ZESCO Head Office

Zesco Limited has attributed the power outages that have continued in some parts of the country to the malfunctioning transformer in Luwano valley on the Copperbelt and Kariba North Bank Power station.

Zesco Managing Director Cyprian Chitundu says engineers are however, working round the clock to repair a mal-functioning generators at the two sites.

Mr Chitundu says the erratic electricity supply being experienced in some parts of the country will be normalized within the next three weeks.

He also says that there is an increase in the demand for electricity due to the cold weather and increased wheat farming activities.

Mr Chitundu was speaking during the hand over of utility vehicles worth over thirty-five billion kwacha to various Zesco utility departments in Lusaka on Tuesday.

And Zesco Kafue Gorge power Station Manager, Fidelis Mubiana has appealed to management to consider buying vehicles for the rural offices to improve the corporation’s service delivery.

ZNBC
Zesco has this year alone invested over sixty-six billion kwacha in buying vehicles to improve its operations.

  1. Didn’t I just read a story earlier that causes of black outs was the weather? What’s going on pa Zed?

  2. How do you expect a graduate of lumumba friendship university to run a power company. He was personally appointed by Ukwa because he had one major qualification: Bemba ethnicity.

  3. These baboons are really confusing us. Today it’s mal-functioning generators at the two sites and yesterday it was the cold weather. What’s going on bane paZed. Do we really have a government to talk about or it’s confusion as usual. What wrong did we do to deserve this mediocrity kanshi? I end here!

  4. No power, in Zed, No fuel, prices of food and groceries are going up by at least a k1,000.00 every month. Water supply is non existent in big parts of the country, the little water infrastructure along the line of rail marred with leakages, producing funny tasting water. The exchange rate for the kwacha is steadily weakening. Roads are steadily turning into gravel tracks. Schools remain dilapidated. Our leaders seem on holiday! The country is on auto pilot! The leader made fake promises!

  5. Is it TRUE that Ukwa has been euthanized in Switzerland? If not where is he with his entourage of relatives? Answers please!

  6. Guys in Zambia, if this is true statements from ZESCO MD and that from the energy PS that causes of fuel shortage was due to soccer fans then Zed is really in trouble. Who the hell are they talking to? Pre-school kids? Please guys wake up!

  7. I see managerial and business laps in Zesco. I think you do rash to report your failures and excuses hoping a customer would understand.

  8. Awemba are ruining the country. There will be no country to talk about by 2016. This is the same cabal kk entrusted to manage zccm. And were is zccm today. It is pure gabbage in gabbage out!

  9. Stop oppressing the poor! why is poweroutage in the poor rural, the poor communities?? it is absurd!!!!!

  10. What is required is to ensure that GOVT through ZESCO does not export power (and pocket the money) and us give stories like we are in kindergarden. What will stop ZESCO exporting power and leaders share the FOREX?? What is required is a 51% private ownership of ZESCO by a Strategic partner 49% to be owned by GRZ, that is the only way IMINGALATO (tricks/theft/fraud) will end as every political party which comes into power wants to STEAL from the Zambian people.Right now since ZCCM was privatised, they can only ABUSE ZESCO that is why no POLITICIAN will want to give 51% to a strategic partner as thieving will be stopped if they did that. Call them MMD or PF, they are the same characters, Right now their are no controls when they export power for private benefit as Govt appoints ERB.
