Copper bullets shoot down Black Stars

Share

Last night Zambia defeated the mighty Black stars in a very tense match .

Kennedy Mweene saved an early penalty kick that would have put Ghana ahead . The Black stars dominated much of the match , but chipolopolo did not give up .

In the second half , against the run of play, substitute Mayuka, received the ball with his back to goal , controlled it with his first touch then swung and sent a shot curling past Adam Kwarasey and in off the foot of the post for his third goal of the tournament  giving Zambia a shock 1-0 win over four-time champions Ghana and securing   a place in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

When I had the ball, I saw the defender backing off a little bit and then I just said to myself take a shot. And then I just said to myself thank you God and I knew this was our day” Mayuka told reporters.

“It was written in the stars that we had to return to Gabon in order to honour the memories of the national side wiped out in 1993,” said Zambia’s French coach Herve Renard.

“A team that is returning home and all of them die, is catastrophic for a country.

Twelve million Zambians wanted us to go the whole way to Libreville. As soon as we arrive in Libreville, we will go to the spot where the plane crashed, not far from the stadium.

“It is imperative we play for them, for Zambia, because it is a fantastic country.”

  1. @1 AMEN; our boys have done us proud. GOD be with them, this tournament is special for Zambia. As an underdog team (per worlds perceptions???) We have shown them that THE Copper bullet is POWER.
BA ZAMBIA KUMA FAINO MAMA??? KUMA FAINO.. VIVA CHIPOLOPOLO

  2. Am so filled with tears of joy. watched the match all by myself in my small house, but it didnt matter as i could not help myself and screamed my lungs out over the victory. glory be to God indeed. the RB govent was holding so many things back and now we have been released in think in all areas things will be loosend

  3. The game was difficult but we applaud the Chipolopolo for not buckling under intense pressure. Mayuka let fly the BULLET that blacked out the stars…Anyway black stars do not shine! Mweene, Mweene, I am speechless….Chipolopolo iyee. We love u!

  4. Credit to Mweene and Mayuka,Chisamba Lungu brought in some strength in the midfield,Can Zambian players speak english? i heard some west africans arguing among themselves that Zambia is a former French colony because they have never heard any Zambian player express himself freely with the queens lingo.

    • Whether they speak English or not… the fact is clear that we are Zambians and whatever language that one is fluent in is a plus for purposes of communication…. The bullets only targets and aims to bring the adversary down,…. and this is what the chipolopolo boys are doing…. Kala nachi zungu chako…ndiye mwamene udyela… namaboys ni muli bola

    • yes we should be proud of our local languages and thus the need for us to have an interpreter whenever theses boys are interviewed. proudly zambian!!!!!!!viva zambia viva mweeene, viva mayuka, viva sunzu, viva kalaba and viva all you guys. mweene is bemba. all my tonga friends and relatives tapali ichenu goalie mweene is bemba!!!!! hahahahaha!! love you guys tonga bemba lenje lozi yeeeees! proudly zambian!!!!!!!!!sipolopolo eye!!! hipolopolo! iye chipolopolo!

  5. very good. just use the Copper bullets for everyone to understand instead of chipolopolo. It will also promote our nation as a copper giant country to the outside world.

  6. I wont be suprised if HH, CORNELIUS MWEETWA or UPND blamed PF for Ghana’s loss. They condemn PF for anything and everything

  7. Congratulations boys. you ve really done us proud. Come sunday , you will graduate into men, after beating the the so called ivorians. we are behind you! gogogogogo Zambia

  8. They were highly overrated by the so called soccer pandits and it got to their heads. They thought they would easily run over us and they were mistaken! The stars are shinning upon us this time around, the one who has brought us this far will see us through. Glory be to God. Amen.

