The ministry of sport has backtracked on its earlier endorsement of Kalusha Bwalya, as its preferred candidate to continue at the helm of the country’s soccer governing body, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

Director of sports in the ministry running sports, Bernard Nakachinda contends that his ministry has not endorsed any one so far ahead of the FAZ elective council meeting to be held at the end of the month.
Mr. Nakachinda says such a decision by the Government would disadvantage other aspiring candidates.

He has since called for a harmony among the stakeholders ahead of the meeting.

He made the clarification on a MUVI TV’s special Youth Program.

Recently, Nakachinda stated that his ministry would love to see Kalusha Bwalya continue as FAZ president so that he could lead Zambia to the world cup.

Meanwhile, Football Association Of Zambia (FAZ) officials shunned Sunday’s thanks giving service at Lusaka’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

Officials from the three Church mother bodies were left wondering on the whereabouts of FAZ officials when called upon to deliver a speech.

However, their absence did not matter, as the program proceeded as planned.

The thanksgiving service was organized to thank God for the AFCON trophy which the Chipolopolo Boys won after beating Ivory Coast 8 – 7 on penalties.

  1. Let the FAZ delegates vote for their preferred candidates without Govt interference. FIFA has little tolerance for such meddling. May the best candidate win. I personally like Kalu but he needs to engage other stakeholders better and ensure greater financial transparency at Football House.

  2. Once government makes its choice clear, there is no backtracking. Kalu will win, but please, improve the local league and encourage youngsters!

  3. materialists always blive there is no God bt us idealists blive God is there. Jst watch zambia ghana & final games again,u will see de hand of God.zambi-ghana de boys lost de game psycologicaly b4 de game bt luk de hand of God of wat it did. Idealism power!!!

  4. Grz or no grz its kalu the great all the way to world cup 2014. Brazile here we come. We are are doing our first ever in everything this year.

  5. Great Kalu does not need ministers or directors to win the FAZ presidency. He will win anyway, with or without GRZ blessings.

  6. And who said every Zambian goes to fake churches where hypocrisy is the order of the day? Some Zambians are Muslims while others like me worship our own African spirits and Gods. So no big deal about cathedrals. And while you are at it, leave God out of our victory. We worked hard for it. That is all.

  7. Thanks giving…. it was also depends on which Church is organizing, and yes keep God away from silly Football, do they think God can be Zambian or what?

  8. The problem I have with Kalu is that he is immature, disrespectful to other people and he is allergic to financial accountability. We want a FAZ president who is transparent in his food dealings

  9. Just leave Kalu alone. He has managed FAZ better than most of you who have done management and business courses. Learn to appreciate you chaps. The Director should never comment on football as he is there because he is a political cadre.

  10. May the best man win…its does not matter whether its Kulu or whoever. What pipo need is good governance and accountability. # 12 i partly agree with your on

  11. Yes God had a hand in Zambia winning AFCON you could even see the players praying. Those penalt misses by Ghana and Ivory cost say it all. In case that was the prophessy by TBJoshua. Even sunzu was praying during that crucial penalt.Anyway spiritual matters are foolishness to those perishing cos they’re blinded by the evil one. IT WAS WRONG FOR FAZ NOT TO ATTEND THE thanksgiving service,They must tell us why??? and apologise and ask for God’s forguveness.

  12. Kalu has over lived. let him now go and contest at CAF or FIFA. He should leave the FAZ presidency to another person.

  13. Awe Mukwai The people who ascribe everything to God and Satan do so because they want to escape responsibility. Satan tempts them each time they defile someone. God brings luck each time their boss promotes them.
Life is about what you do not what someone else makes you do. If God had to intervene in football matches why wouldn’t he intervene when Israel is bombing hapless little 3 year old Palestinians? Make the Israeli bombs fail to detonate if they are aimed at babies-you know?
If God wanted Zambia to win why didn’t he want Ivory Coast to win? If God wanted Zambia to win what was the use of Christopher Katongo and the other lads turning up at the stadiums. They should have stayed in the hotels and still would have won. People, use the brains that you have wisely and intelligently

  14. #15 Mary The whole of Zambia was asked to pray for our team to beat Morocco during the World Cup 1994 qualification game but Morocco still won. I’m sure you could see the Ghanaian players praying when they lost to Zambia. So just because we could see the players praying this time doesnt mean God has now intervened. What about then?

  15. There is no atheist in the fox’s den. No need to beat each other over religious preferences. There is a day of reckoning for everyone. We are spirits, energy beings. We live on. If the universe is eternal, so are we.

  16. the winning of the cup was both for the hard work of the Zambian players and also the blessing hand of our almighty. those who did not attend the thanks giving mass should consider themselves to have a big problem and they should ask God for their forgiveness.
