Newly elected Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) president,Nevers Mumba has clarified his political slogan of ‘Don’t Kutina’ as not provocative and confrontational towards the Patriotic Front (PF)government.Dr. Mumba explained that he came up with the slogan to strengthen and encourage MMD members to be strong following what he alleged as political retribution by PF members towards MMD members after losing power.

The MMD president was speaking on a live Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Radio two phone-In-programme monitored by ZANIS in Lusaka. He said the ‘Don’t Kutina’ slogan that some sections of society feel was confrontational was Biblical and was calculated to inspire Zambians including intellectuals that he claimed were cowed into silence following the ascendance of the PF to power.

And Dr. Mumba has maintained that his stance on the plight of the poor and other downtrodden Zambians has not changed since the time he joined politics.

Dr. Mumba was responding to a caller who wanted to know why he has always been inconsistent in politics and his championing of elitist policies. But Dr. Mumba said he has always been an ardent advocate of the poor people by championing of pro poor policies during the time he served in government.

He further said it was for this reason that at one time he became the first ever serving Republican vice president to be conferred with an award for championing the cause of the disadvantaged people in society.

During his inauguration as the fourth MMD president last week, Dr.Mumba, declared a punch for punch politics with President Michael Sata and his administration. He emerged victorious after defeating his closest rival, former Commerce Minister and leader of opposition in Parliament, Felix Mutati to replace Rupiah Banda who resigned from active politics.Others that contested the party presidency are Kabinga Pande, Dr.Situmbeko Musokotwane, Enock Kavindele, Moses Muteteka and Kapembwa Simbao.

  1. Why is this character sounding apologetic. Has he got balls to stand the heat? Sounds more like a cadre to me.

  2. What a silly slogan? Surely Zambia deserves better than these clowns. Very disappointing. Is this quality Zambia is condemned to have as leaders sure? Are Zambians this dull to be having leaders of this calibre? It is sickening.

  3. Here we have statements that inspire Zambians with hope of expectations to emancipate themselves for the fist time, from old politics of deception and falsehood to new politics of new ideas based on Christian convictions to serve others. This is only possible with new leadership that is well informed to deal with clear developmental strategy that can deliver to Zambians in general but above all, with pro-poor policies to up lift the underprivilage not in 90 days(falsehood) but equip the majority with capacity to sustain themselves. Qualification to achieve this task that has been ellusive to Zambia for so long is new thinking of complexity management and creativity. This underpins the need for inclusiveness and recruitment of new members by being more open and forget ‘true blue tag’.

  4. ‘Fear Not’ sounds like a good slogan to me. Does anyone remember the prophetic ‘the hour has come’ of the early 90s. Zambia shall be saved indeed!!!

  5. # 2 Chitapi meno nga mutwe. Recall all past leaders non has such inspiring vision and encouragement as Dr Mumba. Recall recently words uttered by which today have turned into lies. Zambians are disappointed including Fr Bwalya an adent supporter of PF has raised serious questions to Mr Sata over his inetia and haphazard decisions on national matters. In UK today Zimbabweans have been granted permission to protest against Mr Sata at the meeting he is attending. This sends negative messages about Zambia and its current leadership meddling in politics of our neighbours. At most embarassing to Zambians in UK.

  6. Why do you have to copy from the PF slogan. and why use another Bemba slogan? It just shows that you have not vision for the party.

  7. This Man has just copied his useless, meaningless and sily slogan from the DON”T KUBEBA thinking the same will bring back the MMD. Am so sorry MR. Nevers to inform you that MMD is already DEAD and will NEVER rule this country again. Those with proper brains have started thinking of making better plans than waiting for the water to reach their Necks. Nevers will Never rule this country kwasila……!!!!!!!!!

  8. Punch for punch with micheal does not work – RB tried and failed lamentably – the more micheal is punched and painted black, seems the more people like him – Mumba should find another way if mmd has to bounce back – find a message for the 80% unemployed poor to give them hope for a better today not tommorrow – the 80% unemployed poor will not eat the so called don’t kutina slogan – this don’t kutina only inspires the 5% rich among them Liato, Shikapwasha and company – no wonder they have the courage to talk against unemployment and media biasness now

  9. Political consistence is good but unreliable leaders with unreliable grounds worry the wise. Zambia can not be saved like that, through changing jackets (politics), but by faith in the Lord Jesus.
Don’t cheat the weak and confuse the fools.

