President Michael Sata has appointed Hon. Madam Justice Lombe Chibesakunda as Acting Chief Justice and Hon. Madam Justice Florence Mumba as Acting Deputy Chief Justice with immediate effect. This is contained in a press statement made available to the media by his special assistant for press and public relations George Chellah.

According to the statement, Hon. Mr. Justice Ernest Sakala, Chief Justice and Hon. Mr. Justice Dennis Chirwa, Acting Deputy Chief Justice have proceeded on leave pending expiry of contract and retirement respectively.

President Sata has thanked Justices Sakala and Chirwa for their service to the nation and wished them well in their impending retirement.

And the Head of State is hopeful that the appointment of Hon. Madam Justices Chibesakunda and Mumba will go a long way in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on women in leadership positions.

The Republican President has no doubt that the appointments will equally assist in achieving the aspirations of the Zambian people for the Judiciary.

President Sata wished the new officer bearers success as they undertake this challenging and dignified responsibility.

    • Mr. President welcome back sir, we are all fine despite missing our young boy Muteka MHSRP
thanks once again for appointing our two mothers in high positions. i wish you all the best my President.
Politically Zambia is intact we are now getting used to HH and his few friends who think Donors are here to solve Zambia’s internal affairs.. sir i urge u not to wast time commenting on small matters leave them to Ba Sakeni and big GM. take a rest and tell us how whites are coming to invest in our peaceful Zambia. Welcome back once again

    • Zambia is a failed State. Sata is not capable of solving Zambia’s problems. Achepa Maningi!! Sata and his PF hooligans have no idea what they are doing. Zambians are in for difficult times ahead. You voted for the wrong guy and you got what you deserve.

  1. MISSION SUCCESSFUL, ITS ALL BEMBA SHOW. TRIBALISM ALL OVER PF AND YOU WANT TO TURN ZAMBIA INTO A BEMBA STATE. *****S..

    • You are an ***** yourself, all you think about is tribalism, bemba, lozi, tonga, whatever we are all Zambians. Lets discuss issues and give credit were it is due

    • Are they not qualified. Get necessary education and you will stop complaining. Ngulube, Sakala & Chirwa were Easterners but no complaints. becase they qualified to hold the said offices. Luv Me da way I am “kunwa ink” and stop complaining\:d/

    • Whats wrong with you cattle-herders ? Chibesakunda was 3rd in seniority at Judiciary ! Why dont you have senior Tonga Lozi judges ?

    • U foolish man dont make comments if you cant understand what good governance is all about.
We shall see if your tribe becomes president but God forbid
      .

  2. Charity Katanga!  She knows which side of her bread is buttered.  Opposing the opposition. More drama pa Zed. This is lovely!!

  3. So Charity Katanga will not be reprimanded for her unjust physical assault on UPND demonstrators. We now have enough evidence to conclusively conclude that Ukwa no plan is a thug and that Zambia is officially a failed police state. Charity Katanga should be on suspension not shaking the hand of the head of state!

  4. This is what he should have done and not suspend the three over nchito and mmembes case. Thanks to the opposition to checks and balances.

    • What have the opposition checke and balanced? Telling the donor countries not to fund Zambian projects or sending youths to the streets? Or is it insulting the president and accusing of assasination attempts? what have they checked and balanced?

  5. VIVA my President. Thats the best way to go. A country run by women is always a better one. Abanakashi baliba serious sana. Checkmate on UPND

  6. I am loving this this. Gorvernment of the Bembas by the Bembas for the Bembas. We urge the Tongas not to annoy the Bembas because they will reteriate by being even more tribal.

    • You are an *****. Lombe and Mumba are names common even to the bisa, ushi, lundas including the lundas of north western province. You moron had no problem with Sakala and Chirwa from eastern. Your hatred for the bembas will not take you nowhere iwe kaboke. These two ladies are qualified and deserve to serve our country.

