We had no hand in HH arrest – PF

Share

Police officers block PF youths who wanted to fight UPND members at the Lusaka magistrate court

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary-General, Wynter Kabimba says his party should not be misconstrued to have had a hand in the arrest of UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema. Mr Kabimba said the ruling party believes in the independence of law enforcement agencies. He said the PF believed in the rule of law and that it would ensure that it continued allowing the independence of law enforcement agencies and other public institutions.

Mr Kabimba said this in a statement issued by PF Media and Publicity Director, Chanda Mfula. He said various agencies and institutions in the country were now enjoying high levels of independence which were denied under the MMD reign. The Secretary-General made the comment in the wake of sentiments by Mr Hichilema and other opposition party leaders that his (Mr Hichilema) arrest on Monday was not justified.[pullquote]The PF, therefore, wants to remind the UPND and their cheerleaders not to expect the ruling party to intercede for them whenever they are suspected to have broken the law[/pullquote]

The party or Government cannot be held responsible for the actions of other political parties and therefore should not be blamed for the circumstances in which Mr Hichilema finds himself following his arrest by the police.

‘The PF, therefore, wants to remind the UPND and their cheerleaders not to expect the ruling party to intercede for them whenever they are suspected to have broken the law,’he said.

Mr Kabimba said it was hypocritical of the UPND and their supporters such as Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) leader, Charles Milupi and MMD’s Nevers Mumba to blame the PF for Mr Hichilemas actions that have landed him in court.Mr. Hichilema was on Monday arrested and charged with publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public. He denied the charge and was released on a K30 million cash bail.

    • It’s govt of Mmembe, for Mmembe, by Mmembe…..PF has no control of Mmembe’s directives. Parliament-Mmembe. Police&ACC -It’s Mmembe, Judiciary -its Mmembe, DPP and Solicitor General-its Mmembe, Statehouse press-It’s Mmembe’s directives appointments….No wonder Kabimba is confused, who is behind his govt Sad fiasco!

  1. Who appoints the inspector general of police kabimba?? If you know the answer then you will know whos behind

    • If what he alleged can be substantiated that indeed the pf gvnmt has sent youths for militia training in sudan why worry about the arrest and subsequent appearance in court ? Just prove your allegations bwana unless you’re saying you were misquoted was it ?

  2. HH issued a statement to which the Govt of Sudan has even reacted, what next? Any responsive govt would seek to get to the bottom of issues, let HH prove himself right, period! No one is above the law.

  3. GBM instructed the police.. is GBM not PF.winter who is PF kanshi???? FOOLISH SECRETARY GENERAL. IN 2016 YOU WILL also go to jail for using tax payers money when u are not a govenment official

  4. You *****s you time is fast approaching ,you are currently drunk with power and tomorrow it will be hungover in the same courts you are busy abusing ,kolwes,CNPs,Power Failures.

  5. Wynter just shut your dry mouths as you need all the saliva to survive. I even heard you saying PF will not protect HH! What do you mean? Are you trying to tell the nation that PF tells the courts of law what kind of verdicts to give to people who appear before the courts? Is that why Sata put those his relatives as Chief Justice and deputy?

Any sane person knows that HH will never get a fair trial from our courts, considering that he opposed many of those appointments including that of the DPP (Director Patriotic Persecution), that very over weight man who himself is a criminal. How can a criminal (Nchito) be taking others innocent people to court?

    • Lubinda, stop being tribalist and Petty.HH was given the chance to reverse his stament and he has not. What do you expect from the police? To let HH go Scot free No!!!!!!.Police have a responsibility to protect this country from careless people like HH who want to cause tension between Sudan and Zambia.

Let him Prove his statements otherwise he is going to Jail where he belongs.

      Dollar

    • @Dollar what you know is accuse pipo of tribalism, you are the one who is tribal. LUBINDA is addressing real issues stop accusing every none BEMBA of tribalizing.

  6. HH charged for publishing false alarms!! since when did HH start start PUBLISHING ARTICLES. why did they not sue the post too????

  7. GBM, PF cadre started it all then it went to the DPP who is PF card carrying cadre, then to Libongani who is the PF girlfriend, then Lusaka commanding Constable who executed the arrest against young talkative HH.Then who can say Pf is not involved.

  8. Am here to discuss the low caliber st of students we ve at UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA, great east road campus. Most of the times i get irritated by these kids who get their degrees free cos grade are awarded to them without sweating for. You board a minibus with these lumpens, they sit at the back and in the corner yet they are just dropping nearby making everyone, when they are disembarking, stand and go outside to give them way. Why don’t these spoilt good for nothing imbeciles realize they inconvenience a lot of people. when you see a boy\girl sitted in the corner, just know he is from the lumpen club. please lumpens sit where you cannot disturb other passengers you dull *****s.

  9. Let’s face it, The ‘Party & It’s Government dictatorship is back with full force and this time it is worse because it targets non bembas. If you thought the MMD party was bad just wait and see.

  10. The Levison inquiry Must come to Zambia. It’s wrong & unethical for the Media to manufacture lies and ask a few pro prominent people and quote imaginary unknown sources to create public policy. Truly, It’s govt of Mmembe, for Mmembe, by Mmembe…..PF has no control of Mmembe’s directives. Parliament-Mmembe. Police&ACC -It’s Mmembe, Judiciary -its Mmembe, DPP and Solicitor General-its Mmembe, Statehouse press-It’s Mmembe’s directives appointments….No wonder Kabimba is confused who is behind his govt Sad fiasco!

