Zambia National Soccer Team Captain Christopher Katongo has called on soccer fans to respect Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard’s decision to expel Clifford Mulenga from the team.

Katongo said the coach has every right to punish a player who is indiscipline so as to instill discipline in the team.

The national team Captain stated that there is no need for Zambians to be upset with Renard as he did not come up with the decision to send Mulenga home alone.

“The decision was arrived at by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) officials and the national team,” Katongo said.

Katongo disclosed that it was the agreements of the entire team to exhibit discipline at the tournament adding that there is no need to blame the coach.

“We were actually speaking in our local language as a team that we should exhibit a high level of discipline at the tournament so that other teams could emulate us. Renard could not hear what we were saying,” he said.

Katongo said he was surprised that some of the players decided to do the opposite of what they discussed earlier.

And when asked what he could have done by one of the callers from Mansa if he were in Renard’s shoes, Katongo said he is a Christian and would have forgiven Mulenga.

“If I was in Renard ‘s shoes, I was going to forgive Mulenga because God also forgives our sins daily but I being the Captain of the team I led by example and exhibited some discipline both inside and outside the pitch,” Katongo said.

He was speaking in Lusaka yesterday during an interview at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) .

[pullquote]“We were actually speaking in our local language as a team that we should exhibit a high level of discipline at the tournament so that other teams could emulate us. Renard could not hear what we were saying,” he said.[/pullquote]

Meanwhile, Katongo has commended Zambians for their support to the national team during and after the AFCON tournament.

Katongo said Zambians should maintain the same spirit they showed the team adding that they are known to be a peaceful and loving nation.

He has further called on Zambians to support the team for the next three to four years so that it goes to the world cup.

And speaking at the same program, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications officer Eric Mwanza disclosed that trophy will be taken round the whole provincial centres across the country so that people could have a feel of the trophy.

Mwanza said team captain Katongo together with other FAZ officials will take the trophy to all the provincial centres.

  1. Renard should forgive the young one.We forgave him when he ditched us for money and went to Angola. He should not play holier than thou.

    • Renard left without saying goodbye when we gave him his biggest test on the continent-HEAD COACH…he deserted us…whatever was the problem we had a right to know, we pay him as Zambians (Faz should have also immediately explained)..Anyway, we accepted him back and he showed his strengths and we beat Africa-there is a lession here, Mulenga is a bigger man now…he needs a second chance-he will come back stronger, his playing career is limited and if he is good enough he should be shown mercy…just like Renard was allowed back-i believe the coach should learn more about cultural differences-Ubantu is big in Zambia, we dont express anger for life (remember the push on Davis Nkausu during the final game by Renard)…lets ask Davis how he feels…i bet he has moved on! Come coach…\:d/

  2. Thank you Chris, we appreciate you guys. But know that Zambia is a Christian nation; we should learn to forgive and forget. Clifford made a mistake and the boy has apologized therefore let’s move on. Let the boy be considered for other national games than what the coach said. VIVA Chipolopolo, Let your brother Clifford come back. He has learnt a lesson. Forgive Him..

    • I have not heard anywhere else that Mulenga has apologied. Who is your source of this news? In any case he should have apologised much earlier, like when the others apologised hence they where not sent away from the tournament. Any apology from him now, or after Zambia won the cup surely can not be taken as being sincere

  3. This is very true. Any leader in any organisation should exhibit some level of discipline and make sure those that are indiscipline are dealt with adquately

  4. Take the trophy to all provincial centres?why do you yobs have such a huge appetite for wastage. What value is their looking at some trophy compared to the expenditure that will be incured.Just say you are going campaigning using the trophy. For Christopher Katongo, your comments fail short of a Captain, tommorrow it could be you,we are aware that your brother was with Clifford on that night so dont play smart here.Congrats tho.

  5. Katongo said I cud have done the same like what the coach Herve Renard did but I been a christain I cud forgive him (now that the tournament were he misbehaved has finished).

    • Indeed, skill without discipline is useless. Rising to the top is not enough; character is what sustains us on top. Clifford’s behavior does not match the profession in which he is; if he wants to excel.

