    • Its not demons its things like depression and social problems which can be solved by the way. It m o t h er f u ck ers like yourself who encourage people to kill themselves by saying people who are sucidal should just be left alone. this attitude has to stop in zambia .

    • Why is it that whenever such incidents people fall back to the same old BS of witchcraft as a cause? Mental illness presents in many forms and is mostly left undiagnosed, for reasons ranging from ignorance to fear of stigma. I bet you and others still believe convulsions or epilepsy is as a result of witchcraft from a jealous neighbour, such archaic thinking.

That said, I hope this impresses on the schools and hospitals to put in place counseling services for their student and staff population as a requirement for maintaining their respective positions with emphasis on high stress professions or choice of study.

  1. This is a very very sad en bitter feeling to bear. Wateva happened to you frend….it wasnt supposed to be like that. will sadly miss yu

  2. The fruits of the innocent chicken fatherless Bwalya mercilessly slaughtered at one of the rallies in LY during the run up to 2011 “erections”

    • You stupid mo th er f u ck er , what if this had been your brother or friend, dont you have any sense at all? itole chikala!

    • Oui! You can insult all you want. People who commit suicide are weak and selfish. More so in the case of this guy. He should at least have confided in someone. A problem shared is a problem solved. Think of the trauma his little sister is suffering as a result of being witness to this guy’s cowardly and selfish act. And please if you ever find yourself in a similar situation where you want to take your own life, talk to someone. You will most probably find out that the desperate situation is nothing more than your own Stu.pidity. And you Sir, seem to have those credentials!

    • True, I too have no kind words for people who take their lives. Being a doctor, am sure he had seen how people in the hospital fight and pray had to get better.

  3. Sad news really. Please guys, let us share our problems it helps to release tension.

May the Lord God bless the bereaved family.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

    • Answer honestly, have you ever asked a Dr how he/she is doing today???
or you jus assume they are fine??
I have nothing against religion, but in Zambia, religion seems to hold us back.
The things Drs see on a daily basis are more tha enough to kill all the living joy in anyone..

    • I also have nothing against religion but its Zambian adherents are so prone to stereotypes that they just repeat from scriptures without giving much thought to individual situations. In short they move with the crowd and repeat what the rest say.
This is because everyone joins religion out of peer pressure. We are Christian because everyone surrounding us is Christian. Had we been born in Northern Nigeria we would be repeating Koranic scriptures similarly.

  4. Dr. Kapapa it is sad that you have left in such a state of shock. Whatever happened only yourself knows, perhaps your sister will enlighten us on the turn of events. This is very very very Sad! May your Rest in Peace.

  5. Kanyanta,

As your guy DMX sang ” See to live is to suffer but to survive
Well that’s to find meaning in the suffering.”
The que is – what is the meaning of this your death?
What was worth your life Kanyanta?
Worth depriving your family and friends of the blessing of presence?

It was not supposed to be this way
You were better than this… Never knew u to be selfish
Selflessness, love, laugther, resolve is what you were about…
But who can search a mans heart n see it for what it is but God?
It may have seemed like it but it is not the sweet escape you sought…
So for now, rest my dear one.

May God be with your family

  6. I hope he didnt impregnant the young sister and then failed too ashamed to handle the consequences. If it was depression because ofany medical condition, then I doubt his medical credentials, how can he support an ordinary patient.

Whatever the reason, he was a coward who traumatised his young sister!!!! I am relucntant to say MHSRIP but can only wish family, especially young sister, God’s comforting love!!

    • Easier to do it at the flats than at a Komboni house. I remember when I first came to town from the village, I lived at some flats in Lusaka. The first thing that came to my mind was, if I were to commit suicide, I would just throw myself down there.

  7. I sympathise with the Doctor but having been in Ndola when suicide plunges were rabid in the 80s I must say he was being very selfish in his act. When you drop from a building in your suicide plunge you traumatise so many eyewitnesses who had nothing to do with whatever caused you to kill yourself. As a doctor he had access to other inconspicuos ways of ending his life.