  7. PF Govt. giving women opportunities to show-case their capabilities: at the Judiciary, in Police Service. These are not politicians, but professionals who need to show professionalism. These opportunities may not be there again in future.

  8. President Sata may have his personal weaknesses, some of which are a product of his poor educational background. But overall he has impressed me and my kids as a role model of an achiever. Imagine he is the FIRST president who has entered State House from another state house, his personal house. RB is still staying in a rented house!

    • What poor background. The man finished secondary school and has a BA in political science and corporate law he obtained in 1972 in the UK. That’s why he’s started suing. Get you facts right mate before you face the courts. But you are point on with his appointing of our two mothers.

  9. CHIBWE NO PLAN!!!!!!!..MORE MONEY IN BEMBAS POCKETS…LOOK AT THE WAY UKWA IS GREETING…APPOINTMENTS AD MORE MONEY TO BEMBAS IN 90 DAYS…CHIBWI IWE!!!!!!!HH..4 2016

    • What a joker you are, arsehole. Expect not less than 4 terms of office for the mighty PF government. Just get on the boat you thought would capsize. Welooo!!!!

  10. The country will be called ‘Bembia’ with immediate effect very soon and belonging to other ethnic groups will be made illegal.

  11. Is it accelerating MDG targets or just an affinity for women in these appointments? I have no problem doing it gradually without disadvantaging the men again.

  12. Imwe bamumbwe, bushe tamwakwata ifyakulandapo kamo fye tribalism? Tamulemona abafumapo, bakwisa mishatanyokoshenu? teba ku Chipata bekabeka, mwalekomplena?

    • The one who is doomed is you.. how is Mmembe controlling zambia? Mmembe was there before sata became president and he will be there even after he leaves…

    • Thank you @abana bamfumu. Bushe aba bakapoli, when are they going to stop talking about Mmembe. He was there even when UNIP was ruling and he has been harassed, beat up, jailed under MMD and he’s still here today. He ain’t going nowhere you haters, so suck it up and get used to it.

  13. I think that picture is not in-sync with the story, but never mind

I think this is a great appointment, and she is the right choice

    Thanks

    • very badly and that is what counts. It is the results of his rule that matter. Are you saying you dont mind the load shedding and fuel shortages? The decreasing value of the kwacha and the divsion we are seeing? Are you that myopic that all that matters is Ukwa being in state house?

  14. This country has indeed descended into chaos. I just pray and hope that we will not have genocide looking at the rate things are going! SHAME ON YOU SATA FOR BEING A BLATANT NEPOTIST AND TRBALIST

  15. I hope we are not headed for PITI COAT Government or just the president trying to resurrect his fantasies as a womaniser , as some of us knew him.

    1) Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) -Woman
    2) Anti-Corruption Commission-Woman
    3) Judiciary Head – Woman
    4) Police Head -Woman
    5) Lusaka Police Head -Woman

Ha ha ha Gaddafi style , something about dictators  surrounding themselves with woman power.

    • I totally agree with you bro! That is a serious lead of things to come. But some of us are not surprised since we expected nothing. Expect nothing, get no disapointment. But the ‘family tree’ is coated in this appointment and i hope…….i just hope, and hope….. (how many times did i say that?) the current ruling on the tribunal will not be jeopardized by this ‘ family tree coated move’. While i dont support wrong doings in the judiciary, it’s independence is cardinal for Zambia: especially under my fellow-one-man-show-Bemba man. i will end by mimicing one blogger………..More Pop Corns please while i swing on my cimpelwa!!!

  16. #36 ZAMBIA IS A FAILED STATE UNDER UKWA SATANA CHIMBWI NO PLAN THE BEMBA SUPREMACIST. I hope that answers your question as I have tried to ‘SIMPLIFY’ my answer just the way your buffoon president Ukwa likes it.

    • Go to UNZA and ask for the proportion by tribe who enrol for law as compared to education; you will get the story. If you have time ask about geography too.

