The opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has said that the victory of Howard Kunda in the Muchinga parliamentary by-elections sends a strong signal that the party is determined to re-organizing itself.

And the MMD plans to petition the Chama north seat, which it said was manipulated by the ruling Patriotic Front. Party president Nevers Mumba said that Howard’s victory in Muchinga was expected stating that the PF tried every possible trick but to no avail.

Dr. Mumba said that the PF’s desperation was seen when they allegedly started distributing relief maize in an area that was not experiencing any famine. Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, Dr. Mumba said that the party will also lodge in an official complaint over the exaggerated expenditure on the part of government officials in the by-elections.

He said that the government should explain why vice president Guy Scoot made two visits to the area instead of just one.

And newly elected Muchinga constituency Member of Parliament, Howard Kunda, who is late former republican vice president and Muchinga Member of Parliament, George Kunda, said that he is honored to be given an opportunity to continue with his father’s legacy.

Howard has since pledged to work with the party in ensuring that he delivers to the people of Muchinga.

  1. its a good lesson for winter and sata that you can not fool the people of zambia by faking everything to suit you.its also a good measuring stick for the pf to know that people are not happy with the way things are going in the country.

  2. Unfortunately MMD has lost 2 seats from the 3 seats which belonged to it. The difference also has really been narrowed compared to the Sept 20 results.

  3. kwalibingi were they neeldown nako balusa ni hh cabe,pf wait and see,90days finish nothing happen.satana king cobra we are waiting 4 u ur promiss

  4. Big up to MMD and Howard, do not relent young man GK did not die in vain. Nevers plse this is your time, its yours to lose and if you had spent enough time in chama frankly speaking you could have won with no doubt there. Be forcused and the uncivilised pf will be history. They thought leading a country is as simple as ABCD but they are learning it the hard way….

  5. who has gained more seats overall i parliament.mmd now awaits a running from the high court from being stripped the head of the opposition.woh ba kabwalala ba nsa

  6. For party that has been in power just for 9 months; losing a bye election is embarrassing. Its clear by two years down the line, PF will be losing all bye elections.

  7. neverlands (nevers mumba) tone down, this was just a sympathy vote. How many seats did NCC win for you to brag about the strength of the party whose ideals you dont understand. You are a new comer to mmd courtsy of RB’s corruption that he wants you to protect him from.

  8. Nevers yo brian is not working, is the offering money haunting u? U were unsat by pf from power what signals are talking about. Tell us what u have to offer?

  9. Congrats to the winners, however I still feel Nevers is not going anywhere with MMD remember this Man had his own party and people never voted for him what will change now? He was a good man of God who we all looked up to till he became greedy, He abandoned his flock & therefore can’t trusted.

  10. Indeed a strong message has been sent.Whenever the ruling party fails to win a bye election is problematic. With all the govt machinery behind PF and yet falling short.Dr Guy Scott distributing maize in these areas amounted to nothing.People are able to see through these inuendos and machinations.

  11. power is so sweet in zambia, once you taste it there is no going back. howard had to continue enjoying tax payers money and so his mother had to make sure this happened. everyone wants to be a politician.

  12. Banevers apa mwaleiba amavote ba MMD, nimwe leeloe mwingailishanya about abuse of public funds, lekeni ba PF nabo baliilepo ilyo tatulabafumyapo.

  13. Waiting for you Nevers our learned fellow unlike the embarrassing semi-literate chap we have at plot one who doesn’t know what not to say.Keep on polishing your resume and in 2016 we’re waiting for you to reside at plot one.Nevers 2016.

  14. Face reality Mumba: it would have been considered a strong signal if your party had won in a by-election on a seat formerly held by the PF. As things stand, the win is neutral.

  15. There is nothing for PF to be embarrassed about. The MMD should e ashamed as it has lost two seats out of the three it formerly held. PF has on the other hand made a big by winning the Chama seat. Try to be objective much as you hate the PF.

  16. What victory are you celebrating, was Muchinga not you constituency, what about Livingstone Central, what about the other one, shame Mumba, your winning does not add any thing in fact you are minus 2, shame, you are not going any where Mumba, you are nothing and nothing you remain.

  17. Da only thing mumba has is da ability to express himself well in english.Trust me he would be da worst president ever if put in office cos da MAN is just too dull to even consider himself a presidential hopeful for zambia.if he failed to run a zambian embassy in OTTAWA WAT MAKES HIM THINK HE CAN RUN ZAMBIA.STOP WASTING OUR TYM NEVERS WE NEED PIPO WITH BRAINS.
