Former Chibombo distict commissioner Barnabas Musopelo tries to talk to his supporters after he was removed at Chobombo district commissioner.

Some Patriotic front (PF) carders in Chibombo district have warned President Michael Sata and adamant party secretary General Wynter Kabimba that they will ditch the ruling pary for the opposition if their district chairman Barnabas Musopelo is not re-instated as district Commissioner (DC).

The cadres warned that they worked hard to take Mr Sata to State House, but the man has changed colours now that he is the President. The cadres have complained that Mr Sata is a dictator who does not want to listen to their advise regarding matters at the grassroot level.

Mr Musopelo, who was recently appointed DC for Chibombo was fired and replaced by Ferdinand Chipindi.

Kabwe district commissioner Patrick Chishala tried to officiate at the hand over ceremony, but confusion ensued when the cadres openly refused to let Musopelo vacate office.

They shouted and jeered President Sata, even if he was not present. They want the president to rescind his decision

There was confusion at the district administrative offices when carders protested against the removal of Musopelo and the thin police presence failed to maintain law and order.

Musopelo openly refused vacate the office for Chipindi demanding for a dismissal letter from the President Sata.

He claimed to have an appointment letter from cabinet office and saw no reason to leave the office and maintained he was DC for Chibombo.

‘Chipindi has been appointed DC for Chibombo and I have been appointed for the same position we both have letters of appointment but if chipindi is the one coming in, where is the letter to revoke my appointment, if it is there I have no problem he will come in,’ said Musopelo.

But Chishala pleaded with Musopelo to follow instructions from the Permanent Secretary because his actions amounted to insubordination but Musopelo who resisted and even refused to travel to Kabwe to meet the Permanent Secretary, who he said was at the centre of the confusion.

“I was mistreated by the permanent secretary on Friday last week,” he said.

The matter was resolved after Wynter Kabimba counselled Musopelo theorugh a mobile telephone call.

Musopelo later gave in and welcomed Chishala as new DC. He pledged to work with the new DC saying Chishal was was appointed strategically to ensure that PF and president Sata won the 2016 general elections.

The PF carders who threatened to resign include Robby Malindima, Keembe constituency treasurer and Isaac Ndongo Katuba constituency chairperson.

The duo said Musopelo was a hard working senior cadre and his departure will force them to join the opposition United Party for National Development.

The cadres refused to hear from Musopelo in anger after he tried to plead with them. They alleged that Chindi was a UPND stooge.

They could not understand what transpired to convince mr. musopelo agree to step down because they did not expect him to announce that he was leaving the office for chipindi.

Ndongo said cadres will defect to UPND because PF was not considerate adding Musopelo was the rightful person to for the position of Chibombo DC.

“We cannot work with UPND. In Katuba constituency there is Dr Chikusu who is MMD and he was given a ministerial position, today we are given a UPND man as DC, the whole district now is given to the opposition, where are we as PF, this is not fair,’ he said.

They appealed to president Sata to listen to the people on the ground and rescind the decision for the sake of the party.

Meanwhile, some headmen from Chibombo district, gathered in Kabwe to try and protest the removal of Musopelo from the position of Chibombo DC.

Headmen Kampekete and headmen Kambobe who spoke on behalf other headmen, said they were shocked at the dismissal of Musopelo.

The headmen were disappointed that this had happened when they were plotting to meet President Sata to congratulate him for appointing Musopeplo as DCfor Chibombo because he (Musopelo) hard working and also a senior headman who could mobilise people easily in the district.

“Musopelo, was once chairperson for all headmen in chief liteta and the way he handled matters was marvelous that is why we thought he was the right person to be in that office. But unfortunately some people saw things differently,’ said headman Kampekete.

“He was also in MMD, he quit and became provincial chairperson for UPND where he also failed to perform and now he is brought as DC, we wonder if he will perform,’ said headman Kambobe.

  1. Regardless of which party when ever they say carders people in the pics always look like call boys..dont we have doctors, lawyers engineers who are carders coz i have never seen anyone who looks like one in these pics they put up

  2. Spot on Exhaust Blown Diffuser, never have I seen an intellect Carder shown in most of these fracas even the outgoing DC looks a Carder to me. Why have we let this Country be fostered by Marketers and the like? No wonder our politics is on a peasant arrangement!

    • How can you expect an ice cream to rise in the middle of a sewage pond?  The majority wins, including putting their own into State House.

  3. @exhaust…you will never find an intellectual as a cadre..it commands idiocity for one to be a cadre and we dont agree with such behaviour..it is inconsistent with what we stand for.

  4. #1,2,3 am ashamed of you….. bring all so called intellectuals let’s see if the can vote anyone in office…..the majority Zambians are poor can’t afford the education you have acquired so stop insulting them and you expect to be leaders shame….. don’t insult a crocodile while your legs are still in water….Call boys make Zambia, poor people make Zambia…. the so called intellectuals become self-centered, corrupt, denouncing even where they came from others are in diaspora mind what you say.