    • There is only onefailed  state in africa: Somalia. If u  are quick to label yourself a failed state you are either a colonialist  wanting to  recolonise or a Muzungu wanga neo-colonial subject longing for enslavement

  17. Only small narrow-minded chaps look at someone’s surname and sex first before they can they look at what one brings to the table.
Good job Mr. President, its a shame Ernest never resigned on his own accord on 22nd October 2011, the greedy unprincipled grovelling old chap, I guess his pension was more important that his false loyalties, time fold up our sleeves and deeply cleanse the cancer of corruption ingrained and deeply rooted in the Judiciary by those vile revolting shameless petty criminals called MMD.

  18. Black people always see things on tribal line and other petty things. Mr. Sata our president has done a great thing by appointing our mothers to positions of authority and that is a plus for our society. Thank you your Excellence.

    • Black People Bad Managers,

You are spot on my brother.Women are naturally not corrupt because they are serious with their work and are less likely to be corrupted and people are naturally scared to think of corrupting a woman who is in public positions like the Head of Judiciary,ACC,Auditor Generals office and many other public offices.Us men are likely to be easily corrupted because of our behavior, Drinking beer, Womanizing, more money for deals and other vices.

Mr President well done and keep it up.

  19. What road are You taking us SATANA Iwe why put women why dont you be gender balanced any way theres nothing we can do.. Jus sit back and watch as you drive the country to it downfall .more money i feel like this is less money to me.

  20. Looks like the much talked about ‘REFORMS’ have now been done.

Hurray the judiciary is now clean, suddenly!

  21. # 37, what is wrong with women being in key positions? even `Mushota has a better contribution than you today. Don’t think with your Dick…..son

  22. The picture is really awesome! Good job Mr. President, for the great appointments. It really shows how committed you are to leading the country. May God be with you and wishing you all the very best! I am really happy for you for the good job you are doing. Viva PF. Donchi Kubeba sichumofye. Haters will chock with envy, e.g….?

  23. So you see FINALLY fred M’membe will be smilling that Chief Justice is out; We are waiting to see what Sata will do regarding the judgement of 14bn. The Judge is suspended houw abt the judgement???????????

  24. What Sata should have done was to avoid this human right abuser called Charity Katanga! Sata is just confirming that he ordered what happened in Chawama when he was MMD Secretary General and that he has imported Mugabe’s brutal method in Zambia! Sata should have been ashamed of what Katanga did to innocent UPND youths! I don’t even know why the UPND Lawyers haven’t sued Katanga up to now! Katanga should know that her time will come when she will be prosecuted for what she did to innocent UPND youths who were just exercising their rights in Zambia!

    • Sometimes it is important to speak from facts not assumptions. These are your personal conclusions steming from your bitterness for losing the money train under MMD. The right thing to do is gather your pity self up and try to make use of what is left of your light grey matter and try to make ends meet the normal way. The days of MMD money handouts to a few of you is over. those days are gone. You may rant all you want and insult the president but you can’t turn time. Zambia is progressing no matter what your wish is.

    • Obviously you ignorant and just plainly hate anything Sata does. How does Mumba deserve the position more than Chibesakunda?

  25. you wanted us to put a stupid tonga like hh ?

    ukafwa nashoko! tamwakatepo!

you’re too Greed and the only tribe in zambia!

  26. Why the urgency when their contracts are almost coming to an end? Is it to preside over the judicial review case on the appointment of tribunal headed by judge Chikopa from Malawi that has been challenged Judge Mutuna aand company?

    • It’s just prudent to appoint someone when a job holder is nearing retirement. Probably they requested to go early to avoid being in the public’s eye.

    • Read the article again.
Question: Is the chief justice and his deputy reporting for work? is there anything in the article that tells you that they are not reporting for duties? Anything at all about leave? Anything at all……….Now, read your post again and see how foolish you sound.