    • First, Congratulation for defeating our Black stars.
It is amazing that you guys are jubilant like you won the cup.
To answer your assertion that Ghana Underestimated and thought that “they can easily run over you”. Ghana did not assume any superiority over your copper star but we did outplayed you in all department of the game except one… we all know . You were just lucky. We did not want to break your soft hearts. So rejoice as it last. we will meet again. we will not have mercy on you.
I am will predict that Cote Ivoire will run over you like a sheep to the slaughter house

  9. The coach is right go to the spot first where our gallant team died and ask for skills transfer, ask makinka, timothy mwitwa, efford chabala, etc how we can beat ivory coast. MTSRP, but dont go playing CIV ninshi mulelosha, the ivorians will have no mercy go for a kill, they are physically better than us and run faster.

  10. president micheal sata should set up the commission of enquiry to investigate what killed the zambia national soccer team that perished in gabon in 1993, so that the truth can be known to the national. this issue has being stepped on by previous regimes for a long time.

    • Nah let them rest in peace commission of inquiry this commission of inquiry that. Let the current Chipolopolo avnge their death with an all out war in Libreville :)>-

  11. Well done boys. Keep your eyes on the ball the deed is not yet done. Pampuleni ichikombe bantu bandi. Abana balala balala … abana balala balala…sing along people

  13. UGLY TRUTH@7……KEEP YOUR MENTAL SLAVERY TO YOURSELF. WHY SHOULD ZAMBIANS WHO CAN COMMUNICATE FREELY IN THEIR LOCAL LANGUAGE BE FORCED TO ADOPT A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AS THEIR MEDIUM OF COMMUNICATION?? YOU PATHETIC FOOL WHO CANT INVENT ANYTHING…NOT EVEN YOUR TRIBE/LANGUAGE. PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD BE SHOT AT SIGHT.

  14. God is opening up this nation to many blessings that He has bestowed on us since the foundation of the world.Let us rally behind our national team.It is time to honour our fallen heroes and bring back the lost glory to MOTHER ZAMBIA. Lesa apale zambia.

  15. Rely we give credit where it is due. I predicted Zambia 1 Ghana 0 and I was right. This time around It’s Zambia 2 Ivory Cost 0. By the way guys what was dropping the BLACK STARS in the match?

  16. Glory be to GOD in the highest!!!! Father we thank you for the Cup that is coming to Zambia on Sunday. May there be a twelveth man on the pitch, the Son of Man. We look only to you Mighty God for help because without you we can do nothing. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN!!!

  17. This is a terrible result for Simataa Simata & Kamanga team, and their watch-dog Augustus Mukoka of The Post who don’t like FAZ & Kalusha.
We told you that if you vote for Sata, we will start winning football. Nalikwebele tabulwapo.

    • Simataa must apologise for his blatant insults and disrespect to FAZ. so should Vongo to the Zambian nation. his fake predictions gave me misery

  18. The Black Stars wanted to listen to what the chipolopolo was saying good they kept using vernacular, you are sick if as a Zambian this annoyed you. Some of you no nothing but looking for faults in others . Sorry if you can still not see the good work the boys have done, the whole world have.

    • I wept for the gallant heroes, such an emotional sight it was to behold zambia triumph, In Libreville on sunday, i will cry the more as they embark on the home return journey with the trophy wrapped in zambian flag…..oooh i see it, tough it will be but thats just wat it will be…we have endured mourning for 19 agonising years for our brothers who perished off the coast of Libreville, Day and night, their souls have cried unto the almighty God for vengeance, as it is written, Vengeance is the Lord’s. It just has to be in Gabon where we finally pick one of the many trophies to come on the continent! Oh My God…..THANK YOU DADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. I DID NOT HAVE ANY DOUBTS ABOUT ZAMBIA MAKING IT TO THE FINALS. WE ARE SEEMINGLY DULL BUT VERY DISCIPLINED PEOPLE. CONGRATULATIONS MY BOYS. NOW, DON’T REST. FIGHT TO THE LAST ATOM. VIVA SATA FOR PROMOTING THE CAPTAIN. IT HAD A POSTIVE IMPACT ON THE TEAM. LEARN NOT TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE DEAD. APPRECIATE THEM WHEN THEY ARE STILL LIVING AS THIS ENCOURAGES THEM EVEN TO PERFORM BETTER. VIVA ZAMBIA. WE DESERVE THE BEST. TWAYABUKA AGAIN PABWATO- SHHHHHHHH!!!

