Hastings Bwalya Back in Action

Share

Hastings Bwalya returns to the ring on Saturday evening after five months out of the square circle.

The Las Vegas based welterweight will fight in his fifth exhibition bout since turning pro in October last year.

Bwalya will travel to Tunica Mississippi to face American journeyman Anthony Bowman in a four-round contest at the Fitzgerald Casino and Hotel.

The 38-year-old Bowman recording coming into his first with the former Africa amateur welterweight champion stands at nine wins and 38 defeats and two draws from a career spurning over nine years.

Bwalya is undefeated in his last four fights with three knockouts and one unanimous decision.

He has recently been sparring with a fellow Las Vegas native and former world welterweight champion Zeb Judah ahead of the latter’s fight with Lucas Martin Matthysse for the vacant WBO and North American Boxing Organization title  in New York this Saturday.

  1. Useless , still fighting door bouncers or barmen. When is he going to step up and fight the real boxers? Useless chap with obviously useless promoters. One year on and you are still fighting journey men. He should have been fighting journey men last year, taking on at least one door bouncer every month and by now he should have clocked 12 pro fights under his belt.

  2. #1 PHD syndrome. At least Bwalya is fighting door bouncers and barmen and earning a living. You should be proud that a Zambian is doing something noticeble rather than walking the streets of lusaka or selling pa kantemba. You will be the first person also to laugh at him if he was not doing anything tangible after winning the medal at the commonwealth. I am sure his time to step up will come and that’s why he has managers and trainers to work with. For once be a proud Zambian unless you are not.

  3. #2- Well said and you have even been kind to this professional PHD..some ppl talk like they have something permanently stuck up their behind and are forever upset with other people making progress. Hastings Bwalya is in the hands of capable managers. In fact his stable has produced boxers like Money Mayweather and them. Boxing is a sport that requires preparation- even years of it before one can compete at high levels without embarrassing themselves. Hastings pls just stay focused and you will s*it on people like this chi #1 here. These fima haters are just the wind beneath your wings.

  4. #1 You do not seem to understand this sport at all. In boxing it’s not like walking from Mass Media to Kalingalinga, NO! Hastings is a very talented boxer and America is begining to realise that. Most upcoming boxers are scared of getting into the ring with him hence the several months of inactivity. News that he sparred with the likes of Floyd Maywheater has sent his oppenents in hiding. Even Zeb Judah is no match for Sting; the boy is deadly. I can assure you Sting is the next world champian hailing from Zambia. Be positive mwana.

  5. strange comments @#1. Perhaps u shuld just stick to soccer and leave others comment about boxing. This bwalya boy is fine where he is and just needs patience to develop himself. We can only wish all the best.

  6. Hastings has a big fight coming up in january under the auspices of Exodus boxing stable. That Las vegas bout is what he needs for a build up. The main man in that exhibition is Hastings and not the American.

  7. Truly @number1 doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Hasting “Sting” as popularly known is in good hands and his stable has a lot of world class boxers. checkout The empires profile on strictly business and you will see how serious the stable is. What Hastings and concern people need to do is to have patience.
