President Michael Sata

President Michael Sata today met MMD members of parliament currently serving in Government. This is according to a media statemet released by State house. According to the statement , the rationale behind the meeting held at State House this morning was to discuss issues of development in their constituencies and how best they can collaborate with Government on such and other related matters.

The statement went on to say that it was President Sata’s considered view and passion that there must be serious joint efforts across party lines to consolidate the nation’s new developmental path and as such his doors remained open to all parliamentarians wishing to engage Government on issues concerning the areas and people they represent.

The Head of State reiterated his appreciation of the progressive and patriotic attitude exhibited by the MMD parliamentarians currently serving in Government.

” President Sata regards the parliamentarians as forward-thinking allies in the struggle to achieve the development goals set by the Patriotic Front (PF), such as unlimited access to education and health for all, sustained economic growth, job creation, equal distribution of resources and rural development.”

“During the meeting, the parliamentarians pledged their loyalty and support to the PF Government under the guidance of President Sata in working towards developing the country”, read the statement.

The MMD members of parliament who attended the meeting were Hon. Keith Mukata [Chilanga], Hon. Richard Taima [Solwezi East], Hon. Josephine Limata [Luampa], Hon. Dr. Patrick Chikusu [Katuba], Hon. David Phiri [Mkaika], Hon. Nicholas Banda [Kapoche], Hon. Elijah Muchima [Mwinilunga West], Hon. Patrick Ngoma [Feira] and Hon. Forrie Tembo [Nyimba].

The meeting was also attended by newly elected Mufumbwe PF member of parliament Hon. Stephen Masumba who was accompanied his campaign manager, and Mandevu PF member of parliament Hon. Jean Kapata.

  1. This man is a HYPOCRITE of the worst ilk. He, never, not even once, ever cooperated with the MMD government, even after the so called ‘reconciliation’ with the man he called ‘cabbage.’ His MPs who cooperated with the Constititution making process in national interest he condemned and disowned them. He never acknowledged any of the development projects that the MMD undertook, which he has now taken over as though he started them.
    Please I want to vomit…..

    • Envy and hate will kill you my friend. It is possible if what you are saying is possible that the man realised later that what he did was a mistake and he is trying to correct that. what has he taken over that the MMD undertook? Corruption, high unemployment rates which he is being blamed as if he is the one who put us in the mess in which we are in right now come on wake up and live in the present

    • YES VOMIT. YOU CAN VOMIT ALL THE CONTENTS OF YOUR INTESTINES STARTING FROM THE ANO-RECTUM. IT WONT CHANGE ANYTHING. THIS IS THE WAY POLITICS IS PLAYED. THE MPS HAVE A CHOICE. IF THEY WANT THEY CAN REFUSE THE APPOINTMENTS LIKE THEIR COUNTERPARTS IN UPND. DONT THINK SATA IS A FOOL WHO WILL JUST SIT DOWN AND BE PUSHED OUT OF STATE HOUSE EASILY. THE OPPOSITION FORMED A PACT TO UNSEAT PF. IN THE SAME WAY PF IS ALSO FORMING A PACT WITH THE OPPOSITION MPS IN ORDER TO STAY IN POWER. THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE KEEPS CHANGING AND YOU HAVE TO KEEP ADJUSTING TOO. IN THE END, THE MAJORITY WILL RULE. WHILE YOU GNASH YOUR TEETH IF THEY ARE NOT SOILED WITH YOUR VOMITUS.

    • What is selfish and unprogressive about working together with the opposition? Infact the opposite is what i would call unprogressive period

  2. The President should be commended for his efforts in uniting Zambians across different political affiliations and tribes. Time for dividing the people of Zambia on tribal lines is gone and the tribal bantustan party UPND should know that it will remain isolated so long as under five is still its leader. The MMD on the other hand is slowly moving into oblivion under the leadership of the visionless pastor who thinks politics is all talk. Zambia will be transformed into a prosperous nation under the PF and President Sata and it is only right that all progressive opposition MPs jump on the boat as we sail to the promised land. viva Michael Sata, viva PF

  3. These rebel MPs have already accepted to work with his Government. Whatelse does need from them? To resign and cause unnecessary bye- elections? Mr President, we are for modern multiparty democratic dispensation Sir. Spare us from your dirty tactics!!!