  24. THE NEXT THING IS TO BUILD A MORDEN STADIUM IN EACH TOWN TO ENCOURAGE NOT ONLY SOCCER BUT EVEN OTHER SPORTING EVENTS, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

  25. Ba Zambia nalelo bawina chipolopolo ba Zambia iye ba Zambia Chipolopolo. That was really a wonderful job guys. We as Zambians and supporters have seen your perseverance. Don’t be scared of Didier Drogba, Kalou or Yaya Toure. They are just like. Remember you are also making records. Word of caution from those who are negative, if you have nothing to say or encourage our lads, shout up. Ba Kalu, speak with the boys tell them what it means playing such a tournament especially that it will be final

  28. #30 I AGREE WITH YOU GOD HAS BEEN ON OUR SIDE AND INDEED WE NEED THE TWELVE MAN IN THE GAME LIKE THOSE THREE WHO WHERE PUT IN THE BURNING FURNACE THERE WAS A FOURTH MAN. GOOOOOO…………………. Zambia Go.

  29. Go Zambia GO. I am excited that Zambia has gone through to the finals. It speaks volume about the spirit and talent of the Zambians. Lets bring the CHAMPIONSHIP home(SADC). South Africa is behind you all the way.

  30. Even underdogs have teeth! Our slogan “Donchi Kubeba” meaning don’t tell them who we are, and that we actually are favourites for this trophy. Ghana should learn just like senegal that football is not about names alongside you. Its God first and respect for the game of football with its contenders and finally preparations and playing the ball not people.

  31. #35 Caf-u. U thot my thot boy. Emmanuel “Ma-Ucar” go to Gabon where the Great and legendary Ucar Chitalu is awaiting to pass to you the buton of Greatness!!! Go Go Go and hunt the elephant down!!!!

  32. We don’t care how many Dembas we crush. First it was Demba BA, then came Demba GYAN. Next in the line of fire is Demba DROGBA. Chipolopolo munches Dembas for snacks. The harder they come, the harder they fall.

  33. For Zambia to complete the consummation as a GREAT FOOTBALL NATION, after winning the Championship on Sunday, We need to host the AFCON. The economy and time now is RIPE!!!! ZAMBIA for AFCON 2017 or 2019!!!!!! Bloggers, what your take?

  34. Bloggers, whats your take?
For Zambia to complete the consummation as a GREAT FOOTBALL NATION, after winning the Championship on Sunday, We need to host the AFCON. The economy and time now is RIPE!!!! ZAMBIA for AFCON 2017 or 2019!!!!!!

  35. #7 You are brain washed iwe ai? Chipolopolo is understood by every zambian including bambuye bako. Va copper bullets ivo ukamba weka!

  37. One shot, One Copper Bullet Shot to the Head of Ghana is all it took. We are in the finals. We have loaded Copper Bullets in OUR Muzzle loader, we are ready to shot down the Elephants of Ivory Coast.

One shot is all it will take to cripple it and the other shot to the brain. 2 – 0 will be the result.

  38. Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo Chipolopolo

  39. You were just lucky. Look at the rubish passing by Zambia. Your luck has run out come sunday, you cant afford to play that school boy football aginst IC.
Zambians Make sure you have plenty tissue or a muitenge material next to you on sunday, there will be plenty tears of shame. Zambia 0 — IC 3.