    • Can we please not confuse forgiveness with the honour of playing in the squard, the boy has been forgiven done and delt with lets move on. he does not have the character to wear the national colours… PERIOD..

  6. I think discipline is very important in soccer. Ghana and Ivory coast were stronger teams than Zambia, but lacked the discipline shown by the Zambian team. No one player is above the team. Let him go and leak his wounds somewhere else. He can also try to talk to the coach and apologise. We have hired a coach to make a team and we can not tell him who to play. We can only hold him accountable to the results he brings back. That’s how it works. The coach and not soccer fans or anyone else makes the team.

  7. Clifford mulenga is regrating like HH. Let him swllow up his pride and apologise. Otherwise it will be the end of his football career. I full support of Renards decision.

  8. Which local language are you referring to ‘katongo’. Not all players understand your language because palyers like, Emmanuel Mayuka, Mweene, Himoonde, Sunzu, Nkausu, Emmanuel Mbola and Singuluma if they hard to make a final team, can not be forced to learn your DON’T KUBEBA slogan. This national team is  a combination of all tribes which means languages should not bring problems. It is easy for you like Katongo, kalaba, chansa, Sinkala, Musonda and others. Other players from other tribes like Mbesuma can only speak but not understand your don’t kubeba satan behaviour, good luck for you Guys..!! Some where asking which tribe Mayuka is comming from..? Mayuka comes from Southern province even though he was brought up in Kabwe, There are names in southern attached to Mayuka.

    • NO 10 kizito,so how do you think they communicate? of therez a language they all use besides remove nkausu & sunzu from that list they aint from wer you are thinking! dont attach DONCHI KUBEBA this statement pliizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. grow up!!

    • Why do you have to bring in tribe even when there’s no tribe? You are the chaps causing problems in Zambia. Chris simply said local language and you are already trying to divide the team. What language is spoken in Lusaka? Nyanja and Bemba too, among a few others likes lenje, etc. Even the team if they are copperbelt chaps woudl expect that there was quite a bit of bemba, nyanja there “ati guys twaleteya”. Bemba rules, get over it. We saw one team play in Gabon, if you were seeing some 11 tribes playing you must be sick! get a life, Bemba rules coz of numbers, go to CSO and learn why! What language do you think chipolopolo is? Tonga? It means bullets in Bemba. And no one woke up one day and said lets name the team Chipolopolo. It just happened, came from some Bemba song (naturally!)

    • Sick people. You must be thinking Renard is bemba and appointed a Bemba captain. Get used to them, they outnumber any other tribe and are rulers, even napoleon said kwaliba bakateka, nefitekwa. Get the vibe? he he he. Poor Kizito!!! Some of these names are pretty misleading… Almond Musonda is Kaonde. Dont judge a person by their names!!!!

    • heh! heh! heh! heh! Mr Dont Kubeba Like I have said somewhere else on this website Im not bemba but I speak better Bemba than some Bembas. Let me just show you by correcting you. Chipolopolo doesnt mean bullets. It actually means Big Bullet. Bulllets should be “Ifipolopolo”. However we have all ignored the strict meaning of the word and decided to go with Chipolopolo as bullets. Waona mudala ise amene tiziba mitundu ya anthu onse?

    • kizito…why are are you angry about DON’T KUBEBA slogan? dont kuleta type of HH anger in the afcon victory. Herve renard forgive clifford just like you were forgiven by zambians when you left us in shock. You people forget about triblism we are one zambia. katongo and kalusha should plead to rena to forgive clifford we need him. viva zambia

    • @kizito, any zambian language is LOCAL language. Important thing is it was spoken and understood by all of them except the coach. Which one they used you can not know and that is not the issue here but it was definately not english or french or spanish! Take your tribalistic tendencies elsewhere!! keep the team as one stop splitting them into different tribes. Sha!

    • There you go again sh!ting and far&ting through your mouth… people like you with such small minds should not exist at all!!! good luck with your bitterness.

