Lusaka’s Buseko market gutted

Share

A section of Lusaka’s Buseko has been burnt by the fire believed to have been ignited by the brazier left in one of the make shift shop.

The fire that gutted part of the market is suspected to have started at around eleven hours yesterday.

The Make shift structures used as houses by traders at the market were the most affected by the inferno.

Market chairperson Joseph Kakandi could, however, not state the exact cause of the fire.

By broadcast time the fire brigade had not yet visited the scene.

  1. Careless traders how do you burn your own house? Muleposako amano pakushitisha mwefipuba mwe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Lepu!!!!! Lepu!!!!! Manje tizagula kuti Lepu. Malikete yapya. Proper market structires need to be put in place and constant monitoring by the councils so that the market is looked after well. Otherwise these stories will continue being told in Zambia.

  3. “By broadcast time the fire brigade had not yet visited the scene.”

    Say what?

Although they don’t tell us when “broadcast time” was, is shameful that fire brigade can’t get to the scene of ANY fire within a few minutes. This is a very serious failing. We should all demand much better!

  4. According to Namakando mmembe’s post, the fire brigade could not attend to the fire as they are participating in the national mourning of FTJ.

  5. Sorry to the Nation especially to the directly involved.

  7. First it was food security. After urban roads rehabilitation and massive new infrastructure projects, RB should tackle fire brigades next so that the massive infrastructure developed is protected.