  4. ITS TRUE OUR POLITICS IS THERE TO MAKE THOSE IN AUTHORITY BECOME VERY RICH,,,NO REAL DEVELOPMENT AS PER SAY. SATA IS JUST FOR HIS RELATIVES TO BE RICH…SEE HON. SAMPA VERY RICH NOW..MENTION THEM,,,,,

  5. Thats a political meeting not a developmental meeting, may as well meet all MPs.Limata and Taima are holding those seats through a supreme court appeal. The high court dismissedm their elections as MPs.Masumba is not a litmus test for PF’s popularity.

  6. ZAMBIANS WILL ONE DAY RISE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES THEY HAVE BEEN CHEATED FOR A LONG TIME,INDEED BA SATA IS CAUSING ALOT OF POVERTY PAIN ON US ..ALOT.

  7. We need to be moral in the way we conduct our selves in politics,,,we need to tell these politicians the truth,,we are poor due poor leaqdership by the PF govt.

    • So my friend the PF has been in power from October last year if you became poor this year it will still not be right to say you are poor because of PF we are yet to feel the result from decisions made by PF government so in the first place you yourself need be honest with yourself and the way you conduct your politics you are poor because of the past governments decision unless if you benefited from all the corruption that was taking place and after all those fake contracts and corrupt activities were stoped then you became poor then its not PFs problem it is yo problem

  8. The pf guys have no better agenda for the poor and poorers…Sata should be voted out in 2016,,,he lied to us many.

  9. When does someone becomes a ‘Honorable’ and Comrade?

This is laughable, I feel like pulling my hair every time I hear those terms used to describe generally old Zambian men, who are more often than not not as educated as this generations, especially myself

What criteria qualifies these people to be called such titles. These people are not being shown any insolent and calling these titles anyhow is short of mere facade on their importance to society, I bet they are all deputy minister, a post I would refuse if accorded in place of my life in Scotland here
It churns me reading this as a PhD student
    Thanks

    • Answer my question and stop acting like my English Teacher, when is someone a Comrade etal?
I would careless about grammar as long as I convey the message and my spelling is sound.

      Thanks

    • I think ” a honorable” is correct. Not “an honorable”. An goes with words which start with vowels i guess, such as … an apple, an orange and those whose pronunciation start on a soft note; the likes of an hour, but not an honorable, an hakainde… these are hard notes. Hope am clear.

    • @ 16.4 R.N, In the word ‘honour or honourable the letter ‘h’ is silent and that is the simple reason why it is correct to say an honour and not otherwise. I must hasten to admit that we didn’t attend the same schools.

    •  Mugshota, you highly talk about your PhDs, and all. You’ll be surprised that you are the least educated on this blog. And who cares? I’ve seen doctors dying with high levels of poverty. Prosperity is not dependent on a phd. What do u own? Me I own land, animals and real estate. I don’t have a phd. I don’t have a degree. So, I’ll employee you. If I see that you are not sharp, ill fire you! Scotland? Whilst u there, yo friends are building mansions. Like a stupid man that accumulate his papers and yet begs money from diploma holders. Isn’t that foolish? Wisdom is needed. Each time he hears we in London, he comes to ask for money. He has 3 masters degrees, getting a fourth one and begging on the other hand. Ubupuba bweka bweka

  10. Holding of bye-election is productive. At least the govt money will be shared among the locals.Look at this! guest houses, bars, markets, peoples allowances and many other economic activities will benefit. So let them resign so we can have this money.

  11. Despite George Chellahs best efforts to make it seem that Sata invited the few MMD Mps AND Masumba to discuss development we all know he wants to entice the MPs to join PF.If he really wanted to discuss developement in constituences across Zambia he would have addressed all opposition MPs-thus showing the nation that developement will go to every corner of Zambia including those represented by opposition MPs.We do not want a parliament full of PF mps who will say yes to everything Sata says. Please MMD ‘rebel’ MPs think beyond your stomachs and protect Zambias fragile democracy.