  9. Renard left for greener pastures. Who doesnt want greener pastures? You are bitter because he has brought good results….let clifford lick his wounds…. long live RENARD

  10. Clifford Mulenga no longer deserves a place in the squad. Let others who aspire to play for Zambia earn the right to take his place, and hope that those who follow will learn from the better example of other players who maintained their discipline. Forgiveness in one thing, but there should also be consequences for actions. Clifford can be forgiven whilst still being barred from consideration for selection.

  11. Kizito you are not a player to know the local languge Katongo ment. So Katongo knows well the local language they use to communicate period. t

  12. Chris Katongo is a true and examplary leader. I understand that he is an army officer, I may be wrong on this one but if he is he knows what discipline means in life.
Tevez is one of the best players in the world and this got to his head and was chucked out and refused to apologise. In his 4 months absence Man City made huge progress and are now on top of the premier league table. Tevez is now back after apologising.

  13. @ 10 KIZITO??? It is One Zambia ONE NATION that is our strength and our values as a nation, we have many languages but we understand one another. Local means Zambian language?? Zambian language means any Zambian language a group / community can speak and understand one another. We are such a blessed country for we don’t have issues like our neighbors. Ndebele?? Shona?? Etc.

Coming to Clifford, the boy made a mistake but let’s forgive him. Young cliff come on TV apologize and cry to show you are sorry?? You missed the cup & MEDAL Young boy?? Too bad.

  14. #1 What makes you think Renard owed Zambia an apology for him to be forgiven? He has a career and may move wherever he wants to in order to further it or get better rewards. Whether a coach decides to stick around and see out his contract or he chooses to terminate it before it lapses is his individual decision. As for the forgiveness of Clifford, chances are he has been forgiven. But remember, good coaches are good psychologists too and I have every reason to believe that Herve understands Clifford’s personality more than any Zambian soccer fan does. If it was a club situation, the boy would have been sold. But at national level, the only option is banishment!!

    • Cliford said he was with felix but he,(FELIX) was forgiven. what sin did clifford commit that he can not be forgiven by the coach on this earth? clifford is a human being he has been punished enough. Renard said he will not alow cliff to play 4 zambia as long as he (Rena) is the zambian coach.

  15. #10 Kizito

Bemba is a medium of communication like English. You don’t have to be Bemba to speak it. In fact a Bemba, or Tonga or lozi or Luvale or Ngoni should be proud if they can speak more languages than their mother tongue. That’s the way the world goes.

Bemba has become a “local” language, a street language not necessarily for Bembas. Same as English. Here we are on this blog communicating in English. It is our “local” or street language. In fact people who speak Bemba dont even think tribal. It’s just a language.

    • Dude what street language I just nod my head whenever a Kaponya starts yapping in Bemba cant understand a word am Lozi my girl Bemba though Nyanja is the one true street languague EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS SOME NYANJA!!!

  16. Kizito and the rest; Bemba is mostly the medium of communication in football, most CB and Lusaka players speak and understand

  17. Kizito, you must either be born outside Zambia or you left Zambia ages ago or you are just one of those dander heads that always wanna pull out the tribe “card” on any issue!!! All those boys speak Bemba. The simple reason for this is that all of them have played their football either on the Copperbelt, Lusaka or Kabwe. Don’t even make this about tribalism because in these cosmopolitan areas of Zambia, more people have simply adapted to speaking Bemba over the years. It’s a well known fact that it is arguably the easiest of the Zambian languages to learn and is more widely spoken than any of the other indigenous languages

    • Me too, I speak it, by the way you can go anywhere in Zambia, people either speak bemba or nyanja in any province. How lovely?? what a country. I love that.

    • I mean if we are able to communicate thats better. Now this I.D.I.O.T called Kizito want to bring tribe honestly in this era!! its a shame!

  18. Isn’t there any other players that Herve Renard can be considering for a call up rather than focusing on one ill disciplined player? come on people. A team should be bigger than one player and Herve Renard has set an example for anyone thinking they can do as they wish while representing nation. Lets focus on the football and forget the politics. Clifford was given a chance and he blew it. Herve made a decision and that’s final. :)>-

    • IWE are you a witch? why being so hard hearted?? learn to forgive and forget. kuti waipaya?? it’s just football nothing else. leave the boy alone.