  27. oh boy I see Chikopa staying for another 2months.The high court judgement will be quashed.it will be interesting to see the reasoning though…..

  28. Congratulations Mama Chibesakunda and Mama Mumba … you are simply the best. Now we have to find replacements especially on Mama Florence, your shoes will be very hard to fill. You earned your new roles and I have no worries there. The smart people of the Zambian Enterprise are honored for your service the best country God gave man in the Sub-Saharan region.

  29. You don’t say. Sakala had began to carry the air of an untouchable man. Ground dhakes when Sata moves!! Whether in the wrong or right direction.

  30. These are the only 2 women sitting on the bench at Supreme court level and if the man wanted women to lead he could not pick from the street, in any case chances are the male folks are also dented like our beloved Philip Musonda so why pick them and fire them via a tribunal soon after?
Ala Sata mwaume kwena ku ma politics nomba aposeko amano kuli fimbi

  31. Hmmmm. Bali shopinga ba Presido. New suit, new shirt and new tie. Looking good Mr President. Duty free shopping!

  32. The president has a mandate to run the country in a way that will strengthen democratic and governance institutions in order to move the country forward.
Those who are resisting the will of the people, the enemies of democracy will be doing so at their own peril.
Well done Mr. President and congratulations to the learned Zambian women

  33. I guess he threw a few with that move. It kinda makes me wonder what aspirations you ‘allow’ your sisters, mothers, daughters, nieces etc. to have. I’ve watched some of you bashing women all week with no shame simply coz you don’t like their looks. It’s quite positive to see more women coming through and I am betting their qualifications are allowing them to shatter the glass ceiling. Hope you have something better to say to any little girl who looks up to you for encouragement. Repeat after me. It’s not the end of the world :)

  34. I think the Tongas are the most tribal people in Zambia. It is amazing how dull these people are.Why are you insulting bembas? The fact is you are very primitive and retrogressive.Bembas are outgoing people who embrass all the tribes.Tongas must thank Sata and the PF for upgrading some villages in southern province to district status.HH had no clue and it took him by surprise.

    • I am disappointed with your generalization, not all Tongas are tribalists and dull- go to UNZA and search which tribe has the most graduates before exposing your ignorance. Tongas are the most accommodating people, do a simple survey and find out how many Bembas are living in Southern province and compare with Muchinga province. Your assertions shows that you are the tribal and primitive one. I am not Tonga but if asked to choose between Bemba and Tonga I would always chose Tongas because they are hard working and honest people. Let us stop this tribal talk, we are all Zambians and every tribe has their bad and good eggs.

  35. Ukwa, is Zambia only for Bembas? Anyway, nepotism, tribalism is at its highest. K14 billion foregone since puppets are now in charge og judiciary. I now believe the watchdog because they said Mumba helped rig the elections now it is pay day

  36. By the way those of you who are wallowing in the tribal pond, those of you who are muddled and love blowing the tribal trumpet and are against justice as it should be served in Zambia….. none of these two women are bemba although most of the names in Zambia sound bemba

  37. They deserve to be appointed irrespective of where they come from because they are qualified. And to concur @63, they are not bembas serve for adopting as it’s customary their husbands names. Lets move past this tribal bull crap. Barrack Obama is the President of the USA which comprises three quarters of caucasians. Get real and stop bickering of an issue that trascends tribal affiliations. Well done Mr President, but you need to rethink your views on the dual citizenship because it will do more good to the country as opposed to the negatives.

  38. CONGRATULATIONS MUMBA AND CHIBESAKUNDA. PLEASE, CLEAN UP THE DIRTY JUDICIAL HOUSE LEFT BY MEN WITH DIRTY CORRUPT MINDS. SET A PRECEDENT. WELL DONE MICHAEL SATA.FOR ME IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IS APPOINTED AS LONG AS HE/SHE DOES THE JOB.