  12. This is clearly an assault on democracy.Only the blind cant see what Mr Sata is up to.Let the opposition wake up as bye elections are coming everywhere where these deputy ministers are serving.Pf is funding them and they will win the bye elections. The best for the opposition is to expel them and remain with a small disciplined number of mps. These are sellouts to democracy and opposition spirit. What difference is there between them and prostitutes? They are a shame.Let them resign their ministerial positions and remain ordinary mp’s and serve their people.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  13. Its our time now to play with tax payer’s money just like the MMD was doing. I missed out for 10 years when Iwas in the opposition. It’s good to be in charge of this bottomless suck of kwachas you can just throw around as you wish. I really miss Fredrick Chiluba in such times. We played around with real cash those days. I want all of these MMD MPs to resign so that we can have by elections/ erections and blow billions of kwacha. The poor can burry themselves. It is in the blowing of tax payers’ billions that political parties become rich. That is how we made MMD rich those days.

  14. This is political crookedness SATA is the one who is causing by-elections not Dr. Mumba these meeting was to incite these MPs to join PF not talking developmental issues. Now same SATA turns around and blame the opposition causing by-elections what type of the President do we have in Zambia, but warning to these MPs let them resign and we will meet in the field we know how they rigged MUFUMBWE we will measures which they will shocked and regret for the rest there lives.

  15. Sata is using the demise from POWER of MMD to his unfair advantage to cripple MMD further. he knows MMD bleeding. IT is the same SATA that fired all the Luapula MP’s thagt chose to work with the MMD then. Today he is in the forefront poaching MMD MP’s. If it is development, why didnt he include UPND MP’s? He knows will lose badly in Southern province. Sata stop wasting tax payers Money.

  16. Sata has a grudge and score to settle with MMD a party that in 2001 rejected him to be party president and opted for Levy. He wants to Make sure MMD ends up like UNIP, as for UPND no worries there under its current leadership and tactics I don’t see them growing beyond their current numbers. Simple truth about UPND is they have and are gaining popularity with those of us on the internet or urban literate but unfortunately on the ground very little progress especially beyond UPND comfort zone Southern Province and partially Western, Central and N/Western. UPND/HH popular on the internet but on the ground not so…evident from the recent by-elections 12 of 14 to PF including Mufumbwe. Following ZWD and there stats very misleading.

  17. Was Christine Kaseba or Inutu Suba or Tresfore Mpundu’s sister whom he has two children with him out of wedlock there to serve chilled water to these renegate MP’s??????

    • Dumela Mpangula, o kae? Nna ke a tsoga mo motseng mogolo Lontone. Gaetsho ke Kasane le Francistown le Maung (Ngamiland). Sala sentle.

  18. What a sheer waste of time for these oppostion parties who are being bullied by this dinossour. They have no say especially after their recent defeat in Mfumbwe bye-elections. The opposition parties are simply throwing mud at each other. The MMD lost to this tyran above and what have they done following their defeat? Answer; they looked for someone to blame and oh God, they found their easy target which has nothing to do with their humiliating loss and the easiest target is UNPD. This is absolutely pathetic to some innocent group of politicians. MMD get up and stand on your knees like an army read to fight a formidable enemy. Be like us South Africans we fought the Boers with our resilience and we achieved our victory no matter what the cost was. You lazy people stop complaining,

  19. Dr.Mumba and your NEC,please just get rid of these rebels as Sata called his Luapula MPs who tried to work with MMD.MMD looses nothing as these MPs do not vote with opposition in Parliament but PF.
The MP for Chilanga should think twice if he wants to continue as MP upto 2016.If he is expelled,UPND will bounce back in Parliament should a by election be called.Let him test the waters if he is foolish!

  20. Something wrong here. Can you get into someone`s house and start addressing his children without the consent of the father or guardian parent? If the President means well, he should first engage the party President,MMD, and agree how the two are to work together. When there is such understanding at the level it would make sense to involve the MMD MPs serving as deputy ministers in national development programes. Its being insensitive to unilaterally appoint the MPs and plan meetings of this kind.IT`S INCITING THE MMD leadership to expel the MPS.STOP BEING INSENSITIVE AND ENGAGE PARTY LEADERSHIP.