    • This is way our country is so behind and backwards we love clinging on past reputation. Surely Clifford is not the only player in the country or abroad that can player football. They coach has the right to select whatever players he likes coz is job is always on the line. No one is gonna force Herve Renard to player Clifford Mulenga so i don’t see the point in this petition and in all honest we won the Afcon without him. After the fiasco Clifford should have come out and apologised in public or in the media but he knew that small minded people will advocate for him coz they can’t see the bigger picture.

  19. Indiscipline should never be condoned by these soccer fans. Coach was right on the money when he booted out misfits, regardless of their fluid skills. It would take just one very skilled but stupid punk to loose to the AFCON, would you rather have that than booting him out and then grab the cup like they did?

  20. by local he means a language understood by all teammates why do u have to bring up tribalism mwebantu ubututu bwekabweka fye ati satanism we ndoshi niwe because God loves everyon despite tribe, gro up chi kamwamba iwe.

  21. if you are in an exam room you are expected not to make noise but if you make noise distubing your frends you will be cheased in the exam room and not to be forgiven dont excise your fellar to your frends mulenga did excatly the same period,

  22. This article Yanzuna, can read true feelings of Chipolopolo supports. Go on Zambians express yourselves but let us not throw our young brother in the ditch, he needs us to correct him. Who among all you bloggers?? Never made a mistake in life?? Bambi mwalipela / Ukupula amafumo at young age?? LET’S LOOK AT WHAT WE HAVE DONE AND REFLECT. Coach can go but Clifford remains Zambian. Not that we are happy with what he did?? But control him to walk in the right path. GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY and all ZAMBIANS..I have forgiven RB for all he has done. I pray for him as our parent and former leader who will play a major role in helping we young Zambians, develop our country. AMEN

    • We won the Afcon and people are still complaining..smh, If Herve had forgiven Clifford and included him in his starting 11 and we lost the small people would be calling for the coach’s head saying why did he include a disobedient player in the team…let the coach do his job coz if we keep winning his job is safe but we keep getting a string of bad results his job is in jeopardy. So let him do his job i mean he doesn’t come to your workplace and tell you what to do /:)

  23. Mwanza said, “team captain Katongo together with other FAZ officials will take the trophy to all the provincial centres.”
My advise to Katongo: let the FAZ officials take the trophy round the provincial centres while you concentrate on keeping yourself fit for when your football season starts again. I am very certain you don’t want to be a one-race pony. Run around with these guys, they will feed you KFC before you know it, you are bigger than Mbesuma. The next AFCON is only next year. You won this one now focus on the next. In short, Go home to China and get back to work. The same people singing praises for you today, will not even look at you if you come back empty handed, from South Africa next year. Get back to work!

  24. Iyee…. Hipolopolo, kipolopolo, vipolopolo…… Sing in your language. Since Zed has gone tribal now. Muchinga was divided…HH said they want to channel resources into MCS region. Now that he has turned to Southern, HH is saying sata wants to change the character of Southerners by making them speak another language! So the resources reason doesnt hold in Southern. People watch out, lest you be misled. HH no good. No direction. let him stick to business and make more billions so he can be at K80bn the next time he declares his riches at the high court!!!

  25. We won the Afcon and people are still complaining..smh, If Herve had forgiven Clifford and included him in his starting 11 and we lost the small people would be calling for the coach’s head saying why did he include a disobedient player in the team…let the coach do his job coz if we keep winning his job is safe but we keep getting a string of bad results his job is in jeopardy. So let him do his job i mean he doesn’t come to your workplace and tell you what to do /:)

  26. discipline is important in a team. Mulenga now has more time to drink, which is what he wanted, right? Knucklehead.