  10. Nevers is as empty headed as Ukwa. We need a president with substance upstairs. Not these loud mouthed and empty headed charlatans. Nevers and Ukwa are only good are only good at listing a litany of complaints. They are incapable of articulating a vision for the nation. Where is the meat? Not rubbish and cheap sloganeering!

  11. Yiwe #7, why are you concerned or scared about those Zimbo fools? Nothing will be dented to the Zambian name. We will track the names of the leaders of those fools and liars and they will never set fools on the Zambian soil because we will blacklist them. Comrade Sata will know how to answer them and they will never forget for the rest of their lives.

  12. Mumba lacks originality. He is a typical voyeur. At least Chipimo shows he can stand by his principles and not be swayed by the flow of wind.

  13. It is more than copying the ‘dont kubeba, it shows us that this man is world’s shollowest person, politics is about being creative, closer to the masses not the asses.

  14. Here we go with Nevers . Zambia Shall be Save was sang on TV for years …..Was Zambia Saved? No Nio No …. things became worse. Nevers had to abandon the pulpit and ran away from the flock. He was one of the so valled pentecostal pastors and bishops Chiluba hired to pray and cast Kaunda Demons at State house. What followed….there were more demons at Sate house…Ubucende at state house. Corruption came in big time at state house. Was Zambia Saved!!! No No No!!! Dont Kutina …..going no where!!!!!

  15. The ‘erection’ of Mumba was like this; they were two camps in the MMD one being rich and corrupt and ths is the one that influenced the whole system with their usual dirty hands to erect him for their security of course. I cant waste my vote on you man of God because if you were really genuine like we have know you, you wouldn’t have supported criminals, which sold Zamtel for a song and many families are suffering, mwabulapo no bulendo mwaya ku Canada, today you want to lead us, on this one man of God I can assure you, you cant mess with my vote, not beacause you are a bad person but by the fact that you stood with a criminal.

  16. Bu Doctor bwa mafi tatulefwaya , ‘ dont copy if you can’t paste “..Come up with your own slogan….

  17. The good thing is that it is the people on the ground in Zambia that will vote for the leader of their choice. If Nevers reaches to them in the way Sata did, I will have no doubt that he will be in plot 1 come 2016.

I heard Nevers on Blogtalk radio and I think the guy has matured politically. It is all about growth and development my friends!

  18. Ba Mumba mulefwaya naimwe chikalelila ati ‘dont kutina wilalila lila hush…’ forget it the-so-called man of God. the moment you abandoned your church, then your parte, you showed how unreliable thou art. You love the lime light dont u?

  19. I love Dr Mumba because he is brave and we need such leaders in our Zambian society to champion democracy to its fullest level. Saying the truth PF Government is not doing any thing serious to manage the country. They are just sowing ha-trade among the Zambian people, UKWA has forgotten that he is a Zambian together with his Ministers. MMD will bring a balanced politics with the new blood of Dr Mumba and Dr HH. PF Members MWAPYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Let me say this to Nevers: When you look at the way PF is operating, they are fast loosing people’s confidence in them. They are fast backtracking on almost 100% the promises they gave to the people during elections. Its only 8 months into power and a very good number of my friends who voted for PF are very dissapointed. Extrapolate this dissapointed over a period of five years and it will be clear to you how people will want to have nothing to do with PF. The Donti Kutina you are suggesting four years from now will only remind them of the failures and dissapointments the PF would have subjected them to. You will need something giving hope and inspiring. I would urge you to continue with the “Zambia Shall be saved” or a slight tweak of that.

  21. Some bloggers advocate for Chipimo. But can Chipimo reach the grassroots? He is elitist. He does have some good intellectual ideas but intellectuals dont vote, or at least they are comfortable and dont care that much, apart from blogging.

Chipimo should join MMD and work with Nevers. HH should do teh same. We are one Zambia one nation. Chipimo and HH struggle to appeal to the masses. Sata did, look where he is now. State House.

  22. When PF came into power, there was alot of xenophobia especially towards the MMD membership by PF. NEVERS said ” Dont Fear.” The New Slogan Should be ” The Hour is BACK”. It is the hour for economic growth.

  23. Victory church has no permanent building left by Dr mumba. Now is this a kind of a person we can entrust with running the country affairs? He even sold his house in Kitwe. He is just a kaponya

  24. Ba Nevers, this slogan will not sell. “The Hour” slogan swept the country like wild fire in the 90’s. Then came “don’t kubeba”. “Don’t kutina”, kaya mwandi! One thing about a bambo Mumba is that he is consistently inconsistent.