  39. These women toiled to earn their degrees. So give credit were it is due. Men that complain and are fearful of strong women have too much blood rushing to the wrong brain or head. Am a man and appreciate education and women empowerment, that is how Zambia shall only develop. Also lots of prayers to Jesus. Congratulations Ladies Chibesakunda and Mama Mumba the real freedom fighter.

  40. Mumba is ‘muumba’ from Eastern Province and Chibesakunda is ‘chibezakunda’ a bisa or biza, bana ba mfumu, related to Nkandu Luo

  41. @ Moonga Mulanda above shut up. No# 62 we know which groups are tribal the equal three, so shut up that the rest of us end this tribal tyraid. Let us develop our families and nation graciously. Great move mr. President, but remember I still put up checks and balances. Great Judiciary.

  42. @63 and 68 thank you for supportin learned women. If all men were like you Zambia would become heaven. Learned Women power.

  43. Camikalipa bafikala, atleast they are learned Bemba’s with education most of you dont have lol. Sakala and chirwa were both from Eastern together with RB wats up with that? Stupid Tonga’s.

  44. Change is most of the time needed, but it should always be based on independent, professional reviews. PF is on rampage making changes mostly baseless and untimely. Chi SATA has unstabilised the entire system and created unplanned budgetary pressures as a result. Instead of benefiting we will be awaiting learning effects from new appointees.

  45. Well come back home Tata, we followed your good works, where ever you went, we know how much you laboured for our wonderfull country, thank you Mr President for a wonderful work.
Am loving it, to see you greet our gallant soldier Ms Charity the Lusaka Police Commander, that gesture is an endorsement that our Mothers and sisters in uniform are really doing us pround. Charity walk with me let me shame this looser HH, where others storm the Offices a good leader encourages and advices. As for our two distiguished Judges who have been promoted, we look to you to immediately commerce the reforms in the Judicially. Where men failled we know you will a complish, congratulations you deserve it my sisters.

  46. Chimbwi fimofimo we will get u and when we do we will make u shit To School u little You Bemba hater Katanga is Lamba not Bemba

  47. Sata is chimbwi no plan indeed. It is either he is disgusted by that police prostitute katanga or he had no chance of being photographed before. Anyway Chimbwi No Plan.

  48. The worst tribalists in Zambia are bembas. Do you Remember how one old man claimed Levy was planting a family forest despite him appointing qualified people from all the nine provinces. Today the some one appoints from one clan and when we use the same lenses used to scrutinise Levy we are told not to be tribal. One day one day Jah will answer to the cries of the side lined.

  49. Hh is a patient suffering sleepless nights which is known as hypnophobia syndrome(fear to sleep) due to envy, petty jelous and bitterness for Sata and the pf government. This syndrome can be cured by teaching him that he is not above the rule of law.I have the confidence in the appointed women to clean up all law breakers like hh from society.

  50. Can someone educate me on this issue. What is the role of Parliament on the appointment of the Chief Justice? I have always thought that the appointment is made by the President but ratified by Parliament. Probably i have been away too long and things have changed. I have following this case closely and i can openly say that our beloved country is headed for disaster. We need urgent change of the Executive wing of the government, otherwise we are headed towards a failed state. The Judiciary is now compromised any any peace loving Zambian can not accept the political madness the has rocked the country. For democracy to thrive, there must be separation of powers. I will be very disappointed if Parliament will retify these appointments. The best way forward is to move a motion of impeachment.

  51. I have no problem with the President appointing women in key positions but some of them are not performing to reqired standards. The IG is a typical example so far there has been no change in our policing systems. The poice are still as corrupt as a core.

  52. When is Sata appointing Inonge Wina as his successor? Next President should be a woman, then we will know that is up-to-something better than mere people to intimidate.

  53. Why do the low life poorly dressed educated polygamists hate Bembas? No wonder they are rich without money.

  54. @the bricklayer !
    ukafwa na envy!
not even your father is next to Sata
He’s an achiever,an example to our children!
We’re proud of the man not of what we can get but,how his life has sailed to where he is today !
Your family is simply a failed one!
God bless Michael Chilufya Sata and his househood together with the nation he preside!.