  27. Anyone wishing to disturb this team ,mwafwa fye.Touch my captain n see,my team ,may coach, may FAZ and my Kalu .Ninshi ni mwapaya baisa.C/belt says Kalu stays. Its that simple.Action with results.Anyone campagning against ,u will regret

  28. # 10 amano mumutwe kwati tamwaba sana don’t bring the team into disrepute language here is not a factor if you speak the language the majority do not understand in Zambia that’s your own INDABA and its simple just learn it.Clifford is a bad boy if he can humble himself that’s well and good and i’m pretty sure he can be considered in future. But the problem is the so called Pastor Peter Makembo it seems he is the mouth piece for Clifford and most of us CHIPOLOPOLO fans we do not like Peter Makembo and by the way he is from which Ministry?,ba Makembo i’m sure mula jobapo apa muleko chimfulunganya 2014 World Cup is just at the door step GO GREAT KALU GO.

  29. NO.10, Kizito, you have got an inferiority complex, why the hate for Katongo? There is no need to bring the tribal issue in this topic. Bemba is the most common and understood language in our country but that does not mean that it is superior to other languages. All those non bemba soccer players you mentioned were born on the copperbelt or Lusaka or Kabwe bred and I can tell you non of them even speak their tribal languages.

  30. Don chi chi thanks for the message?? I hear your point please note that the word coach means?? To train, teach; instruct etc., it is leadership? / And leaders never tire? We need our coach to correct the boy were he went wrong. Not just ban to play as long as he is coach. The statement was too harsh?? He is the best person to correct these boys, FYI even Mbesuma had dodged together with Clifford. Forgiveness forgiveness forgiveness Fwema Zambians.

    • Ok but how do you forgive someone who hasn’t apologised? come on we all believe in God’s teachings but as a father when you child does something wrong and doesn’t apologise it shows disobedience….its hard to forgive someone who’s not sorry

  31. Renard and Kalusha.

Why are you refusing to forgive the boy? Renard ditched Zambia and went to Angola. We have forgiven him and now he has a job with us. Let Clifford be forgiven too.

    • Renard did not need forgiveness! He made a personal career choice that no one shud say we forgave him. He is desciplined and forcused! You will not compare his leaving for angola with wat the boy clifford did. Clifford has shown a lack of disciplne and forcus. he is a bad influence on others. But who am i to judge him, i dont even know him. The coach and his team mates know him better and am sure the decision is for the best interest of the team. What difference does losing one indisciplined team member make? Leaves a better team behind! dont let clifford grow even bigger headed by bringing this forgiveness issue because it does not teach anyone anything! Thats why sinners are always sinning.

  32. Please note that one can forgive somebody while punitive measures still stand. Clifford could have been forgiven but does not to deserve to be in the national team because he didn’t show any remorse for his indiscipline. He should not be in the national team because he’s a very bad seed and can contaminate the well behaved players who are christians.

  33. I was just telling you about the tribe of your players… This is the reason you won. It is good now that you select players on merit not only from DONT KUBEBA tribe… If i remember in 1990, the goal Abedi Pele scored against Zambia and late Efford Chabala in goal….it pained me alot because  chabala was finished man to represent us. Now you have seen for yourself, the strike force, defence and in goal, where are they coming from…!! Mayuka’s grand mother said, I can’t believe Mayuka now is much talked player in Zambia…he is from the valley Tonga…!!

  34. Comming to Clifford Mulenga, he has learnt a lesson even though it is had as he is coming from DONT KUBEBA tribe who are problem in our country..!!! Any waay the coach must forgive this kaponya boy.!!

  35. why should Katongo defend the coach..?let Renard come out n tell us himself..who’s going to pay for the expenses for taking trophy round..?

  36. Can someone please follow up this data just received;

1 Has the National Team been paid the promised bonus for winning the AFCON CUP? In addition state how much exactly the boys have been paid. Word has it they were offered $20,000/- instead of the promised $59,000 (K300,000,000) each prompting a walk out leading to the postponement of the Gabon game next week.

2 Word also has it that the K1 billion donated by MTN to FAZ has been chewed amongst Executive Committee members.

  37. Ukutumpa Kizito #10! Why are you saying Katongo’s language amafu you? Just bringing divisions for nothing! Why are you guys full of hatred? Most of these players have lived on the CB aand played in the league where one language is spoken! Did he hint to you that he was being tribalistic? ukutumpa u! Christopher the captain is more mature than you and you should be ashamed of yourself!