  11. HH stupidly made that reckless statement with an outlandish dream that it wins him political fortunes. He thought law enforcement agencies were just going to ignore him. In fact the state agencies exercised remarkable flexibility and offered him a very simple way to end the saga but HH arrogantly and unreasonably turned it down.
HH must take responsibility over his thoughtless statement instead blaming PF.
Only a coward like HH wants to blame PF for his irresponsible acts
The good thing is that HH has now been given an opportunity to prove his statement in court

    • Lets be objective in our analysis of important issues. Summer Kamimbya started this whole episode by informing the nation of the Memorandum of Understanding between PF and Al bashir’s party. HH was just reacting to that statement..Secondly, the DPP was just trying to dupe HH into accepting to a hidden charge which could have been used as a weapon for blackmail in future to silence him. Read between the lines my brother..

  12. @Chanda Chimba the Hero
Good observation! What where the PF cadres doing at the Magistrates Court? And I can’t see any raised bartons or teargas canisters from the Police. I am sure their presence is just as like to cause “breach of the peace”.
The statement from Wynter suggesting that they had no hand in the matter, is the most pathetic statement from the PF. I never thought that people would loose their moral conscious just to safe guard the selfish interests. Sata and his entire cabinet, including Wynter (whom i believe is Sata’s successor in waiting) should be brought to court post their rule and if found to have abused power, they should be striped of all benefits and entitlements.

  13. Who is the government sporksperson kanshi? Today you hear Sata,Sakeni,Kabimba,GBM,tourist attraction Lubinda, the list is endless.

  14. Mukwabo chimwi chiinda kamukala bo zii mulakuyeya mukwabanu uyu ngomutosowa sunu. Do not be used by his enemies for blood is thicker than water, do not say you were not advised.

  15. I WILL ALSO FORM A POLITICAL PARTY TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THE PENALTIES OF LAW if found wanting. I was also thinking that no person is above the law . The law can only be effective if left to deal in its matters independently. I dont think there is anything wrong to see the law driving in its course and those running govenment machinery can let go most of the economicl ,social and ploitical ills by respecting and not intefering in the affairs of the law.

  16. Why are the UPND lumpens so rampant on this blog?
HH made the statement and he is not refusing that he made the statement.
Most drop brained bloggers have assumed that the state will rely on The post publication. This is being naive as there could be video recordings of HH making ‘the’ statement. The hatred habour for Fred Mmembe by most of you will cause you heartaches. Even the lawyers defending HH may actually be blinded that the state will base the prosecution of HH on The post, when infact not.
People should censor their words each time they open their mouths, especially leaders. HH opened his own mouth, no one forced him to make a statement that has lead to Sudan asking the Zambian government to get to the bottom of this urgly statement. HH has himself to blame!

    • You are such UN empty tin! Read your contribution and see what sense it makes. You seem to have your knicker…or is it y fronts…in a twist. Most people are saying HH Will rely on the article in the post newspaper as being the source of his statement which is what any Lawyer would advise. This blinded flowing on party lines is a serious psychotic problem and if you not careful you’ll find yourself thinking like Sata!

  17. @MundiaM #25; can you please stop hiding behind a lozi name, we all know lozis are not as dull as you are. No need to challenge your nosense, just read what Chipimo has said.

  18. I don’t think there are ANY parents in Zambia who would want their child to be like Kabimba when they grow up. This man is a shame to the human family. Kabimba does not contribute to the popularity of PF but rather takes away. If there are any political strategists in PF, they will do well to minimize the rancor from this buffoon of a man. Have people already forgotten that we are at this juncta because HH VISITED HONE and exposed the failures of PF at Hone. This is the whole and only reason we are here today. case closed. This has nothing to do with what HH said a few years ago, but everything to do with Exposing PF failures at Hone.!!!

  19. What do some of these politicians smoke?Mr kabimba its on public record that Gbm ordered the arrest of hh.No wonder some lawyer has never won a court case.

  20. It is not wrong nor is it a crime to make statement. yes, PF is sending youths to Sudan, for what? Education in what? Please….! we have better resources in Zambia than they have in the war tore Sudan. H H has a point – if government have so much money, why not build colleges in Zambia and have home-grown knowledgeable young men, why SUDAN? THINK ABOUT IT

  21. We are in Power now and for the next 20 something years!! Its not possible we can lose in 2016, not in Afro- politics… So all you upnd chaps, forget it…

William ka banda and the PF are best buddies! so watch the space!

  22. ba kabimba y were yo cadres at the courts and y start justfying yourselfs before we ask u its yo time for now wait and see

  23. Which agencies and institutions in the country are now enjoying high levels of independence which were denied under the MMD reign? Can we have just three?

  24. When HH commented on this Sudan story GBM’s reaction was a warning in bemba, ‘Ta twa muleke’ (we shall not spare him). The problem with characters like Kabimba is that they think Zambians are little children to be tossed about.

  25. Well, i know that Kabimba is not smart guy.
Now i have begun to doubt his state of mind. Is this guy Kabimba normal?

  26. Any breaking of the law has consequences.I feel the Police were just doing their job and if H H has enough evidence of what he stated, then he should not worry but defend himself.
