State House refutes reports about Zimbabwean soldiers and police in the country

Share

State house has refuted reports that President Rupiah Banda has brought soldiers and police officers from Zimbabwe into Zambia to police the forthcoming elections.

Dickson Jere, the president’s special assistant for press and public relations in a statement released to QFM today says allegations by the Patriotic Front, and particularly its Kanyama parliamentary candidate Colonel Gerry Chanda that the said soldiers and police officers are already in Zambia at the invitation of President Banda are false.

Mr Jere has challenged Colonel Chanda to state clearly where the Zimbabwean soldiers and police officers are being offered accommodation as alleged.

He has also encouraged the PF to visit the Zimbabwean embassy or indeed the Zimbabwean Government to verify the claims.

He says at no time has President Banda invited any foreign forces to help in maintaining peace and security towards the elections.

Mr Jere adds that there is no need to bring in foreign forces stating that Zambia has adequate men and women in uniform to take charge of the nation%u2019s integrity and sovereignty as has always been the case with all past elections since 1964.

He further states that the president as commander-in-chief has total confidence in the well-trained and well-experienced defence and security apparatus of Zambia, which makes foreign assistance unwarranted.

Mr Jere says President Banda reiterates his appeals that defence and security forces in the country be left out of the on-going election campaigns.

  1. RB has been on record to bring some police from his country Zimbabwe. We do not need those merciless police. We will kick out MMD and RB will go back to Zimbabwe

  2. all i can say is i think it would be a terrible idea to bring in zimbabwe police. i know loads of zimbabweans who left and are now here in london who tell me horror stories about them. cheers

  3. This is Propaganda from Sata and his call boys. Just vote wisely and lets retire Sata from Politics for Good. Sata is dull and so are those who support him. Vote for HH & the Real Change team. Second Choice Vote RB as the devil you know. Do Not, I repeat, Do Not Vote for Sata and PF. They are dangerous and tribalists.

  4. for those who think sata has no support think twice. i was in kitwe yesterday. the man did not even come. but you should have seen. people just walked. i was one of them who was there.

  5. #4 the whole country is divided on tribal lines. Just look at parliamentary candidates prof. Lungwaga, Inonge, Daka, Siliya, Chituwo, Shikapwasha, Kabinga Mpande, GBM, Masebo, Mangani, Chizyuka, Mwiimbu,. Iwe Zambia is tribalist! Sata is not factor dont talk about him. Just camapign hard otherwise it is getting hottier everyday nearing to 20/9.

  6. it is very clear that the Poor Finishers are panicking…. why are you trying so hard to give excuses for your eminent loss ? serves you right for trusting constable njoka !

  7. Gentlemen, all i remember is that there was a group of Zimbabwean soldiers who came to Zambia on a study visit. As per tradition, they paid a courtesy on the inspector general of police. During the discussions, the IG mentioned something like he may need re-inforcement from Zimbabwean security personnel during the time of the elections. However, this has been blown out of proportion by the media especially our collegues at the post newspapers. Otherwise, we have held several elections and i do not remember at anytime did we have to hire security personnel from Zimbabwe. Ifyakulandalanda abanthu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No facts just yapping like George Mpombo.

  8. I see one regreting for the rest of his life. Zambian leaders should learn from what is happening in libya.

  9. Chanda is just having ants in his pants. The poor gentleman is ploughing grounds to justify his looming defeat at the polls. No sane MMD official should offer him clout by answering him. He just needs to be ignored.

  10. Don’t pay attention to propaganda. We shall not permit policing of Zambia by foreigners. We have enough young men that can take care of the task. Probably at the moment the Ministry of Home Affairs must state one way or the other if at all we have enough enlisted personnel to police the country during election time. This is an opportunity for the chief of police to be on the air both TV and Radio to inform the nation of where things are in terms of preparedness for the elections.

  11. This is the problem of having a foreigner as a Zambian president in the name of Rupiah Banda. When Zambians were dying of POVERTY in Southern Province, RB donated MAIZE to Zimbabwe his relatives.

If Rupiah is not a FOREIGNER he can not IMPORT foreigner Zimbabweans to monitor and terrorise Zambians when Zambians have their Zambia Police.

JERE could also be a MALAWIAN surely he is not Zambian this man!!!

Only elections has made him to stay in Zambia, after the elections, he will TAKE OFF to his skill of SCAVENGING Airplanes to foreign TRIPS. What a SHAME!!

  12. PF is so scared to go to the polls, thus mounting allegation after allegation. No way out for you PF kaponyas just be ready to be humiliated by voters on 20th. Why so many illusions even before we enter September?

  13. pf is quickly crushing down. the much talked about rally in kitwe was a disastor apart form the noise taxis amd bus drivers. is that what you call big rally with fools like former frank Bwalya and panji. how can right thinking zambians parade themselves before failure like the two above?