  38. Kizito is just expressing himself, this is a medium for expression and we should all respect that even if we don’t agree with each other’s opinions. some opinion on the blog asks him to be forgiven (Clifford), I thought he had a fall out with the manager previously, so I should think he was forgiven when included in the squad for the tournament and then let him down again, so it is to expected when the coach draws a line and cuts ties with him due to his arrogance.

  39. Clifford Mulenga is not bigger than football. He deserves what he got. He can only be recalled to the team if he still fits in the coach’s plans. Indiscipline should not be tolerated. It is good that Zambia has an expatriate coach otherwise there would have been a lot of wako ni wako and tribalism in the selection of the team. Zambians have reached a level where they are not ashamed of tribalism and nepotism. I guess they have learned from the best – the kaponyas in ….

  40. I am talking about tribe because you are insulting me… Any way tell Katongo to get in sharp other than talking about past glory. He must start training for AFrican Cup 2013 and defend instead of talking like his uncle  who is at coridors of the state house..!!! it is time to work not campaigning..DONT KUBEBA will come later again…!!

  41. ok kizito u r a fool. do not abuse the social media by offloading your stupidity, now u r making me start disciplining you. I must congratulate all zambians and other nationality who spend time to comment and bring out sense to build and correct one another, for a better zambia. now people of God forgive me, to those who are fond of bringing dumbness and mediocrity can you grow up and start bringing out sensible arguments especially kizito. change mwana. we want constructive criticizm not ma rubish ok kizito b a good boy now, we love u.

  42. kizito you invited insults yourself. if u were sober upstairs no body would write what they are writing. Now do not fight with katongo at his age he is much more worth than you, as i speak he has pocked more than $200, 0000, dont be jealousy come on what has the guy done wrong to u kanshi.

  43. Even you who is cheating us that you are canada, when you languishing in Mulenga compaund in Kitwe you have started insulting me. God bless you kaponya….I was correcting when some of you were saying MAYUKA is a Bemba..when was that? !! I said NO., because when he was born in 1990, I am the one who went home to tell the elders that Emmanuel is born. I will never lose sleep over my nephew. You what to sell him to these DONT KUBEBA staines.

  44. there is no team without discipline.hence HR is rihgt bcoz other team members will learn a reason out of it including clifford himself.the best him is just to apologise and he wont lose anything.after all its for his own good.otherwise it will be the end of his career and wii be destined to suffering

  45. Everywhere in the world of soccer every good coach discipline players found wanting either good or bad player. the key is to have well disciplined players who can win games and show good results and thats the job of coaching.Or else a team which lack discipline cant win games and just one indiscipline player has a potential to influence other good players, just like Clifford did, so what coach Renard H did was good for the team and nation to expell clifford.infact players who lack discipline finish fast than disciplined players. EG Tevez no market for him, just to apologise and stay at Man city coz No any other teams want him coz of his indiscipline he showed at Man city.

  46. We are now known and need to focus on training and improving the next nations cup is soon and the world cup qualifiers are soon. Use the money being spent on touring for training or even on our junior teams. God Bless!

  47. Ifipumbu (51) see color & ethnicity first instead of talent and humanity hence the shallowness in thinking. The Efford factor is even being brought into disrepute when there is not need to! We all watched that game and Abedi Pele was a great player amafu! Manix played for Zambia and for Nkana even at an advanced age and many players do including Roger Miller iwe ubututu! It has nothing to do with ethnicity! In fact, football in Zambia (selection to the national team) has been played based on players’s skills at every moment please never inject your short-sightedness divisions into the equation.

  48. you only forgive a person who asks for forgiveness. If he won’t don’t forgive. Even God forgives us only when we ask for forgiveness

  49. Renard forgive the boy, am sure that, he has learned a lesson. My congrats for the trophy, keep on with the same spirit guys we love you and we’ll always support you.

  50. I am talking about DON’T KUBEBA tribe because they are thieves in Zambia….. perhaps you do not know you blogers here..!! Any way GO Zambia Go Zambia…!!!

