Suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres attacked Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) aspiring Nalolo constituency area member of parliament Catherine Akayombokwa’s husband Lloyd.
Police Spokesperson Ngangula Siamana was not reachable for comment by press time to comment on the matter but Mr. Akayombokwa confirmed.
He said he was traumatized and on his way to Makeni Police Post to report the ordeal.
ZANIS reports Mr Akayombokwa confirming the development in a telephone interview, this evening.
He said the suspected PF cadres started throwing stones at him using catapults as he approached
Bama road.
He explained that a number of motorists were stoned in the process by the unruly
youths believed to be PF supporters.
“ Despite pleading with the cadres they continued throwing stones at my vehicle as it was clad with MMD posters of
President Banda and my wife’s portrait, “ he said.
He added that that the alleged cadres blocked the road using stones.
Mr Akayombokwa has described the behavior of the suspected PF cadres as barbaric. He has since called on political parties to refrain from engaging in campaigns of violence.
Mr Akayombokwa stated that if violence continues the country may be plunged in flames hence the need to up hold the peace.

Good point @ 16, when did PF begin to influence politics in WP? These should definitely be MMD on MMD, remember the Mongu fracas and the DPP’s directives? Is there an MMD would-have-been standing as an independent with his supportes masqrading as PF. It could even be UPND supporters – the Mufumbwe experience coming back.

I saw the pictures last night with my own eyes. You want to hear more? Well well well, the reporter mentioned that the cadres had pangas, and I saw one PF cadre with a panga with my own eyes just before the cadre realised that he was on camera and sneaked into a minibus. My wife saw it too and was dead scared. But I think he can be easily identified by police from the pictures, as he and his colleagues’s faces were captured by the sharp camera man before they hid their faces.
