Minister proposes CDF increase

Presidential Affairs Minister Ronald Mukuma (r)

A senior Government official has proposed that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) be increased from the current K720 million to K1 billion if its impact was to be felt by all constituents in the country.

Presidential Affairs Minister Ronald Mukuma who is also Kabompo East Member of Parliament said the increment would help Government fund many developmental projects in various constituencies using the CDF.

Mr Mukuma said this over the weekend after touring a one by three classroom block being constructed at Mayawu Middle Basic at an estimated cost of K27 million and another one by three classroom block under construction at Kapidi Basic schools which received K14.8 million respectively from Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

ZANIS reports that the Minister said Government must consider increasing the CDF because of the fund’s contribution in supplementing Government efforts to take
development to all parts of the country.

Mr Mukuma expressed happiness that the money was being put to good use and for its intended purpose in his area.

Speaking earlier, Kabompo East CDF Chairperson Zakewu Kositimu disclosed that his committee had set aside K110 million to help fill in any financial gap on any developmental project taking place in the constituency.

Mr Kositimu said the CDF committee in the area was willing to help
finance any project that would benefit the local people.

  1. THis is what Im talking about. As for those projects, Mr Zekewu. Send out adverts to the locals for project proposals they belives are benficial to them and fund according to priority. All talk and no work is the work of a lazy man. Your efforts are appreciated so far but go that extra mile for the work to speak for itself.

  4. This is the kind of thinking we need, not advocating for homosexuality. I hope CDF will be increased, its the only fund that benefice people at the grassroots

  5. Speaking of which, any of you guys know of funds apart from CEEC and YEEF that the youth can access. Unfortunately in this country you have to guess. Info in not readily available. These organisations have no websites and those few that have, the info is either outdated, insufficient, or sometimes not useful. CEEC, have a site quite alright but details like eligibility and interest rates are not there.

  6. Gay people are sick sub-animals.Anyone on the thread ever seen a Pig or Dog stuffing its hardened pipe into the a.s.s. of its fellow male Pig/Dog? Sickos is the best description of gays, infact they should be quarantined so that they dont pollute this earth.

  7. @ 12 you seem to be obssessed with hate….. let them be its their choice If you look around you this is just part of the signs of times and a way to alert us of the evil among us. Just prepare yourself lest you be found to have sinned as much as the gays for carrying an unforgiving heart.

  8. But you have been very quiet? Also what does a presidential affairs minister do? which affairs does he cordinate? social!!1

  9. I sometimes wonder whether it is just the cynic in me or whether the Zambian public just lack the ability to analyse facts. In my view, these funds should be given to councils to spend according to local priorities. At the moment councils do not even have money to clean our towns. In the meantime, politicians are busy parading projects ‘they have implemented’ and the ‘development they have brought’ to their area. Whose money is it anyway? Our councils have been bankrupted just so that politicians can have resources to use for their campaigns. How are we going to combat Malaria, Cholera and other diseases if councils cannot manage the environment. Before independence, the colonial government respected and empowered councils. That is why our towns were clean and diseases were controlled.

  10. Yes, yes increase it evn up2 K3 bilion. I jst doubt if the amounts stated in the story can put up a 1×3 classroom block bcoz the current cost is K225milion.
