come from same area where i come. Muyoyange shaa.

  14. #11 Maestro Hakucincha – Please stop this issue of fighting Sata. You are real Tonga. HH is trying to move from the tonga tribal tag. The issue at hand is not about the degree of Sata but the endorsement of General Masheke. You behaviour is irritaing other people. The degree matter is closed until required by ECZ. Leave HH and the pact to us. You are the people who are destroying UPND and the pact.

  15. Kizito,

My posting here was a direct answer to the postings I have quoted from the other 2 bloggers. Please read them 1st then you will understand where I am coming from. Otherwise reading in isloation as you seem to have done makes you look quite dull.

  16. Litunga, following your “#11 Maestro Hakucincha – Please stop this issue of fighting Sata“, can you please mind your own business as i have a right to write what I need to anytime and anywhere.

The fact that I am a real Tonga person should not hinder me to express my thoughts freely. If you have any sense of normalcy can you please look up the freedom of association and speech in the current Zambian Constitution.

Have a blessed day you all.