    What a career!

  55. People may call sata all sorts of names, but when you look at him, he is such an inspirational leader, an achiever. He has always proved to all of us that when you set your eyes and mind to something, remain focused, you will always accomplish it. He single handedly built the PF and stayed in the opposition for 10yrs. He restrained his supporters & never plunged the country into mayhem despite having elections stolen from him twice (2006 & 2008). He is the only President to have empowered women with higher positions of responsibilities based on qualifications not political patronage.
I have no doubt he will achieve greatness for our country and leave a legacy to be revered.

  56. I too strongly believe that HEMCS is far shrewder than a lot of bloggers think. Can anyone really believe he would dance to Mmembe’s tune? When the time is ripe he will surprise all you naysayers with his action. He knows the International Community is watching and as for his so- called relationship with Mmembe ,Nchitos etc, it is said keep your friends close but keep your enemies even closer, just saying

  57. Sata’s tribal appointments have brought the fabric of one Zambia one nation to a breaking point. I honestly thought the new CJ would come from outside, not from within. These two were part of the rot and cannot clean it. Besides, it would appear this country is now a laughing stoke Bembastan. There is something most evil with these Central Africans.

  58. Bafikala bushe mwaba shani mwe… you saw nothing wrong when you had Sakala and chilwa now that the president has appointed women you say tribalism. its the reason why i left Zambia.

  59. Awe sure! Words fail to describe these events. As the saying goes ” power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”

  60. @98. Mwanawakwitu. Only those who have occupied state house can be judged objectively as been tribal or non tribal. For those who have never occupied state house the jury is still out. One objective fact in the public domain is that bembas are tribalists. We know this because of what Sata is doing. For kavindele, hakainde, pande or milupi we can only speculate because they have never occupied state house.

  61. I now remember the words of Shamwana ” …. The freedom of the judiciary is gone, so is that of the people of Zambia”. Leaders should not get to change the composition of the judiciary just because they disagree with the manner it operates. Justices should serve in thier capacities for life or until retirement. Only members of the judiciary should have the power to remove a seating judge by majority consent once one of them is found to be in disrepute. Seperation of powers is an important requirement in a democracy.

  62. We pray that our president will one day realize that this country has over 70 tribes that are all shareholders.

  63. Why do we comment on instant positions without looking at a track record. Those two ladies have an illustrious track record, Bemba or NOT!!! When they were braving the rains to go to school most of you fools would turn over in your beds and continue snoring “because it is lening!!!” Get a life, get an education, and build your own legacy! ***** Bemba-haters with no Plan!

  64. He who has the whip will whip….. not ba whipless HH: HeHe, HoHo HaHa, HiHi… LOL looser. Kikikikikekeke…….

  65. The President is on course and he found things were ruined and he is only try by all means with our help off course to redirect this country in the right direction. If God did not want Sata he could not have won the 2011 Elections but Jeremiah 29:11-13 says” I have plans for your life to bring you the future and not disaster……….. Am proud to be Zambian.

  66. the mighty president is working, check this out

    1) Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) -Woman
    2) Anti-Corruption Commission-Woman
    3) Judiciary Head – Woman
    4) Police Head -Woman
    5) Lusaka Police Head -Woman
    6) vice president – white
    7) tax- reduced
    8) constitution- almost ready
    9) zamtel- back

  67. Imwe ba makaka, why do you expect him to appoint HH who did not vote for him and hates him so much. You appoint people that you trust and not enemies. Besides women are honest and hard hearted and therefore can deliver. You cow dung mabisi tribes are cow thieves and cannot be trusted. We know there are 73 tribes but Zambia is cosmopolitan and does not look at people’s tribes and ugly faces to appoint for he sake of it. Oh, my foot, rubbish.