  51. Mwebantu is Clifford the only player in Zambia?Cant we honestly do without him.Let HR do his job.Does he tell you how to do your jobs.Ghana came out 4th becoz of indispline not that Mali was better than them on that day.VIVA Kalu VIVA HR VIVA Chipolopolo

  52. Mwebantu is Clifford the only player in Zambia?Cant we honestly do without him.Let HR do his job.Does he tell you how to do your jobs.Ghana came out 4th becoz of indispline not that Mali was better than them on that day.

  53. kwena kizito ulichipuba. you are jst like your brother who politicised the issue of the players celebrating the donchi kubeba way. you pipo stink tribalism and see tribe in all u do. you can even tell the tribe of a person jst by the ………he leaves in the toilet! grow up coz you die miserable!

  54. # 58 before you know it this manyukunyuku boy will start accusing CAF for bestoring 1988 to someone because of shallowness in ukutontonkanya, ubungw.

  55. I notice how some people have managed to generate a pointless quarrel here more suitable for the chimbuzu (toilet) than a soccer thread. Surely, it must be possible to comment on the topic at hand without using words like “tribal”, “kaponya” or “satan”. Do these words have anything in common with sports? The answer is NO!

  56. Zambian players have failed to break into competive leagues in Europe largely on account of poor discipline and not lack of skill. Look at how Mbesuma wasted his chance at Porstmouth. HR is very right and I commend him. Players who will assimilate his DISCIPLINE will succeed where we have seen others have fail. I call for toatal personal discipline to work as a expatriate in Europe.

  57. #10 and 39:

@Kizito, really, are you that shallow to get hang up on this tribal drivel you are spewing here? Please know that the football reputation and history that Zambia has built up over many decades has been the work of so may people from all tribes in Zambia. Get over yourself and be of use to the conversation at hand, you moron!

I guess if the man heading FAZ now was named Hinkalusha or Hambwalya, you would be claiming that Zambia won the AFCON cup because “himupati waku Bwengwa” is in charge, right? What is the point of all this tribal garbage you are peddling on this thread?

  58. #62 Nine Chale,
It is quite sad how some people will resort to name-calling and insults whenever others express views different from theirs. In fact we have seen some very obscene insults on these blogs, much worse than what you have listed. Lusaka Times have in the past tried to censor and delete offensive words but it now seems they have given up. What can be done?

    • even your profilename is an insult. surely u are just as good as kizito. am bemba but i know that my tribesmen look down on tongas and they deny it vehemently. football is supposed to unite us in lusaka we dnt care which language u speak bt on the cbelt they worry more abt wether u speak bemba or not. football selection shud be based on merit and am sure it is in zambia. we all football lovers and this current team will go places, bt trhery have to be disciplined and cliford should the perfect example for this era of football in our

  59. Forgiveness must start with Clifford, for HR to have forgiven the others I believe he was going to have forgiven the young man had he also done the same.Mbesuma was naughty at some point but later showed remorse and was forgiven.Tevezi asked for forgiveness why shouldn’t Mulenga do the same. Infact fans must be calling for Mulenga to apologize.

  60. Renard left without saying goodbye when we gave him his biggest test on the continent-HEAD COACH…he deserted us…whatever was the problem we had a right to know, we pay him as Zambians (Faz should have also immediately explained)..Anyway, we accepted him back and he showed his strengths and we beat Africa-there is a lession here, Mulenga is a bigger man now…he needs a second chance-he will come back stronger, his playing career is limited and if he is good enough he should be shown mercy…just like Renard was allowed back-i believe the coach should learn more about cultural differences-Ubantu is big in Zambia, we dont express anger for life (remember the push on Davis Nkausu during the final game by Renard)…lets ask Davis how he feels…i bet he has moved on! Come coach…

    • If you look at that video carefully HR did not hit Davies but tapped him because he was looking elsewhere while the coach was talking. Learn to see things for yourself instead of just taking what some commentator is saying. What do you say about the coach lifting Joseph Musonda? Was that bad too? Problems with some of your brains is they filter out all good things a person does and looks at the negative things only. I think you need a brain transplant. Sorry to say and no offense.

