Don’t politicise apology, HH advised

Share

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema

Chief Mumena of the Kaonde people of Solwezi and United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Copperbelt Presbytery bishop Sydney Sichilima have advised United Party for National Development (UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema not to continue politicising President Rupiah Banda’s apology to him.

Chief Mumena said President Banda had shown statesmanship by publicly saying sorry and that Mr Hichilema should exhibit humility in the manner the republican president did.

He said it was unfortunate that the UPND leader had decided to give conditions to the apology and was attempting to gain political mileage out of it.

The traditional leader was reacting to Mr Hichilema who questioned the genuineness of Mr Banda’s apology over a statement he made referring to the opposition leader’s spouse.

Bishop Sichilima said a responsible and mature leader should accept an apology for the sake of reconciliation, unity, harmony and peace.

“I think it is not in order for a person to start giving conditions to a person who has said sorry,” he said.

Leaders in Development executive director Moses Kalonde also said in Kitwe yesterday that his organisation was disappointed in Mr Hichilema questioning the credibility of President Banda’s apology.

  1. This is the kind of personal nonsense that gets all the media attention instead of important national issues. Our politicians need to grow up and stop with the bickering.

  2. Ubwaiche Hilema. No wonder Sata find him too easy to manipulate and domineer costless as a calculator boy

  3. Mr Hichilema, if you are a gentleman, a political gentleman, you ought to know very well that even in politics, you do not hit a man when he is down and on his way out.

  4. These people shud just shut up…..everything is political, especially that apology which was made through a spokesperson

  5. Nonentities in the political arena. HH is a briliant young man who has taken advantage of the s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y of RB. RB thought he was smart after being cornered on the issue of mwenye. RB chipuba sana

  6. Somebody with sound reasoning should be able to read between the lines of RB is apology. If you remove your MMD-cadre inclination you are going to realize that indeed RB is apologizing to Indians but because he can not do that without faking an apology to HH, he has no choice but to pretend to be apologizing to HH. Indeed how many things has RB said about HH which merits him to say sorry? And more over remember that it is not your baby to ask Hakainde to forgive RB; You can only forgive someone who is genuinely asking for forgiveness.

  7. Everything iz politics now; apology, coach for the national team, mining licencez, voter registration, Draft constitution…?!

  8. Chief Mumena, Bishop Sichilima and Moses Kalonde there is no integrity and decency in the three of you. Why are you so quick to accuse HH of politicising when he is simply trying to protect his wife? Why didn’t you condemn your president for attacking and verbally abusing HH’s wife, you saw nothing wrong in it or you are simply loyal dogs? It is sad that this boot-licking in Zambia has now become a cancer. Leave HH and his family alone.

  9. Useless Chief,Useless Bishop, useless Kalonde. The Good lord will one day destroy you false prophets who hide in sheep’s skin but are nothing but bloody thirsty crimals. The fact is that RB didnt mean the apology.U will not force HH to stomach RB’s fake apology. We are not on his payroll like you criminals!

  10. Lt u need to publish HH’s statement and not Times of Zambia’s tit bits. All HH said was that he received no call, email or sms from the President apologising for dragging his wife into politics and all he’s heard is Dickson Jere’s press statement. In his view, RBs 3rd party delivered apology appeared more as an attempt at pacifying the unhappy Asian community and not directed at his wife. If one Gaffs, you call the person u offended and tender ur apology in person. Gordon Brown did that. Obama did that. Who does RB think he is?

  11. sPOT ON # 13 totally agree with you.A cosmetic apology to pacify the indians indeed, how many times has RB attacked HH without appologising. This old man (RB) needs to sit down and seriously reflect on his future and the future of the country he wont be president forever. When the pact wins next year things will be bad for him,(BP and Heart attacks like FTJ ka).

  12. On “Chief Mumena of the Kaonde people of Solwezi and United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Copperbelt Presbytery bishop Sydney Sichilima have advised United Party for National Development (UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema not to continue politicising President Rupiah Banda’s apology to him” this is useless when you look at what UPND 2011 presidential candidate HH released as expressed in summary by 13 Digga and in full by the POST Newspaper of yesterday.

Hence, I ask Mr President RB Banda to check his apologise and apologise to president HH is a more civilised and meaningful manner.

MMD and your sympathisers, please do what is right as opposed to the trend of embarrassing yourseleves that you are now doing.

    Be blessed all.

  13. BAILIFFS from the Sheriff’s office yesterday pounced on Lusaka-based freelance journalist Chanda Chimba III and grabbed an assortment of household goods over the K15 million he owes a Lusaka businessman Kaluba Maybin Chanshi.

The bailiffs arrived at about 08:16 hours aboard a white Nissan Diesel truck registration number GRZ 584 CA, and later proceeded to Chimba’s flat number 24, Baluvale Court in Lusaka’s Northmead area.

At the time, only Chimba’s wife and two children were home.
THIS IS A SO CALLED MAN OF GOD.

  14. YOU GUYS ARE CLEARLY RIGHT!! DID HE USE HIS SPOKESPERSON TO UTTER RUBBISH FOR HIM TO USE THE SPOKESPERSON TO APOLOGISE FOR THE RUBBISH HE PERSONNALY UTTERED – FOOLISH

  15. twaumfwa mwemfumu its up to ichilema to listen to your advice or not. you guys insulting a chief have no manners you can even insult your own mum or dad. if ichilema cant listen its up to him but shouldnt take advantage of RBs humility. ichilema has never said sorry to the pipo of luanshya whom he grabbed the mines from and left them to die. he stripped lima bank off its assets and left it as a shell. did the same to mosi o tunya hotel. white collar kazolo. now he cant even run a small company yaba malonda coin zambia. pay your workers

  16. Chief Mumena is a beneficially when it comes to Gvt Resources as such he is just trying to gain government support by saying what he is trying to.
This is One reason why these So Called Chiefs should not be paid by Gvt because at the end of the they look at who pays them.We are Watching You Guys ! Although we are aware our RB is trying to Indirectlty say sorry to the Asian Community We will not Relent to vote removing you out Of the Payrole after you have Voted us back in Office Come 2011-Especially Iwe Mumena you behave like the Germany Octopus !

  17. These people condemning HH should have voiced their displeasure the moment RB’s comments were made. Correcting HH for not accepting RB’s apology would have made sense.

And by the way, these two guys are in a perpetual political tussle; Other than their wives and children (that is why I cringe every time little Thandi unwittingly does shadow-boxing in the political arena) nothing about them is not political. They are politicians, for dog’s sake!

Chief Mumena, such a disappointment. What happened to you?

  18. When Rb insulted HH’s wife these people were quiet. Now that RB has realized his insane problem, they want HH just to take it by nodding his head. Its HH who felt the pain and not The Bishop and Directors of so called Tuntemba. Its up to HH to analyze the genuineness of the apology. The insult and the apology was made in politics how they can the reaction not be politicized? You can tell someone how he/she should cry.
