Kennedy Mweene big winner at Free State Stars 2011/12 awards

Kennedy Mweene was the big winner at the Free State Stars awards last night, taking home the Player of the Season award – for the third time in a row.

The function was held at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park.

Along with the R80 000 cheque Mweene received with his Player of the Season award, he also took home R10 000 for the Bonitas Medical Fund Award, which he shared with Zambian countryman Noah Chivuta.

The other winners for Ea Lla Koto were

Rookie of the Season: Katlego Mashego (R30 000)

Most Consistent Player: Mzikayise Mashaba (R20 000)

Most Disciplined Player: Katlego Mashego (R20 000)

Top Goalscorer: Dove Wome (R50 000) (Edward Manqele forfeited the award as he has joined Sundowns; Wome received the award as runner-up.)

Players’ Player of the season: Paulus Masehe (R30 000)

Chairman’s Award: Sedate Ouko Akorike and Soriola Gege (R10 000 each) Bonitas Medical Fund Award: Kennedy Mweene and Noah Chivuta

  9. There is nothing about tribe on this, how many people have become so spoilrd by this tribal venom that they cant discuss anything without linking it to tribe???

    Mweene is a national asset and it dont think he really cares which tribe thinks they own him, he is a national hero. As for captaining the side, it all depends on the coach who makes decisions as who captains the side. I believe he has done that before when Warrant Officer Class 1, Chris Katongo is not playing.

    Just note, its not all good players who make good captains, leadership on pitch, inspiration to others, ability to command respect of others and other attributes play a role.

    Having said that, Mweene definitely does have those attributes, VIVA Mweene!! abash anyone tribal!!!
