Govt. challenges Sata to disclose his sickness

Share

PF leader Michael Sata

Government has challenged Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata to make public the results of medical tests he underwent on September 8, 2008 before he can continue to malign others.

But Mr Sata said the diseases which were detected after the tests had been treated and declared that he was ready to disclose the type of diseases in the presence of Mike Mulongoti.

Mr Mulongoti who is acting chief Government spokesperson said in Lusaka yesterday that he had been forced to challenge Mr Sata after observing careless talk on the health condition of Government leaders.

Mr Mulongoti said the Government was in possession of all medical records for Mr Sata mainly carried out at a medical centre in Lusaka.

He said after Vice-President George Kunda’s trip to South Africa for medical reviews, Mr Sata talked ill believing that the Government was merely threatening when it continuously said it had results of Mr Sata’s medical tests.

Mr Mulongoti challenged Mr Sata to deny that he conducted medical tests in September 2008 before he can start talking ill about other people’s health conditions.

“As Government we want to respect the rule that medical records are a private matter between the patient and the doctor and we want it to remain like that. I will not disclose anything further but let him continue, he will see what we will do,” Mr Mulongoti said.

He said details of medical tests should be disclosed to the public by Mr Sata to allow people make their own judgment on his fitness in comparison with the people he was maligning.

Mr Mulongoti, who is Minister of Works and Supply said the Government was ready to debate the matter until Mr Sata accepted that it should be rested and asked him to disclose the status of his health so that other leaders could do the same.

He said Mr Sata should be ashamed of himself for making phone calls to South Africa hoping that the vice president was dead.

He said the Government was ready to help Mr Sata by disclosing the results of his medical tests and allow the Zambian people make their own judgments.

Mr Mulongoti who is also MMD chairperson for elections said Mr Sata used other people’s illnesses to gain political mileage and warned that the Government would also use his illness to gain the similar measure of political gain.

But Mr Sata said the diseases the Government had listed were long treated and pledged to co-operate in conducting another set of similar tests to prove that he was cured.

Mr Sata claimed that the diseases he was found with were minor. He said the diseases were not strange to society and was ready to disclose to the public in the presence of Mr Mulongoti.

  1. You can knock off some letter from Satan but without success to disguise the real him. Satan is the same ungreateful Satan period. Sata’s sadistic mind has vividly manifested its satanic nature by heritage despite pulling off the “n” from the real self “Satan”. Who doesn’t know that Sata is a moving coffin saved by the MMD administration and today surviving on a Pace metal inserted in his heart chambers? Today he avoids anything magnetic material because magnetic fields would malfunction his heart? He would trip into an instant death. Isn’t it the MMD administration that footed his hundreds of thousands Cardiopulmonary resuscitation bill in SA?

  2. LT, please write your own stories. Stop cut and paste or just close this useless site like you wanted to on fools day. It serves no one except the editor senior citizen also known as veteran

  3. Records are at hand that Sata has been cage with his incognito visits to Lusaka’s medical centre special healthcare. GRZ stands ready to publish all Sata medical records. This is a myopic who is has the issue of some chronic diseases besides a fragile heart.

  4. Sata has a history of Herpes zoster (or simply zoster), commonly known as shingles and also known as zona, this is a viral disease characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters in a limited area in his case on his manhood. I challenge him to come clean on these records before Zambians. Why Sata is on Herpes zoster medication.

  5. I am tired of listening to these small children (Politicians) shouting at each other in the Children’s Play Park (Zambian politics)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Ba
    # 5, Veteran, Sata has told us about his HIV status in today’s POST.
So, let Ba Kunda and the rest tell us where they stand. Besides, even American Presidents go for tests, and results are known to the public.
Them guys are public people so the people of zambia we have the right to know. Maybe am wrong- can i be corrected please!

  7. This is foolish thinking by MMD chaps, George came back with red lips. I was at the airport I saw it myself. RB sent him away to be treated cause it was reminding him of the RED CARD Campaign wagged by Father Bwalya.
George is very sick. I expected him to come back quitely and resume normal activity and not to shout at everybody in oppostion. God has given him another chance of life and another chance to find out that he has annoyed and he is not in good standing with a lot of people. He needs to sorber up & make amends. But knowing George, he wont listen but continue to offend more people. what a Shame.

  8. Patient – Doctor Confindentiality. Mr SATA has every right not to tell us what his suffering from or what he suffered. All i know is the man is old and my advise would be why not stay on a farm and a have a peace of mind for the remaining period of your life. This also goes for KUNDA VP and RB

Mr VP is sick let him not talk about sadists . He know deep in his heart that time is slowly catching up with him ….i wonder when i see people holding on….how do u manage when u know very well u be going……we are all going but sometimes the health tells us and also age.