  25. DON’T KUBEBA in itself means deceit, BUT “don`t kutina’ means courage. It is not surprising that PF has failed to deliver on it campaign promises because it used deceit to ascend to power. DON`T KUTINA is a timely message that will speak to both intellectuals who like criticizing the government while seating in their couch and not doing anything about it, as well as the kaponyaz who put PF in to power. If you want to win an election in Zambia, you must appeal to the Kaponyaz because they make up the biggest electoral college in Zambia. Dr. Mumba is very much on target and come 2016, all you HATERS will be embarrassed. HH has failed to communicate well with the Kaponyaz that is why he ‘doomed’ himself when he left the PACT that could have given him that Kaponya vote.

  26. Don’t Kubeba is not a pf slogan but they stole it from Dandee Crazy. Don’t kutina is by far better and biblical than the deceptice don’t kubeba which today has resulted in Zambia being a headless nation which has lost direction. All of you supporting pf government are sick headed if not mental. can’t you surely see that apart from increased deaths in the country economically we are sliding back? ITS DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE TO SUPPORT BLINDLY JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE PF. The Sata team has only brought satanic darkness on the land and it will take realists to undo this.

  27. Ba Nevers Mumba, ala ikalenifye. Dont Kutina, you are just copying and it does not even sound good, compared to PF, find your own. Shame on you

  28. Young people, use a more palatble language, Give logical and substantiated comments not just for argument’s sake. You are swayed by the wind.Life is preciuos, use it wisely when in your youth.

  29. we have to accept that sata is not a simple politician to face is a matter of time you believe how Mumba will be finished. remember is called king cobra see HH is struggling to find foot in politics if he had accepted pact could have gain ground well and pipo could have trusted him but now has became gost

  30. :(:”>:((\:d/8-|/:):o:-?:-\”:-w;)[-(:)>-**==>:)=)):)]:)):(|):-@=:)\:d/:d~o)~X(=d>:-$:-??:”>

  31. Behold when they shall say peace and calm, then destruction comes upon them. Don’t Kutina??
Cobra nga afwisa apa, mwalaitundila no kuitundila. Umunobe ala B kalimutundila, nomba iwe walaitundila weka…lol

  32. Nevers will share votes with Sata amongst their muchinga and luapula brethren. Zambia does not need another tribalist in state house!

  33. Yes dont ukutina is biblical word pastor you are right,if read Isaiah 43:1-2,psalms 121:7-8,deuteronomy 33:27,psalms 118:6-7,luke 10:19,1john 4:4 and james 4:7.God say am with you dont be afraid.us MMD members we are not afraid we are with you pastor.

  34. THE DONCHI KUBEBA SLOGAN CAME FROM JERABOS NOT EVEN DANDY NEW IT.THEY FOUND COBALT N SOMEONE ASKED SHOULD WE TELL AMA BIG N THEN ONE GUY SAID DONCHI KUBEBA BAKAISHIBILA ABENE.PLZZZZZZZ

  35. Don’t Kubeba…Donchi Kubeba!! Ahh i love it. Not Don’t Kutina it even doesn’t come out nice. Use your slogan @ chwela or the hour has come. Don’t Kubeba!!!

  36. Unfortunately Nevers Mumba intends MMD to compete against PF as to who will go the lowest in Zambian politics. Slugging it out in the gutter, going punch for punch with an *****, is not the solution to getting Zambia out of its current quagmire.  If MMD wanted to succeed, they should have gone for an unsymmetrical response to PF, playing a different game.  That is the story of Christianity (turn the other cheek, forgive seventy times seventy – not an eye for an eye!!)

I cannot blame Mumba anyway as it is the knuckle-headed MMD delegates who voted for him against more reasonable candidates.  As they say, “What do you expect to rise to the top in a sewage pond? The Biggest Turd, of course.”

  37. Dont ku plagiaraiza ama slogan yabanenu. First you say not “confrontational” then you say “punch for punch”. More Madness Delivery.

  38. Mumba must be hopeless..as i have always known him to be..look! he can’t even come up with a decent slogan…at least super ken had a slogan which united every tribe…one zambia..one nation..no one felt left out..calibre of leadership qualities…obviously is below par..he really needs to look deeper in his crystal ball to win the already bleeding hearts of zambians torn apart by tribal politics.

  39. one zambia one nation, the hour has come, the new deal, continuity with katwishi uko by RB, dont kubeba! and now dont kutina…………no ways guyz. i dont feel it.