  68. You can actually feel and hear the fabric of One Zambia One Nation tearing under the stinking weight of Sasta’s tribalistic bigotry. Never in the history of this country has a president gone to such lengths to egender a tribalistic PLAN that seeks to exclude literally half of the country (North-Western, Western and Southern provinces) from the corridors of power. This, as we all know it, is recipe for the disintegration of the country, we will not take in sitted as these Northern Janjaweeds Zaireanise us.

  69. One Zambia One Nation.

The President is back in town – don’t kubeba shii

Can’t wait to read all the news headlines over the next few days.

  70. Am worried, why the president is always appointing Bembas,he has removed Judges from the eastern province and put his own bembas. High level of tribalism by president Sata can land this country in trouble. Am shamed !!!!!!!

  71. @3. . There is only one man who could do that. But looks like he was in a hurry and judging by his eyes and facial expression,  he’s not happy with a person or persons within his party.

True about this saying “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” Or “protect me from my friends now that I know all my enemies”

Indeed interesting times ahead…… Let’s wait and see..

  72. wapya munzi mwana hh.demostrate charity will woman handle you take the case to court chibesakunda will throw it .manje wayamba kuyoneka monga ni chipuba, abalekutunfya miyanda na milupi b achaya depa .boma ni boma.congrats madam chibesakunda and mumba.

  73. Can’t wait for the oppozition leaderz to convene and start complaining to diplomats about the prezumably Bemba appiontment of the CJ and the deputy. Did you notice how there waz no yap yap with the appointment of Chibamba Kanyama(oh there were some actually who thought the namez were Bemba)?

  74. Well done Mr. President. Atleast we are to have a sigh of relief. To the new appointees, pliz live upto the challenge and not to what you are told BUT what you know is right.
Thanks to the good works of the former. One Zambia One Nation as it knows no WOMAN nor MAN.

Now Mr. President proceed to stabilizing our economy, I have faith that you will do it God Almighty being you mentor and guider. Create meaningful employment opportunities and favorable business avenues. The dawn of hard work has come no time to waste on politics as you are no longer in opposition BUt in the drive seat of government of our mighty state The Republic of Zambia.

  75. Cry my beloved Country.Bembas are consolidating their hold and want to turn Zambia into Bemba Kingdom where others would have no say. No wonder the forced leave for Sakala and his deputy. That is the real judicial reform Zambians have been crying for. Good lucky to Mmeembe and Nchito their case is a clear win. Ukwa democracy.

  76. Shut up, you cheap tribalists……..FLORENCE MUMBA IS NOT BEMBA….and please give women a chance. They will do a better job than you corrupt men….you have failed us…..

  77. #29 stop your insults especially you are using your grammar go back and read it loud to yourself how does it feel

  78. 1. Would HE’s trainers tell him that greeting a person properly requires that you fully face them. It is bad form for him to look the other way. Its extremely disrespectful to the person.

    2. The appoinbtment of deserving people to postions is great. However, when these people are appointed for political or purposes of appeasement then things change. The backlash will be very bad later on.

  79. Congratulations to Mumba and Chibesakunda, they deserve it, its the qualifications that matter and not gender and tribe, and to hell with the archaic tribal balancing nonsense, thats why Kaunda ended up with incompetent leaders all because of this tribal balancing thing. These two judges deserve it and for sure its a master stroke by Michael. I bet if we had a man at the helm of ECZ during the last elections, it would have been a different story, RB would still be in power today. Let us give credit where it is due, Zambians be serious.

  80. Zambian’s please let Ukwa appoint his tribesmen/women. This is the only way these bunkums can get jobs. They cannot compete on an open job market. They never rise on merit. But only through nepotism, thieving and tribalism.