    • Hi PK, correct me if I am wrong. Would it not have made more sense for the MMD leadership to react at the time of the appointments and explain to the MPs the expected party protocol? You appear to be suggesting that someone put a gun to the MMPs at the time of their appointment? My considered view is that, if the MPs accepted those appointments with their leadership’s blessings for whatever strategic reasons, then it follows that the leadership expect to be briefed on the way forward subsequent to the “meeting”, don’t you think?

    • @ 32.1 TURNERAC, You may want to know that the MMD leadership did react to the appointments of some of its MPs to serve in the PF government citing not being consulted on the appointments. In fact these MPs were even threated with expulsion if they did not take the party leadership advise to resign from the positions they were given in PF gvt. Some resigned others dified the order. Its like PF encouraging the MPs to disobey its leadership.IN SHORT THE MPS did not accept these appointments with the blessings of their party leadership. My considered view is that THEY WENT FOR a carrot offered by PF.

  21. Better to have few loyal MPs than a large number of useless chaps. Keeping them in the MMD is a waste of time. They are part of the government already anyway, so better they are PF than pretending to be MMD. It is better to hold 10 by-elections at the same time because then there will be no concentration of ministers in all the constituents during campaigns. I am sure, 5 of these would still remain in opposition hands than pretending to be opposition while belonging to PF.

  22. MUSHOTA  give it up zambia doesnt even know you ,to hell with you phd.We are proud beautiful, sex , intelingent  and educated women like DR DAMBISA MOYO are making big difference in the ,but not shy to tell the world that they are zambian. follow DR DAMBISA MOYO on twitter and facebook you ll learn something from that beautiful woman.thanx

  23. There is serious leadership crisis in Zambia, MMD is gone, UPND thnks regional, NAREP is busy looking for an appointment in PF, while PF itself has same old political tricks we rejected just a year ago!!! The question is who will lead Zambia with integrity???? While we wait for Jesus to come and rule the new world, we still need a leader with integrity and a heart for the poor and youth. Alas my fellow youths there is no hope at the moment, we need to wake up coz thez leaders mean no good to mother Zambia. God help us

    • UPND appears regional because of tribalism by people in the north who think tongs are not good enough to lead the nation. You can see even from the comments on this site. Almost everyone what Chipimo to be next after Sata and yet they are quick to label HH as being under five as portrayed by the most incompetent leader Zambia has seen since independence

  24. Please Mr President & Please Zambians, help us we are tired of hero worshiping Hakainde Hichilema. We are made to pay him for being on the party ticket and he says without him we were not going to be MPs. We failing to take development to our people because when you want to work with govt, our lives are threatened. The levels of huliganism in our party UPND has reached arlaming levels. We shall post more information on this site so that people of Zambia can deliver us from this bondage. Thank you.

  25. Iwe chi Mpangula Mputyu we mbwa yabula umucila iwe. You are just envious of the MPs. Ka Masumba naka michefya ba swine iwe. Ala even if you use all sorts of musalula, you will NEVER ever become president, this includes the people you support. Kolwe iwe makaka.

    • Sir/Madam, does such tone and raucous language sit well within your conscience?  Ask God to help you clean your soul of such invectives.

    • You can go to freecreditreport.com, thgouh have certain to terminate inside of 7 days or you’ll be charged (that’s because they need a withdraw #).Here’s a couple upon how to cancel, which approach a inform will unequivocally be free:

  26. President Sata is a President for all Zambians, now we want to deliver to him the entire UPND MPs so that our people in the southern province can have devolopment. Hakainde will remain a political pedistrian. H.E Sata on the drive.

  27. Thanking them for voting with PF Government on the K1.5 Billion for the non function office of the first lady. This money is just for her wardrobe and to bribe illiterate women across the country to support PF.Remember Vera Chiluba and the Hope Foundations.Anne Chifungulwa we need a full account of our money.