  9. Ba Veteran is a government lobbist. This Is Bullcrap. What if the man suffers from a viral disease? Does that disqualify his legitimacy to participate in politics? Please enough of the name calling and all this non sense. Veteran get a life, you shoo shoo shoo!

  10. Stop hiding in medical privacy rights of those who cannot be ethical & deserving protection. Since Sata’s preoccupation has been of personality whatever value it adds to national challenges, lay his life bare. Challenge Sata to immediately disclose why he is on life time oral EPIVIR-HBV 100 mg medication. He has been using a US based Zambian for his life time refills. Why is he on EPIVIR-HBV? Reviews and Laboratories done by professional MTs are at hand as Lusaka based Medical Center has been managing Sata on Hepatitis B an infectious illness caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV). This causes an inflammation called hepatitis. He has been in the habit of abusing Anderson Mazoka and Levy Mwanawasa into their Grave yards yet himself is a carrier of some deadly chronic diseases.

  11. Been to Chimwemwe,Riverside Kitwe?Chipata,Chawama,Kasama etc Roads are Uphalling?Lusaka has no Roads choked Cairo and Great East Road.We need a Road between Copperbelt to Chipata,Mongu etc without passing through Lusaka. We need to create Jobs so that our people can fend and the economy can grow.We need a new constitution not the current one that could cause civil strife.Improoved education and health sector.Above all we do not need Politics of VJ,Michael Sata,Munkombwe),William Banda,FTJ. Etc anymore nauseating and petty. Were are the Nick Cleggs,David Camerons,Sarah Perrins and Barrack Obamas of Zambia?fresh, young and sharp?tired of these demented petty squabblers.

  12. @The Post

Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata yesterday challenged Vice-President George Kunda to go with him for medical tests at an independent hospital or clinic and thereafter disclose their respective results or ailments to the public.

  13. #5 ba veteran you should really be ashamed of yourself…why would you always talk ill abt mr sata and hh…thats propaganda, you should be realistic and fair in your views.

  14. Awe sure the must be something which Sata has on RB’s These people are just way too scared of Sata:-w

  15. Could the Veteran/Senior Citizen/Patriot etc. comment on Sata’s challenge to Vice-President Kunda to both have an HIV Test and reveal results to the public.

  16. Whether you are Hiv negative or positive nor you suffer from any other chronic illness the truth is we are all going to die so stop this crap of humilating others. No one is perfect. :-w

  17. Pipo pipo oh please where have thrown our ethics ? Seems like all the country`s politicians are suffering from a bout of whims !:-?

  18. George Kunda is behaving like late Tentamashimba during the last days.
This is the proplem with chronic illnesses as they affect the brain cells, which clearly is a danger if the affected person is the Vice-President.

  19. Suffice to say Sata ihas lost it flat at local and international table of reasoning. His is pure drivel, immaturity, xenophobia, unethical mind, misjudgement and irrational rants. What then is the PF policy on HIV Aids, the people with it and institutional position on the international-UN convention on HIV aids? Should all HIV carriers in the country God forbid in the PF administration count themselves out of national opportunities, leadership and hope but are for relegation to mortuary? What is Sata telling those with HIV, the international community, anti aids institutions, activists and those working on the campaign vulnerable to contraction? This has proved beyond doubt that under Sata all patients on his decree would be exterminated and have no place in society. He is retarded period.

  20. Can anyone tell me they have never fallen ill in their life. In the next govt we want leaders who will discuss how they will improve health care rather than accelerate mortality rate. People are dying miserable deaths because the system has collapsed but there is the minister trying to prove something. Will Sata’s confirmed illness bring medical equipment to our hospitals so that they stop[ going to RSA? We want progressive ideas and not mud sligging in all directions. He must remember that we are all HIV positive until proved HIV negative.

  21. How does Sata sale this stigmatization, xenophobia and immaturity of his on the ground where many have lost their beloved ones, are ophans, widows, widowers and are carrriers breeding internally asking God for this mystery that has befallen them? How does Sata rally the support of these millions when instead of bringing them hope, he is delivering stigmatiztion, exclusion, hatred and character assassination? We are talking of millions of humanity to whom the world with care is vesting in billions of US Dollars.Sata is a retarded jerk without any moral platform.

  22. I think it’s wrong to attack one another in public over their medical conditions, but again, why is it that almost all our leaders are sick, like really sick? We spend so much of the tax payers money on fixing these people, more so,the time they are highly paid for to be in office is spend in hospitals….

