PF not inducing resignations of opposition MP’s- Sata

President Michael Sata

President Michael Sata has reiterated that the PF Government will work with all progressive parliamentarians with the interest of the nation at heart regardless of their political affiliation.

This is in response to unfounded allegations by some opposition leaders that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) is aiming at decimating the opposition through induced parliamentary by-elections.

But President Sata said if the opposition parties whose members of parliament are currently serving in Government allowed their parliamentarians to contribute without intimidation there would be no need for by-elections.

“The laws of the land allow the country to hold by-elections as and when they arise. This is the democratic system we have chosen for ourselves. Therefore, it is deceitful for the opposition to hold the PF Government responsible for this state of affairs, which is largely due to their leaders’ egoistic rides coupled with grave political judgment deficits,” the President said.

“The Zambian people are aware that these by-elections are actually as a result of the high-handed actions of the same opposition leaders who are making it difficult for those MPs that have chosen to collaborate with the PF Government to operate effectively.”

The Head of State maintained that his administration will work with whoever is prepared to contribute to the development of the country. President Sata said the sole purpose of this inclusivity and co-existence is to stimulate economic and social growth among others.

“To that effect, I have with good intentions appointed our colleagues from the opposition into Government. But it is the same misguided and unpatriotic opposition leaders that have been threatening to make the country ungovernable,” President Sata said.

“What is the Government supposed to do when injudicious leaders of the opposition do everything possible to try and undermine Government’s ability to deliver services to the people? Every responsible Government world over will ensure that it consolidates itself to be in a position to deliver on the promises that got it elected into office.

“Our dear Pastor Nevers Mumba, who is at the forefront of expelling others for serving in Government, was made Republican Vice-President from an opposition party. What has changed today? When it was in Government the MMD appointed ministers from the opposition parties, why should it be different today?”

President Sata advised the opposition political parties to appreciate the value of inclusivity and patriotism if they genuinely seek to serve the people of Zambia.

  1. Well done bwana Sata, Hakapuba Hakapena (HH) as called by one scholar is an underfive frustrated by not occupying the state house. Lets forge ahad with development UPND/MMD are finished and nolonger factors in zambian politics. viva Sata ,longlive PF

    • You must be a very backward person! Youre the same maggots who encouraged Kaunda to introduce a one party state on the pretext that you wanted to ‘forge ahead with development’. We know where that got Zambia to. Besides where is the development that PF has brought to the country? All we’ve seen is nepotism and tribalism on the part of Sata. The Agricultural sector is in freefall. Farmers are not been paid. Mealie meal prices have doubled and for the first time in more than a decade people are queeing for meali meal on the copperbelt. No my dear we will not allow morons like you to take us back to the dark ages with your stu.pid campaigns for a One Party PF government!

    • spot on man, as for upnd supporters should have shame. where is the 100m which you president said sata was giving to the mps? you should have shame. you so called hh is an alarmist. he isnt a match to his exellence chilufya michael sata, he so angry because he doesnt know what comes his way.he is kept in the dark of what will happen.

    • Who told you UNDER FIVE!!! is better than MCS? Continue dreaming until you drop dead as your hh and upnd will never form govt. May be if you change the current leadership and strategies.

    • STFU! Just google ‘Akashambatwa asks to be retired’. Aka asked to be relieved of his duties at TAZARA in November last. He never got a response from your Sata. It is one year now. By the way the collapse of TAZARA has nothing to do with AKA. Chipewo was there before Aka . And he faced the same problems. TAZARA needed at least $750m for recapitalization in 2009. That amount should be over $1 bn today. The Tanzanian and Zambian govts were asked to provide this money and nothing has been forthcoming. Tazara is a white elephant because the two govts are not commited to rescustating its operations.

    • What law in zambia says that even @Sillyma…(Wechipuba, as your translates into in some Zed languages) can’t start/form a political party if you have the balls to do so? The misdirections of the current crop of opposition leaders is not the PF’s making or cause. PF has never threatened those in opposition that have decided to work with this govt to resign from opposition or else!

It is the myopic and selfish opposition leaders themselves that have been threatening and expelling their own MPs if they decide to work with the govt, and PF has only opted to give political cover to those MPs who feel abandoned by their own parties. And how does that become PF’s problem? MMD miscalculated in Mufumbwe and they lost. So they shouldn’t blame anybody else for their imature politics!

  2. UBUCHENDE BWABAMUDALA IS MAKING HIM NOT THINK PROPERLY. SATA WAS THE ONE WHO FIRED THE REBEL MP’S FROM LUAPULA FOR WORKING WITH THE MMD.

    TODAY WHAT HAS CHANGED????

SATA IS NOT NORMAL AND DWELLS ON WHAT IS FINE TO HIM ALONE.