  28. Your Excellency MC Sata. I beseech you in the name of Democracy to help your country move forward by encouraging checks and balances. Last time, we voted against the Luapula PF rebels led by a one Dr Machungwa and his despised NCC attendees. Your Excellency, you showed leadership and courage by expelling them from the PF but unfortuantely the MMD controlled Speaker kept them. Your Excellency, why go against something you know is wrong by now entertaining the oppostion MMD MPs into rebellions. Your Excellency, how would you feel is someone makes your children rebel against you or worse still makes your wife cook for him and do other marital duties? By the mercies of God, your Excellency, save our democracy. Your Servant.

  29. Spot lite

Comparing like for like I am much better considering the hell of education and social life with Dambisa Moyo
I am constantly travelling to Zambia sending clothes to Zambia contributing on forums here on LT, doing a PhD have CIMA ACCA Msc MBA BSc and a few diplomas despite being only 27 and who is Dambisa Moyo? with a twitter and Facebook account?
You are so ignorant, if you are not impressed by what I have for someone my age and dating a white-guy you need to take some brain repairing pills
    Silly

    Thanks

  30. What an actor, what a pretentious character what a calculating schemer with so much charade and no moral compass? This phony and dishonourable president never gave his MP’s a chance when he was in opposition. Now he wants us to believe he cares so much for the unity of the same country which always came after his political interests.Master of double standards, a bad role model,an opportunist and a man you should never trust.Thats Sata for those who are too blind or naive to see.

  31. Sata is a rubbish president… Instead of meeting GBM and Kabimba to bring peace, he is meeting MPs from opposition parties in order to generate more chaos in the country. Who voted this animal into office… we are sick and tired of being sick and tired of his illiterate selfish moves. Anyway let him continue so that by 2016, when him will be 80 years old, PF will be too dead to even stand in the elections… Chaps like Masumba are living a wanking life of instant pleasure…he will regret in future that little guy. Anybody can say things now, but wait, time has its own rules.

  32. Satana while you are at it, please go ahead and persuade all opposition MPs to join your PF so that the “Nation” can “concentrate” on “development” under your “wise leadership”! Lol. Zambia is a typical backward banana Republic which is still been led by a primitive guy not cut for modern times. Sata please do us a favour and step down! You’re making the country worse we chipuba we!

  33. @Mushota#42
Just stay away from healthy arguments and you are not a woman. How dare you impersonate women and what do you gain out of this shrewd business of dreaming about assuming roles of women. I somehow got confused, lost my integret and suddenly looked at this Mushota figure as a normal ‘female’ not even slightly did I suspect that you are a domanted little sick fella. How on earth did I even jump at the thought of inviting you in my property. You know that you are not a woman and you have the audacity of comparing yourself to female species. Please apologise, thanks.

    • @49 BOOM & WHATEVER, Well summarised! You know some people find pleasure in living in a world of fantasy, dreaming about a chain of degrees, posh cars, wealth and pretending to be of the opposite sex.

  34. BOOM

I wish I was a man so I would kick the brains out of your head
Either way you are another senile, that I bother, sad its surprising that it has taken you this long to
Call me a man, you can call me whatever you want, I take that as a compliment, because you like others are mentally challenged that if a woman shows they are better than you are, you ridicule them with contempt
I don’t date black people and I have my fiance, and will not respond to your drivel, so don’t respond to me. You seem clueless that if you dressed in a clue skin, doused yourself in clue musk, and did the clue dance in the middle of a field of horny clues at the height of clue mating season, you still would not have a clue.

    Thanks

  35. Mr sata is manipulative, his done the math and the only way his going to push in questionable laws is to buy back-boneless swines such as these MP’s from MMD mistakenly called Honorables when in the actual fact they only posses simple Diplomas . Mr sata is trying to apply Colonial tactics which he learnt during the time he was a Colonial Police Constable of Divide and Rule but not everyone is can be fooled by the rhetoric of development sata is singing, what development his he brought since assuming office. Ain’t these the same MMD he says were corrupt and left a Mess but as usual he lied during the entire campaigns.

