Nkana, Mighty Clash in Barclays Cup Curtain-raiser

Share

Nkana and Mighty Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday clash in an exhibition match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The two legendary clubs renew old rivalries in a curtain-raiser match during Barclays Cup final between defending champions Power Dynamos and cup debutants Napsa Stars.

Nkana coach Zeddy Saileti confirmed on Thursday that the exhibition match is on in Ndola and is scheduled to kickoff at 12:30 hours.

“Yes, the game is on. We are playing against Mighty in Ndola. We want to ensure that all our players have a feel of the match,” Saileti said.

Nkana and Wanderers last clashed in September 2009 in a Faz Division One North match played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka that the former won 2-1.

That same year, Nkana went on to bounce back to the Faz Super Division while Wanderers remain stuck in the lower division.

Wanderers first suffered demotion in 2002 before briefly making a return for one season in 2005.

  1. Why use two spent forces as curtain raisers? Waste of time. I will only enter the stadium after the two federal champions are done with kicking each other.

  2. No 2 mune Kitwe Boys wansekesha….. kabili pa Zed we like fossils. Sata, Mugabe our best friend, Alexander Chikwanda, KK, Munkombwe, Mutubila ala nisangwapo bali na zeeee.. these are people who do not want to let go of politics.

why NOT Kalampa and Mighty Muf Wanderers doing the same as well.

  3. cant wait ti watch the matches on tv….i love the game, but ba kalubemba dont damage the stadiu,we want to wallop netherlands in that same stadiu

  4. This used to be a big game in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. Pity that privatization cost Mighty & Kalampa a lot. These games were full of sparks, skill and lovely goals! Mighty had an edge in Cup games. Remember the terminology ” Mighty awina ichungulo” Those were days. I hope it will be an exciting game

  6. I do not like any of the two teams. Nkana has barbaric followers. Mighty Mufulira Wanderous disappointed me when they lost to Simba of Tanzania 5 goals to zero at Shinde after beating the same team 4 goals to zero in Dar-es-Salaam. That was in 1978.

  7. mighty mighty mighty this is my team forever, first its MIGHTY then ZAMBIA follows by MANCHESTER UNITED, lets go MIGHTY, i was born mighty  and i ll die mighty mufulira wanderous

    • Are there any indigenous people in the UK withe same passion for Nchanga Rangers, Power, Nkana, Kabwe Warriors, GBFC, Mighte and all, like the some Zambianz are obsessed with foreign teamz? Mighte and Nkana are like UNIP and Liverpool, however much you talk about or praize them, they will NEVER go back to their hey-dayz again.

  8. #11, this team is laso my favourite, then Zambia and liverpool!!! Now my friend, your nick cares me…. Thus why we have cholera in Mpulungu and Bangweulu. I guess you come there!!!lol

  9. this team is also my favourite team, then Zambia and liverpool!!! Now my friend, your nickname scares me…. Thus why we have cholera in Mpulungu and Bangweulu. I guess you come there!!!lol

  10. Two sets of malnourished players with jerseys donated by Bayport kicking each other and drinking tap water on the touch line, why not bring Chanda Beu to do his skills than watch two finished teams.

  11. @kitwe boys i totally agree with u. these finished teams especially those whose supporters are thugs & stone throwers to be made as the main news is the most unfortunate in this century.the story is supposed to be about POWER DYNAMOS and napsa. Faz could have brought the mayenge rather than nkana and mufulira wanderers to entertain us