THE CATHOLICS MUST HOUND THIS MAN OUT OR CAGE HIM SO THAT HE STARTS TO SPEAK THE TRUTH. HE CANT FORCE THE OPPOSITON TO SUPPORT HIM BY RANSOM

    • Buchende bwabanoko waumfwa? Leave Sata alone and do you think if we had enough PMs in Parliament to support our programs, we would even waste time to include those other MPs? You are an *****. Pamuni.

  3. zambia deserves better..copperbelt has a crisis in mealie meal and all sats knows in politicking. HH would have made sense for president.I have never head any policy statement from sata or any economical matters..RB tried on the economy..all sata knows is the obvious politicking. He cannot even talk abot the exchange rate which is gone bad.

  4. Akashambatwa IS WELL KNOWN FOR RUNNING DOWN COMPANIES. REMEMBER THE COMPANY KITWE CERAMICS. IT WAS IN KK DAYS HANDED TO AKASHAMBATWA IN IT’S BRAND-NEW FORM. HE RAN IT DOWN. I WONDER WHY THEY KEEP GIVING HIM SUCH STRATEGIC COMPANIES TO RUN (OR IS IT RUN DOWN)?

  5. Most Politicians are such useless people with no integrity they keep on contradicting themselves and fools praise them what a shame. Sometimes it is good to say nothing than be a barking dog

  6. Please, what good news can come out of his mouth, the chairman of corruption? Anything which he pronounces is already calculated after working through methodologies designed to illustrate that our genuine chairman of the struggle Mr.HH is not honest. We expected this dinossour to come out with his 7 guns blazing before sunset and he always lives up to his backward dishonest life-style. He always finds ways of linking theoretical instances with practical implementation of his propaganda prepared by Chela Mfula his political commissor. Absolutely nothing new which he has to say shakes us in our boots because our resolve is too strong and our only weakness is that we do not know which of those 7 guns he would use in the aftermath of the facts which HH feeds the nation

    • yeah right like we were right over the sudan pf melish traained youths, and now the 100 million. we jast dint knw how sata will react.

  7. And what has changed that the same Sata intimidated his MP`s who were serving under MMD. They were only served by courts not being expelled by Sata.

  8. If this recent dinossour was truthful in his dealings with the Zambian masses then, a simple question one can put to him is, why are you bothered so much about the opposition and why don’t just implement your developmental projects anywhere in the republic? Surely the opposition has no 7 guns or 1000 guns to stop this dinossour with his pack of clonies from effecting positive change meant for all Zambians. Why is he always making a big fussy all the time when he is suppose to be delivering on his promises? He has the cake and he must just share it with everyone not blaming the opposition. His clonies are free to move anywhere without seeking permission from any person other himself the serpent. Hey stand up, serpent and start working for the people not your own forest

    • Man, you make a lot of sense. If Sata is after developing the whole country, he can do it anywhere, not just where they voted fo him

  9. I like you mr. sata but you are NOT a man of good principle. you only believe that something is good when its in your favour and not the other way. If you found it bad for Mr. Mwanawasa to work with your opposition mps, you would also find it bad to appoint the opposition mps when you are in power. That is good principle. IF ITS WRONG FOR YOUR FRIEND TO FU..CK YOUR WIFE, DONT FU..CK YOUR FRIEND’S WIFE, EVEN IF SHE IS A SLUT…THATS GOOD PRINCIPLE

  10. Did he say anything about the food shortages and sky rocketing of prices of essential commodities or is he just focussed on bringing the days of UNIP back?

  11. The first thing you would have done when you got into power was to preach, Peace and Reconciliation not fruitless commission of inquiries

  12. Mr. Sata condemned MMD for working with his mps, but now he is doing the same. olo nima politics, cant people be a bit principled not to do what they condemned yesterday? How do we trust them like that?

  13. Your excellence. Mwanichmwisa bwana. I have insulted you in my heart for the first time since I was born. By the way, when is the civil war starting? I know that is your assignment from your Grandmaster. You may fail if you don’t provoke us harder because we are a Christian nation. Truth will surface no matter how much you don’t kubeba.

  14. Well spoken ba Sata. This is too good and forward looking to come from you. ” President Sata advised the opposition political parties to appreciate the value of INCLUSIVITY and patriotism if they genuinely seek to serve the people of Zambia.” I give you A+ on this conception. Zambia has several professionals whom we can use to spur the development of the country. But cowardice, false accidental alliances of tribe and political party affiliation, and down right misplacement and redundancy of manpower is hindering their participation.

  15. Whoa! This negative blogging can leave one helpless. Yes, Sata expelled his MPs who were protected by the law until their term in office ran out – after that they were not adopted. HOWEVER as the matter stands, the Republican Constitution DOES provide for appointment of ministers from outside the ruling party. Ethically, both Sata and Nevers have played a number – BUT the instrument allowing the status quo to exist is still in existence… Next!