Can’t we get healthy young people to be the captains of this ship?

  23. Suddenly Mulongoti is back and doing what he is best at. It will take another contempt of court citing to silence him. Yes our GRZ is truly petty and visionless.

  24. “Mr Mulongoti, who is Minister of Works and Supply”

Where are the JOBS in Zambia, iwe ka Mulongoti? How are you going to create Jobs. Leave Sata alone say something positive about Job creation. We are tired of cheap politics from old people like you lot… Your are completely distroying our country, hands down for that and thank you very much!!

  25. So Mr. Sata is sick? From which woman now? He has too many thats the problem…By the way by challenging GK about his suspected status is Mr. Sata saying once he becomes President he will discriminate against people with HIV-AIDS? I really cant seem to get the Logic of this whole circus.

  26. What’s the position of the PF on albinos, the Blind, and those who had polio and are now lame? Should we begin to shun them? This is very silly politics. Let’s assume GK has AIDS what does that change from the fact that he is still the able Vice President of Zambia? Doesn’t it only go to show how mature Rupiah Banda is by bringing us all together sick or supper humans like Mr. Sata? By the way has Mr. Sata not had close relatives who have died of AIDS? I am sure if it were Sata as President he would ensure all people with the illness are purged out of Government jobs and may be sent to some secluded areas like lepers. Sata must watch his prostate cancer, BP and Diabetes these are a recipe to sudden death. He should refrain from laughing at other people’s illness.

  27. “Mr Sata claimed that the diseases he was found with were minor. He said the diseases were NOT strange to society”

    TRUE!
In this day and age is there any disesase ‘strange to society?’

  28. Zambian politics are a vexation. Day in and day out, the opposition are not offering any solutions to Zambia, but trying to use every under handed way and punching below the belt just in order to malign those in government, bringing them into public opprobrium and reducing their estate in the eyes of the applauding crowds. This is like a comedian who makes jokes at the expense of another’s suffering and misfortune. Shameful.

  29. This culture of secrecy is what kills many africans. Mr GK, you might be going to SA when local ‘gurus’ like Sondashi and his fellow herbalists can help.

  30. This is the freedom of expression for you. Insults, evil wishes, no respect for one another. The west must be celebrating for bringing some of these things to our country. Evil thoughts breed evil acts. We have to be careful as Zambians or our country is going to be the devil’s play ground. Our structures of society are alright when there is love and respect for one another. By insulting one another and wishing each other evil we worship the devil even if we try to reject homo***ty. In all this confusion and showering of insults rejoice only the enemies of christ and those who feel Africans are not humans and therefore opposed to its development. Lets show restraint in our criticism or do so with a sense of developing each other.

  31. Now I’m convinced , and disappointed by my pressident M SATA if it is true he draged GK to tell the nation about his illiness, then god forgive us.There is truelly a devil playing arround in this country, the other month RB called people of Southern province to be dogs through HH

  32. In all this confusion and showering of insults rejoice only the enemies of christ and those who feel Africans are not humans and therefore opposed to the continent’s development. Lets show restraint in our criticism or atleast do so with a sense of developing each other

  33. I read and wonder what is wrong with our leaders and if this is really the best in them.Am not a politician nor am i looking forward to be one.illnesess are not things to laugh at,i just wish there was a way of sitting down our leaders and talk to them advising them on how to conduct them selves.

  34. Medical tests are confidential to the patient. However, if people want to know, Pres Rupiah Banda has to take the first test to show the nation about his health like zuma did in south africa. For Kunda and Sata, they can disclose their results but who is it going to help after all most of the peoples in mdd are sick. As a requirement for any job a medical test has to be done. So which way are they going to go?

  35. Na ka Chanda Chimba III should disclose both his medical condition and marital status. Twalishiba kale.

  36. Ka Mulongoti and Ka Kunda are gabbing gits!!!! wasting time talking about who is suffering from what, please talk about how you intend to reduce costs of flyning officials, accomadating them in RSA hotels and those huge medical bills and how you intend to equip UTH with similar facilities as in RSA hospitals for the maximum benefit of all citizens. Should be ashmed of yourselves

  37. All of them should make their medical conditions public. The advantage of making it public is that if we know that they are HIV positive or have cancer at a later stage, we can decide whether to vote for them or prevent spending too much Tax payer’s money when they become very sick while in office.

  38. Mulongoti is equally SICK. I actually thought he will die earlier than Tetamashimba. Just watch this space, both Kunda and Mulongoti are going and very soon. The’re going the Tetamashimba way, ranting like DOG’s only to fall sick once, go into Comma and ZWAAA. The next time GK goes for his Medical review, he is coming back as Cargo. Let’s start campaining in his constituency. Would have started campaigning in Mulungoti’s contituency as well but REALISED HE DOESN’T have one.

