When I watched Frank Talk on ZNBC on wednesday where 74 yr old Dennis Liwewe was featured/interviewed, I took away a very very serious message from him — that you may try, try and try, and fail to get recognition for your efforts but what matter is that you have contributed to National Development which should satisfy you yourself and your family. 26. The alliance between FDD and UPND crumbled because UPND did not want to give a chance to FDD to float Nawakwi for 2011. If I remember correctly there was an agreement between these two parties that since HH stood on the alliance ticket in 2006, then Nawakwi will stand on the alliance ticket come 2011, but HH refused to stand down for Nawakwi. The earlier PF/UPND part company the better for them so that they campgain for their candidates since they both feel that they can win the presidency on their own.

137. Just a point of correction: PF rode on ULP’s back to win a lot of support in Lusaka in 2006. It’s without doubt that the majority of ULP supporters were former UPND. The 2008 presidential elections were portrayed as a contest between Sata and RB so most HH supporters stayed away. This time round Lusaka will be an interesting political battle field. Unlike CB were the majority inhabitants are Bemba speaking Lusaka is a proper mix of all ethnic groups.