  16. Sata thinks Zambians are foolish and indeed the majority fit into his thinking, otherwise he would not be president today. The blame game for things that are blatantly clear does not serve the nation but those that are behind the lies. My first question to Sata and his worshipers is simple: what is this national development that you always talk about? Every Minister talks of development and if these words meant anything other than self enrichment to our leader we would all have seen tangible movement towards it. But the foolish are easy swayed when bye elections come and they see holicopters, white Veep n a number of 4×4’s with Ministers urging them to vote for their candidates if they want development! what development? Can someone supporting Sata elaborate on development.

    • May I also add that if development was a priority to this Govt would we be seeing this evident “grinding to a halt” of the FRA? An authority charged with handling the most basic and staple commodity that feeds the nation? Farmers not paid so late in the day, shortage of mealie meal etc yet the Masumba’s and other defectors are furnished with brand new 4×4’s almost instantly with millions of Kwacha to woe others. In my view the meaning of development to our leaders is subjective to ministers pockets and therefore Sata should refrain from suggesting “national” development because that will never come as there is no real intent.

    • From the comments here, actually Sata knows that most Zambians are imbeciles! I agree with you that just the mere fact that he is president is testimony to that fact.

    • @Yambayamba
The problem with imbeciles is that when someone makes a point, they dispell it and accuse someone of being “loony”. The fact is the PF and this Govt are such failures it is bound to drive others loony.

  17. #26, if you dont understand what national development is then it is not sata’s duty to lecture you on it. Go back to school. What is the meaning of article 46(3) in the constitution? What is wrong with the President exercising powers like Levy Mwanawasa did? What is the value of democracy if it cannot be inclusive and embracing? Government must be embracing. Development in the broader context means creating a better life for all our people and much as this remains an ideal situation, it calls for Zambians, irrespective of political background to step out and directly contribute the design and implementation of development programmes.

    • @ 31 Mfula I beg to differ with you on this one.Firstly, PF did not accept the appointment of its MPs by the late HE late President L P Mwanawasa SC ( MYSRIP) into the MMD govt.Remember how he treated them. These are things that are making his work difficult. Its like the past is haunting him.Inclusive and embracing yes, but he did not stand for these values when he was in opposition. If he really wants to work with the opposition in my view he should consider consulting it national matters.Look nobody knows everything its good to say sorrry where you errored in the past for the sake of peace and progress.OTHERWISE YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET MY MPS FOR YOUR PROGRAMS who were put there to check what you doing.

  18. The true reality is that Ba President Sata is now actively condemning his own children to untold misery in the event of his sudden demise. All those that dined with him -including Mahtani, Mutembo Nchito, Mmembe etc will gnash their in agony under a the most civilised and democratic regime. God Hear Us.

  19. Sata just shutup. No one is frustrating your so called development projects. You’re just a primitive man whose main aim was simply to be in state house. You have no vision for the country. You’re simply a radical Bemba tribalist modelled on Kapwepwe!

  20. POLITIX IS A NUMBERS GAME. AND THIS IS WHAT Mr SATA IS ACHIEVING. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE MAJORITY IN PARLIAMENT THE STUPID OPPOSITION WILL BE SHOOTING DOWN MOST OF YOUR BEST DEVELOPMENTAL PLANS AND YOU ARE BOUND TO FAIL AS A GOVT. SO PF IS TRYING TO CONSOLIDATE THEMSELVES SO THAT STUPID OPPOSITION HAS NO CHANCE TO FRUSTRATE THE GOVT POLICIES. THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD MR PRESIDENT. TEACH THE NAPKIN BOYS A LESSON. SELELOKO TUBOMBEKO.

  21. Iwe # 10 do some research about the rebel MPs. It was their fault my dear not Mr. Sata. Do we want to go or not? give reasons why we should and why we shouldn’t, they all agreed that they were not going to be part of the NCC. Ba makaka thought they were clever and see what hapened to them….mwamoneni!!! Muleipusha bane.

  22. I cannot believe this is the same limpen who expelled the whole entire Tubulu contingent of Muchungwa and his gang for accepting to sit on the Review Commission. Maybe god did not endower Sata was any decent length of memory, or could be the lunatic is on a drug called canabis to act this way. Might be both actually, ati “sela nsebaneko!”

    • Have you ever heard of the principle of collective responsibilty? The PF agreed as a party not take part in the failed NCC but those selfish MPs disobeyed the Party’s resolve. PF was vindicated at the end as nothing came out of that useless NCC. It is always wise to consider actions taken in different situations and reasons behind such actions.

  23. What’s alarming at this moment is the shortage of mealie meal. Suddenly we are transported back to 1986 and 1990 when people rioted over this basic and essential commodity. I have no clue what could be so complicated about the mundane and routine functions as paying off farmers in time and ensuring that is always maize to cater to the needs of the millers. Too much time is wasted politicking instead of designing simpler systems to deliver goods and services seamlessly. How long are we going to remain in this banana republic and mickey mouse methods of doing things? Are we cursed or what?