  81. Florence Mumba should have been appointed the Chief Justice of Zambia!. She was the first female to be apointed High Court Judge in Zambia. She is firm, honesty and of high integrity. Chibesakunda was appointed because of Sata’s families ties with the Chibesakundas

  82. The President is appointing women like Gadhafi did……and why on earth both Chief and Deputy bembas….we are going back in circles….am PF but this is getting us nowhere, I have no problem with the caliber of candidates but BEMBAs again…its worrying, if HH was to go into power what will stop him from appointing qualified Tongas….wrong precedent set….don’t people think at broader spec…what is wrong with Africa….A good leader is sensitive, I just don’t see it in Sata

  83. Munguli wa Likulunga No Plan! Situkumba No Plan! Chimbwi No Plan! Mungolwe No Plan! Chimbwe No Plan! Mbungu-omanini No Plan! Suntwe No Plan! Tourouma No Plan! All these expressions in many languages define the Satan strategy, zero PLAN! We ought to be wiry of scum of the world like Sata and Miyander who spend most of their adult lives aspiring to be president because for all intent and purposes, it is a behaviour premised on achieving the goal as a means and end to itself. It is most shameful that Sata or his goons should even be offended by the plain truth that their castrated Chimbwi has no plan!

  84. Tribalist comments above are from cowards who would never make these accusations in the open. Disoriented bloggers even accuse the honourable judges of being Bembas, when neither of them is! It is also amazing how someone can mislead others that honourable judge Florence Mumba presided over the 20 September 2011 elections, when she was hounded out of Electral Commission of Zambia by the Dan Kalale led corrupt clique. The elections were held under Justice Lady Irene Mambilima. The 2 appointed lady judges are both highly qualified and have had clean careers in the Zambian Judiciary. Judge Chibesakunda is an impeccable judge known for her fairness and firmness and had been president of the female judges association. Judge Mumba is another phenomenal woman! CONGRATULATIONS MY LADIES!

  85. DANGEROUS TRIBALISTS WITH MICROCEPHALY HEADS WILL LEAD THIS GREAT NATIONAL INTO A DITCH ONE OF THESE DAYS!

  86. UPND stop refusing appointments by the Bemba PreSident. Tribal comments are just comming from professor ‘checks and balance’ or Honorable Hindrance HH

  87. MundiaM, well said- all these people who support this Sata and tribalism dont know how this kind of behavior can destroy the country. All i ask for is Southern Province, Western Provence, Central Province , North Western and the people in the line of rail who come from these regions to start collaborating on how to defeat this Monster who has come to destroy Zambia. Trust me we are in the majority with combined force.

  88. You guys really sound so inferior, when the world is moving to unity, you are busy talking about tribe, when the kingdoms have been destroyed , you are busy building the tribes. What an inferio people you are. Tribal campaigns will never asher HH into state house…HH tried it in 2011 but he failed, Stumbeko Musokotwaane tried in MMD but failed. What you dont understand is the fact that tribes in Zambia are dying out slowly coz of intermariages. So if you continue campaigning on tribal lines you will be only appealing to a few in villages. What a dull generation you are .

  89. UKWA HAS FINALLY RELENTED & RESORTED TO FOLLOWING THE CONSTITUTION – BUT ONLY, I PRESUME ,AFTER OFFERING both the former CJ & his deputy OFFERS THEY COULDN’T REFUSE, & NOT THAT THEY HAD ANY CHOICE!!! Talk of reforming the judiciary – using underhand methods!!!!

Yes, justice may have been raped in this country, BUT AM AFRAID, THIS LOT, especially with the calibre we have seen in LAZ, Govt legal officials etc, we even have a minister who feels he needs to explain that CJ & his deputy opted to take leave, HOW IRRESPONSIBLE OF THE JUSTICES TO TAKE LEAVE AT THE SAME TIME!!
WELL, WHY NOT OFFER THEM EARLY RETIREMENT??? SAVE THE COUNTRY SOME MONEY – rather than pay 2 CJ’s & their deputies – I guess, this is what is called “more money in their pockets!!!” LOL!!!! You can cheat some!!
