My problem with these shows is that they promote a selfishness, an individualism, where each person will do whatever it takes to get the most attention. Decency and discretion are vices on the show, and people behave worse than animals just to get more screen time. It’s artificial, and also, it’s a waste of time. I understand people watch television to unwind, for pleasure, but the pursuit of mindless pleasure becomes addictive and cheapening, and the culture is coarsened.