  61. People to be a christian nation doesn’t mean we shud be indiscipline. We cant forgive somebody who apologize via Facebook.whats that rubbish? the guy is suppose to go on national TV.
Think, dont compromise on principles that lead to success just in the name of forgiveness. that is why most blacks are still poor today. we always compromise principles. get out mulenga get out complainers.

  62. Has Clifford acknowledged his wrong and is he willing to apologize to the coach? If not he might cause more problems for the team in the future. Herve Renard can forgive the player but will he be a good member of the team once he is brought back?

  63. There are consequences to our actions and the decisions we make, forgiveness is another story, eg wen u steal and ask the judge for forgiveness, u are forgiven but u have to face the consequences such as jail time

  64. Guys anybody who knows sports, knows that in that business its always WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY. This expelling a guy permanantly is a little too severe in my opinion and if the team doesnt do well going foward, which can happen since its a game of inches, this question will be brought up many times. So the best thing is not to close the door on a player because you might need him later…

  65. It was very childlish of the culprits to have breached the rule in the face of the important games which lay ahead. Sometimes, it is good to make an example of one person. To his credit, Cliffford Mulenga has maintained a dignified silence. I hope he maintains the stance. Who knows, the door may just re open for him to re join the team. Finally, it is my prayer that he was also given a medal and the cash that went to his friends.

  66. hi, lusakatimes likes my comments because I tell the truth……it is you who suppose to be banned blogging here…Go zambia…Go zambia….

  67. Kizito your coments displays your level of maturity and ignorant you are towards society, from the look of things you are a very unfortunate person in life there by trin to hook others in your misfortunes,we rebuke it.be a man and as you read now, plis reflect on your past mistakes and begin to think as the man and join us in the race, sory age is cuching up with you,be a man now and contribute positively *****…

  68. The coach does not want the guy. It is that simple. In life we should take responsibility for our actions. The guy was indisciplined and so he must bite the bullet. In the same way, we voted in a bunch of Kaponyas in govt. We must learn to live with Kambwili, stealing of districts, divisions and poor appointments of govt officials. It is about taking responsibility for our actions

  69. FYI Clifford is inherently indisciplined. On several occassions he has been punished by his current and former clubs for breaking curfew, missing training sessions etc.

Clifford is about 25years old. At that age (in football terms) he is virtually a veteran of the game and should clearly know the importance of discipline.

Some where in the bible God teaches that if a tree meant to bear good fruit bears bad fruit, cut it down and burn it.

    Bravo Renard

  70. It’s such a shame that we have mindless people like Kizito.I have always defended Zambia on tribal marginalisations and to think such people still exist in Zambia is not only disgusting…
We are not all Bembas but having grown up on the CB we speak the language.I would say that the CB determines much of the political senario in Zambia because people are now only open minded but forward thinking.
I am sure the likes of Kizito come from tunnel minded backward people who will never come out of their shell. When he watched football all he could see was a tribe.

    • Look what disaster CB’s “forward thinking” has brought to Zambia – scum in State House. Speak for yourself, fo0l!

  71. mr kizito, you bring shame on all of us when you insist that we see people thruogh the tribal lenses. you broke my heart when you mentioned that you were an adult in 1990 and up to now you are still this behind? i feel sorry for you. please grow up and see life for what it is and not as you are. a tribalist. dont kubeba to me has now become a victory song which even RB has embraced. come out of the caves. this is 2012 and not 1220BC!!

  72. BRAVO RENARD! U hav shown this midget minded player by the name of Clifford Mulenga that you are the boss! I remember that saga of him and that prostitue mampi camping together at Ndeke hotel! The boy is rotten to the core! We DONT NEED HIS SERVICES ANYNMORE.

  73. @Kizito, ur a very backward dimwit, u hav already seen tribalism, my dear mayuka is from northwestern and mbesuma is from northern, mbola is from luapula

  74. Field Marshal Katongo, well said sir.  Big up to you and Renard and all the boys in the team.  We don’t need Mulenga the proud fool.  He can play for Zambia after Renard retires and Zambia goes back to losing.