    • Sober I agree with you 100%. There are few of us who see with eyes and brains. Most of the people just use eyes to see without unbiased analysis. Ghana was a better team but lost due to wasted chances. Standard of football is higher with Ghana than Zambia but Zambia was luck to utilise that chance. If they play like that aganist ivory coast they will be butchered even by 4-0, They however have a chance of winning although is slim

  40. 3D worked for us. Determination, dedication and discipline (3D). We play as a team and cover for each other. Well-done boys. Boys – please no more breaking of curfew rules and HR (Herve Renard) don’t chase the any boy anymore.

  41. @Hakuna..I agree with you..our players ought to invest in buildings now..they should not be beggars when they can’t play for the national team or in case of an accident..

  42. I had earlier mentioned that Zamba had fewer chances of going through to the final and I was very right. Zambia only had 6 shots on the goal while Ghana had 13 shots. But the difference is Zambia utilised most of the fewer chances and managed to score one. Ghana was a better side but wasted their chances so they lost. Coming to the Ivory coast mali game Ivory Coast were favourites and they toook the day. For the cup final on Sunday Ivory coast are favourites and they have more chances of winning than Zambia. Its up to Zambia to maximise their fewer chances like they did with Ghana. Best wishes to Zambia. This is an indepenednt and unbiased anaylysis. Any sensible person will agree with me.

  43. please dont dream dear zambians ivory coast will win that cup like in 1992. since 2006 drogba generation is after it and they will do all they can to get it

  44. Dr Vongo’s licence should be revoked with immediate effect. His prediction has been proved very wrong and he lied that God spoke to him in his dreams that Zambia will come out third at the AFCON.

  45. pipo, pipo, please…realise that seasons do change, we are not in the past to say because Ivory coast wont in such a year, this year again it will be the same….teams are different, timing is different…Drogba and whoever you are afraid of in Ivory Coast, that is making some of you say negative against Zambia, like the comentators we have been hearing who have(at the end of every game)been silenced, need to understand seasons change……In the Bible, the book of Ecclesiastes9:11 says it well…..’that the RACE is not to the SWIFT, nor the BATTLE to the STRONG,neither yet BREAD to the WISE, nor yet RICHES to the MEN OF UNDERSTANDING,nor FAVOR to Men of SKILL, BUT….TIME and CHANCE happens to THEM ALL……”

  46. great credit goes to Mweene, mweene, mweene, mweene….right now the shivers to the Ivory coast team are on Mweene, they now know that he will CATCH ALL OF DROGBA’S SHOTS,AND ALL OF GERVINHO’S SHOTS IF AT ALL…..AND ALLLLLLL THEIR PENALTIES……

  47. great credit goes to Mweene, mweene, mweene, mweene….right now the shivers to the Ivory coast team are on Mweene, they now know that he will CATCH ALL OF DROGBA’S SHOTS,AND ALL OF GERVINHO’S SHOTS IF AT ALL…..AND ALLLLLLL THEIR PENALTIES……WHILE ALLL OUR GOALS WILL ENTER THEIR NET….

  48. awe mwe! we all know that our team is unpredictable, especially that the last game was not inspiring at all, but this does not mean that they cant bounce back and spring a suprise or two. to reach this far is evidence enough that the chaps are playing to win. why bask in names now that zambia beat senegal which also had big names. who is drogba if he is not performing to expectations at chelsea? who is kalou when he warms the bench all the time? who is kolo toure when he rarely makes the starting line up at man city? boys you can much them if you really put in your all. good lucky.

  49. Ba LT, this is good reporting. Thanks for adding the video clips. Viva Renard! Viva Chipolopolo! One Zambia, One Nation. Iyeeeee Chipolopolo.

  50. Hey, what’s the news? Remember, that coach who vowed to resign if his Ghana soccer team were to lose to Zambia in that semi-final. Is he still Ghana coach today? Please, somebody, go interview him. I know he has already find out how hard it is to swallow one’s own words. Me and Zambia…? We are singing….Iyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Chipolopolo. Iyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Chipolopolo…
