All MMD MP’s from Western Province have dispelled media reports that the party in the province is cracking.
Speaking on behalf of the six MP’s at a news briefing in Lusaka, Mwandi MP Michael Kaingu described the media reports that the party has cracked as malicious.
Some media reports have alleged that the MMD in the province is facing collapse after former Labour Minister Austin Liato was forced out of the party.
The reports indicated that Mr. Liato has now started dismantling some MMD structures and some officials sympathetic to Mr. Liato have since left the former ruling party.
Dr. Kaingu said the truth of the matter is that the MMD in Western Province is still very strong and that all the structures in the province from branches, districts, wards, constituencies and districts to provincial executives are strong and sound.
He said the MMD seed is on fertile ground after the PF government lamentably failed to honour all its campaign promises including the restoration of the Barotse agreement.
Dr. Kaingu said MMD officials at various levels will engage the people of Western province and recruit more members as soon as the rebranding exercise is over.
He said all the MMD MP’s pledge total support to the party and will work closely together with party president Nevers Mumba.
The MP’s that issued the statement include Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, Prof Geoffrey Lungwangwa, Mr. Mundia Ndalamei,Hon Mutelo and Hon Chiseke.

Northern province is seen as the elite second Luapula third southern and fourth Copperbelt, others just feel in the puzzle. And by default the elite and most intelligent persons have been t be 1. Bemba 2. Tongas 3. Lamba 4. Ila 5. Tumbukas, 8….

This is a complete misnormal, Mushota. I do not know how old you are, but from your postings I guess you are quite young. For that reason I advise you to be cautious especially where your understanding is limited. For example the case of elite and intelligent people, you can not surely put it that there is number one tribe, that ranking is faulty indeed. You seemingly belittling people which you should not do.
No one was born with maths in their heads. All of us get these by studying etc given a good environment. And that is what the western province cries for!

ALLEGED corrupt deals in the MMD regime have continued to surface with the latest being that of a payment for the supply of crude oil from Nigeria which has not been delivered to date despite documentation indicating the deal was sealed.
Mines, Energy and Water Development Permanent Secretary George Zulu disclosed this at a media briefing yesterday saying “not a single drop” of the oil was transported to Zambia in the alleged deal.
And the tendering process for the supply of finished petroleum products yesterday came to an end following the signing of a US$500 million one-year supply contract