  8. LT! Was the doc. Male or female because you start with she and end with he?pls LT it was an incident and not an incidence.Cowards die many times before they finally die.MHSRIP.

  9. What he did was very wrong..
but at the same time few people ever realise that Dr’s are very depressd people that live dysunctional lives all in the name of putting the patients first…
The hypocratic oath denies you of having any other ‘healthy’ relationships outside the hospital…
The masses fail to comprehend that you are not made of steel…
like shakespeare said’if you prick us,do we not bleed???’
They resort to alcohol abuse en the likes as a safety net…
this is one of the reasons after spending alot of money and time in med skool,i refused to practice, choose a desk job rather than having a life where i question if theres more to it by the day..
mysrip Dr,you robbedThe country and community of a valuable asset.
    “corpora lente augescent cito extinguuntur”

    • Sang real you also robbed the country and community of a valuable asset. Please get out of that office job and into the Surgery.

  10. Depression, nothing else, why dont these guys get counselling? it would help, peaple work hard and earn peanuts, being a Doc does not mean you are supper human, we are all humans with the same desires and needs, life must be balanced, he may have needed help long before he concluded killing himself, i bet the symptoms were all clear, zed ati awe ni ba doc he dont need help alifye bwino, maybe extra other social activities could help save more docs from jumping ka? Ba Sata since your wifey is in the same line of work she must know the signs when it’s tools down, you could get more info and help facilitate the counselling and make avalaible tools for socialising of the men and women working hard so they stay alive and save lives, am suggesting gym, after work parties or clubbing for them.

  11. Am also suggesting yoga, salsa, trips to some game park or some nature resorts, these things may seem far fetched but they are so important , i know it may be an expensive venture but not as expensive as the monies spent on beers, prostitutes, clothes you dont even need etc, that is one less doctor in zambia and that is utter nonsense, this could have been prevented, not medication all the time, it has side effects, maybe that was one. So please take serious consideration of how some activities over looked in life can save lives, mhsrip.

  12. Too bad now who will keep the two children you left behind? Anyone who knows his sister’s phone number , i can help to raise the kids after i marry the girl.

  13. suicide knows no gender, degree, calibre, profession. Docs enloy your lives. If this is being hindered due to meagre salaries, pls migrate!!

  14. Why Kanyanta? You had so much to live for. Family and friends..we all held you close to our hearts. You will surely be missed. Till we meet again my friend. May your soul rest in eternal peace.

    • Papa Gee…no one understands what goes on in another’s mind for sure. kanshi chachine filya balanda ati umutwe wamunobe chalo chimbi…..sad,very sad.

  15. First week of med school we were given some statistics.Suicide rates were said to be high among doctors-at least in the West.Sad for the young man.He surely had more to live for.Doctors lets seek help when we are stressed or discouraged.Sad for the sister who tried to stop him to no avail.May the Lord comfort her and the other loved ones.

  16. Condolences to the family. I had a suicide in family in 2010, so I sympathise will them. The world is full of problems. Speak to others for advise, guidance, comfort and direction. Any problem can be resolved. No need to committ suicide. Let the sister tell us why the brother committed suicide. MHSRIP

    • Lol! You actually can agree with me! For some reason I thought it is only you who is canterkerous enough to repeatedly vote down my contribution @5!

    • That is sad part about it agreeing with you! I tried voting it down repeatedly just for fun of it but it was not having it!kekeke

  17. The sister needs to tell us more. If anything to stop others from jumping to death. What happened???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  18. His best patient could have died and he felt useless. He might have been suffering from a disease called kulijayalysis common in Gujulat. In certain communities when one loses a precious thing what comes in the mind is suicide. Teachers kill themselves when their children fail, doctors when many of their patients die, farmers when their crops fail, couples when they are not able to conceive and politicians when they cant fullfil their promises.