    • Spot on Zero Boyz. The problem with ba “some of us” is that they cannot believe they have left poverty; and that no one can ever manage what they have done, so they are “special”. Just look at how they cry foul all the times at Zambia watch dog; they keep calling everyone Kaponya not knowing that the people behind PF success made a great strategy to work with the majority, “call boys”. They have read “strategic management”; they cannot apply it in anyway. Real educated people would never look down on anyone; in fact they would be first to understand real issues. They are the biggest let down. They think we are not educated, yet we are more educated than them. Well said boss.

    • You dont get the point!! my question is why always such looking people in pics when they say cadres?? No-wander you are donating fuel to Malawi and make a fuel crisis in the country coz such people end up in government. Life is about tomorrow and less about now or today but remember today sets a foundation for tomorrow

    • @5 and 5.1, you have missed the Exhaust Blown Diffuser’s point. Don’t be naive, the intellectuals have always been in charge of our country and use the ‘cadres’ to get their way. Intellectuals won the country’s independence…intellectuals engineered the voting out out of KK, intellectuals engineered the voting in of Sata…using the clueless so called ‘cadres. Zambian intellectuals are well above the national poverty line. The intellectuals are our own version of the Illuminati!

  5. We have allowed our country to be ruled by carders because we who have some level of education don’t want to join politics.
Let us wake up and set an example to these carders

  6. It just shows the type of people who are leading the country to destruction. Zambia can do better thab this. I am coming home !!!

  7. #4 when it suits you its okay for cadres to hold office. I thought this was the main complaint with MMD. what then is the difference here???

  8. In a sewage pond, it is the biggest turd that rises to the top.  You cannot expect intellectuals to rule Zambia because they are so few.  Cadres will vote for each other.  As they say: “You will eat your degrees”!

  9. Intellectuals are well above the national poverty line. The intellectuals are our own version of the Illuminati! Been one I know.

  10. Even during the elections I saw most of the so called ‘intellectuals’ busy blogging on this forum when the cadres where geared to vote and where uncompromising in Kanyama & Matero in Lusaka! I am a graduate, but I can assure you no graduate including HH & Dr. Mumba (theology PHD) will rule this country unless you connect with the grassroot i.e cadres. I am most curious as to what Winter told Musopelo for him to quickly welcome the new DC despite his own organising his own cadres to stop Chipindi from taking over as DC. Anyway, when positions are political, people use all sorts of means to occupy certain offices. If you are a graduate and you have a good job like me, then you don’t lobby for a job until you are simply identified through head hunt & made affer you cannot refuse!

  11. Yaba so now that the PF wants to replace ugs with Technocrats the thugs refuse to leave office, poetic irony.

  12. HA HA HA HERE WE GO AAGAIN THIS MANS GOVERNMENT WILL BRING PROBLEMS IN THE COUNTRY. DO ZAMBIANS REALLY KNOW THAT THIS MAN HAS PUT HIS BLOOD RELATIVES IN LEADERSHIP POSSITIONS. CANADA HAS DEPUTY WHO IS THE NIECE AND SHE IS MISTREATING OFFICERS, THE SECRETARY IS THE SISTER TO SATAS WIFE. WHY IS THIS MAN DOING THIS TO HIS OWN VOTERS. DID THEY VOTE HIM TO GET JOBS FOR HIS FAMILY. THE DEPUTY AT OTTAWA MISSION IN CANADA IS VERY VERY AARROGANT TO STAFF SIMPLY BECAUSE THE PS FOREING AFFAIRS WONT TALK. THE HIGH COMMISSIONER WHO IS MR BO SAMAKAI IS ALSO IN TROUBLE TO WORK UNDER A FAMILY TREE. ITS NOT FAIR AT ALL. THEY MISTREAT DIPLOMATS WITH BAD LANGUAGE AND SOME DRIVERS WHO DONT OPEND UP TO TALK HAVE LOST WEIGHT ATA VERY FASTER RATE, SHE HAS OPTED TO DRIVE AND THE DRIVER WALKS, HA HA HA HA BWAFYA

  13. Baba muzasipasa boma ulemu bane….is hiring and firing the name of the game baba. And those threatenig leaving the party don’t be mislead PF will remain in power for many years to come.Just go don’t make noise bane, we know who are PF members don’t start hijacking the sweet fruits.

  14. We need sanity in the country.Who are kaponyas in the picture to question the decision of the appointing authority on the removal of the DC? When Musopelo was appointed they did not ask why and now the question the change. This nonsense should not be encouraged in Zambia where any one has the audacity to want what he or she wants going to such length as locking govt offices to prevent or allow someone they want or dont want.Nay,freedom though good should not be abused.
We want sanity in the country and not the Somalian situation without a functional govt.Zambia has a fully fledged govt with the people’s mandate and therefore there is need for respect of all govt instituitions.
We don’t want anarchy, let the police swing into action.

  15. before I forget, the PF should not be held to ransom by a few who may not even be dedicated members.Who knows they may be MMD or UPND.Let them go! we want discipline in the party and government.