  36. By the way where is the First Lady whose been allocated illegal Money to a none existent office of the First Lady. Inutu Suba 2 – 0 DR Kaseba

  37. @Mushota#50
Apologies if you are indeed a lady. Please, note that over the weekend I wrote something to you and someone purporting to be you wrote to me and said that you are a gay person. Furthermore, he/she said that I must take my ‘banana and buff’ it somewhere else. I am sure you understand the source of my anger. Mushota, please I repeat, I am very sorry for my earlier remarks. Even though I am a black person, the kind of life which I lead is above that of an ordinary blackman. I can give you real tender love aside from the best material things money can buy. I am not lying to you. I respect ladies especially you. Cool down baibe, sleep well. Do not let this little misunderstanding not divide us

    • Please stop it
Ask LT for my email don’t talk about love here just don’t sorry
This is wrong and makes me uncomfortable
I am engaged and not available sorry

      Thanks

  38. Yes, life across the globe is becoming tough, but it’s even tougher when you’re stupid electing retards as national leaders.

  39. I am disappointed that LT has decided to block a serious contribution I made on this most important matter.   Blogs should be allowed to evolve ams espouse serious intellectual discourse however challenging the content might be bearing in mind the derogations of free speech in Art 20(3) of the Constitution of Zambia and the plethora of case law on freedom of expression.

  40. @Mushota#50 Please, my love take some relaxers, you know, I mean some tablets for calming your nerves and I didn’t mean to offend you. Damn, what did I just write to Mushota earlier on? She is right when she posed a question and I quote “Why has it taken you this long to call me a man?” I am very sincere in my approach and apologies. Good night my love sleep well I know you love me too. You always sound intelligent, focused and in control of reasonable discourses. Please keep it up that is the motto. Bye, Mushota.

  41. Here is a President whose head is firmly jammed into yesterday’s World of one-party participatory democracy ideology. He wants ‘Yes’ men all around him, and thereby driving Zambia full blast back into the dark ages that will make Zimbabwe’s Mugabe look like a moderate.

  42. I feel sorry for the people that are easily fooled by such lairs. The PF wants to weaken the opposition and ensure that all the rubbish they intend to take to parliament passes without any whisper. The PF leader is well aware of what co-opting members of opposition can do in weakening democracy which he does not favour. How I wish we could bar any MP that resigns to join another party from standing. All this nonsense would end.

  43. Wow,this is absolutely not good for democracy and Sata has clearly decided zambia can go to the dogs just for the sake of his political gain.

  44. Elias Chipimo Snr should put his theory into practice about the best thing that can happen to a stup.id African President.

  45. Senior citizen is very sick chap in his head…waity and see..the old man SATA has lost it all ,,wait man…viva opposition

  46. In think # 67 is right ..the old Sata a lubana so…I now support the opposition..viva the young leraders…we should all suppot HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH for state house..God bless us all.

  47. In think # 67 is right ..the old Sata a lubana so…I now support the opposition..viva the young leaders…we should all suppot HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH for state house..God bless us all.

  48. If Zambians want to take part in restoring sanity in the country & bring an economic transformation let us all support HH, things will be better. thanks

  49. MR SATA IS LOSSING LEGITIMACY SO EARLY WAIT AND SEE,,THE OLD MAN HAS NO VISION TO DEVELOP MOTHER ZAMBIA,,HE IS JUST THERE TO ENRICH THE MMD OPPOSITION MPS IN THE OF WORKING TOGETHER.

  50. MR SATA IS LOSSING LEGITIMACY SO EARLY WAIT AND SEE,,THE OLD MAN HAS NO VISION TO DEVELOP MOTHER ZAMBIA,,HE IS JUST THERE TO ENRICH THE MMD OPPOSITION MPS IN THE NAME OF WORKING TOGETHER.

  51. Intersting, it is true no matter how good you perform you can’t impress all the people at one instance. But truth is, what Mr. Sata has done is a dream of many other societies around the world. How they could wish their Governments would incoporate oppositions for the betterment of their countries. So before you criticise look at it from both sides.
