Outgoing Eastern Province Minister, Charles Banda, has reiterated that government will dismantle civil servants who have not accepted the change of government and want to derail government’s plans of developing the nation.

Mr Banda said all civil servants need to accept the change of government in order to continue with the implementation of developmental programs in all sectors of the economy.

The minister was speaking to journalists in his office this morning.

Mr Banda stressed that it is important for public workers to remain non partisan and support government if they are to deliver services in an efficient and effective manner.

He, however, noted that most civil servants in the province have accepted the change of government and its developmental agenda, saying it is for this reason that the province has seen positive participation in development activities.

Mr Banda cited the road rehabilitation projects on both feeder and major roads as some of the successes that have been made since last year.

Mr Banda noted that works are going on smoothly on the Chipata/Mfuwe and the Chipata/ Lundazi Roads and that 80 per cent of the works have completed.

He stated that the contractor stepped up works on the two roads and expressed optimism that works will be completed according to schedule.

Mr Banda also stated that government is opening up most of the chiefdoms which had poor road infrastructure across the province.

He said the Rural Roads Unit (RRU) has rehabilitated and is in the process of rehabilitating the Mfuwe/Malama road and Sinda /Nyanje road among others.

He stated the 19 rural roads have been budgeted for rehabilitation works.

Meanwhile, the outgoing provincial minister says the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has improved the marketing system of maize in the province.

Mr Banda acknowledged that there have been a number of shortfalls in the marketing of the product in the 2011/12 marketing of the product.

He disclosed that the province is remaining with less than K30 billion to finish paying off farmers who sold their maize to the agency.

Mr Banda said government will finish paying what it owes the farmers before the end of the week and K29 billion was to the province last week.

He said government intends to continue improving the maize marketing system and the distribution of inputs to the farmers.

  1. Over one year in office you are still demonising the civil service. Very lame and insincere excuses you are giving us. It like a farmer complaining the a plough is frustrating his efforts. It is evident that PF entered Government so blank that they had to resort to smearing the civil service – the one and only machinery and system they can use to deliver. I think ba PF should stop bullsh**ting us over and over. I pity the hard working civil service whose only request is better conditions of service, of which some of which the PF took away e.g. transportation. So what exactly do they (PF) mean when they keep saying civil servants are frustrating effort and what power can civil servant exercise to block their bosses, the Zambian deserve to know or esle this is all bull sheet.

  2. Bwana Minister, I do not agree with you on the issue of roads, particularly Chipata /Mfuwe and Chipata Lundazi roads. Does it mean that Sable has greased you too? Look at the pace of the constructionof the two roads- Snails pace! Sable is the worst contractor I have seen, but his days are numbered. He will not continue stealing from the poor through shody road works. We nned action from PF or we will force you out before end of term

  3. this man looks dead are you sure his not a Zombie under the control of Sata whose also been controlled by criminals. he looks like an embalmed statue but PF has a lot of HIV/AIDS people very unfit who should be retired on HEALTH reasons or in the interest of the nation crap and lack of education to process the complicated matters involved in running the Country. Sata should also be mentally checked his got multiple personality and is also a pathological liar.

  4. Let’s not forget the peirod of history we’re talking about here. Zambia during KK’s days hosted four African Liberation Movements (ANC-South Africa, Zapu-Zimbabwe, Zanu-Zimbabwe, Swapo-Namibia). With an economy based on a single product (copper) the Western powers made sure that Zambia paid dearly for its support of Africa’s Liberation. Not much KK could do about the price of copper, which was mined by Western companies, consumed in Western countries, and had a price that was set in London. Let’s not forget these important facts. No need to tell Zambians how the price of copper was deliberately kept at a low price to feed the Western economies and to punish Zambia for daring to help liberate their fellow Africans. The economic malaise was not all KK’s fault.
