Teachers hail RB

Share

The Lusaka Province Teachers Committee has praised President Rupiah Banda for announcing the sale of houses to teachers of Tanganda and mine Basic Schools in Mufulira.

Committee Chairperson George Mutambo and his vice Benard Matantilo says the decision taken by the President shows that he has a heart for all Zambians.

The two have appealed to teachers throughout the country to rally behind President Rupiah Banda and the MMD party.

This is contained in a statement released to ZNBC News in Lusaka on Thursday.

At a public rally in Mufulira, President Rupiah Banda assured Tanganda and Mine Basic Schools teachers in the area that government will give them an opportunity to buy the units they are occupying.

Mufulira District Commissioner Rabecca Mukuka distributed the letters of offers to the sitting tenants Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Mukuka says it is the policy of government to provide accommodation to all Zambians.

She says government has offered the house to all the sitting tenants at the two schools at cost of three point two million kwacha.

And Committee Patron Wisdom ‘Destroyer’ Nkandu has dismissed assertions that the gesture by government to offer them houses is a campaign gimmick.

Mr Nkandu says his committee started making the petition to the government in 2006 during the time of late President Levy Mwanawasa.

  1. RBISH is mad people…what happens when these teachers retire….WERE WILL THE NEW TEACHERS BE STAYING…BULLSHIT

  2. y should all teachers rally behind RB for giving out houses at 2 schools.the best was to come up with a comprehesive housing scheme to benefit majority of us teachers.he is merely giving out houses built by others.

    • igwee you are right. what about police officers and soldiers who stay for example in sikanze, arakan barracks what is there for them. they are also equally voters. better put a housing scheme for all to benefit. this same cash they are using to buy cars for campaigns let them give out house loans to civil servants.

  3. Well done RB,but please build some more houses for teachers who are yet to graduate from colleges. These houses should not be sold to avoid accommodation problems for the new teachers and those on transfer. Then, instead of selling teachers houses, assist them with loans so that they can build their own houses in areas of their choice.Viva RB,viva MMD.

  4. kicks of the looser. RB i think by now you should have packed all your katundu cause this year niZWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  5. Lusaka times should stop aligning itself with MMD. I can sense this from the headline. Please don’t exagerate because its not all teachers benefiting from this. I am beginning to see through your reporting. Please try to be neutral so that we do not liken you to the post and daily mail or times of Zambia which are biased towards people they want.

  6. He should sell all institutional houses throughout the country then, even hospital compounds, how can houses from two schools make all teachers in the country vote for him, kwena bupuba sana ubu. Where will the new teachers be staying when those retire, but desperation can make someone lose brains.

  7. S.T.U.P.I.D RB how can you sell institutional houses. Once these pipo retire they will continue to live within the school premises and may even find themselves in conflicts with the school authorities. NONSENSE!!!!!

  8. i was almost changing my mind to vote for the MMD but because of this am now certain, that those are desparate measures to get votes, they is no heart for people all this is for votes. RB only cares for today not for the future, am a student teacher and i don’t i will saty when i finish my studies.

  9. I thnk RB is mad.hw cn u sell institutional houses?i think he should also extend dat offer to barrack houses in military camps so dat they also benefit.poor campaign strategy.VIVA PF and to all thoz beneficiaries of thoz houses,DONCHI KUBEBA.

  10. Anyone who supports this kind of shallow thinking must be thrown in jail with RB!
First scenario, a teacher buys a house and is transferred to another province. The government starts to pay him housing allowances?
Second scenario, a teacher retires? The incoming teacher we have no accommodation and the increase in the number of retired teachers around the school is not a good motivator for young teacher who have just started there careers. They will  start to think that they have chosen a wrong career when they look at the suffering of their retired comrades, pensions benefits takes to long to be released for government workers.

  11. WE IN THE MILITARY ARE NOT GOING TO ALLOW SATA TO RULE ZAMBIA EVEN IF HE HAD THE SLIM CHANCE TO WIN. LET HIM GO TO SCHOOL FIRST,WE DONT WANT A GRADE 7 TO DESTROY OUR BELOVED ZED.

  12. Uwafitampile nibatata abayashi ba Chiluba. Chaba ichisela nomba ukushitisha ama government houses. No vision. Filiuko tuleya.
