The opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) says it is yet to make its final position about its plans to petition the Mufumbwe seat which was won by PF’s Stephen Masumba in the 8th November parliamentary by-election.

MMD president Nevers Mumba says the party is today meeting to make its position known on the matter.

Dr. Mumba says it will be inappropriate to state what the way forward is because the party has not yet met to decide following the submission of a report from its campaign team in Mufumbwe.

Recently, Dr. Mumba indicated that his party will petition the Mufumbwe election results citing malpractices by the ruling PF.

And asked on the ultimatum issued by party youths on national secretary Richard Kachingwe and his deputy Chembe Nyangu to step-down, Dr. Mumba says the party stands firm by its resolve not to openly discuss inter-party issues.

He says all issues affecting the party are being handled well within the party structures.

  1. why did you congratulate PF if you have to petition. Zambian politics is not for the godly but the wicked unless you tryin to confirm something

  2. Man of Gold zambia shall be saved, just imagine if voted in power are you going to preach repentance at plot One? I don’t think so it’s never too late. please go back on the pulpit.

  3. this man is a sellout, how could he say MMD needs UPND to win? i wont be sprised if he suggests that they fuse int UPND. He is killing the MMD slowly.

  4. Move on man, there times for campaigns and time to handle other national issues. There so many areas of life needing attention than elections. Your party is still number two position. You may not do well even in 2016. Sata has a bigger foot at the ball. I doubt if you can ever dribble past him. He has massive experience and he seems to have more big and broader agenda for the country. More districts, more empowerment, better financial management, lesser corruption, rebasing of the Kwacha, more universities, more road network, more companies, street vendors stay untill solution is found, etc etc, all these seems too big for you to fight against. Do your homework properly, not just pondering bye election petitions. Zambia forward with development. Sata is too advanced than you think.

    • though i doubt that sata has a good develpmental plan for zambia, i agree that the oppostion is more lost. they dont seem to know what they are supposeed to be doing. In developed countries, opposition parties are well vested with knowledge, they study how the govt is perfoming and when they open their mouth, what comes out is data/statistics of how the country is perfoming in all sectors. Then they give their options of how things should be done right. In this way citizens are well informed about what an opposition party can do once voted into power, oppostions parties should be viewed as govts in waiting not pa zed ni bwatubwatu napashilingile….

  5. Just petition. After all the Justice Minister said that bye elections are good for democracy and that democracy is justifiably expensive