  24. Sata and dull Zambians, which oposition persons are stopping PF from;
    1. avert looming poverty next year due to failure to implement agriculture support program (inputs not delivered)
    2. paying peasant farmers for supplying maize to FRA
    3. averting the shortage of mealie meal on the CB
    4. enacting the constitution (Sata opposed the current method when he was in oposition & fired his MP’s for participating)
    5. averting looming cholera due to the filthy state of all our major cities due to street vending
    6. getting our hospitals basic equipment to help improve service delivery etc….
The ratings from PF clearly show that they have failed & after excuses

  25. why can’t there be constitutional provisions that bar MPs to be appointed into government. Back benchers are backbenchers to offer the necesasary checks and balances for government to work effectively? When opposition party parliamentarians accept jobs in governemt, they render the opposition toothless and therefor the government ideliberately ineffective. We know the mentality of an african in power. The current system can’t work in africa because african leaders in power becaome so drunk with power that they now start doing what they like just because they are in power even if it means blowing billions of dollars on useless constitutional making processes. Let us have laws and systems that a tailor made for an african leader and his mentality together with the mentality of the masses

  26. check your minister of education if he does not smoke marijuana too. This is why people say the opposition in Zambia is weak. A lot of things are going wrong but the opposition leaders are busy fighting their members. Speak of real issues. SATA has allowed CBU to rot in corruption. CBU will continue experiencing the same headaches as long as leaders are put in corruptly. The search committee recommended Prof. Tembo for VC this is fact. The search committee appointed Dr. Libati for DVC also fact. What did the minister do? SATA check the recommendations from the search committee. CBU cannot continue being manipulated by a few individuals. Watch the space.

  27. VERY, VERY UNCONSISTANCE MAN. WHEN MWANAWASA OPPOINTED OPPOSITION MPs FROM PF, WHAT WAS MR SATA’S REACTION? RABEL MPs . CHIWAMILA GALU KULUMU MBUZI…

  28. Some of the opposition MPs, with the exception of those from Southern Province, believe in sebana wikute. They are not principled that is why it is very easy for the party in power to to buy them like goats.

  29. President Sata is a President for all Zambians and those disgruntled and bitter bloggers full of negative energy might as well consider pushing for the removal of article 46 (3) from the constitution. The President is acting within his powers in the same way that late Mwanawasa did. You want President Sata to behave like an Opposition leader? He is now Head of State and must preside over the affairs of the nation in an all inclusive manner, including applying article 46 (3) of the laws of Zambia to appoint deputy ministers from Parliament. Nevers Mumba and HH can go and suck a lemon because there is no legal justification in their cry.

  30. The Opposition can prevent bye-elections by allowing their MPs to serve as provided for in the Constitution of Zambia which they swore to uphold. Article 46(3)

  31. TRUE OR FALSE
If USA was Zambia, today’s headlines will read as follows:
“Don’t Celebrate Yet, Romney tells Obama” (The Post Newspaper) “Concede defeat, Obama urges Romney” (Daily Mail) “Opposition Cadres Riot, Hundreds Injured and Arrested” (Times of Zambia) “Romney Demands Vote Recount” (Daily Nation) “No Evidence of Manipulation” (ZBNC News) “The Church Declares Elections Free and Fair (Radio Christian Voice) “Trucks with Suspected Ballot Papers Cross into USA from Mexico” (Tumfweko) “I will not accept results, Romney tells Obama” (New Vision Newspaper) “The People behind Obama’s victory: His Girlfriend and Mafia Connections Uncovered” (Kachepa 360) “HH Happy to Win Southern Province” (Zambian Watchdog.)

  32. this is a very cheap response. Chela thinks his boss is addressing grade 1 pupils. Look Sata never allowed his MP’s to work with the government of the day. The example of Nevers is as cheap as its author. MMD sat and Agreed with Nevers’ Party before appointment , not the way sata is doing it.Any way it looks like nothing sata stood for is being defended or done today. What a fraud!!!

  33. PF rebels MPs were nearly expelled from the party , but for the courts due to their participation in the dubious NCC, led by George Kunda SC, MHSRIP. This was based on the principle that, the NCC was destined to come up with a failed constitutional document and the money being spent was plunder and indeed this was true and cost RB, George Kunda & the MMD power. The inclusion of opposition MPs in ministerial position is correct constitutionally as per Article 46 (3) and it works to create a hybrid government with cross pollination of ideas, knowledge and discipline in society so as to break new ground in development. My sincere advise to MMD is that they should stop intimidating their MPs who have ministerial jobs. Nevers has no moral right to expel these MPs and it will badly backfire!