  19. SHEM! lets talk about this activity often to avoid people thinking its the solution, evil spirits may be involved, but Jesus is greater.

  20. Im so ashamed for so many of the comments here, in a society with such hard hearts is it any wonder that suicide is prevalent? Dont you people have any emotional sympathy at all. Are you seriously blaming (???!!!) the guy for commiting suicide, calling him a coward, calling him selfish, saying he will go to hell?? openly and without shame on this site? Zambia yandi your children are so lost. Dont you I D I O TS realize tomorrow it might be you or your family member in that situation? Behaving like hyenas and goats!

  21. Too bad. I knew this dude though not on a personal level. We lived in the same neighborhood in Ndola city center.

  22. What we need in Zambia is a real focus on mental illness. Only if you ran naked in the street do people realize you have a sickness and need treatment. But there are many people suffering silently from mental disorders and illnesses such as depression with no relief because the symptoms cannot be visibly seen.Where do you go for therapy or treatment for depression in Zambia? We have to come with a way to deal with these things. For those making stu.pid comments just go and crawl in a hole somewhere. You know nothing about mental issues. And who says he has no hope of afterlife. You are not God so leave it to Him to judge.

  23. Too many dependents! The guy is 28 and probably single. He should be enjoying his life not taking care of freaking relatives.

Personally I dont like dependents. If you are not my child or my parents, I am not giving you a dime, get a job or you jump out of the window!

  24. Killing your self and leaving your child, is an uncalled for action no matter the situation at hand. Imagine what it will take to explain this info to the child. So sad.
    RIP DOC.

  25. Most of the doctors I have come across do not behave normal. Could it be as a result of reading too many medical books and handling all sorts of medical conditions. They are too advanced such that they make crazy decisions and do crazy things at times. Most of them are Atheists and don’t seek God for wisdom. Let us pray for our Lifer Savers, we appreciate them so much. They work so hard. Ever been to the casualty ward (ER). These guys work so hard. Too bad this doctor had to end his life. May his dear soul rest in peace. Bravo to all the Doctors.

    • We also read so many books in our professions. These guys probably also see too many ugly things that we do not see. Also when they are sick they worry more than a non medical person bebcause they know exactly what is going on in there body and probably what is gonna happen to them.

I almost elected to be a Doctor but this profession makes you poor the entire of your life. How many doctors are rich in Zambia, even those in private practice? None on record despite the 7 years they spend pounding. They are also not good managers of their own lives and make poor managers of any institution. They should review their syllabus to incorporate a reasonable amount of management skills and counselling.

      MHSRIP

  26. I think all employers need to create structures where their employers can go, just to talk to someone when the going gets tough. Doctors do a good job easing the discomforts of others in society but where do they themselves go when the ‘going gets tough.’
Do companies in Zambia have chaplains/counsellors to give a listening ear to employees when they need one. For this young doctor to get to this decision, something may have overwhelmed him, which perhaps could have been somehow dealt with had he had a stronger shoulder to lean on.

We need Institutions that value the importance of investing in their workers, not those that are driven by profits. Doctors are as human as anybody else, they too need help sometimes. MHSRIP.

    • You are so right about workplace counselling. I refer some of my subordinates regularly to this unit. We need that in zambia.

  27. This Doc was going to wed next month, this should have been a happy and most exciting time of his life, but he took his own life. So the million dollar question is, was he being forced to Marry his baby Mama? It seems he was not happy with the situation and pressure. RIEP Doc.

  28. imagine grade 1 to7+ grade 8 to 12 (5)+ university (7) -= 19 years doing school program and parents where there waitng to reap from the young who ended up committing suicide… Chi satani wawesesha aba fyashi kunuba yaba!!!!!!!!!!………….. hiiiiiyaba…..

  29. am not botherd this ka ma guy with first degree no is just a junior doctor, he is weak. just go and join judas escariot