  39. **==~:>[-x we know that half of cabinet ministers and top civil servants are on ARVs. The side effect with being on ARVs is that one is never the same as he/she was before, there is a lapse in the brian power close to abnormality=thats why there are these insults and calling of names among the politicians as if they are not elderly. Hope for a cure for HIV/AIDs soonest. >-)>:/:-&

  40. Jacob Zuma publicly underwent testing and annouced his HIV status to the Public. Can this diahorrea mouthed ***** Mulongoti and George Kunda do the same. He talked alot of Bullshit

  41. check the new post newspaper at postzambia1.com this is confusing now! check the true story there

  42. The only politicians who are not full of drivel are General Miyanda, Sakwiba Sikota, Chifumu Banda and Elias Chipimo. The rest are wasting our time sqaubling like little kids. Our next President should be from one of the four.

  43. Zambia is at its lowest now you can not be talking about people’s medical records discuss issues affecting the poor man on the streets, what you are are talking about is between patient and Doctor only try to bring out in the press and you will be in court sooner than you expect. Please stop being childish you leaders back there in Zambia if you are sick the all lot we are not interested put food on the table and the people will be happy.

  44. Is the level of the Zambian dialogue? Reminds me of the Luba Lunda kingdom, and perhpas historina can tell us how the kingdom collapsed. My theory is that the Luba Lunda collapsed as a result of the fact that those more civilized decided to have no more part of the savage tribes. As a Zambian, I shal have no part of this level of national mediocrity.

  45. Mbolo #3 you are right. LT should employ their own reporters. Cut and paste is not only piracy or plagiarism it displays laziness or lack of effort at providing us with the genuine article. But moving away from that Why are Zambians interested in their politicians’ illnesses and intimate details? It can only be for gossip. Otherwise I dont give a damn whether the President has HIV, cancer or is impotent, as long as he can deliver.

  46. Issues!please, people are dying of disease, lack of ambulances, drugs, staff, impassable roads, hunger no food,no jobs.No proper social services.Corruption rampant. No proper constitution recipe for civil war, schools with delapidated infrastructure, under paid teachers, under funded Councils not delivering any services etc we cannot afford to be discussing who has got HIV or not.Does it any more matter, its a chronic illness which is rampant in Zambia due to bad leadership poverty.USA had a disabled President in Roosevelt for 2 terms did it matter?our thinking and our pettiness thus our on poison. We should be now engaging our leaders on issue based debates and not thie nonsense.Time we did away with the Munkobwes,VJs,RBs,FTJs,Mulongotis,Satas,William Bandas etc spent bunches heartless lot.

  47. politics in zed are not inspiring at all, verbal wars daily daily, childish behaviour ,these politician s ahould grow up, talk about and do something that’s real, no wonder sondashi is busy praying and fasting for a better leader for mother zambia

  48. # 25
Senior Citizen has a point in attacking those that want to bring us back to the levels of stigmatization seen in the 90s.
And for the Zambian people, please take heed, the world is losing the battle against HIV. It is true that there is more resistance to ARVs than before and that new infections are on the rise. Further, the money to fight HIV is drying up. From this perspective, I also condemn those who see HIV sufferers negatively(but surely not to call them retarded Jerks!) Ref: NYTimes.com: At Front Lines, AIDS War Is Falling Apart

  49. Thanks #12,14, 19, 23 etc. I cant believe that national and those that aspire to take over can reduce themselves to such levels. Can we trust Sata once he becomes head of state to take care of HIV positive people? This is the man i have heard so much as having been an action man at Ministry of Health. Shame!!! Even if George Kunda was to be HIV positive so what????????
How many Zambians are living positively and contributing to the well being of the nation? Shame to even those papers that call HH a juniour partner in the PACT in preference to the mature (-now IMMATURE)- SATA.

  50. I think the MMD should go, but I also think Sata is not the right man for the job. However, as Africans, we can’t feast over our brothers’ illnesses – whether we agree with them or not. But poor, VJ, I couldn’t recognize my cousin in that photo.

  51. The people who should suffer from herpes zoster are old people and babies who’s immune system is low. so its NOT a strange thing for sata have that, medically speaking. But for VP we all KNEW that before he WENT to RSA. LOOKING AT VP IS SICK , JUST EAT NICE FOOD, REST, TAKE MEDINE CONSISTENTLY. whY zambians are annoyed he and his friends are stealing our money, frastrating the media, supporting the thievesn saying nosense. 2011 you ll be oOUT, dont be used. you ll die pofwe

  52. #s 49, I think you meant Sakwiba Sikota and Chifumu Banda. certainly not Miyanda or Chipimo – based on my personal knowledge of the four.

