Former Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti has promised to provide stiff opposition to the ruling Patriotic Front once his political party which is in the offing is finally launched.

Mr Mulongoti said that his party will strive to keep the PF Government in check by providing the necessary checks and balances on behalf the Zambian people.

He said that the same way the PF kept the MMD in check when they were in the opposition will be the same way his party conduct opposition politics.

He said that his party will not spare the PF government but will question every dubious deals government engages.

Mr Mulongoti added that the PF has failed to govern the country, and has challenged them to tell the Zambian people what they have done since taking over government last year.

He was speaking on MUVI TV’s the Assignment.

  6. This weekend Dec 16th, my fiancé and future husband to be and I, arrive at Kenneth Kaunda Int Airport
    It feels surreal that the moment is here. I am looking forward, I have taken anti Malaria tablets flu jab, yellow fever and pretty much ready.
    I am still not clear on what the ‘must see’ places are there, I don’t want to embarrass him. I also shall leave to Chinsali, he wants to see where I come from, I know most men in Zambia will feel I am a ‘sell-out’ when they see me with a whiteman I hope if anything I am forgiven
    I hope to make friends, be respected, accepted and food is worth it.

    • Good. I will wait for you and remember all the bad things you have said about Zambia have kept them. That very day, (16th) I too will be there to sought you out properly. And make sure you come with your food otherwise you and your rubbish white Abino man won’t taste our lovely nshima with Kapenta. Never, agani , will you EVER mention Chinsali!! Mulongoti could do with some advice: You were one of those directly responsible for installing RB as republican president after the death LPM – in place of more capable individuals, it must be said. You then realised what a poor choice you had made and jumped ship. You probably thought RB would be so grateful he would rollover and hand power to you FTJ style and now because of your terrible mistake Sata is president to day. You think this is a game – you had your special moment and you blew it. You are simply NOT presidential material – poor judgement, too much!

    • I don’t think RB was a bad President as you, the PF and the post newspaper would want us believe. If anything, we are all now aware that the PF and the post are liars and that says a lot about what you have chosen to believe. RB stands second to LPM in terms of performance in our presidents with Sata obviously at the bottom.

    • @It’s a worry(tribal blogging is primitive blogging) : It’s not what PF or Post said. Oh man You forget so quickly: why was Chiluba acquitted (“RB said where am I going to put him” – what nonsensical thinking – is there a prison for presidents and one for commoners – a thief is a thief – fullstop)? Why was the london judgement not registered? Before Chiluba is acquitted RB speaking in Kabwe thanked Zambians for forgiving him – quoted not only by post but in GRZ media!! Sata did not win election, RB lost it! He lost it because most voters saw him as a joke. No amount of money could buy him the election people were just fed up with the way he tried to launder Chiluba and the percieved behaviour of his children. Sata and PF are clowns and a waste of time!!!

  14. This is real plural politics. Mike Go Go Go, the electorate are the only one who can stop you and not any politician. Democracy means you can form any political association as you like as long as the electorate are behind you. Word of caution though, prepare your manifesto well you have been in both camps in  MMD and also worked with PF to bring the MMD down. Consult Magande, Nawakwi as well as political parties that have only ended up with the name. All the best in your endeavours.

  21. So if PF “thanked” Mulongoti, could he still form a ka party? The answer is No. So because of sour-grapes, he has formed a ka party so that he can oppose everything that PF does just like his fellow croonies Nevers and Hakainde. We want a formidable party which can genuinely keep a closer eye on PF and not bitter people.

  23. In the hope that you grab ‘Kwilamba’! It is quality that matters; your people should first believe in you; otherwise you will just cause overgrazing in the extra PF territory. Look at Edith, Magande, Chipimo, Miyanda – they found no more market share; found already taken by Sata, RB and HH. Please do not spend your little money unwisely – you will end up being a sellout and destitute as was Chama and others! Running a political party in Zambia is not a joke.

Does being a president of a party give some protection and from what? Why are so many people only wanting to be national presidents: Sondashi, BYMwila, Mazoka, Miyanda, Milupi, Akashambatwa, Chakomboka, Magande, Chipimo, Hakainde, Nevers, Lenshina, Nkumbula, Kaunda, Kapwepwe, Chiluba, Banda, Wezi, Konie, Nawakwi, Sata, etc. They all ever sought to be Republican Presidents!  Live your dream Mulongoti, just like them all. Just remember it not impossible but also it may not be possible at all.

Not so long ago, you where in a minister in the former ruling party and thought by being rejected by your own party will guarantee you a job. I tell, just go and invested your last ngwees at a farm before you become a berger. You politicians whats wrong with you? Are you telling me that there is nothing esle you can do besides being a chance (polician). Please get yourself a life. Not even your wife would waste a vote on you.   30. Mike if you really mean business, join already existing political parties. Running a political party is a very expensive venture. Do not be content without content. You just want to make a name that once upon a time you were party president of a party called so-and so. This is being content without content. Just join hands with either UPND or MMD. Afterall, you left MMD because of RB. RB is no longer the MMD president so u can now go back. What do you think? I would like you to particularly respond to the issues I have raised.

    • He is eying out donor funds to bump him up. Mulongoti was left with a big gap after he contributed some money to PF(He has been talking about that), so he needs a ROI. Unfortunately he could not get it back from PF, so the best way is to scramble for ubufungau of what donors provide to Oposition Political parties as a way of strengthening good governance, by forming his kantemba party All the best, am sure you wil get you some candy from that jar. You might even rule one day, just neve mind your employers(Zambian people) if they constantly keep rejecting you.

  36. our country does not need any more political parties…we already have too many to mention…what we need are credible men and women..men with morals and conviction..those that are guided by a compelling focus and philosophy..those we can believe in and respect…those whose works speak volumes than their loud mouths…men whom when given an opportunity…whether in opposition or the ruling party..they work for the good of the country…you dont necessarily need to have a presidency title to serve this pottentially grea nationt…if they are true leaders…let them demonstrate to us what they can do without titles.

  39. I think they should be some restriction (toughen requirements)on who can founder a political party in terms of how much they are worth in terms of wealth. The person should at least have 1.5 billion kwacha in the account since we now have KR it should be KR1.5 Million. People should instead be encouraged to join already existing parties, in fact the registrar of societies should put requirements to have signatures of party members who should be not less than 2 million people. If you remember well Gen. Miyanda hardly had 200 people which is a minimum requirement and am told Mr.Sata had to give him some of his supports just to not waste time in registering for the presidential elections in the previous election before 2011. 

  43. This will only be a party meant to satisfy an inflated ego. He has discovered he is on the supply side of a saturated political market. I’m sure no party wants Mulongoti. So he’s opted to add to the inflation of the Political market by increasing opposition parties when even the Kwacha is trying to discard its numerous zeros.
    Imwe ba Mike the opposition needs rebasing and extra zeros like you should simply be discarded. What can you do that other ‘zeroes’ like Nawakwi, HH, Miyanda Magande can’t do. You just make it difficult for us to count the opposition.
