President Michael Sata has invited Chinese investors to explore various areas of investment in the country. This was during a closed-door meeting at State House today, when he met a 14- member delegation from Beijing led by Mr Luo Tao, the General Manager of China Non-ferrous Metal Mining Company (CNMC) group.

According to a press release from State House, Mr Luo assured the Head of State who was flanked by Republican Vice-President Dr Guy Scott, that CNMC was confident of its investment in Zambia because President Sata commands a strong and ambitious team.

He said CNMC plans to accelerate its investment in Zambia.

“The US$400 million Mulyashi mining project in Luanshya will commence production by the end of this month. And our next project is the US$800 million South East Ore body at Chambishi mines. This is the plan of our projects in the near future,” Mr Luo said.

Mr Luo described President Sata as a kind man who is focussed on job creation and economic development of the country.

“Employment and economic development of Zambia is also a responsibility of Chinese investors here. I promise that we will adhere to Zambian laws and do what we are required to do,” he said.

In response, President Sata recognized the important role Chinese investment was playing in the country.

“The investment has benefitted both Zambia and China. Therefore, every expansion in investment should be for the mutual benefit of the two countries and its people,” the President said.

“I would encourage you to bring more Chinese investors to invest in various areas of investment in the country especially mineral exploration. We would also like you to get involved in agriculture, textile and many other sectors.”

  1. Resource extraction based investment. Need more in Agro/tourism/Education(not scholarships) and other sectors. Not just taking resources to China.

  2. Presido Sata is a good man. No had feelings against chief justice for having refused a hand shake.

  3. Yes Chinese come and invest in this country of plenty of resources coz its people a very lazy, they can’t invest themselves. Also provide cheap labour and pay them just enough to manage to buy Tujilijili at the end of the day. Just know that you are above the law and no law applies to you, so treat them like animals and they will do absolutely nothing to you. Treat them like Niggars coz they have always been dull Niggars to you. Including the Niggar Head to state, just give him money and your cheap suits and he will dance to your tune.

  4. Man of lies at work. In day like chinese are exploiters and gonga suppliers. At night, they are good friends who deliver brief cases of fake Dollars

  5. Cobby should be encouraging more joint ventures and local directorship in companies that are setting up here. Government should put in place affirmative laws related to development so that indigenous Zambians are not forever workers serving foreign companies. The government ought to be promoting locals to play major roles in the economy.

  6. Whilst investments are welcome, there should be beneficial to Zambians. BTW what is our strategy regarding Chinese investments as acountry, what are we really in it for. You’ll be shocked to find anyone who has an idea. Before you invite someone to lease your farm, ensure that there are direct benefits for you and your children. Otherwise leave the land fallow for next season.

  7. These are the same infestors you were insulting diring your campaigns and now you are ready to go bed with.

  8. # Chinese Proverb :
Build a road to a place and development shall follow the road

    # Luapula Kwamununga proverb :

Lets build an aircraft of a bottletop with a run way on a rubbish heap and blood for fuel.

    # Rest of Zambia’s reply to the proverbs above :)

    1) build a road how many tea breaks before 9 am?
    2) To the Mununga proverb What! mwendoshi mwe lol

  9. Everyone in this global economy is yearning for Chinese investment. Why shouldn’t we. Where do we expect to get the capital for all the capital intensive projects needed by mother Zed? The IMF? Is it the China man’s fault if our system is corrupt? Is it the China man’s responsibility to enforce law in our land? Fellow Zambian’s ill treat fellow Zambians. The lowest paying employers in Zambia are Zambians. Zambians pay their maids, gardeners, shop assistants, accounts clerks, etc slave wages but its the China man who gets the bad label; very hypocritical. Even the so called Gerabos reputed to be wealthy pay no better wages.

  10. In the next 50 years blacks Zambia will have no trace left for them , mind you  are  the fewest in population in Africa. So you should be careful how you open up , once the Chinese popularize Zambia , don’t think you will chase them like the way the Zimbabweans did with whites ….the Chinese will soon became a superpower and no country will protect u. You are giving up your birth right …..you will cry …and SATA and his Friends will have long gone in the grave. So don’t give them free ride to sell your Country. You would rather be  in undeveloped and your own country than to have non.

    • i predicted what you’re pointing out when the first group of chinese entered the country and started buying land, now they are tens of thousands of them in Zambia alone very soon Zambians will be a minority in their own country, they should start “praying” that they wont turn to slaves on their own soil.

  11. LOOK WHO’S KISSING THE CHINESE A$$!!!! LETS HEAR FROM YOU PF A$$ KISSERS ON THIS BLOG …. GO LEARN MANDRIN NOW, YOUR PRESIDENT HAS DONE EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE TO WHAT HE PROMISED YOU.

  12. HAVE YOU NOTICED ANY PHOTO WITH THE PRESIDENT HES ALWAYS LOOKING AWAY … IS IT THAT HE’S UNCOMFORTABLE OR THE CAMERAMEN HAVE NO TIMING

    • you are very right. i have noticed this too. The other day he was greeting someone during womens day commemorations and he was looking away. He could be uncomfortable as you state

  13. Donch Kubauza….lol!!! Its didnt take long before he was grovelling in front of the people he insulted so much.

  14. Sata has now come to realize that the Chinese are here to stay and we just need to know how to live with them. Soon, we will have China towns on the Copperbelt. But this can be prevented if we put it laws that forces every Chinese to learn to speak English and not to live in one area all of them.