  53. Medical results are a private matter, I cannot understand why you are even discussing such issues. Sata you should sue the clinic which gave your results to the government.

  54. The reason why Chifumu and Sakwiba dont engage in such is because they are not desparate like those that have been on GRZ pay-roll half their lives. The two politicians are technocrats and i pray that they remain like that. Isnt Chifumu who ran away from the MMD convention when tbhey wanted him to legitimise the fraud of SATA and FTJ? He was the chairman of their electoral commission and when he discovered glaring irregularities and inbuilt rigging, he left with now Judge Charles Kajimanga. Robert Simeza took over what was to become a sham and we all know what happened to the 22 MPs. This spelt the birth of FDD and HP at the instigation of the greedy SATA who saw an opportunity after Generals Christon Tembo and Godfrey Miyanda, Nawakwi, Ernest Mwansa etc left.

  55. #63 Thanks for the clarification. I guess these are the small illnesses sata spoke about. What ever the case i dont subscribe to this thing of laughing at people with AIDS. We all love our relatives…sick or healthy. Lets discuss serious national issues like what Bishop Nwaka said in the Post today.

  56. If Sata does not have HIV, i think his potential to acquire is good judging from his dealings with the bishops sisters. He shouldnt laugh at George’s misfortune….

  57. Countrymen, we seem not to learn anything from history for if we did we could have realised that nobody will live forever so why are we wasting time on this issue. We are all moving coffins period!

  58. In addition to the requirement of a degree for all presidential candidates, HIV testing should also be mande mandatory for all presidential, vice presidential and cabinet ministers.

  59. Most of the Zambian politicians are Sick in the head because they cannot reason. Who ever discloses someone’s medical records/status without consent can be prosecuted under information governance laws. If this law does not exist in Zambia, one can be prosecuted for example in foreign courts of law where ‘no one is above the law’. Ka Mulongoti can easily be put on a plane and be prosecuted under the international law anywhere.

  60. i have noticed that Zambian politicians have lost derections. We dont want ill talk/debete discuss the future and present development ideas not evilish.

  61. If medica lrecords are private matter between doctor and patient, what are these doing in you hands iwe Mulongoti?? This is cheap-talk politics of the highest order! Naonuka fye ine mwe!! better to be eating imbalala naba neighbour in a foreign land than to listen to nutheads like Mike mulongoti and Crew!

  62. Suffice to say Sata has lost it flat at local and international level. His is pure drivel, immaturity, xenophobia, and unethical hyperboles. A million dollar question is what then is the PF policy on HIV Aids, the people with it and his institutional position on the international-UN convention on HIV aids fight? Should all HIV carriers in the country God forbid in the PF administration count themselves out of national opportunities, leadership and hope? He wants them al relegated to the mortuary?

What is Sata telling those with HIV, the international community, anti aids institutions, activists and those working on the campaign ever vulnerable to contraction? Sata’s pro-Queer society overdrive has proved beyond doubt that under his administration God forbid, all HIV patients would…

  63. If conscious Zambians were to commit treason by risking the country with a retarded Sata God forbid, all patients would be exterminated and claim no place in society. How does Sata sale this stigmatization, xenophobia and immaturity of his on the ground where many have lost their beloved ones, are orphans, widows, widowers and are carriers breeding internally ever asking God why this mystery that has befallen them? How does Sata rally the support of these millions when instead of giving them hope as a leader, he is callously delivering stigmatization, exclusion, hatred and character assassination? We are talking of millions of human beings to whom the world with care is vesting in billions of its US Dollars. Sorry I find Mr. Sata too retarded to be in Nkwazi office as Zambia’s CEO.

  64. As Sata is an aspiring presidential canadidate, i feel ashamed personally for him, trying to drag sick pipo thru the mud. we all know what his son died of, it nothing to be ashemed of in this day and age. The petty politics this dinasor practices makes you wonder what state of mind his supporters are in. it must be “do or die Zambia”

  65. When will we ever had sensible and progressive politics and not these foo.l.ishness and uncalled for kind of games, come speak some sense people, talk about something helpfull. If all of you teh politician declares their sickness our country will run banckrupcy cause we have to evcute them to RSA. Grow up!!!!

  66. If the “whole” “entire” govt can make such nonsensical challenges, then we are completely bankrupt as a nation.

  67. These guys are mad. I think they should concentrate on development than insulting each all the time.