  14. Seriously this loose talking by some politicians is getting out of hand. Its sad more especially coming from a retired military personnel. I wonder how he rose to the rank of Lt. Col when he can parade such ignorance. He is lucky the electorate in Zambia are not very analytical when voting for candidates. He will win just by the fact that he is on a PF ticket and Lusaka is a PF stronghold otherwise I pity the people of Kanyama. What an MP.

  15. please verify the he presidential paper in question.there is a rumour that the paper has tow parts and that the first part fads after 24hrs and leaving on a different mark . meaning if you voted for the president of your choice your mark will fade and will have a different mark which will mean your vote will be diviated to the president you didnt vote for. ngoma the man allerged to have tryed to steel the same paper may wanted to prove this but the interested parties knows how to shut him but not too late to prove. Zambia a christain nation will never be overiden bu evil because the person who decleared can never change what he decleared. so be it.

  16. We only hope you dont turn round and say it was as a matter of ‘priority’ that you considered bringing in the Zimbos afterall !

  17. Just like the Sindamisale lies….typical PF. They want to cause confussion. PF thrives on lies as we have always said.

  18. The truth which is unfolding is that PF has lost popularity in its strong-hold regions of Lusaka, Copperbelt and Luapula provinces. To prove their worth to PF’s donors in Thaiwan and European Gay Institutions, Sata devised a series of tactics to derail the elections. The PF in liaison with The Post, a clique of Lawyers & NGOs developed a “DON’T KUBEBA Project” to act on (1) Dragging RB’s parentage to Courts; (2) prevent George Kunda’s service as Vice-President; (3) plotted a rumour that a Durban Co printing ballot papers was corrupt; (4) tried to destroy the integrity of ACC key officers; (5) hatched a claim PF had infiltrated the Army; (6) now that GRZ has recruited Zimbabwean Army & Police into Zambia. The PF’s financial sponsors and supporters are regretting in agony.

  19. I Only pray to God mweba giver please come and get some leaders awayfrom us, mubagetelele for Good Mwe Lesa let the forigners go back to their Motherland, twanakanobo bakelenka!!!!! bantalamisoka balatuletelela.

  20. An effective political analyst reads the mood of the political atmosphere. What has happened is that even kaponyas have realised that they have wasted their votes in so many past elections on sata and now they have realised that since they have failed to remove sata from the helm, they have opted to move on. If you go in town/intercity, you will see all blue attire and flags flying at will and life goes on. Sata has taken his suporters for granted for too long but this time around, inteligent kaponyas are wide awake!!!.

  21. People of Zambia why be brainwashed into fighting a few selfish disgruntled individuals wars!fi pf nachi membe twakana we don’t want war!lies and deceit lyonsefye and pf suppoters are so blind dat everything they read from dat evil paper of the past is gospel truth, bane if u aren’t ready for elections js concede we only have one Zambia and nowhere to run to!

  22. You id.iots everything its SATA & PF, visit Zimbabwe’s “the Herald” you will see the news or “Allafrica”. That news is already there, you see thats the way things start they spread a rumour to see reactions from pipo it pipo dont react they go ahead.
    Its true!!!!

  23. A Dicky muluwekoni namwe aliye na omulanga. Echito pilikishiwa pakhomo pa nyina wake! Ni ndola, Tipitilizhe a Jere!

  24. How many things has Sata and PF said that have turned out to be false? This is the reason why Sata seems to have a cow-hide as a skin on his face. The man is evil.

  25. SATA and the TOP PF LEADERSHIP know beyond doubt that PF is not only losing the elections but going into EXTINCTION as well. So,they are now desperately HUNTING for excuses and INVENTING LIES in the HOPE of causing CONFUSION in the nation.Just IGNORE them,MASHILU.I have already bought a COFFIN in readiness for the BURIAL of PF on SEPTEMBER, 21.So please let Sata/PF cry, uwulelila, tabamuceba ku kanwa.

  26. By the way, PF cadres you have not answered my questions. You were hyping against “UNIPists” until we learnt from Guy Scott, your own vice president, that actually PF is the UNIPist party by constitution and they intend to remain so until their next General conference in 2016. Since you have condemned anybody whom you perceived to be UNIP including yourselves, that they should never be given power, why then haven’t you withdrawn from the contest? Well, if you don’t withdraw the people of Zambia have already picked the message and will deny PF their vote. That is the agony of ukubwata bwata without thinking!

  27. @ 36 Katie Good, I agree with you. Can the opposition tell us what they’ll do for Zambians when they get into power. Something different from what is being done by the present govnt. RB and co. know too well that bringing Zim police or any other foreign forces during election time will be underrating our own police and military who are so capable. Can you for once talk sense PF please!!!! we are waiting to hear sense not the crap of insulting. Zambians are not fools to be taken for such kindergatten talk.

  28. Since when did we borrow cops from outside the country? Banda wants to seell this country to his motherland Zimbabwe. if the inspector general is only realising now that we dont have enough policemen to maintain peace why didn’t he ask for financing during budget time? Dont sell our country
