State urged to come up with district budgets

Independent Member of Parliament for Lubansenshi constituency Patrick Mucheleka says the government should consider coming up with district development budgets.

Mr. Mucheleka tells QFM that this will help in accelerating development especially in rural areas were the poverty levels are still high.

The parliamentarian notes that the Constituency development fund which currently stands at about K700 million is not enough to cater for all the developmental projects especially in areas were the constituencies are too vast.

Mr. Mucheleka has further pledged to support any government programmes that will aim at alleviating poverty among other issues.

  1. Well said Mr. Independent, I say let us cut MP’s gratutity by 50% so that we can take it towards developing your areas, I say let us cut MP’s car budgets as well. We as the citizens scarificed so much with that HIPC talk, I say it is time for the Government and leaders to scarifice this time as well.

  2. Jonas thats the way to go. Lets see these people have only on 4×4 VEHICLE which they can use in all funtions. Its starts with Government cuttings down on unnecessary expenditure. With more money in the pockets kind of thinking, thats the only way my mother kwa misisi will see the difference.

  3. Jonas, you are very right, especially that Rupiah increased the salaries for MPs just so that they can all have a jolly ride and look away as he misbehaves! Let’s have this MP be the first to accept that he is ready to give up 10% of his car budget, which is ZK40,000,000 multiply by the 150 MPs, this will give us K6billion which we can use in the most vulnerable constituences where there are no basic needs like a secondary school and health centre! How about that Mr. Mucheleka?

  4. That will led to another problem… need more money and more and so non. What we need is decentralisation. Each province must get its own strategies of raising funds fro its development in line with what reosurces it has in that province. Then we see real development.

  5. Sata`s tribal prejudice has forever been at dangerous levels. His tribal lopsided cabinet mirrors the one Chiluba picked in 1991, upon Sata`s Advice. This is a man who, as a Minister, had the audacity to speak bemba on National Public Radio(ZNBC) despite speaking to the nation at large. Under his leadership, if he defies the voices of reason as anticipated, there is a possiblilty of the other regions pushing for SELF DETERMINATIN( EMANCIPATION)

  6. This play boy Mucheleka should just follow Makalombe. You will not develop that constituency being Independent Member of Parliament Mwaiche wandi the money for districts will be under the chiefs Ministry bo Inonge Wina.Chiefs and head men will part of the district fund The president did not even consider your name on the minister, because of what you and did.Kapapa te kuli ba kate mwaiche and your uncle GBM.yOU SOON finish like YOUR uncle Chilekwa Munkonge.

    • Ba mudala bola panshi, every man has the right to decide what he wants, Mucheleka is a very responsible man and he has good ideas for the country at large. His opinion is sound and it is a pity you are addressing him as a play boy. But anyway for you to say so that means you are a play boy too. Mwangala bonse te? Mwakalombe is a failure and he did not do his home work well. If all people think in your way, am sure Zambia will not develop. Sata te lesa iyo!
